pañcamo'dhyāyaḥ|

prathamaḥ pādaḥ

uktāni karmāni(ṇa)| atha yadayaṃ lokaḥ pañcagati cakrāvartaparivartanimittāni karmāṇyācinoti, kāryāṇi cotsṛjyākāryakarmakārī bhavati, dakṣiṇaṃ ca mārgaṃ hitvā vāmaṃ vartmāśrayati, paramapraśāntaṃ ca paraṃ brahmāpāsyānekaduḥkhopadravanīḍabhūte saṃsāre janma pratipadyate tatra ko heturityabhidhīyate-

[259] akāryapravaṇo loko duḥkhabhāgī ca yadvaśāt|
rāgādīn bhavasaṃbandhānkleśānvakṣyāmi tānaham||

te punaḥ kleśāḥ

[260] svaśaktijakriyodbhūtairviśeṣaiste tu nāmabhiḥ|
āttasāmānyasaṃjñākāścodyante'nuśayādibhi[:]||

tatra tāvatsāmānyasaṃjñā svakriyānirjātāḥ kliśnantīti kleśāḥ anuśerata ityanuśayāḥ| ābhavāgramupādāya yāvadavīciṃ stravanti srāvayanti ca cittasantatimityāsravāḥ| āsravāniti pañcalakṣaṇo(ṇāna)tra saṃyojantīti saṃyojanāni| granthayantīti granthāḥ| yojayantīti yogāḥ| apaharantītyoghāḥ| upādadata ityupādānānyeṣāṃ sāmānyanāma kleśa iti||

tatra ke kiyanto vā'nuśayāḥ ? tadavadyotyate-

[261] rāgapratighasaṃmohamānakāṅkṣākudṛṣṭayaḥ|
ṣaḍete'nuśayāḥ proktāḥ śreyodvāravibandhinaḥ||

ete khalu ṣaḍanuśayāḥ saṃsārapravṛttihetavaḥ śreyomārgavivandhinaśca śāstra uktāḥ| teṣāṃ niruktiḥ santānānugatā ityanuśayāḥ dhātrocailamalavat| anubadhnantīti vā'nuśayāḥ, khavarajalacaravat| ta ete vṛttitaśca draṣṭavyāḥ, hiṅgvādibhakṣaṇavat| phalataśca pārāvatabhujaṅgasūkarajanmāpātanavat| pudgalataśca nandāṅgulimālasunakṣatrādivat||

atha rāgādayo'nuśayāḥ kathaṃ draṣṭavyāḥ ? kiṃ rāgādaya evānuśayāḥ, āhosvidrāgādīnāmanuśayāḥ ? kiñcātaḥ| rāgādaya evānuśayāścetsūtravirodhaḥ- “ihaikatyo na kāmarāgaparyavasthitena cetasā bahulaṃ viharatyutpannasya kāmarāgaparyavasthāne(na)syottare(ra)ṇi(ni)ssaraṇaṃ yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti| tasya tatkāmarāgaparyavasthānaṃ sthāmaśaḥ samyaksusaṃvahataṃ sānuśayaṃ prahīyate” iti| rāgādīnāmanuśayā iti cedviprayuktānuśayaprasaṅgādabhidharmavirodhaḥ- “kāmarāgānuśayastribhirindriyaissaprayuktaḥ” iti| karmadhāraya eva parigṛhyate na ṣaṣṭhīsamāsa iti vaibhāṣikāḥ| nanu coktaṃ sūtravirodha iti| sānuśayaṃ sānubandhamityarthaḥ| aupacāriko vā sūtre'nuśayaśabdaḥ prāpto(ptau) yathā duḥkho'gniriti| lākṣaṇikastvabhidharme kleśa evānuśayaḥ| tasmāsaṃprayuktā evānuśayāḥ|

“evaṃ tu sādhu yathā dārṣṭāntikānām” iti kośakāraḥ| kathaṃ ca dārṣṭāntikānām ? “kāmarāgasyānuśayaḥ kāmarāgānuśayaḥ | na cānuśayaḥ saṃprayukto na viprayuktaḥ; tasyādravyāntaratvāt| supto hi kleśo'nuśayaityucyate| prabuddhaḥ paryavasthānam| kā ca tasya prasuptiḥ ? asaṃmukhībhūtasya bījabhāvānubandhaḥ| kaḥ praboadhaḥ ? saṃmukhībhāvaḥ| ko'yaṃ vījabhāvo nāma ? ātmabhāvasya kleśajaṃ(jā) kleśotpādakaśaktiḥ, yathā cāṅkurādīnāṃ śāliphalajā śāliphalotpādanaśaktiḥ” iti|

yattarhi sūtra eva kleśo'nuśaya uktaḥ ṣaṭṣaṭke-“so'sya bhavati sukhāyāṃ vedanāyāṃ rāgānuśayaḥ” iti ? bhavatīti vacanādadoṣaḥ| nāso tade (dai)vānuśayaḥ| kadā tarhi ? yadā prasupto bhavati| | hetau vā phalopacāra eṣaḥ” iti|

tadetatsautrāntikairantargataṃ buddhavacananītiśravaṇakausīdyamāvirbhāvyate| katham ? uktottaratvāt| uktamatra karmacintāyāmuttaraṃ tattvasaptatau ca| tatsmaryatām| mā pramoṣīḥ|

punaścāpadiśyate| sautrāntikaparikalpite pratibījakalpe cittaśaktibījabhāvanāpakṣe nivṛttyuttaramanyānanyatvādidoṣāt| nānyānanya iti bījavāsanāvasthāne cittavināśābhyupagame ca madhyamāpratipatsiddhiriti cet| na| cittasvabhāvaśaktikriyābhāve tadantadvayāsiddhau madhyamāpratidanupapatteḥ khapuṣpamayadaṇḍavat|

te punaḥ

[262] rāgadvedhāt matāḥ sapta dṛṣṭibhedāddaśa smṛtāḥ|
bhūyo'ṣṭānavatirjñeyā dhātvākārādibhedataḥ||

tatra kāyarāgabhavarāgabhedaṃ purastādvakṣyate| dṛṣṭibhedo'pi satkāyadṛṣṭyādibhedena pañcadhā| rāgabhedaṃ ca dvidhā vakṣyāmaḥ| te punarete sarva evānuśayā yathāsaṃbhavaṃ dhātvākāraprakārabhedenāṣṭānavatirbhavanti|

tatra kecitpaṇḍitā darśayanti| dhātubhedena kāmāvacarāḥ ṣaḍtriṃśaddarśaṇa(na)bhāvanāheyāḥ| dvātriṃśaddarśanaheyāḥ| rūpāvacarā ekatriṃśadubhayaheyāḥ, aṣṭāviṃśatirdarśanaheyāḥ pañca pratighavarjyāḥ| evamārūpyāvacarāḥ|

tatra kathaṃ kāmāvacarāḥ ṣaḍtriṃśadbhavanti ? darśanabhāvanāheyaprakāraṇai(nai)yamya[bhedāt]| dṛṣṭīnāmapidhātvākāraprakārabhedāt ṣaḍtriṃśatvam| pratighasya dhātunaiyamyāt pañcatvam| vayaṃ punareṣāṃ bhedaṃ ślokānugatameva darśayiṣyāmaḥ|

tatra katyeṣāmaṣṭānavateranuśayāṇāṃ duḥkhadarśanaheyāḥ kati yāvadbhāvanāheyāḥ ? tatra kāmadhātau tāvat| pratiduḥkhādisatyaṃ yathākramaṃ daśa sapta saptāṣṭau duḥkhādidarśaṇa(na)heyā dvātriṃśatkāmaghātau bhavanti| teṣu teṣāṃ vipratipatteḥ| evaṃ rūpārūpyadhātvorabhyuhya vaktavyam||

[263] kāmarāgo bhavākhyaśca dvidhāḥ rāgaḥ prabhidyate|
prāyo bahiṣpravṛttatvādantarvattyādibhedataḥ||

yathākramam| ukto rāgabhedaḥ|

dṛṣṭibhedo nirdiśyate-

[264] satkāyāntadvayagrāhau mithyādarśaṇa(na)meva ca|
dṛṣṭiśīlavratāmarśāvityetāḥ pañca dṛṣṭayaḥ||

te punarete prabhidyamānā dhātuprakārākārabhedenāṣṭānavatirbhavanti| ṣaṭtriṃśatkāmāvacarāḥ| ekatriṃśadrūpāvacarāḥ| ekatriṃśadārūpyāvacarāḥ| darśanā(na)bhāvanāheyaprakāraṇai(nai)yamyāt||

kati punarebhyaḥ kāmadhātau darśanaheyāḥ kati yāvadbhāvanāheyāḥ ? tadavadyotyate-

