atha khalvāyuṣmān subhūtirbhagavantametadavocat-yo bhagavan bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ sahaśravaṇenaiva asyāṃ gambhīrāyāṃ prajñāpāramitāyāmadhimucyate nāvalīyate na saṃlīyate nāvatiṣṭhate na dhandhāyati na vicikitsati na kāṅkṣati, abhinandati ca prajñāpāramitām, sa bhagavan kutaścyutvā kutropapannaḥ? bhagavānāha-yaḥ subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ sahaśravaṇenaiva asyāṃ gambhīrāyāṃ prajñāpāramitāyāmadhimokṣyate nāvaleṣyate na saṃleṣyate nāvasthāsyate na dhandhāyiṣyati na vicikitsiṣyati na kāṅkṣiṣyati, abhinandiṣyati ca darśanaṃ śravaṇaṃ ca, dhārayiṣyati bhāvayiṣyatyenāṃ gambhīrāṃ prajñāpāramitām, prajñāpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāṃśca manasikārānna vihāsyati, na vipṛṣṭhīkariṣyati mānasam, chandaṃ janayiṣyatyudgrahītuṃ dhārayituṃ vācayituṃ paryavāptuṃ pravartayitum, kariṣyatyanubandham, anugamiṣyati dharmabhāṇakaṃ notsrakṣyati| tadyathāpi nāma subhūte taruṇavatsā gaurnotsṛjati vatsam, evameva subhūte yo bodhisattvo mahāsattva enāṃ gambhīrāṃ prajñāpāramitāṃ śrutvā tāvanna prahāsyati dharmabhāṇakaṃ yāvadasyeyaṃ prajñāpāramitā kāyagatā vā bhaviṣyati pustakagatā vā, ayaṃ subhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo manuṣyebhya eva cyuto manuṣyeṣvevopapannaḥ||
subhūtirāha-syādbhagavan etaireva guṇaiḥ samanvāgato bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'nyebhyo buddhakṣetrebhyaścyuta ihopapannaḥ? bhagavānāha-syātsubhūte bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'nyebhyo buddhakṣetrebhyo'nyān buddhān bhagavataḥ paryupāsya paripṛcchya paripraśnīkṛtya tebhyaścyuta ihopapannaḥ, etaireva guṇaiḥ samanvāgato veditavyaḥ| punaraparaṃ subhūte yo bodhisattvo mahāsattvastuṣitebhyo devebhyaścyuta ihopapannaḥ, so'pyetaireva guṇaiḥ samanvāgato veditavyaḥ| yena maitreyo bodhisattvo mahāsattvaḥ paryupāsitaḥ paripṛṣṭaḥ paripṛcchitaḥ paripraśnīkṛtaḥ imāṃ prajñāpāramitāmārabhya, so'pyetaireva guṇaiḥ samanvāgato veditavyaḥ| yena khalu punaḥ subhūte bodhisattvena mahāsattvena pūrvāntata iyaṃ gambhīrā prajñāpāramitā śrutā, na tu paripṛṣṭā bhavet, na paripṛcchitā na paripraśnīkṛtā, tasya punarapi manuṣyeṣvevopapannasya asyāṃ gambhīrāyāṃ prajñāpāramitāyāṃ bhāṣyamāṇāyāṃ bhavati kāṅkṣāyitatvam, bhavati dhandhāyitatvam, bhavati cittasyāvalīnatā, veditavyametatsubhūte, ayaṃ bodhisattvaḥ pūrvāntato'pyaparipṛcchakajātīyo'bhūt| tatkasya hetoḥ? tathā hi asyāṃ asyāṃ gambhīrāyāṃ prajñāpāramitāyāṃ bhāṣyamāṇāyāṃ bhavati kāṅkṣāyitatvam, bhavati dhandhāyitatvam, bhavati cittasyāvalīnateti||
punaraparaṃ subhūte yena bodhisattvena mahāsattveneyaṃ gambhīrā prajñāpāramitā pūrvāntato'pi śrutā bhavati, paryupāsitā paripṛṣṭā paripṛcchitā paripraśnīkṛtā ca bhavati, ekaṃ vā dinaṃ dve vā trīṇi vā catvāri vā pañca vā dināni, tasya tāvatkālikī śraddhā bhavati, saṃhriyate ca, punarevāsaṃhāryā ca bhavati paripṛcchayā| tatkasya hetoḥ? evaṃ hyetatsubhūte bhavati-yena pūrvaṃ na saṃparipṛṣṭā bhavatīyaṃ prajñāpāramitā, na saṃparipṛcchitā, na saṃparipraśnīkṛtā, na cānuvartitā bhavati, tasya