vyākhyātā hi vistaraśo vidarśanā| śamatha idānīṃ vaktavyaḥ| sa khalveṣa śamathaścaturthadhyā[nā]rūpyasaṃgṛhītaḥ| tatra tu
[534] sāṅgā cittasthitirdhyānaṃ taccaturdhā'ṅgabhedataḥ|
śamathaḥ khalu sāṅgā kuśalā cittaikāgratā dhyānamityucyate| yasya khalu dharmasyāṅgaparigṛhītato(syo ?) drekā[t] cittacaittānyālambanāntaraṃ na pratipadyante sa dharmaścaitasikaḥ samādhirityākhyāyate| tadaṅgabhedena caturvidhamiti vakṣyāmaḥ| tasyāṃ punaścittasthitau
dhyānoktirāñjasī tatra bhāktī tatsahabhūṣvapi||
samādhisvabhāvaṃ khalu paramārtheṇa(na) dhyānam| saparivāraṃ tu gṛhyamānaṃ(ṇaṃ) pañcaskandhasbabhāvam| bhaktikalpanayā [tatsahabhūṣvapi] dharmeṣu tācchabdyam||
[535] saṃkṣepādiyamākhyātā dhyānajātiścaturvidhā|
prathamaṃ dhyānaṃ dvitīyaṃ tṛtīyaṃ caturthamiti|
dravyabhedānahaṃ tasyāḥ pravakṣyāmi yathāgamam||
dravyabhedastu dhyānajāteścaturvidhāyāḥ samāpattijāteśca tāvatyā eva samāsena vakṣyāmi||
tatra tāvat|
[536] sahārūpyacatuṣṭvena samāpattirmatāṣṭadhā|
[catuḥ pañceṣu skandheṣu] [ta] duktervargavṛttitaḥ||
pañcaskandheṣu vargībhūteṣu dhyānasamāpattiḥ prajñāpyate| catu[:]pañceṣvārūpyasamāpattiriti||
[537] bhedena tu samāpattidravyāni(ṇi) daśa sapta ca|
sāmantakaiḥ sahāṣṭābhirdhyānāntarikayā'pi ca||
aṣṭāṇāṃ(nāṃ) khalu samāpattibhūmīnāmaṣṭāṇā(nā)meva sāmantakadravyāṇāṃ tatpraveśopāyabhūtāni dhyānāntarikā ca prathamadhyānasaṃgṛhītā| etāni khalu saptadaśa yathāsthaulyaṃ bhidyamānāni saptadaśa bhavantītyata āha-
[538] tadbhedāḥ khalvime'nyepi vakṣyante śāstracoditāḥ|
anye'pi khalu samāpattibhedāstadantargatā eva sūtrābhidharmoditā vakṣyante|
buddhabuddhestu te sarve tattvenāyānti gocaram||
bhagavāneba hi sarvaprathamadhyānasamāpattyādibhedeṣu, anantasvabhāvaprabhāvakriyāphaleṣvaparokṣabuddhivṛddhi(tti)riti||
ta ete dhyānārūpyāstriprakārāḥ katham ? tadārabhyate-
[539] tridhā dhyānāni maulāni sāsvādādiprabhedataḥ|
tathaiva traya ārūpyā bhavāgraṃ tu dvidhā matam||
tatra maulāni tāvad dhyānāni traividhyānyāsvādanāsaṃprayuktaśuddhakānāsravabhedāt| evaṃ trayo maulā ārūpyāḥ| bhavāgraṃ tu nāstyanāsravam| kāmadhātorbhavāgrasya ca bhavamūlatvāt||
[540] sāmantāni dvidhā sapta prathamaṃ tu tridhā matam|
dhyānāntaraṃ tridhā tadvadakliṣṭaṃ tvadharāśrayam||
prathamadhyānasāmantaṃ hitvā'nyāni sapta sāmantāni dviprakārānya(ṇya)nyatrānāsravāt| prathamadhyānasāmantakaṃ tu triprakāram| kecittu āsvādanāsaṃprayuktaṃ necchanti| tadvad dhyānāntarikā tridheti vartate| yattatrākliṣṭaṃ tadadharāśrayaṃ dravyamiti||
kiṃ punareṣāmāsvādanādisaṃprayuktānāṃ trayāṇāṃ lakṣaṇam ? ucyate-
[541] āsvādavatsatṛṣṇaṃ yacchaddhakaṃ laukikaṃ matam|
ado(dho?)dhvastaṃ tadāsvādyamatilokamanāsravam||
yatkhalu satṛṣṇaṃ tadāsvādanāsaṃprayuktamityucyate| tṛṣṇāyā ā[svādapa]ryāyatvāt| yattu na saṃprayuktaṃ tadapi tṛṣṇāsahagatatvādāsvādavadityucyate tṛṣṇayaikaphalatvāt| yattu sāsravaṃ kuśalaṃ samāpattidravyaṃ tacchuddhakamākhyāyate| kleśamalāsaṃparkādalobhādiśukladharmayogācca|