[265] daśeha duḥkhadṛggheyāḥ

sarve'pi daśeha kāmadhātau duḥkhe vipratipannatvādduḥkhadarśanaheyāḥ|

sapta hetvīkṣaṇakṣayāḥ|

ebhyo daśabhyaḥ satkāyāntargrāhadṛṣṭiśīlavrataparāmarśatrayaṃ hitvā|

saptāpavargadṛggheyāḥ

eta eva

aṣṭau mārgekṣaṇakṣayāḥ||

satkāyāntargrāhadṛṣṭī hitvā| te'pi phalabhūteṣu skandheṣu vipratipanna[tvā]dduḥkhadarśanaheyaiva|

[266] dṛṣṭiheyāvalambitvātsadākāraparigrahāt|
rāgādayastu catvāro jñeyā mārgadvayakṣayāḥ||

te darśanaprahātavyāsteṣāṃ caturṇāṃ rāgādīnāṃ yasmādālambanamatastatprahāṇātteṣāmapi prahāṇaṃ stambhanipātādupastambhanipātanavat| ye tu rāgādayaścatvāraḥ svalakṣaṇakleśāste bhāvanāprahātavyā draṣṭavyā rāgapratighamānāvidyāḥ||

atra punaḥ
[267] pratikalpavaśotpatterdṛṣṭikāṅkṣe tu dṛkkṣaye|

avidyamāne khalu vastunyete skandheṣu viparītasaṃdehākāragrahaṇaṃ kṛtvā pravartete| tasmādete darśaṇa(na)heye cetoddhāṭanamātreṇa sāradravyāstistva(tva)saṃdevā(hā)pagamavat|

rūpepyevaṃ tathā'rūpye pratighānuśayādṛte||

yathā kāmadhātau proktāḥ, rūpārūpyadhātvorapyevaṃ draṣṭavyāḥ| pratighānuśayaṃ varjayitvā| tatra hi śamathasnigdhasantānatvātpratighanimittābhāvācca pratighānuśayo nāsti|

tatra satkāyāntargrāhadṛṣṭī ekaprakāre duḥkhadarśaṇa (na)mātraheyatvāt| mithyādṛṣṭidṛṣṭiparāmarśavicikitsāḥ pratyekaṃ catuṣprakārāḥ, catussatyadarśaṇa(na)heyatvāt| śīlavrataparāmarśo dviprakāro duḥkhamārgadarśanaheyatvāt| rāgādayaḥ pañcaprakārāḥ, catussatyadarśanabhāvanāheyatvāt| ta ete kāmadhātau ṣaṭtriṃśadbhavanti| rūpadhātāvekatriṃśadārūpyadhātāvekatriṃśaditi samastā daśanabhāvanāheyā aṣṭānavatirbhavanti| tebhyaḥ punaraṣṭāśīti darśanaprahātavyāḥ| daśa bhāvanāprahātavyāḥ||

atha ya ete'ṣṭāśītiranuśayā darśanaprahātavyāḥ kimete darśanamārgeṇaiva prahīyante ? netyāha| kiṃ tarhi ?

[268] bhavāgre kṣāntiheyā ye dṛggheyā eva te matāḥ|

te hyekāntenānvayakṣāntivadhyāḥ|

jñānavadhyāstu ye tasminnabhyāsenaiva tatkṣayaḥ||

evamanyāsvapi bhūmiṣu ye'nuśayā jñānavadhyāsta āryāṇāṃ pṛthagjanānāṃ ca bhāvanāmārgeṇaiva prahīyante| śeṣāstūbhayathā| yathāyogaṃ śeṣāsu khalu bhūmiṣu yathāsaṃbhavaṃ dharmānvayakṣāntibadhyā anuśayā āryāṇāṃ darśanaheyāḥ, pṛthagjanānāṃ ca bhāvanāheyā iti boddhavyam||

atha yā imāḥ pañca dṛṣṭayo dhātvākāraprakārabhedena ṣaṭtriṃśaddhā bhinnāstāsāṃ pratyekaṃ kaḥ svabhāvaḥ ? tadārabhyate -

[269] ahaṃ mameti yā dṛṣṭirasau satkāyadṛk smṛtā|
taducchedadhruvagrāhau yau sāntargrāhadṛṅmatā||

hetubalasāmarthyādasacchāstraśravaṇācca pṛthagjanasyāhaṃ mamemi pañcasūpādānaskandheṣu ya ātmagrāhaḥ sā satkāyadṛṣṭirityucyate| sati sīdati vā kāye dṛṣṭirviparītākārā satkāyadṛṣṭiriti [ni]rvacanam| saiṣātmātmīyākārabhedā[d]dviprakārā| punaḥ pañcaskandhālambanāḥ pañcātmadṛṣṭayo bhavanti| pañcadaśātmīyadṛṣṭayaḥ| tāḥ samastā viṃśatikoṭikā satkāyadṛṣṭiriti vyākhyāyate|

tayorgṛhītasya viparyāsenātmākhyasyāsadvastuno'satpuruṣasaṃsargānnityatvagrāho vā nityatvagrāheṇa vā sā'ntargrāhadṛṣṭiriti||

[270] phalahetvapavādo yaḥ sā mithyādṛṣṭirucyate|

phalahetugrahaṇe vastukriyāgrahaṇaṃ pratyetavyam| anena śāstraproktayā mithyādṛṣṭeḥ sākalyena grahaṇaṃ pratyetavyam|

jñeyo dṛṣṭiparāmarśaḥ hīnavastūttamagrahaḥ||

[271] ahetāvapathe caiva taddhi śīlavratāhvayaḥ|

sarvaṃ khalu sāsravaṃ vastu hīnārhatvāddhīnam| ādigrahaṇaśabdasya cātra lopo draṣṭavyaḥ| dṛṣṭyādiparāmarśo dṛṣṭiparāmarśaḥ| catasro dṛṣṭīḥ pratyavaraṃ ca vastvagrato gṛhṇāti kathamagryeyaṃ dṛṣṭiḥ ? yeyamātmadṛṣṭiḥ-ātmānamahaṃ pūjayiṣyāmi vāsudevo'tra pūjito bhaviṣyatīti hīnapuruṣaṃpañcopādānaskandhātmakamagrataḥ pratipadyate| nāsti dattaṃ yathāsukhaṃ pravartiṣyata ityevamādiḥ|

akāraṇe kumārge ca kāraṇamārgagrahaṇaṃ śīlavrataparāmarśaḥ| tadyathā prakṛtīśvarapuruṣādihetukaṃ pañcopādānaskandhātmakaṃ na tṛṣṇāhetukamityakāraṇe kāraṇadarśaṇa(nam)| kumārgaṃ cāgnijalapraveśādau prakṛtipuruṣāntarajñānādau ca svargāpavargahetutvam|

śīlaṃ tvatrāgnihotrānuṣṭhānaṃ pratijuhotyādyāstistro'ntaraṅgakriyāḥ, paśvālambhanādyāḥ bahiraṅgāḥ, tadubhayasya yāvajjīvamanuṣṭhānaṃ śīlam| yathoktam- “jarāmaryaṃ vaitatsatraṃ yadagnihotraṃ juhoti” iti|

vratam-āgneyamagniparicaraṇaṃ śaukramāpo hi ṣṭhādyanuṣṭhānam apāṃ śukradaivatyatvāt| vārhaspatyaupaniṣadagodānīyaṃ jaṭāvatāraṇam| athavā govratādīni vratānyebhiḥ śudhyate mucyata ityāhuḥ|

trayīdharma(rmā)ṇasta eva te hariharahiraṇyagarbhādayo na kāraṇamupādānaskandhātmakatvāt| na ca nityāḥ, na cāgryā ityetadvistareṇāviṣkṛtam| paśvā(śvā)lambhanāgnijalapraveśādayaśca na svargāpavargahai(he)turdānaśīlabhāvanānāṃ taddhetutvāt| ityato viparītadarśaṇa(na)metacchīlavrataparāmarśaḥ pravartate, prāptastarhi samudayadarśanaprahātavyaḥ ? naitadasti| yasmādasau

duḥkhabhrāntyapathādānāttadṛṣṭyutsārya eva saḥ||

duḥkhabhūteṣūpādānaskandheṣu hariharahiraṇyagarbhādiṣvakāraṇeṣu buddhyā bhrāntaḥ| tasmādyatraiva bhrāntastatraivāviparītadarśaṇā(na)tprahīyate| kāpathe ca satpathabuddhyā bhrānta iti samyaksvamārgadarśaṇā(nā)tprahīyate| iti siddhaṃ dvidarśaṇa(na)heyaḥ śīlavrataparāmarśaḥ|