kaṃcitkālaṃ chando'nuvartate asyāṃ gambhīrāyāṃ prajñāpāramitāyāṃ śravaṇāya, kaṃcitkālaṃ chando na bhavati| sa punarevotkṣipyate'vasīdati| tasya calācalā buddhirbhavati| tūlapicūpamaśca sa bhavati| so'yaṃ bodhisattvo'cirayānasaṃprasthito veditavyaḥ| navena yānenāgataḥ sa bodhisattvastāṃ śraddhāṃ taṃ prasādaṃ taṃ chandaṃ prahāsyati, yadutaināṃ gambhīrāṃ prajñāpāramitāṃ nānugrahīṣyati nānuvartiṣyate nānuparivārayiṣyati| tasya dvayorbhūmyoranyatarā bhūmiḥ pratikāṅkṣitavyā-śrāvakabhūmirvā pratyekabuddhabhūmirvā| tadyathāpi nāma subhūte mahāsamudragatāyāṃ nāvi bhinnāyāṃ te tatra kāṣṭhaṃ vā na gṛhṇanti phalakaṃ vā, mṛtaśarīraṃ vā nādhyālambante, veditavyametat-aprāptā evaite pāramudake kālaṃ kariṣyantīti| ye khalu punaḥ subhūte mahāsamudragatāyāṃ nāvi bhinnāyāṃ tatra kāṣṭhaṃ vā gṛhṇanti phalakaṃ vā, mṛtaśarīraṃ vā adhyālambante, veditavyametatsubhūte-naite udake kālaṃ kariṣyanti, svastinā anantarāyeṇa pāramuttariṣyanti, akṣatāścānupahatāśca sthale sthāsyantīti| evameva subhūte yo bodhisattvaḥ śraddhāmātrakeṇa prasādamātrakeṇa premamātrakeṇa chandamātrakeṇa samanvāgataḥ sa ca prajñāpāramitāṃ nādhyālambate, veditavyametatsubhūte antaraivaiṣa vyadhvani vyavasādamāpatsyate, aprāpta eva sarvajñatāṃ śrāvakatve pratyekabuddhatve vā sthāsyatīti| yeṣāṃ khalu punaḥ subhūte bodhisattvānāṃ mahāsattvānāmasti śraddhā, asti kṣāntiḥ, asti ruciḥ, asti chandaḥ, asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ, astyadhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ, asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti prema, astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum, te ca prajñāpāramitāmadhyālambante| evaṃ teṣāṃ sā śraddhā sā kṣāntiḥ sā rūciḥ sa cchandaḥ tadvīryaṃ so'pramādaḥ sādhimuktiḥ so'dhyāśayaḥ sa tyāgaḥ tadgauravaṃ sā prītiḥ tatprāmodyaṃ sa prasādaḥ tatprema sā anikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum| te ca prajñāpāramitāṃ prāpya sarvajñatāyāṃ sthāsyanti| tadyathāpi nāma subhūte strī va puruṣo vā aparipakvena ghaṭenodakaṃ parivahet, veditavyametatsubhūte-nāyaṃ ghaṭaściramanuvartsyate, kṣiprameva paribhetsyate, pravileṣyate iti| tatkasya hetoḥ? yathāpi nāma tadaparipakvatvāddhaṭasya, sa bhūmiparyavasāna eva bhaviṣyatīti| evameva subhūte kiṃcāpi bodhisattvasya asti śraddhā asti kṣāntiḥ asti rūciḥ asti chandaḥ asti vīryam astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ astyadhyāśayaḥ asti tyāgaḥ|
asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti prema, astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum| sa ca prajñāpāramitayā upāyakauśalyena ca aparigṛhīto bhavati, veditavyametatsubhūte ayaṃ bodhisattvo'ntarā vyadhvani vyavasādamāpatsyata iti| kaśca subhūte bodhisattvasyāntarā vyadhvani vyavasādaḥ- śrāvakabhūmirvā pratyekabuddhabhūmirvā? tadyathāpi nāma subhūte strī vā puruṣo vā suparipakvena ghaṭena nadīto vā sarasto vā taḍāgato vā udapānādvā tato'nyebhyo vā udakādhārebhya udakaṃ parivahet, tasya tadudakaṃ parivahato veditavyametatsubhūte svastinā anantarāyeṇa ayaṃ ghaṭo