tadetacchuddhakaṃ tasyāsvādanāsaṃprayuktasyāsvādyam| tena hi tatsamanantarātītamāsvādyate| yenāsvādayati tamāpanno yadāsvādayati tasmādvyutthitaḥ| anyonyasaṃsargādi(ddhi) tṛṣṇāsamādhyornnāmanirvṛti(tiḥ)| tṛṣṇāvaśātsamādherāsvāda nāma, samādhivaśāttṛṣṇāyāḥ dhyānā(na) nāma, [a]nyathā vipratiṣiddhaṃ syāt| na hi kaścittṛṣṇāṃ samāpadyate, na ca samādhinā''svādayatoti| lokottaraṃ tu samāpattidravyamanāsravamityucyate||
āsāṃ punaḥ samāpattīnāṃ dhyānānyevāṅgavarti nārūpyāḥ| kati punaḥ kasya dhyānasyāṅgāni ? tadidaṃ prastūyate-
[542] aṅgānyādye śubhe pañca vitarkaścittasūkṣmatā|
prītiḥ sukhaṃ samādhānaṃ kliṣṭaṃ sukhavivarjitam||
prathame tāvacchubhe dhyāne pañcāṅgāni vitarkavicāraprītisaukhyasamādhayaḥ| kliṣṭe catvāri sukhaṃ hitvā||
[543] sādhyātmasaprasādāstu sukhaprītisamādhayaḥ|
dvitīye'ṅgāni catvāri kliṣṭe śraddhā sukhādṛte||
dvitīye kuśale dhyāne catvāryaṅgāni| ādhyātmasaṃprasādaḥ prītiḥ sukhaṃ cittaikāgratā ca kliṣṭe dve śraddhā sukhaṃ hitvā||
[544] tṛtīye pañcame prajñā smṛtyupekṣā sukhaṃ sthitiḥ|
kliṣṭe tvaṅgadvayaṃ jñeyaṃ samādhirvedanāsukham||
tṛtīye śubhe dhyāne upekṣā smṛtiḥ saṃprajñānaṃ sukhaṃ samādhiśca| kliṣṭe tu dve ‘samādhirvedanāsukham’||
[545] anye(ntye) catvāryupekṣe dve samādhiḥ smṛtireva ca|
kliṣṭe dhyāne caturthe tu dve aṅge vedanā sthitiḥ||
caturthe khalu dhyāne śubhe catvāryaṅgāni| aduḥkhāsukhāvedanā upekṣā ca smṛtipariśuddhiḥ samādhiśca| kliṣṭe tu dve vedanā sthitiśca||
kati punareṣāṃ dravyato bhavanti kati nāmataḥ ?
[546] dravyātmanā daśaikaṃ ca nāmnā tvaṣṭau daśaiva ca|
aṅgānyetāni kathyante catuṣkoṭirataḥ smṛtaḥ||
dravyataḥ khalvekādaśa bhavanti| prathame dhyānāṅgāni pañca| dvitīye'dhyātmasaṃprasādo vardhate| tṛtīye samādhivarjyāni vardhante| caturthe tvaduḥkhāsukhāvedaneti|
nanu ca yat tṛtīye dhyāne sukhamuktaṃ [tathā] prathamadvitīyayoḥ..........

[547] śamathasya ca|
dhyānasāmantakārūpyeṣvaṅgānāmavyavasthitiḥ||
dhyānasāmantakeṣu khalu vidarśa[nodṛktā] śamatho nyūnaḥ| ārūpyeṣu sarvatra śamatho'dhikavṛttirvipaśyanā nyūnatarā| vipaśya paśyato saṃjñāyāmiti vacanādaṅginyapi paścāduddeśo bhavati| tataḥ siddhaṃ vipaśyanāḥ||
yadā khalu catvāryapi dhyānāni vipākaṃ prati neñjante kasmāccaturthamevānejyamucyate ? tatrāpadiśyate-
[548] vitarkacāravidhvaṃsātpraśvāsāśvāsasaṃkṣayāt|
[upe]kṣāveditābhāvādantyamānejyamucyate||
trīṇi khalvapi dhyānāni señjitānyuktāni bhagavatā vitarkādyapakṣālayogāt| vitarkavicārāśvāsapraśvāsau sukhaduḥkhasaumanasyadaurmaṇa(na)syānītyaṣṭāpakṣālāḥ| taiścaturthaṃ dhyānamakampyamityuktamabhidharme| vitarkavicāraprītisukhairakampanīyatvādānejyaṃ caturthamuktaṃ sūtre| ābhiprāyikaḥ sūtranirdeśo lākṣaṇikastvabhidharme| tathāhi “sukhaduḥkhayoḥ prahāṇātsaumanasyadaurmaṇa(na)syayoścāstaṅgamāccaturthaṃ dhyānamupasampadya viharati” ityuktam| abhidharme vitarkavicāraprītisukhānyeveñjitam||
idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| iha dhyānasamāpattiṣu prathamadvitīyayordhyānayoḥ saumanasyamuktaṃ prītivacanāt| prītirhi saumanasyam| tṛtīye sukhaṃ caturthe upekṣā| tatkiṃmupapattidhyāneṣvapyeṣa eva vedanāniyamaḥ ? netyucyate| kiṃ tarhi ?