[272] satkāyadṛṣṭyavacchedo dharmamātrekṣaṇādyataḥ|
duḥkhābhisamaye tacca taddṛggheyaiva so'pyataḥ||

yadā khalvasya dharmeṣu gharmamātrabuddhirutpannā bhavatyanityāḥ, duḥkhāḥ, śūnyāḥ, anātmānaśca dharmā iti tadaiva satkāyadṛṣṭyavacchedo bhavati, tatpravartitā cāntargrāhadṛṣṭiḥ, tatropāttasyā api samudghāta iti| tatra dharmadarśa[na]manityādyanyatamākāraṃ yasmādduḥkhābhisamayamātrādbhavatyata etad dṛṣṭidvayaṃ dukhadarśanaheyameveti siddham||

atha ya ete catvāro viparyāsāḥ- “anitye nityam” evamādayaste kiṃ svabhāvāḥ ? tadārabhyate-

[273] dvayaṃ dṛṣṭiparāmarśādekaḥ satkāyadṛṣṭitaḥ|
antargrāhārdhamanyastu viparyāsaḥ prakalpyate||

tatra tavat| dṛṣṭiparāmarśātsukhaśuciviparyāsau prakalpya(lpye)te| satkāyadṛṣṭerātmadṛṣṭiviparyāsaḥ, antargrāhadṛṣṭyardhā[t]nityaviparyāsaḥ prakalpyata iti| nanu satkāyadṛṣṭerardhātprāpnoti ? na| dṛṣṭyantaratvāt| śāśvatadṛṣṭerucchedadṛṣṭirdṛṣṭyantaram| puruṣameva ta (tu) svatantraṃ kartāraṃ vaśinamātmavādī manyamāno mamedamityabhyupagacchati tasmādātmadṛṣṭirevāsau| yadi ca mametyetad dṛṣṭyantaraṃ syānmayā mahyamityevamādyapi dṛṣṭyantaraṃ syā[t]| tasmādahaṃkāraparyāyā evaite draṣṭavyāḥ|

nanu ca sarve kleśā viparyāsāḥ viparītapravṛtatvāt ? tatkimucyate catvāra iti ? naiṣa doṣaḥ| yasmāt

[274] nitīraṇasamāropaviparītapravṛttitaḥ|
viparyāsoktireṣveva dṛgvaṣā(śāt) cittasaṃjñayoḥ||

viparītato nitīraṇātsamāropādekāntaviparyāsācca| na hyetadanyeṣāṃ kleśānāṃ samastamasti| mithyādṛṣṭyucchedadṛṣṭī yadyapi nitīrayataḥ, ekāntaviparyaste ca, na tu samāropike dravyanāśapravṛttatvāt| śīlavrataparāmarśo naikāntaviparītaḥ kāmavairāgyādisaṃbhavāt| anye kleśā na santīrakāḥ| iti catvāra eva|

nanu ca sūtra uktam-“ānitye nityamiti saṃjñāviparyāsaḥ, cittaviparyāso dṛṣṭiviparyāsa evaṃ yāvadātmani” iti dvādaśa bhavanti| naiṣa doṣaḥ| nahi saṃjñācitte nitīrake| tasmāccaturṣveva dṛṣṭisvabhāveṣu viparyāsoktiḥ| ‘dṛgvaśāt cittasaṃjñayoḥ’ taduktiriti| saṃjñā hi lokakāryavyavahārapatitā darśaṇa(na)vaśādviparyastamālambananimittamudgṛhṇāti| cittaṃ ca tadvaśānuvartīti tayoreva grahaṇam| loke'pi viparyastasaṃjño viparyastacittaścocyate na viparyastavedano viparyastacetana iti||

atha kiṃ dṛṣṭyanuśayavat mānānuśayasyāpi kaścidbhedo'sti ? vidyata ityāha| kathamityādarśyate-

[275] sapta mānavidhāstribhyo nava mānavidhāstridhā|
tridhā'tyunnamanādibhyaḥ svotkarṣādyasti nāstitā||

tadasya ślokasya saṃkṣepavistāravyākhyāprabhedo'yamādaryate| tatra tāvatkarmasvakatāsāmarthyasaṃmugdhasya yena kenacidvastunā cittasyonnatirmānaḥ| pratidyamānaḥ saptadhā bhavati mānaḥ, atimānaḥ, mānātimānaḥ, asmimānaḥ, abhimānaḥ, ūnamānaḥ, mithyāmānaśca| eteṣāṃ prapañco yathā prakaraṇeṣu|

na[nu] punarjñānaprasthāne navamānavidhā uktāstadyathā-“śreyānahamasmīti mānavidhā| sadṛśo'hamasmīti taddṛṣṭisaṃniśritaiva mānavidhā| sadṛśāddhīno'hamasmīti mānavidhā| asti me śreyānasti me sadṛśo'sti me hīnaḥ, nāsti me śreyo nāsti me sadṛśo nāsti me hīnaḥ” iti|

tatra śreyānahamasmīti satkāyadṛṣṭisani(nna)śritā atimānavidhā| sadṛśo'hamasmīti taddṛṣṭisanniśrite(tai)va mānavidhā| hīno'hamasmīti taddṛṣṭisanniśritaivonamānavidhā| asti me śreyānityūnamānavidhā| asti me sadṛśa iti mānavidhā| asti me māna iti mānātimānavidhā| nāsti me śreyāniti mānavidhā| nāsti me sadṛśa ityatimānavidhā| nāsti me hīna ityūnamānavidhā| iti evametā navamānavidhāstribhyo mānebhyo vyavasthāpyante mānāmimānonamānebhyaḥ|

ta ete saptamānāḥ sarve'pi darśaṇa(na)bhāvanāheyāḥ sthavirakṣemakasūtrokteḥ-“asti me eṣu pañcasūpādānaskandheṣvasmīti māno'prahīnaḥ(ṇaḥ)” iti ||

kiṃ punaryadbhāvanāheyamaprahīṇaṃ sarvaṃ tadāryasya samudācarati ? netyāha| prahīṇamapi hi kiñcitsamudācarati| tadyathā śraddhādīni pañcendriyāṇi middhaṃ duḥkhendriyaṃ cakṣurādyaṣṭakaṃ ceti| aprahīna(ṇa)mapi khalu kiñcinna samudācarati| tadyathā

[276] vadhādiparyavasthānaṃ kaukṛtyamaśubhaṃ vidhāḥ|
vibhavecchā ca nāryasya jāyante hetvabhāvataḥ||

yena khalu kleśaparyavasthānena saṃcitya prāṇivadhādattādānakāmamithyācāramṛṣāvādānadhyāpadyetaitadvadhādyaprahīna(ṇa)mapi na samudācarati bhāvanāheyatvāt| kaukṛtyaṃ cākuśalaṃ na samudācarati| mānavidhāśca nava na samudācaranti| vibhavatṛṣṇāpi bhāvanāprahātavyāpi satī na samudācarati| ‘ca’śabdādbhavatṛṣṇāyāśca kaścitpradeśaḥ| aho vatāhamairāvaṇaḥ syāṃ nāgarājaḥ(jā) aho vatāhamasurendraḥ syāṃ vaimacitrādiḥ| aho vatāhamuttareṣu kuruṣu janma labheyetyevamādi|

kiṃ punaratra kāraṇaṃ yadete[']prahīṇāḥ khalvapi santo nāryasya samudācaranti ? śūnyatāyāḥ subhāvitatvātkarmaphalasaṃbandhayukteśca viditatvāt, dṛṣṭipuṣṭatvācca||

tatra mānavidhā asmimānaśca satkāyadṛṣṭipuṣṭāḥ| vadhādiparyavasthānaṃ mithyādṛṣṭipuṣṭam| vibhavatṛṣṇocchedadṛṣṭipuṣṭā| bhavatṛṣṇāpradeśaḥ śāśvatadṛṣṭipuṣṭaḥ| iti vidhādayastatpoṣā(ṣa)kakleśābhāvādāryasya notsahante santānamadhyāroḍhum| kaukṛtyamapi cākuśalamavītarāgasyāryasyāprahīṇaṃ na cāsya tatsaṃbhavati cikitsāsamutthitatvāditi||

athānuśayāḥ sarvatragāḥ kasmātkleśanikāyā vyavasthāpyante ? tadārabhyate-

[277] duḥkhātsamudayāccaiva sarvagānāṃ vyavasthitiḥ|

duḥkhasamudayadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyāḥ khalvanuśayāḥ sarvagāḥ| yasmāt

taddṛṣṭiheyajātīnāṃ sarvāsāṃ dvipadasthiteḥ||

dvayoḥ khalu nikāyayoḥ duḥkhasamudayākhyayostaddarśaṇa(na)heyānā(ṇāṃ)vakṣyamānā(ṇā)nāṃ kleśānāmubhayatra labdhapratiṣṭhatvāt||

kiṃ punaḥ sarve duḥkhasamudayaheyāḥ na heyāḥ sarvatragāḥ ? netyāha| kiṃ tarhi ?