gṛhaṃ gamiṣyatīti| tatkasya hetoḥ? yathāpi nāma suparipakvatvāddhaṭasya| evameva subhūte yasya bodhisattvasya asti śraddhā asti kṣāntiḥ asti ruciḥ asti chandaḥ, asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ astyadhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti premaḥ astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum| sa ca prajñāpāramitayā upāyakauśalyena ca parigṛhīto bhavati| veditavyametatsubhūte nāyaṃ bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'ntarā vyadhvani vyavasādamāpatsyate| akṣato'nupahataḥ sarvajñatāyāṃ sthāsyatīti| tadyathāpi nāma subhūte duṣprajñajātīyaḥ puruṣaḥ sāmudrikāṃ nāvamanākoṭitāmaparikarmakṛtāṃ cirabandhanabaddhāmudake'vatārya samāropitabhāṇḍāṃ paripūrṇāṃ bhārārtāmabhirūḍhaḥ syāt, veditavyametatsubhūte-evaṃdharmeyaṃ naurbhaviṣyati, yaduta udake'saṃtīrṇabhāṇḍaiva saṃsatsyatīti| tasyānyena bhāṇḍaṃ bhaviṣyati, anyena sā naurvipatsyate iti|
evaṃ sa sārthavāho'nupāyakuśalo dauṣprajñena mahatā arthaviyogena samanvāgato bhaviṣyati, mahataśca ratnākarātparihīṇo bhaviṣyatīti| evameva subhūte kiṃcāpi bodhisattvasya asti śraddhā asti kṣāntiḥ, asti ruciḥ asti chandaḥ, asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ astyadhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ, asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti prema, astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum, sa ca prajñāpāramitayā upāyakauśalyena ca virahito bhavati, veditavyametatsubhūte aprāpta evāyaṃ bodhisattvaḥ sarvajñatāratnākaramantarā saṃsatsyati, vyavasādamāpatsyate, mahataḥ svārthātparihīṇo bhaviṣyati, mahataśca parārtharatnarāśeḥ parihīṇo bhaviṣyati, yaduta sarvajñatāmahārtharatnākarātparihīṇatvāditi| kā punaḥ subhūte bodhisattvasya antarā vyadhvani saṃsīdanā? yaduta śrāvakabhūmirvā pratyekabuddhabhūmirvā| tadyathāpi nāma subhūte paṇḍitajātīyaḥ sārthavāhaḥ sāmudrikāṃ nāvaṃ subaddhāṃ bandhayitvā svākoṭitāmākoṭayitvā suparikarmakṛtāṃ kṛtvā udake'vatārya bhāṇḍamāropya pūrṇāṃ kṛtvā samaṃ yojayitvā yuktena vātenābhipretāṃ diśamanupūrveṇa gacchet, tatastadyānamiti, veditavyametatsubhūte neyaṃ naurudake saṃsatsyati| gamiṣyatīyaṃ naustaṃ pradeśaṃ yatrānayā gantavyam| mahālābhena cāyaṃ sārthavāhaḥ saṃyokṣyate yaduta laukikai ratnairiti| evameva subhūte yasya bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya asti śraddhā asti kṣāntiḥ asti ruci chandaḥ asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ astyadhimuktiḥ, astyādhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti prema, astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum, sa ca prajñāpāramitayā parigṛhīta upāyakauśalyena cāvirahito bhavati, veditavyametatsubhūte nāyaṃ bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'ntarā vyadhvani saṃsatsyati, na vyavasādamāpatsyate, sthāsyatyayaṃ bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'nuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau| tatkasya hetoḥ? evaṃ hyetatsubhūte bhavati-yato'sya bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya asti śraddhā, asti kṣāntiḥ, asti ruciḥ, asti chandaḥ, asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ astyadhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti asti prītiḥ, asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti prema, astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum| ete cāsya dharmāḥ prajñāpāramitayā parigṛhītā upāyakauśalyena cāvirahitā na śrāvakabhūmiṃ na pratyekabuddhabhūmiṃ vā pratipatsyante| api tu yena sarvajñatā, tenaite dharmā abhimukhāḥ saṃprasthitāḥ tato'syā anuttarāyāḥ samyaksaṃbodherabhisaṃbodhāya bhaviṣyantīti|
tadyathāpi nāma subhūte kaścideva puruṣo jīrṇo vṛddho mahallakaḥ saviṃśativarṣaśatiko jātyā bhavet, tasya kaścideva śarīre vyādhirutpadyeta vātato vā pittato vā śleṣmato vā saṃnipātato vā| takiṃ manyase subhūte api nu sa puruṣo'parigṛhīto mañcāduttiṣṭhet ? subhūtirāha-no hīdaṃ bhagavan| bhagavānāha-sacetpunaḥ subhūte sa puruṣo mañcāduttiṣṭhet, atha ca punarna pratibalo'rdhakrośāntaramapi prakramitum| sa tayā jarayā tena ca vyādhinā kṣapito yadyapi mañcāduttiṣṭhet, tathāpi punarapratibalaḥ sa puruṣaḥ prakramaṇāya| evameva subhūte kiṃcāpi bodhisattvasya asti śraddhā, asti kṣāntiḥ, asti ruciḥ, asti chandaḥ, asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ, astyadhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ, asti prāmodyam, asti prema, astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum| sa ca prajñāpāramitayā aparigṛhīta upāyakauśalyena ca virahito bhavati, kiṃcāpi saṃprasthito'nuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum| atha ca punaḥ subhūte evaṃ veditavyam-ayaṃ bodhisattvo'ntarā vyadhvani saṃsatsyati, vyavasādamāpatsyate, yaduta śrāvakabhūmau vā pratyekabuddhabhūmau vā sthāsyatīti| tatkasya hetoḥ? yathāpi nāma prajñāpāramitayā aparigṛhītatvādupāyakauśalyena ca virahitatvāt| tadyathāpi nāma subhūte sa eva puruṣo jīrṇo vṛddho mahallakaḥ saviṃśativarṣaśatiko jātyā bhavet, tasya śarīre kaścideva vyādhirūtpadyeta vātato vā pittato vā śleṣmato vā saṃnipātato vā, sa ca mañcāduttiṣṭhet| tamenaṃ dvau balavantau puruṣau vāmadakṣiṇābhyāṃ pārśvābhyāṃ svadhyālambitamadhyālambya suparigṛhītaṃ parigṛhya evaṃ vadetām-gaccha tvaṃ bhoḥ puruṣa yenākāṅkṣasi yāvaccākāṅkṣasi gantum, anuparigṛhītastvamāvābhyām, na tavāntarāmārge patanabhayaṃ bhaviṣyati, yāvanna tvaṃ tadadhiṣṭhānamanuprāpto bhaviṣyasi, yatra tvayā gantavyamiti| evameva subhūte yasya bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya asti śraddhā, asti kṣāntiḥ, asti ruciḥ asti chandaḥ, asti vīryam, astyapramādaḥ, astyadhimuktiḥ, astyadhyāśayaḥ, asti tyāgaḥ, asti gauravam, asti prītiḥ, asti prāmodyam, asti prasādaḥ, asti prema astyanikṣiptadhuratā anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃboddhum, sa ca prajñāpāramitayā anuparigṛhīto bhavati, upāyakauśalyasamanvāgataśca bhavati| veditavyametatsubhūte nāyaṃ bodhisattvo mahāsattvo'ntarā vyadhvani saṃsatsyati, na vyavasādamāpatsyate, pratibalo'yaṃ bodhisattvo mahāsattvastatsthānamanuprāptuṃ yadutānuttaraṃ samyaksaṃbodhisthānamiti||