[549] ādye prītisukhopekṣā dvitīye tu sukhādṛte|
sukhopekṣe tṛtīye'ntye upekṣaiva vidiṣyate||
prathamadhyānopapattau khalu tisro vedanāḥ| sukhaṃ trivijñānakāyikaṃ, saumanasyaṃ manobhaumamupekṣā caturvijñānakāyikī| dviṃtīyaghyānopapattau dve vedane saumanasyopekṣe manobhūmike| nātra sukhamasti pañcavijñānakāyābhāvāt| tṛtīyadhyānopapattau dve vedane manobhūmike| caturthadhyānopapattāvupekṣaiva vedanā vidyata iti||
nanu ca dvitīyādiṣu dhyāneṣu rūpaśabdaspraṣṭavyānāmupalabdhayaḥ santi vijñaptisamutthāpakaṃ ca cittam| tatkathaṃ tatra trivijñānakāyikā vedanā nāstītyucyate, vitarkavicārau ceti ? naiṣa doṣaḥ| svabhūmikapratiṣedhāt| kutastena tarhi rūpādayo vijñāyante ka yavijñaptiścotthāpyate ? tadapadiśyate-
[550] dṛkchrotrakāyavijñānaṃ vijñaptijanakaṃ tathā|
yadbhūmāvavicārāyāmādyādavyākṛtaṃ tu tat||
dvitīyadhyānopapannāḥ khalu rūpaśabdaspraṣṭavyānyupalipsavo jigamiṣavo prathamadhyānabhūmikāni cakṣuvijñānādīni trīṇi vijñānāni vijñaptisamutthāpakaṃ ca saṃmukhīkṛtya nirmāṇacittavadupalabhante spandante ceti| tatpunaḥ prathamadhyānabhūmikaṃ cittamavyākṛtameva saṃmukhīkurvanti na kuśalaṃ nyūnenābahumānatvānna kliṣṭaṃ vītarāgatvāt| tadyathā kaścidīśvaro daridramitragṛhaṃ gataḥ| tenāsau suhṛdā sarvasvapradānenopanimantrito mitracittānuvartanayā hīnotkṛṣṭaṃ vastu hitvā yatkiñcid gṛhṇīte tadvaditi| vyākhyātasvarūpāṇi dhyānāni||
ārūpyāḥ vaktavyāḥ| tadārabhyate-
[551] khanimittodgrahākṛṣṭaḥ proktānantamanaskṛtiḥ|
visarvarūpa ārūpya ākāśānantyasaṃjñakaḥ||
anantākāśanimittodgrahaḥ tatsaṃjñāpravṛttinimittaṃ paścāttu catuḥskandhālambanāstadanyatamālambanā anyadharmālambanā vā manaskārāḥ saṃmukhībhāvaṃ gacchanti| uktaṃ hi bhagavatā-“sarvvaśo rupasaṃjñānāṃ samatikramātpratidhasaṃjñānāmastagamānnānātvasaṃjñānāmamanasikārādanantamākāśamānantyayāyatanamupasampadya viharati” iti|
kaḥ punarāsāṃ tisṛṇāṃ rūpādisaṃjñānāṃ viśeṣaḥ ? [prapañca]rūpasaṃjñābhiratra viśeṣo boddhavyaḥ| tadasmādāgamādvividhādyā rūpyā(pā)rūpa(pya)skandhāḥ saṃgṛhītāḥ| tatra samāpattilakṣaṇā cittānuparivartiṇā(nā) śīlena viyutā śeṣenopapatti lakṣaṇāt| ta eta ārūpyāḥ prathamārūpyasāmantakaṃ hitvā vibhūtarūpasaṃjñā bhavanti| prathamasāmantakaṃ tu caturthaghyānāvidū[ṣitavṛttitvādgāḍha]bandha miti| atastadekaṃ na vibhūtarūpasaṃjñākhyaṃ labhate|
kathaṃ punarnirdhāryate nārūpyeṣu rūpamastīti ? āgamādyuktitaśca| āgamastāvat-“sarvaśo rūpasaṃjñānāṃ samatikramāt” ityāviṣkṛtamidam| anyadāptavacanam-“arūpiṇaḥ santi sattvāḥ" iti| īṣadrūpatvādarūpiṇonudarā kanyāvaditi cet| na| sarvaśa ityapadeśāt, niḥsaraṇokteśca| uktaṃ hi “rūpāṇāṃ niḥsaraṇamārūpyāḥ” iti| yathā hi “yat kiñcidabhisaṃskṛtamabhisaṃviditaṃ nirodhastasya niḥsaraṇam|” nirodhe khalu sarvasaṃskṛtaviyogo'myupagamyate| na hi mūrtivigrahalakṣaṇo mokṣaḥ tatpravṛttinirodhitvāt|