[278] kāṅkṣā pañca dṛśo'vidyā tadvyāmiśrā'tha kevalāḥ|
sapta sarvatragā duḥkhāddhenorebhyaścatuṣṭayam||

saptadṛṣṭayo dve vicikitse tābhiśca saṃyuktā'vidyā āveṇikī ca dviprakārā ityekādaśānuśayā dhātau dhātau svadhātubhūmisarvatragā jñeyāḥ| sakalasvadhātubhūmyālambanatvāt| ete ca paripiṇḍya trayastriṃśatsarvatragā bhavanti||

ete punaḥ sarvatragāḥ

[279] dravyato daśa caikaśca nāmnā sapta tu te matāḥ|

tisṛṇāmapyavidyānāṃ dvayośca vicikitsayorekaṇā(nā)matvāt|
atha kasmādrāgapratighamānā na sarvatragāḥ ? taducyate-

rāgapratighamānāstu paricchedapravartiṇaḥ(naḥ)||

ete khalu svalakṣaṇakleśāḥ pratikleśamanavayavaṃ cālambyotpadyate| tasmānna sarvagāḥ||

dhātvantarāvalambitvātpūrvoktā eva sarvagāḥ||

[281] navordhvadhātukāsteṣāmādyā dṛṣṭidvayādṛte|

satkāyāntargrāhadṛṣṭī hitvā'nye nava visabhāgadhātusarvatragāḥ|
kiṃ punaraṇu(nu)śayā eva sarvatragāḥ ? netyāha| kiṃ tarhi ?

teṣāṃ sahabhuvo dharmāḥ prāptivarjyāśca sarvagāḥ||

ye sarvatragānuśayasahabhuvo vedanādayo dharmāḥ, jātyādayaśca tehi('pi) sarvatragāstadekaphalatvāt||

teṣāṃ punaraṣṭānavatīnāmanuśayānāṃ kati sāsravālambanāḥ katyanāsravālambanāḥ ? tadārabhyate-

[282] kāṅkṣāmithyādṛgābhyāṃ ca miśrā'vidyātha kevalā|
nirodhamārgadṛggheyāḥ ṣaḍete nirmalekṣiṇaḥ||

nirodhamārgadarśanaheyā mithyādṛṣṭivicikitsā tatsaṃprayuktā cāvidyā sahāveṇikyā'vidyayā| ityete dhātau dhātau ṣaḍanuśayā anāsravālambanāḥ| śeṣāḥ sāsravālambanāḥ||

athaite nirmalālambanāḥ kati katyuparamamālambyante, kati bhūmipratipakṣaṃ ca ? taducyate-

[283] svabhūmereva nirvāṇaṃ mārgastha(rgaḥ ṣa)nna(ṇṇa)vabhūmikaḥ|
taddṛśyaviśa(ṣa)yo'nyo'nyo hetutvāddhetubhāvataḥ||

svabhūminirodha eva nirodhālambanānāṃ mithyādṛṣṭyādīnāmālambanam| kāmāvacarāṇāṃ kāmāvacaraṇi(ni)rodhaḥ| evaṃ yāvadbhavāgrabhūmikānāṃ bhavāgrasyaiva| mārgālambanānāṃ tu kāmāvacarāṇāṃ sarva eva svabhūmikāḥ kleśāḥ mārga ālambanam| yo'pyasau rūpārūpyapratipakṣaḥ, rūpārūpyāvacarāṇāmapyaṣṭamūmikāṇāṃ(nāṃ) mithyādṛṣṭyādīnāṃ navabhūmi-ko'nvayajñānapakṣyo mārga ālambanaḥ| kiṃ punaḥ kāraṇaṃ mithyādṛṣṭyā nirodhaḥ paricchinna ālambyate, na mārgeṇa ? taducyate| ‘hetutvāddhetubhāvataśca|’ mārgo hi parasparahetukaḥ, na tu nirodha ityasti viśeṣaḥ||

atha kasmādrāgapratighamānā dṛṣṭiśīlavrataparāmarśo ca nānāsravālambanā iṣyante ? tatrāpadiṣyate-

[284] na rāgaḥ śaktyahetutvānna dveṣo[']naparādhataḥ|
namāno'tipraśāntatvānna bhāvatvād dṛśo'parāḥ||

tatra rāgastāvadyadyanāsravālambanaḥ syānnirvāṇābhilāṣapravṛttatvātkuśaladharmacchandavat, na yogiṇāṃ(nāṃ) varjanīyaḥ syāt| dveṣo'pyapakāravastunyutpadyate, mokṣastu sarvaduḥkhoparamādupakārī| māno'pyapraśāntatvādunnatilakṣaṇaḥ, nirmalāstu dharmāstadapaghātinaḥ| parāmarśī ca yadyanāsravālambanau syātāṃ samyagdṛṣṭitvaṃ pratipadyeyātām| tasmātpūrvoktā evānuśayā nirmalagocarāḥ||

athaiteṣāmaṣṭānavateranuśayānāṃ katyālambanato'nuśerate kati saṃprayogataḥ ?

[285] sarvago'nuśayaḥ kṛtsnāmanuśete svadhātugaḥ|
svāmālambanato bhūmiṃ svanikāyaṃ tvasarvagaḥ||

dvividhāḥ khalu sarvagāḥ| svadhātubhūmisarvagāḥ, visabhāgadhātubhūmisarvagāśca| asarvagā api dvividhāḥ| sāsravālambanāḥ, anāsravālambanāśca| tatra te ye'nuśayāḥ svadhātubhūmisarvatragāste sakalāmeva pañcaprakārāṃ svadhātubhūmimālambanato'nuśerate| ye tvasarvatragāḥ sāsravālambanāste svabhūmau svanikāyamālambanato'nuśerate| duḥkhadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyāḥ duḥkhadarśaṇa(na) prahātavyameva nikāyaṃ yāvadbhāvanāprahātavyā bhāvanāprahātavyameveti||

[286] asvīkārādvipakṣatvānnordhvabhūmārgagocaraḥ|

ālambanato'nuśerata iti vartate| kiṃ kāraṇam ? anyabhūmikasyānāsravasya ca vastunaḥ ‘asvīkārādvipakṣatvā’cca| ātmadṛṣṭitṛṣṇābhyāṃ hi svīkṛte vastunyanuśayo'nuśayitumutsahate| anāsrave tu vastunyūrdhvabhūmika(ke) ca pravṛttireva satkāyadṛṣṭitṛṣṇayornāstīti nna(na) tatrānuśerate|

saṃprayogini(ṇi) tu svasminnahīne saṃprayogataḥ||

anuśerata ityadhikṛtam| yo yena dharmeṇānuśayaḥ saṃprayuktaḥ sa tasminsaṃprayogiṇi saṃprayogato'nuśerate yāvadaprahīṇo bhavatīti ‘tu’ śabdo viśinaṣṭi| tataścedamapi siddhaṃ bhavati-anāsravālambanā visabhāgadhātubhūmyālambanāśca saṃprayogata evānuśerate| sāsravālambanāḥ svabhūmāvālambanataḥ saṃprayogataśceti||

kutaḥ punarete'nuśayā ucyante ? taducyate| prāgāviṣkṛtametatprasaṅgāgataṃ na tu sūtritamita(ti)| tadidānīṃ sūtragataṃ pradarśyate |