yuktirapi| rūpāśrayādīnyavadhūya svodvegamukhena tadāśrayāddasyūpadrutatadviyuktadeśāśrayavat| uktastarhyārūpyebhyo rūpirū(ṣū)papadyamānānāṃ rūpamutpadyate hetupratyayādhipatipratyayabalāt, nāmarūpasyānyonyahetutvācca| tatra sabhāgavipākahetvoreva tayorapyastitvāt kāraṇatvaṃ rūpapratyayeṇa(na) ca vijñānotpattidarśanāt, cittaviśeṣotpādāt mahābhūtendriyaprasādādirūpotpattidarśaṇā(nā)ccānyonyahetutvasiddhiḥ||
uktaḥ prayogaprathamārupyaḥ| dvitīyo'pyucyate-
[552] tadvaccittavibhutvekṣī vijñānānantyalakṣaṇaḥ|
ākāṣā(śā)nantyasaṃjñādveṣī tadālambanānantyavijñānāghimokṣābhimukhabuddhiranantaṃ vijñānānantyāyatanamupasampadya viharati| atrāpi paścāccatu[:]skandhālambanāstadanyataskandhālambanā śāśvatadharmālambanāśca manaskārāḥ saṃmukhībhavanti| tadvikṣiptasaṃjñakaḥ
[vijñānānantyadveṣī ca] akiñcanyāhvayaḥ punaḥ||
sa khalu yogī vijñānānantyasaṃjñādveṣī tatrākiñcanasaṃjñitvādākiñcanyāyatanamupasampadya viharati| athavā nāsti kiñciṃdupekṣāprayoganiṣpattirākiñcanyāyatanamityucyate| anantākāraudārikadarśano hi tadviveke saṃjñāvimokṣaḥ pravartate| ata evākiñcanyāyatana(naṃ) paramopekṣetyucyate| yasmāttatrānantākārānabhisaṃcetanā cetaso'nābhogatā saṃtiṣṭhate||
[553] tadvittūcchedaśaṅkī ca na saṃjñāsaṃjñasaṃjñakaḥ|
sa khalu saṃkṣiptāmapi vibhutvasaṃjñāṃ saṃjñāśalya iti kṛtvā tāmalpāmapi vispaṣṭaparicchinnarūpāṃ saṃjñāmutsṛjyocchedaśaṅkī ca vispaṣṭarūpāṃ satīṃ naivasaṃjñaṃ nāsaṃjñamupasampadyate| ato naivasaṃjñānāsaṃjñāyatanaṃ samāpadyate| na saṃjñāveditanirodhaṃ nāpi vispaṣṭāṃ pūrvasamāpattisaṃjñām| sarvaiṣu cārūpyeṣu
ādau tathā prayuktatvā[t] tatsaṃjñā vyava(pa)diśyate||
na tu tanmātrasaṃjñā evārūpyā ityāviṣkṛtametatpūrvameveti| vyākhyātāni maulānyaṣṭau samāpattidravyāṇi||
sāmantakānāṃ punarādidhyānasāmantakasyānāgamyākhyasya kiṃ rūpam ? tadapadiśyate-
[554] savitarkavicāraṃ yatsāpekṣaṃ sānuvartakam|
cittamāryetarākāraṃ tadānāgamyamucyate||
yatkhalu prathamamauladhyānapraveśopāyacittaṃ savitarkaṃ savicāramupekṣāvedanāsaṃprayuktaṃ sānupariva[rtakaṃ]...............

[555] catvāro dhyāyinaḥ proktāścaturdhyāna[vi]darśaṇā(nā)t|
sampadvipattisaṃjñāyā hānapakṣyādivedinaḥ||
catvāro hi dhyāyino bhagavatoktāḥ| “teṣāmekaḥ samāpattau vipattisaṃjñī, dvitīyo vipattau sampattisaṃjñī, tṛtīyaḥ sampattau sampattisaṃjñī, caturtho vipattau vipattisaṃjñī” iti| ete hānasthitiviśeṣotkarṣadhyānabhedadarśaṇa(na)yogāḥ(t) catvāro bhavanti||
kaḥ punarayaṃ dhyātā kāni vā dhyānadhyeyadhyānaphalāni ? tadāviṣkriyate-
[556] dhyātā proktastathā dhyeyaṃ dhyānaṃ dhyānaphalaṃ tathā|
sarvametaccatuṣṭayaṃ pūrvameva vistareṇābhihitam| bhavatastu
asiddheruktadoṣatvānnāstyātmādicatuṣṭayam||
na hi tavaitaccatuṣṭayaṃ siddham aupaniṣadasāṃkhyavaiśeṣikādiparikalpitapramātṛpramāṇaprameyapramāṇaphalāni pūrvamevoktadoṣāṇi||
kiṃ punaḥ karmānuṣṭhānānmokṣo bhavati, āhosvijjñānānuṣṭhānāditi ? tatra brūmaḥ-
[557] karmānuṣṭhānato mokṣo jñānānuṣṭhānatastathā|
vyāpāre sati sadbhāvādyāthātmyāvagamepi ca||
trīṇi khalu karmāṇi| dānaśīlabhāvanākhyānyanuṣṭhāya daśa ca jñānāni dharmasvasāmānyalakṣaṇasaṃmohapratipakṣabhūtānyanuṣṭhāya paraṃ brahma prāpnoti nānyatheti| tadetadāviṣkriyate-
[558] karma tvatra dvidhā jñeyaṃ puṇyāpuṇyakriyākriye|
tatra khalu
puṇyakriyā tridhā proktā viratistadvidhoditā||
karmādicintāyām||
[559] jñānaṃ tu naiṣṭhikaṃ jñeyaṃ yathāpūvaṃmudāhṛtam|
ato'nyadbhajate yastu khalīnaṃ carvayatyasau||
yastu manyate paśvādyālaṃba(bha)nādibhiḥ karmabhiḥ bhoktṛbhogyāntaraparijñānādibhiśca mokṣo bhavati sa vaktavyaḥ ‘khalīnaṃ carvayate(ti)|’ yasmāt
[560] parapīḍāpravṛttatvādvadhalobhānṛtādayaḥ|
apāyahetavo jñeyāḥ śreyodvāravibandhinaḥ||
hiṃsānṛtalobhādayo hi doṣāḥ kugatigamanahetavo na svargāpavargagamanopāyāḥ| śāstracoditā hiṃsā nādharma iti cet| na| śāstralakṣano(ṇā)parijñānāt| katham ? yasmāt
[561] yuktārthacodanād duḥkhatrāṇāddoṣānuśāsanāt|
śāstramityucyate'to'nyajjñeyaṃ vātikabhāṣitam||
yatkhalu pramāṇatrayaviruddhārthaṃ vākyam, yacca pāpakebhyaḥ karmebhyaḥ kugatigamanahetubhyo nivāraṇena trāyate, yacca rāgadveṣamohānanuśāsti tadvākyaṃ śāstramityucyate| nānyaditi| tasmādanyadanāptavacanam| na| vedamantrāṇāṃ viṣopaśamanasāmarthyadarśaṇā(nā)t| pratyakṣaṃ hi pramāṇaṃ balīyastatpūrvake ca dve pramāṇe trayīdharmābhihite pramāṇamiti| tatredaṃ pratyucyate-
[562] pārasīkādimantrāṇāṃ viṣotsadabalaṃ kvacit|
dṛśyate na tu sarvasminnariṣṭādyanivartaṇā(nā)t||
dṛṣṭaṃ hi sāmarthyaṃ pārasvī(sī)kaśabarakāpālikādimantrāṇāmapi na tu tairmantraiḥ pāpanāśo'bhyupagabhyate bhavadbhiḥ, na ca sarvasya viṣayaṃ(maṃ) praśamayanti; tadgatāriṣṭādīnāṃ(dinā) maraṇadarśaṇā(nā)t| yadi ca śāstracoditā hiṃsā mantrasāmarthyāddharmāṅgaṃ sampadyate kasmānna mantrasāmarthyādeva paśuṃ ghātayati ? kiṃ śastrapātanagalāmreḍakādyupakramānuṣṭhānena ? mantrasāmarthyādeva ca piṣṭakṛtapuroḍāśānāṃ svargagamanahetorapūrvasyābhivyaktirbhavatvalaṃ paśvādivadheneti| dṛṣṭaṃ ca mantrāṇāṃ viṣopaśamane sāmarthyaṃ na tu vināhārapānādibhiḥ kṣuttṛṣṇapraśamanādiṣu| evaṃ mantrāṇāṃ viṣopaśamane sāmarthyaṃ bhavatu| mā bhūtpāpavināśana iti|
yadapyucyate bhavadbhiḥ| vaitānakarmānuṣṭhātāro brāhmaṇā eva mokṣavartmanyadhikriyante netare varṇā iti tadapi ḍimbhābhihitameva satāṃ pratibhāti| yasmāt|
[563] rāgādyairdūṣyate cittaṃ śraddhādyaiśca viśudhyate|
viprasyāpi yatastasmād guṇavāneva mucyate||
tadyathauṣadhaṃ viśuddhakoṣṭhasyaivārogyaṃ janayati nolbanavātādidoṣasya| tasmādbhavyajātīyaḥ śraddhādiguṇaparibhāvitātmā kumbhakāro'pi mokṣavartmanyadhikriyate| na caturvedo rāgadveṣamohādidoṣośa(ra)rīkṛtacittabhūmiriti| alamatiprasaṅgena prakṛtameva prastūyatām| tadidamārabhyate-
[564] śuddhaṃ caturvidhaṃ hāṇa(na)bhāgīyādi yathākramam|
nyūnatulyabalotkṛṣṭanirmalānuguṇaṃ hi tat||
caturvidhaṃ khalu śuddhakaṃ hānabhāgīyaṃ sthitibhāgīyaṃ viśeṣabhāgīyaṃ nirvedhabhāgīyam evamārupyamanyatra bhavāgrāt| taddhi trividhaṃ viśeṣabhāgīyaṃ hitvā||
kiṃ puṇa(na)reṣāṃ lakṣaṇam ?
[565] kleśasvoparimasthānanīrajaskānuvarti vā|
yathākramaṃ khalu kleśotpattyanuguṇaṃ hānabhāgīyaṃ, svabhūmyanuguṇaṃ sthitibhāgīyamūrdhvabhūmyanuguṇaṃ viśeṣabhāgīyamanāsravānuguṇaṃ nirvedhabhāgīyam| tasmādanāsravamutpadyate|
athaiṣāṃ caturṇāṃ kati kasmādanantaramutpadyante ?