[287] dhātrīvastramalanyāyaiḥ khacarāmbucarakramaiḥ|
ete'nuśerate yasmāttasmādanuśayāḥ smṛtāḥ||

itaśca,
[288] svairiṣṭādibhinā(rā)kāraiḥ paramāṇukṣaṇeṣvapi|
yato'nuśerate caiti(te) tataścānuśayā matāḥ||

tatra rāgastāvadiṣṭākāreṇa khaṇḍakṣīrabhakṣaṇavat| dveṣastvaniṣṭākāreṇa kāñjikakodravaudanabhakṣaṇavadityevamādi| paramānu(ṇu)ṣu kṣaṇeṣu ca sūkṣmeṣvekeṣvapyanuśerata ityanuśayāḥ| niruktanyāyena pūrvaṃ vā prāptimutsṛjya paścātsamudācārato'nuśerata ityanuśayāḥ| anya[t] pūrvameva vyākhyātamiti||

abhidharmadīpe vibhāṣāprabhāyāṃ vṛttau pañcamasyādhyāyasya prathamaḥ pādaḥ||

athaiṣāmaṣṭānavateranuśayānāṃ katyakuśalāḥ katyavyākṛtāḥ ? tadārabhyate-

[289] ādyaṃ dṛṣṭidvayaṃ kāme nivṛtāvyākṛtaṃ matam|
dhātudvaye tu sarve'pi nivṛtāvyākṛtā malāḥ||

kāmadhātau tāvat| satkāyāntargrāhadṛṣṭī tatsaṃprayuktāvidye nivṛtāvyākṛte| satkāyadṛṣṭistāvaddānaśīlabhāvanābhiraviruddhatvātkuśalamūlasamucchedavairodhikatvācca nākuśalā| viparītākāratvānna kuśalā| tṛṣṇāvadakuśaleti cet| na| tṛṣṇāprakarṣe sarvākāryapravṛttidarśaṇā(nā) t| antargrāhadṛṣṭirapi janmocchedapravṛttatvānnirvāṇavirodhinī saṃvegānukūlā ceti nākuśalā| yathoktaṃ bhagavatā-“yeyaṃ dṛṣṭiḥ sarvaṃ me na kṣamata itīyaṃ dṛṣṭirasaṃrāgāya na saṃrāgāya” iti| tathoktam-idamagryaṃ bāhyakānāṃ dṛṣṭikṛtānāṃ yaduta no ca syānna ca me syānna bhaviṣyāmi na me bhaviṣyati” iti| rūpārūpyadhātvoḥ ‘sarve'pi nivṛtāvyākṛtā malāḥ|” samādhisamāpattyupahatatvā[t] na śaknuvanti nivartayitum| kuśalāstu dharmā avyābādhaphalatvādvipākaṃ janayitumutsahante||

[290] kāmeṣvakuśalāḥ śeṣāḥ

satkāyāntargrāhadṛṣṭitatsaṃprayuktā'vidyāvarjitāḥ kleśāḥ kāmadhātāvakuśalāḥ, savyābādhaphalanirvartakatvāt|

ebhyaḥ punaḥ katyakuśalamūlāni kati neti ? taducyate-

rāgadveṣatamāṃsyataḥ|
trīṇyevāśubhamūlāni pañcakāraṇayogataḥ||

ye dharmā akuśalāścākuśalamūlaṃ ca darśanabhāvanāheyāśca pañcaprakārāśca ṣaḍvijñānakāyikāśca ta evākuśalamūlānīṣyante||

kiṃ punaryathā[']kuśalaṃ(lāni) anuśayānāṃ mūlāni santyevamavyākṛtānāmapi santīti ?

[291] avyākṛtadvayasyāpi trīṇi mūlāni tatsamāḥ|
avidyā dhīśca tṛṣṇā ca na kāṅkṣāmānadṛṣṭayaḥ|

“trīṇi khalvavyākṛtamūlāni, avyākṛtā'vidyā tṛṣṇā prajñā” iti kāśmīrāḥ| hetvartho hi mūlārthaḥ| anivṛtāvyākṛtā ca prajñā hetutvena vartata ityasāvapyavyākṛtamūlam| vicikitsā nāvyākṛtamalam| na ca mānaḥ||

[292] calatvādūrdhvavṛttitvādavyāpitvādyathākramam|

calā hi vicikitsā pratiṣṭhārthaścamūlārthaḥ| ūrdhvavṛttirunnatalakṣaṇo mānaḥ, adhogamanavṛttīni ca mūlāni| na caitau kleśau ṣaḍvijñānakāyikau| tasmādavyāpitvānna mūleṣu vyavasthāpyete|

avyākṛtā[:] tṛṣṇādṛṣṭimānāvidyā iti bahirdeśīyakāḥ, dhyāyisūtrokteḥ| trayo hi dhyāyinaḥ-tṛṣṇādṛṣṭimānottaradhyāyibhedāt| sarve ca te'vidyāvaśādbhavantīti catvāryeva iti|

etacca na te| kasmā[t] ?

sūtrasyārthāparijñānādaheturdhyāyicodanāt||

na khalveṣā dhyāyitritvacodanā'vyākṛtamūlanirdeśaparāḥ (rā)| kiṃ parā tarhyeṣāḥ(ṣā) ? yogināṃ vipattidhyānādhimokṣavyāvṛttipareti pūrvoktameva sādhuḥ||

atha yāni sūtre caturdaśāvyākṛtavastūnyuktāni, kiṃ tāni kuśalākuśalapakṣāvyākaraṇādavyākṛtavastūni ? netyāha| kiṃ tarhi ? sthāpanīyatvāt|

[293] praśnavyākaraṇānyākhyaccatvāri vadatāṃ varaḥ|
śiṣyānāṃ(ṇāṃ) vādaśikṣārthaṃ sthitīnāṃ ca catuṣṭayīm||

trīṇi khalu kathāvastūnyārabhya catvāri vyākaraṇānyāvabudhya catasraśca sthitīravagamya vigṛhya sabhāyāṃ pañcabhiravayavaiḥ svapakṣaṃ pratiṣṭhāpya vādaḥ karaṇīyo nāto'nyathā ityatra viniścayāt||

kāni punastāni catvāri vyākaraṇāni ? kāśca tāścatasraḥ sthitayaḥ ? tadavadyotyate-

[294] ekāṃśākhyaṃ vibhajyākhyaṃ pṛcchākhyaṃ sthāpyameva ca|
maraṇaprasavotkarṣajīvadravyānyatādivat||

tatraikāṃśavyākaraṇam-ki(kiṃ) yaḥ kaścijjāyate sarvosau mṛ(mri)yate? omiti vācyam| atha yaḥ kaścinmriyate sarvosau jāyata iti ? vibhajya vyākartavyam-kṣīṇāsravo na jāyate'nyaḥ sarvoṃ jāyate| kiṃ manuṣyo viśiṣṭo'tha hīna iti ? paripṛcchya vyākartavyam-kānadhikṛtya pṛcchasi ? devāṃstiryagādīnvā ? yadi devānārabhya hīna iti vācyam| atha tiraścaḥ śreṣṭha iti vyākartavyam| kimanyaḥ skandhebhyaḥ puruṣo vā'nanya iti ? eṣa praśnaḥ sthāpanīyaḥ, sadasatoranyānanyatvavyākaraṇāyogāt, khapuṣpasaugandhyadaurgandhyavyākaraṇavat||

sthitayaścatasro nirdiśyante|

[295] sthānavāditvasaṃjñaikā parikalpāhvayā parā|
anyā pratipadākhyā'nyā jñānavāditvasaṃjñitā||

kaściddhi vādī sthānāsthāne saṃbhavāsaṃbhavākhye saṃtiṣṭhate kaścinna saṃtiṣṭhate| prathamaḥ katthyaḥ(thyaḥ), dvitīyastvakathyaḥ| parikalpe saṃtiṣṭhate, yaḥ parikalpite dṛṣṭānte dārṣṭāntikārthaṃ(rthe) prasādhake saṃtiṣṭhate, sa ca kathyo yo na santiṣṭhate so'kathyaḥ| evaṃ pratipadi jñānavāditāyāṃ yaḥ santiṣṭhate sa kathyate| yastu na saṃtiṣṭhate sa durmatirakathyate|

idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| atha kenānuśayena kasminvastuni saṃyuktaḥ ? tatra tāvadvastu kṣetravastvādipañcaprakāram| tadiha saṃyogavastvadhikṛtaṃ veditavyam| ta[d] dvividhamāśrayālambananaiyamyena prakāranaiyamyena ca|

tatrāśrayālambananaiyamyena tāvaccakṣurvijñānakāyikairanuśayaiḥ, rūpeṣvālambanataḥ saṃyuktaḥ| tatsaṃprayukteṣu saṃprayogataḥ| te ca manodharmāyatane| evaṃ yāvatkāyavijñānikairyathāviṣayamālambanataḥ, tatsaṃprayukteṣu saṃprayogataḥ| manovijñānakāyikairdvādaśasvāyataneṣvālambanataḥ| saṃprayukteṣu saṃprayogataḥ| ityāśrayālambananiyamaḥ|

prakāranaiyamyena tu duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyaiḥ sarvatragaiḥ pañcasu nikāyeṣvālambanataḥ saṃyuktaḥ| tatsaṃprayukteṣu saṃprayogataḥ| asarvatragaistu svanaikāyikeṣvālambanataḥ| saṃprayukteṣu saṃprayogataḥ| ityevaṃ sarvatra yathāsaṃbhavaṃ vaktavyam||

athedānīmatītānāgatapratyutpannanaiyamyena kaḥ pudgalaḥ kasminvastuni katamenānuśayeṇa(na) saṃyuktaḥ ? tadidamudbhāvyate-