dve trīṇi trīṇi ca dve vā hāṇi(na)pakṣyādyanantaram||
hānabhāgīyasya khalvanantaraṃ dve utpadyete hāṇa(na)sthitibhāgīye| sthitibhāgīyasya trīṇyanyatra nirvedhabhāgīyāt| viśeṣabhāgīyasyāpi trīṇya[nya]tra hāṇa(na)bhāgīyāt| nirvedhabhāgīyānantaraṃ tadevaikamiti||
[566] vyutkrāntakasamāpattirarhato'kopyadharmaṇaḥ|
sa khalveṣārhato'kopyadharmaṇa eva niṣkleśatvātsamādhivaśitvācca| dṛṣṭiprāptasya yadyapi tīkṣṇendriyatvātsamādhau vaśitvaṃ na tu niṣkleśā santatiḥ| samayavimukto yadyapi niṣkleśo na tvasya samādhau vaśitvamiti|

tatprayogo dvidhā bhūmirgatvāgatya(mya)jigīṣayā||
[567] dharmabhūmyutkrameṇāṣṭau śuddhakākhyādanāsravam|
śuddhakācca tṛtīyaṃ svaṃ niṣṭhā śuddhācca nirmalam||
‘gatve’tyanulomamaṣṭau bhūmīḥ samāpadya| ‘āgamye’ti pratilome samāpadya| ‘dvidhe’ti sāsravānāsravā| ‘jigīṣaye’ti jayaṃ cikīrṣandharmabhūmyutkrameṇa jetukāmaḥ| śuddhakādanāsravaṃ ‘śuddhakācca tṛtīyaṃ svaṃ|’ ‘niṣṭhā’ tu śuddhādanāsravam| sa khalvevaṃ vijityānāsravāśca sapta paścātsāsravā prathamāddhyānātsāsravaṃ tṛtīyaṃ samāpadyate| tasmādākāśānantyāyatanaṃ tasmādākiñcanyāyatanamevaṃ punaḥ pratilomaṃ nirjityānāsravā apyekavilaṅghitā anulomaṃ pratilomaṃ ca samāpadyate| eṣa prayogo vyutkrāntasamāpatteḥ|
yadā tu prathamāḥ sāsravāḥ tṛtīyamanāsravaṃ dhyānaṃ samāpadyate tasmātsāsravamākāśānantyāyatanaṃ tasmādanāsravākiñcanyāyatanamevaṃ punaḥ pratilomam| tadā visabhāgatṛtīyadravyagamanādabhiniṣpannā bhavati| ativiprakṛṣṭatvānna caturthaṃ samāpadyate| tāṃ ca triṣu dvīpeṣu samāpadyate||
[568] svordhvā evopajanyante dhyānārūpyabhavaḥ śubhāḥ|
bhavāgrasthastvagatyādau nirmalāmavalambate||
bhavāgraṃ bhavāgre ca saṃmukhīkriyate| adhaśca yāvatkāmadhātorevaṃ śeṣāṇi svasyāṃ ca bhūmāvadhaśceti| ūrdhvo [papanno nādharāṃ samāpattiṃ saṃmu]khīkaroti vaiyarthyāt| na hi tatrānāsravo mārgo'sti saṃsāramūlatvāt| na ca vinā'nāsravena(ṇa) mārgeṇa tatratyāḥ kleśā hantuṃ śakyante| caitanyarūpaṃ puruṣamālambya tadvairāgyamiti cet| na| yuṣmatpuruṣasya kriyāvattve sattva(ttvā)nekatvaikatvopapatteḥ saṃsargidharmitvopapatteḥ buddhivaditi vijñānajñānopalabdhe ca..............................................ti||
kasya punardhyānasya prāptyā kataradbhāvyate ? tadanukramyate-
[569] bālādyadhyānasaṃprāptau laukikasyaiva bhāvanā|
yadā khala pṛthagjanaḥ prathamaṃ dhyānaṃ labhate tadāsyānāgataṃ laukikameva bhāvyate|
ūṣmādivarjye cālabdhe dhyānāntarasamudbhave||
caramabhavikasyoṣmādivarjite'.....................gikasvā(?)nucitam| tatra dhyānāntare prathamaṃ sāsravameva bhāvyate| ucite tu vairāgyalabdhatvānna bhāvyate| ūṣmagatādiṣu tu na bhāvyate| tānyeva dhyānāntarasaṃgṛhītāni bhāvyante prathamaṃ nānāgamyam||