[296] mānapratighasaṃrāgairvartamāno'jjhitakriyaiḥ|
jātā yatrāprahīṇāśca saṃyuktastatra vastuni||

ete hi mānapratigharāgāḥ svalakṣaṇakleśāḥ sadvastuviṣayatvāt| sāmānyalakṣaṇakleśāstu dṛṣṭivicikitsādyāḥ| ata ete mānādayo'tītāḥ pratyutpannāśca yasminvastunyutpannā na ca prahīṇāstasminvastuni taiḥ saṃprayukto veditavyaḥ| nahyete sarvasya sarvatrotpadyante svalakṣaṇakleśatvāt||

[297] ajātairmāṇa(na)sairetaiḥ sarvatrānyaiḥ svakādhvikaiḥ|
sarvatrājaistathā śeṣaiḥ saṃyuktā skandhasantatiḥ||

yathā(trā)prahīṇā iti vartata(te)| yasya khalu yo'tītaḥ kleśaprakāraḥ prahīṇo'nāgato'pi| ato ye mānarāgadayo nāgatā na prahīṇāstaiḥ sarvasmiṃstraiyadhvike vastuni saṃyuktaḥ| tadālambanānāmutpattisaṃbhavānmānasānāṃ ca traiyadhvaviṣayatvāt| ato'nyai rāgādibhiranāgatairaṇā(nā)gata eva vastuni saṃyukto'tītairatīta eva pratyutpannaiḥ pratyutpanna eva| mānasebhyo hyanye pañcavijñānakāyikāḥ| tataḥ siddhaṃ bhavatyatītapratyutpannairapi mānasairasvādhvike'pi vastunyaprahīṇaiḥ saṃyuktaḥ syānna ca kevalaṃ mānasairevānāgatairebhiḥ sarvatra| kiṃ tarhi ? pañcavijñānakāyikairapi| anutpattidharmikaistu pañcavijñānakāyikaiḥ sarvatra traiyadhvikairvastuni saṃyuktaḥ, tadviṣayasyātītānāgatapratyutpannatvāt| sāmānyakleśaistu dṛṣṭivicikitsā'vidyākhyaistraiyadhvikairapi sarvasmiṃstraiyaghvike vastuni saṃyuktaḥ, teṣāṃ sāmānyakleśatvādyāvadaprahīṇā ityanuvartate|

kathaṃ punargamyate'tītādiṣu vastuṣu rāgādaya utpadyante taiśca tatra saṃyukto bhavatīti ? sūtrādeva hi| bhagavatoktam-“trayaśchandarāgasthānīyā dharmāḥ| atītāśchandarāgasthānīyā dharmāḥ, anāgatapratyutpannāḥ| atītāṃśchandarāgasthānīyāndharmānpratītyotpadyate cchandaḥ| utpanne cchande saṃprayuktastairdharmairvaktavyo na visaṃyuktaḥ |” tathā-“yasmin rūpe'tītānāgatapratyutpanne utpadyate'nunayo vā pratigho vā|” ityevamādi|

kaḥ punaratra saṃyujyate ? yadā śūnyāḥ sarvasaṃskārāḥ, nityena dhruvena(ṇa) śāśvatenāvipariṇāmadharma(rme)ṇātmanā'tmīyena vā ? yathoktam-“asti karmāsti vipākaḥ kārakastu nopalabhyate ya imāṃśca skandhān pratinikṣipyānyān skandhān pratisaṃdadhātītyanyatra dharmasaṃketāt” iti vistaraḥ|

tatra pratisamādhānam-‘saṃyuktā skandhasantatiḥ|’ skandhasantatau hi skandhalakṣaṇasantānaikatvābhimānāt, saṃṣṛtyā sattvasaṃjñaptirityadoṣaḥ||

trayātpunaretasmāt-
[298] dvayamevātra niṣpannaṃ tṛtīyaṃ tūpacārataḥ|

vastusaṃyo nākhyaṃ dvayaṃ paramārthato vidyate sattvākhyastu tṛtīyo'rthaḥ saṃvṛtyā vidyata iti|

kutaḥ punaretad dvayaṃ paramārthato vidyate ? taducyate-

sadasaddhetuno(tā) yasmānmadhyasthaiśca parigrahāt||

śubhāśubhaphalaṃ karmanaiyamyād guṇadoṣaphalaniyamyatāḥ(tā)| kiñca, ‘madhyasthaiśca parigrahāt|’ madhyasthā ucyante vītakleśāḥ| taiḥ śubhaṃ ca śubhato'śubhaṃ cāśubhataḥ, guṇāśca guṇataḥ doṣāśca doṣataḥ parigṛhītaḥ| tatphalaṃ ceṣṭamiṣṭataḥ parigṛhītamaniṣṭaṃ cāniṣṭataḥ| iti siddhaṃ dvayaṃ pariniṣpannaṃ tṛtīyaṃ tūpacārata iti|

yuktaṃ tāvadidam| yadidaṃ pratyuktaṃ vastuhetupratyayātpratītyotpannaṃ paramārthato vidyate pratyātmavedanīyatvāt, tadālambanāśca rāgādayaḥ dravyataḥ santīti| yatpunaridamuktamatītānāgate vastuni traiyadhvikairanuśayaiḥ saṃyukta iti tadetatsāhasamāhopuruṣikamātram| kaḥ punaretadatītānāgatādi dravyato'bhivāñcchatītyāhābhidhārmikāḥ||

catvāraḥ khalviha pravacane vādinaḥ| katame catvāraḥ ? tadapadiśyate-

[299] sarvamasti pradeśo'sti sarvaṃ nāstīti cāparaḥ|
avyākṛtāstivādīti catvāro vādinaḥ smṛtāḥ||

tatra sarvāstivādā(da)syādhvatrayamasti sa dhruvatrayamiti| vibhajyavādinastu dārṣṭāntikasya ca pradeśo vartamānādhvasaṃjñakaḥ| vaitulikasya ayogaśūnyatāvādinaḥ sarvaṃ nāstīti| paudgalikasyāpi avyākṛtavastuvādinaḥ pudgalo'pi dravyato'stīti|

atra punaḥ
[300] ebhyo yaḥ prathamo vādī bhajate sādhutāmasau|
tarkābhimāninastvanyeyuktyāgamabahiṣkṛtāḥ||

yaḥ khalveṣa prathamo vādī sarvāstivādākhyaḥ, eṣa khalu yuktyāgamopapannābhidhāyitvātsadvādī| tadanye bādino dārṣṭāntikavaitulikapaudgalikāḥ na yuktyāgamābhidhāyinaḥ, tarkābhimāninaste| mithyāvāditvādete lokāyatikavaināśikanagnāṭapakṣe prakṣeptavyāḥ| ityataśca sarvaṃ sarvagatamupadarṣa(rśa)yiṣyāmīti||

kaḥ punarayaṃ sarvāstivādī sādhutā(tāṃ) bhajate ? tadidamavadyotyate| eṣa khalu vādī