anāsravenaiva(ṇai)va dhyānārūpyeṇa kleśāḥ prahīyante na kuśalena| kuta eva kliṣṭena ? vītarāgavannādhaḥ prahīyante tasyaiva tadapratipakṣatvāt, na svabhūmau viśiṣṭarata(tara)tvā[nnorddhvamiti| dhyānārūpyasāmantake]na śuddhakenāpi kleśāḥ prahīyante'dhobhūmipratipakṣatvāt||

dhyānāntare sa cārodhaḥ sadvayo'nyatra nirdvayaḥ|
“savitarkaḥ savicāraḥ samādhiḥ avitarko vicāramātro'vita[rko'vicāraḥ” iti| tatra dhyānāntaraṃ tāvadavita]rko vicāramātraḥ| satatodhaḥ savitarkaḥ savicāraḥ samāviḥ| paratastvavitarko[']vicāraśca||

dvayamālambate'śaikṣaṃ śūnyato'nityatastathā||
[585] kṣayamapratisaṃkhyākhyamantyo gṛhṇāti śāntataḥ|
śūnyatādyālambanatvāttannāma aśaikṣaṃ samādhiṃ dvāvaparasamādhī ālambete| śūnyatāśūnyatā aśaikṣaṃ śūnyatāsamādhimālambate śūnyākāreṇa| apraṇi[hitāpraṇihito'pyaśaikṣamapraṇihitam] anityākāreṇa| [na] duḥkhato na hetvādito'nāsravasya atallakṣaṇatvāt| na mārgākārairdūṣaṇīyatvāt| animittānimittatvāt samādhiraśaikṣasyānimittasyāpratisaṃkhyānirodhamālambate| śāntākāreṇānāsravasya pratisaṃkhyānirodhābhāvāt| na nirodhapraṇītaniḥsaraṇākārairaṇi(ni)tyatānirodhasādhāraṇatvādavyākṛtatvādavisaṃyogācca|

[586] samādhibhāvanādhyānaṃ sukhāya prathamaṃ śubham|
darśaṇā(nā)yākṣyabhijñoktā prajñābhedāya yātnikāḥ||
“catasraḥ khalu samādhibhāvanāḥ| asti samādhibhāvanā āsevitā bhāvitā bahulīkṛtā dṛṣṭadharmavihārāya saṃvartate” iti vistaraḥ| kuśalaṃ khalu prathamaṃ dhyānaṃ śuddhakamanāsravaṃ vā dṛṣṭadharmasukhavihārāya samādhibhāvanā| tadadhikatvā[t] anyānyapi jñeyāṇi(ni)| nāvaśyaṃ samparāyasukhavihārāyaḥ(ya), parihīṇordhvopapannaḥ pariṇi(ni)rvitatadabhāvāt| divyacakṣurabhijñādarśaṇā(nā)ya samādhibhāvanā| prayogajāḥ khalu sarve guṇāstraidhātukāṇā(nā)sravāḥ prajñāprabhedāya samādhibhāvanāt(nāḥ)||

yaścaturthe dhyāne vajropamaḥ samādhiḥ sa āsravakṣayāya samādhibhāvanā|
sūtraṃ caitatsamākhyātaṃ buddhenātmopanāyikam||
ataścaturthameva dhyānamuktamiti||
abhidharmapradīpe vibhāṣāprabhāyāṃ vṛttau aṣṭamasyādhyāyasya tṛtīyaḥ pādaḥ samāptaḥ||

nirdiṣṭāḥ samādhayaḥ| ataḥ paraṃ samādhisanniśritā gunā(ṇā) nirdiśyante|
apramānā(ṇā)ki catvāri maitrī karuṇā muditopekṣā ca| apramānā(ṇāḥ), sattvādhiṣṭhānapravṛtterapramāna(ṇa)puṇyanirvartakatvādaprameyeṣu phalahetutvācca|
athāpramāṇānāṃ kaḥ svabhāvaḥ ?
[588] caturṇāmapramāṇānāṃ maitryadveṣastathā kṛpā|
muditā prītirekeṣāmupekṣā'lobha iṣyate||
adveṣasvabhāvā maitrī| tathā karuṇā adveṣasvabhāvā| kastarhyetayorapramāna(ṇa)yorviśeṣaḥ ? ubhayoradveṣātmakatve'pi maitrī sattvāparityāgavartino dveṣasya pratipakṣo harṣākārapravṛttā ca| karuṇā tāḍanapīḍanābhiprāyavartiṇo(no) dveṣasya pratipakṣo dainyākārapravṛttā ca| ityasti viśeṣaḥ| “somanasyasvabhāvāmuditā” iti paurāṇāḥ| upekṣāpyalobhātmakaiva| eṣo'pramāṇānāṃ svabhāvaḥ|
kasmāccatvāryeva na nyūnānyadhikāni vā ?