[301] icchatyadhvatrayaṃ yasmā[t] kṛtyataśca dhruvatrayam|
sarvāstivāda ityuktastasmādādyaścaturvidhaḥ||

khalveṣa sarvāstivādaścaturdhā bhedaṃ pratipannaḥ| katham ? tadārabhyate-

[302] bhā[vāṅkā']nyathikākhyau dvāva[va]sthā'nyathiko paraḥ|
anyathā'nyathikaścānyaḥ, tṛtīyo yuktivādyataḥ||

tatra bhāvānyā(nya)thiko bhadantadharmatrātaḥ| sa hyevamāha-dharmasyādhvasu pravartamānasyānāgatādibhāvamātramanyathā bhavati| na dravyānyathātvam| yathā suvarṇasya kaṭakādisaṃsthānāntareṇa kṛ(kri)yamāna(ṇa)sya pūrvasaṃsthānanāśe suvarṇanāśaḥ| kṣīrasya vā dadhitvena pariṇamato yathā rasavīryavipākaparityāgo na varṇasyeti| tadeṣa vārṣagaṇyapakṣabhajamānatvāttadvargya eva draṣṭavyaḥ| yasmāt eṣo'vasthitasya dravyasya jātilakṣaṇasya samudāyarūpasya vā'nyathā'nyathāvasthānalakṣaṇaṃ pariṇāmamicchati|

lakṣaṇānyathiko bhadantaghoṣaka iha paśyatyatīto dharmo'tītalakṣaṇena yukto'nāgatapratyutpannalakṣaṇābhyāmaviyuktaḥ, evamanāgatapratyutpannāvapi| yathā puruṣaḥ ekasyāṃ striyāṃ rakto'nyāsvaviraktaḥ| tadasyāpyadhvasaṃkaro bhavatyekasya dharmasya trilakṣaṇayogābhyupagamāt| eṣo'pi puruṣakāraṇi(?)vāgurāyāṃ praveśayitavyaḥ|

avasthā'nyathiko bhadantavasumitraḥ| sa khalvāha-dharmo'dhvasu pravartamāno'vasthāmavasthāṃ prāpyā'nyathā'nyathā'stīti nirdiśyate| avasthāntaraviśeṣavikārātsvabhāvāparityāgācca| yathā nikṣepavartikaikāṅkavinyastaiketyucyate, saiva śatāṅke śataṃ sahasrāṅke sahasramiti|

anyathā'nyathiko bhadantabuddhadevaḥ| sa brūte| dharmo'dhvasu pravartamānasyā(-mānaḥ) pūrvāparamavekṣyānyathā cānyathā cocyate| naivāsya bhāvānyathātvaṃ bhavati dravyānyathātvaṃ vā| athaikā strī pūrvāparamapekṣya mātā cocyate duhitā ca| tadvaddharmo'nāgatapratyutpannamave(pe)kṣyātīta ityucyate| tathetaro'pītaradvayamapekṣyeti|

asyāpyekasyātītasyādhvanaḥ pūrvottarakṣaṇatra(dva)yamapekṣyādhvatritvāpattidoṣaprasaṅgaḥ|

tadebhyaścaturbhyaḥ sarvāstivādebhyastṛtīyaḥ sthaviravasumitraḥ pañcaviṃśatitattvanirāsī paramānu(ṇu)saṃcayavādonmāthīca| ityato'sāveva yuktyāgamānusāri[tvā]dāptaḥ prāmāṇika ityadhyavaseyam|

bhadantabuddhadevo'pi tīrthyapakṣyabhajamānatvānna parigṛhyate|

bhadantaghoṣako'pyadhvasaṃkaravāditvādekaikasyādhvano'dhvatrayalakṣaṇabhāgbhavati|

ityatastṛtīya evāpadoṣaḥ| yasmāt-

[303] kāritreṇādhvanāmepa vyavasthāmabhivāñchati|
tatkurvanvartamāno'dhvā kṛte'tīto'kṛte paraḥ||

ye khalu bhagavatoktāḥ svabhāvasiddhāstraiyādhvikā dharmā atītānāgatapratyutpannāsteṣāmayamācāryaḥ kriyādvāreṇāvasthābhedamicchatyajahatsvarūpo hetusāmagrīsannidhānaprabodhitaśaktiḥ| kriyāvā[n] hi saṃskāro vartamāna ityucyate| sa eva tyaktakriyo'tīto'nupāttakriyo'nāgataḥ| ityevaṃ ca sati kālatrayasyaikādhikaraṇyamekādhiṣṭhānavyāpāraparicchedyatvaṃ copapannam| anyathaikaḥ (ka)dravyajātinimittābhāve vaiyadhikaraṇye sati kālatrayasaṃbandhābhāvaḥ prāpnuyāditi |

atrāha codakaḥ-na, atītānāgatasyārthasya prajñaptyā vyapadeśasiddheḥ| na, paramārthadravyābhāve niradhiṣṭhānaprajñaptivyapadeśānupapatteḥ| vartamānāpekṣyastadvyapadeśa iti cet| na| vartamānasvarūpasthitiśaktikriyābhāve sattvānupapatteḥ, sadasatorapekṣāsaṃbandhābhāvācca| sattvalakṣaṇamidānīmeva dyotyate atītādīnāṃ padārthānām-

[304] buddhyā yasyekṣyate cihnaṃ tatsaṃjñeyaṃ caturvidham|
paramārthena saṃvṛtyā dvayenāpekṣayā'pi ca||

yasya khalvarthavastuna(naḥ) svabhāvasiddhasvarūpasyāviparītākārayā dharmopalakṣaṇayā paricchinnaṃ lakṣaṇamupalakṣyate tatsa[d]dravyamityucyate| tatpunaḥ sat pratibhidyamāna(naṃ) caturvidhaṃ bhavati|

paramārthena yannityaṃ svabhāvena saṃgṛhītaṃ na kadācitsvamātmānaṃ jahāti, viśiṣṭajñānābhidhānāpauruṣeyaviṣayisaṃbandhaṃ tatparamārthasadityucyate|

yatpunaraṇe(ne)kaparamārthasatyapṛṣṭhena byavahārārthaṃ prajñaptirūpatayā nirdiśyate tatsaṃvṛtisat| tadyathā dhaṭapaṭavanapugdalādika[m]|

kiñcidubhayathā| tadyathā pṛthivyādi| kiñcitsattvā pekṣayā pitṛputraguruśiṣyakartṛkriyādi||

atha yadidamuktaṃ dravyasanto'totānāgatā'dhvasthā dharmā iti tadāgamayuktyanabhidhānādabhidhānamātram| tasmādāgamayuktibhyāmupapādyo'yamartha ityata idaṃ pratijñāyate-

[305] sadatītāsamutpannaṃ buddhoktervartamānavat|
dhīnāmagocaratvacca tatsattvaṃ vartamānavat||

uktaṃ hi bhagavatā-“asti bhikṣavo'tītaṃ rūpaṃ nocedatītaṃ rūpaṃ abhaviṣyanneme sattvā atīte rūpe samarañjyantaḥ| yasmāttarhyastyatītaṃ rūpaṃ tasmādime sattvā atīte rūpe saṃrañjyante|” evamanāgatapratyutpanna(nnaṃ) ceti vācyam| vibhaktipratirūpako'yaṃ nipāta iti cet| na| vartamāne'pi tatprasaṅgāt| kriyāvacanena cottarapadena pūrvasya kriyāvacanasyaiva padasya sāmānādhikaraṇyāt|

punaścoktaṃ bhagavatā-“rūpamanityamatītānāgatam, kaḥ punarvādaḥ pratyutpannasya ? evaṃdarśī śrutavānāryaśrāvako'tīte rūpe'napekṣo bhavatyanāgataṃ rūpaṃ nābhinandati| pratyutpannasya rūpasya nirvide virāgāya nirodhāya pratipanno bhavati| atītaṃ cedrūpaṃ nābhaviṣyanna śrutavānāryaśrāvako'tīte rūpe'napekṣo'bhaviṣyat; yasmāttarhyastyatītaṃ rūpaṃ tasmācchrutavānāryaśrāvakaḥ atīte rūpe'napekṣo bhavati” iti vistaraḥ|

tathoktam-yacchāriputra karmābhyatītaṃ kṣīṇaṃniruddhaṃ vigataṃ vipariṇataṃ tadastīti| taccet karma śāriputra nābhaviṣyannehaikatīyastaddhetoḥ tatpratyayādapāya durgativinipātaṃ kāyasya bhedānnarakeṣūpapatsyate” iti vistaraḥ| tadāhitacittabhāvanāṃ sandhāya vacanādadoṣa iti ce[t]| na| uktottaratvāt| uktottaro hyeṣa vādaḥ| kiṃ tilapīḍakavatpunarāvartase ?