[589] vyāpādasya vihiṃsāyā aratestṛḍdviṣastathā|
pratipakṣo'yamākhyāto damanārthaṃ svacetasaḥ||
sūtra uktam-“maitrī āsevitā bhāvitā bahulīkṛtā vyāpādaprahāṇāya saṃvartate| karuṇā vihiṃsāprahāṇāya| aratiprahāṇāya muditā kāmarāgavyāpādaprahāṇāyopekṣā||”
vṛttiḥ punardraṣṭavyā-
[590] sukhādhāne sukhā maitrī duḥkhanāśonmukhī kṛpā|
muditā modanānimnā sattvā ebhyeva paścimā||
[591] draṣṭavyā vṛttireteṣāṃ
ākārastu punaḥ kathaṃ pratipattavya iti| tadapadiśyate-
ākāraiḥ sukhitādi bhiḥ|
sukhitā vata santu sattvā iti manasi kurvan maitrīṃ samāpadyate| duḥkhitā vata sattvā iti karuṇām| modantāṃ vata sattvā iti muditām| sattvā ityeva manasi kurvannupekṣāṃ samāpadyate mādhyasthyāt|
ebhyastvanyatamenāpi brahmasāyujyamaśnute||
ebhyo'pramāṇebhya ekeṇā(nā)pi bhāvitena brahmatvaṃ pratilabhyata iti||
kimālambanā apramāṇāḥ, kati bhūmikā vetyapadiśyate-
[592] nṛṣu kāmāvalambīni ghyānayormuditābhya(hva)yoḥ|
ṣaḍbhaumāni tadā(da)nyāni kecidicchanti saptasu||
maitrīkaruṇāmuditāstrayaḥ kāmāvacarasattvālambanāḥ| upekṣā aniyatā iti| yeṣāṃ tāvadbhā[vanā]mayānyetāni muditā ca saumanasyendriyaṃ teṣāṃ prathamadvitīyayordhyānayormuditā| nordhvaṃ saumanasyendriyābhāvāt| anyāni trīṇyapramānā(ṇā)ni ṣaṭsu bhūmiṣvaṇā(nā)gamye dhyānāntare caturṣu dhyāneṣu| kecit punaḥ cintāmayānyapyetāni pramodyaṃ ca prīterdharmāntaraṃ [iti] teṣāṃ saptabhūmikā| prāmodyasya vedanādvayasaṃyogitvāt| uktānyapramānā(ṇā)ni||
atha kati vimokṣāḥ|
[593] vimokṣāḥ kathitā aṣṭau teṣāṃ dvāvaśubhātmakau|
tāvādyadhyānayorantye tṛtīyo'lobhalakṣaṇaḥ||
rūpī rūpāṇi paśyatīti prathamo vimokṣaḥ| ādhyātmamarūpasaṃjñī bahirdhā rūpāṇi paśyatīti dvitīyo vimokṣaḥ| śubhaṃ vimokṣaṃ kāyeṇa sākṣātkṛtvopasampadya viharatīti tṛtīyaḥ| teṣāṃ dvāvaśubhasvabhāvau prathamau tadākāratvād bhūmitaśca tau sasāmantakayoḥ prathamadvitīyayordhyānayordhyānāntare ca| sasāmantake caturthe dhyāne śubho vimokṣaḥ | ca cālobhasvabhāva eva na tvaśubhātmakaḥ, tacchubhākārapravṛttatvāt| saparivārāstvete pañcaskandhasvabhāvāḥ||
[594] catvāraḥ kuśalārūpā vimokṣākhyā samāhitāḥ|
nirodhākhyasamāpattirvimokṣaḥ kathito'ṣṭamaḥ||
catvāro'nye vimokṣāḥ samāhitāḥ kuśalā evārūpyāḥ draṣṭavyāḥ| saṃjñāveditanirodhastvaṣṭa[mo] vimokṣaḥ| vaimukhyārtho hi vimokṣārthaḥ, nirodhasamāpattiḥ; sarvasālambanapravṛttivaimukhyāt||
[595] tasyāstu saṃmukhībhāvaḥ sūkṣmasūkṣmāda[na]ntaram|
trividhaṃ hi bhāvāgrikaṃ cittaṃ saṃjñāsūkṣmasūkṣmākhyabhedāt| etadyathākramamaudārikam| ataḥ sūkṣmasūkṣmākhyaṃ bhavāgrānantaraṃ tāṃ samāpattiṃ samāpadyante| tathā samāpannānāṃ tu
vyutthānacittamapyasyāḥ svaṃ śuddhaṃ nirmalaṃ tvadhaḥ||
sāsravānāsravatvāt| tadvyutthānacittasya sāsravena(ṇa) cedvyuttiṣṭhate bhāvāgrikeṇa| anāsraveṇa cedākiñcanyāyatanabhūmikena||
athaiva vimokṣāḥ kiṃ viṣayāḥ ?
[596] kāmāvacaradṛśyārthā vimokṣāḥ prathamāstrayaḥ|
kāmāvacaraṃ rūpāvacarameṣāmālambanaṃ yathāyogamaśubhataḥ śubhataśca|
anye tvanvayadhīpakṣasvordhvaduḥkhādyavekṣiṇāḥ||
ārūpyavimokṣāṇāṃ svabhūmyūrdhvabhūmikaṃ duḥkhamālambanaṃ taddhetunirodhau ca| sarvacānvayajñānama(pa)kṣyo mārga ūrdhvādharabhūmisaṃgṛhītaḥ, apratisaṃkhyānirodhaśca| uktā vimokṣāḥ||
[597] sūtre'bhibhavasaṃjñākhyaṃ proktamāyatanāṣṭakam|
vimokṣādhikavṛttyetaccittaiśvaryapradarśakam||
sūtre bhagavatā aṣṭau abhibhvāyatanānyākhyātāni “adhyātmaṃ rūpasaṃjñī bahirdhā rūpāṇi paśyati suvarṇadurvarṇāni khalu rūpāṇi abhibhūya jānāti, abhibhūya paśyati, evaṃ saṃjñī ca bhavatīdaṃ prathamamabhibhvāyatanam| adhyātmaṃ rūpasaṃjñī bahirdhā rūpāṇi paśyatyapramāṇāni suvarṇadurvarṇānīti vistaro yāvadidaṃ dvitīyamabhibhvāyatanam| evamadhyātmamarūpasaṃjñī bahī rūpāṇi paśyati parīttānyapramāṇāni ceti catvāri| adhyātmamarūpasaṃjñyeva ca bahirdhā rūpāṇi paśyati nīlapītalauhitāvadāta.......”...............