kiñca, bhāvanābhāvyamānacittayoḥ svarūpaśaktikriyānupapatteḥ puṣṭavāsitatailavat, anyānanyatvādivakṣyamāna(ṇa)doṣācca|

paramārthaśūnyatāsūtrādasaditi cet| na| tadarthāparijñānāt| tata evānāgatādyastitvasiddheśca| tatraitat syāt-paramārthaśūnyatā sūtre bhagavatā vispaṣṭamanāgatādināstitvaṃ pradarśitam| tatra hyaktam-“cakṣurūtpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati, nirudhyamānaṃ na kvacitsaṃnicayaṃ gacchati” iti vistaraḥ| atītānāgatasadbhāve cāgatigatidoṣo(ṣā)bhyupagamaḥ prāpnotīti|

etacca na| kutaḥ ? sūtrārthāparijñānāt| ata evānāgatādyastitvasiddheśca|

sūtrasya tāvadayamarthaḥ| yaduktam-“cakṣurutpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati, nirudhyamānaṃ na kvacitsaṃnicayaṃ gacchati” iti tadvedoktavādavidhipratiṣedhārthaṃ sāṃkhyamatavyudāsārthaṃ ca|

vede hyaktam-“pañcatvamāpadyamānasya cakṣurādityādāgataṃ punastatraiva prativigacchati| śrotramākāśam| ghrāṇaṃ pṛthivīm| jihvā āpaḥ| kāyo vāyum| manaḥ salilaṃ somamityarthaḥ|” tatpratiṣedhārthaṃ bhagavānavocat- “cakṣurutpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati” iti vistaraḥ|

sāṃkhyāḥ khalvapyācakṣate-“cakṣuṣpradhānādāgacchati tatraiva ca punarvigacchati” iti| tannirāsārtha ca bhagavānavocat-“cakṣarutpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati|” adeśapradeśasthāḥ khalvanāgatātītaparamāṇvavijñaptisaṃjñitā dharmaḥ(rmāḥ) iti tadāgamanagamanānupapattiḥ|

kastarhi vākyārtha|-“abhūtvā bhavati| bhūtvā ca prativigacchati” iti ? dvividhaṃ hi cakṣurdravyasadeva paramārthasato yadaprabuddhamubhayam (?)| anyatprabuddhamanu(-ddhamu ?)pāttakriyam| pūrvaṃ taddhetūnpratītya kriyāmupādatte prabudhyata ityarthaḥ| upāttakriyaṃ ca dvitīyam| taddhi kriyāmujjhatprativigacchatītyuktaṃ bhavati|

sāṃkhyamataniṣedhārthaṃ vā| sāṃkhyānāṃ khalvekaṃ kāraṇaṃ nityaṃ svāṃ jātimajahattena tena vikāraviśeṣātmanā bhūtvā bhūtvā'nyenānyena kāryaviśeṣātmanā pariṇamatīti| tatpratiṣedhārthaṃ bhagavānavocat-“cakṣurutpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati nirudhyamānaṃ na kvacitsaṃnicayaṃ gacchati” iti| cakṣurabhūtvā vartamāne'dhvani kṣaṇamātraṃ kriyārūpamādaya tyaktvā punaradarśanaṃ gacchati|

kiñcānyat, ata evānāgatāstitvasiddheḥ| yaduktamasminneva sūtre cakṣurutpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati” ityatraitadādarśitam| sadidaṃ cakṣurantaraṅgabahiraṅgakāraṇasāmagrīsannidhānopādhivaśena kriyāmupādadānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati| kutaḥ punastatsattvamiti cet| mukhyasattāviṣṭe kartari śānacovidhānānnirudhyamānavaditi| tasmā[d] durvihitavetāḍotthānavat sautrāntikaiḥ svapakṣopaghātāya sūtrametadāśrīyate|

evaṃ tāvadāgamātsiddhamadhvatrayāstitvam|

yuktito'pi-‘dhīnāmagocaratvācca tatsattvaṃ vartamānavat|’ tadākārayā khalu buddhyā yasyārthasya svasāmānyalakṣaṇaṃ paricchidyate, yaśca buddhoktanāmakāyadharmakāyābhyāṃ(bhyā)mabhidyotyate sa paramārthato vidyate| katham ? vartamānacakṣūrūpādivat| jñānajñeyābhidhānābhidheyasaṃbandha[:] khalvakṛtakaiti śiṣṭāt(:) pratipadyante||

asadālambanā'pi buddhirastīti cet| atrāpadiśyate-

[306] nāsadālambanā buddhirāgamādupapattitaḥ|

āgamastāvat-“cakṣuḥ pratītya rūpaṃ cotpadyate cakṣurvijñānaṃ yāvanmanaḥ pratītya dharmāṃścotpadyate manovijñānam| etāvaccaitatsarvamasti” ityuktaṃ bhagavatā| tatra manovijñānaṃ traiyadhvikāsaṃskṛtadharmaviṣayā[yama], pañcavijñānakāyāḥ pratyutpannapañcaviṣayālambanāḥ| na tu kvacidasā(sa) [dā]lambanamuktaṃ nāpi tadastīti tadviṣayabuddhyabhāvaḥ|

tathoktam-“yadva(du)ta loke nāsti tadahaṃ drakṣyāmi” iti vistaraḥ|

tathā-“trayāṇāṃ sannipātaḥ sparśaḥ| sahajātā vedanā” iti vistaraḥ| etenābhidhānābhidheyasaṃbandhaḥ pratyuktaḥ| tadevaṃ sati sūtre'sminmaghyamāpratipatpradarśitā| yaduta-kenacitprakāreṇa śūnyāḥ saṃskārāḥ mithyāparikalpitena puruṣālayavijñānābhūtaparikalpādinā| kenacidaśūnyāḥ, yaduta-svalakṣaṇasāmānyalakṣaṇābhyāmiti| yathā kātyāyata(-ya)na sūtre-“lokasamudayaṃ jñātvā yā loke nāsti tā sā na bhavati| lokanirodhaṃ jñātvā yā loke'sti tā sā na bhavati itīmau dvāvantau parityajya maghyamayā pratipadā tathāgato dharmaṃ deśayati|” na caitad dva [yama]stināstitvākhyamekādhikaraṇaṃ virodhādupapadyate na ca niradhiṣṭhānam| nāpi khapuṣpaśūnyādhiṣṭhitam|

yuktirapi| jñānajñeyābhidhānābhigheyasaṃbandhasyākṛtakatvāt| nāstiśaśaviṣāna(ṇa)mityasya jñānasyābhidhānasya cāsadviṣayatvamiti cet| tatra brūmaḥ-

anyāpekṣye'tha saṃbandhaprtiṣedho'śvaśṛṅgayoḥ||

yo'yaṃ nāsti śaśaviṣāṇādipratiṣedho'sya tarhi kiṃ pratiṣedhyam ? yadyasadālambanā buddhirnāstyabhidhānaṃ vā nirabhedheyamiti ? atrāpadiśyate| ‘anyāpekṣye'tha saṃbandhapratiṣedhaḥ|’ kāryakāraṇādistrividhaḥ saṃbandho'tra goviṣāṇādiṣu pūrvadṛṣṭaḥ śaśaviṣāṇādiṣu pratiṣiddhyate| śaśaṣi(śi)romātrakākāśadhātusaṃbandhadarśaṇā(nā)dyadi śaśaśirasyā(sya)pi viṣāṇama viṣyattadvadevopalapsyata| na copalabhyate| tasmātsaṃbandhāntarāpekṣaṃ śaśaviṣāṇaśabdagaḍumātraṃ nañā saṃbandhyantarasaṃbandhabuddhyapekṣeṇāvadyotyate, na tu kiñcidabhidhānamabhidheyaṃ vā pratiṣedhyātmanaḥ(nā) śrīyata iti siddhaṃ sarvā buddhiḥ sadviṣayeti|

etenājātaṃ ghvastaṃ ca goviṣāṇaṃ pratyuktam| gośirasā(śiro)mātramākāśadhātuveṣṭita(taṃ) dṛṣṭvāḥ(ṣṭvā) janiṣyate dhvastaṃ vā goviṣāṇamiti draṣṭavyam|

trayodaśāyatanapratiṣedhabuddhiviṣayād astitvādasadālambanā buddhirastīti cet| na| bhagavataiva vāgvastumātrametaditi nirṇītatvāt| uktaṃ hi bhagavatā hastatāḍo(lo)pame sūtre-“etāvatsarvaṃ yaduta cakṣū rūpaṃ ca yāvanmano gharmāṃśca| yaḥ kaścidetad dvaya pratyākhyāyā[nya]d dvayaṃ jñeyamabhidheyaṃ vā kalpayet vāgvastumātramevāsya syāt| pṛṣṭo vā na saṃprajānīyāduttare vā saṃmohamāpadyeta| yathāpi tadaviṣayatvāt|” iti|

kiñca, astiśaśaviṣāṇābhidhānābhidheyavannāstyuktirapi vāgvastumātraṃ viṣāṇākhyābhidheyārthasaṃbandhavihīnam| etena ṣaṣṭhaḥ skandhaḥ pratyuktaḥ| kiñca, pañcaskandhaviṣayaviparītajñānapratiṣedhāt| alātacakrabuddhipratiṣedhavat, dvicandrabuddhipratiṣedhavacca| uktaṃ hi bhagavatā-“ye kecidātmeti samanupaśyantaḥ samanupaśyanti sarve ta imāneva pañcopādānaskandhānsamanupaśyantaḥ samanupaśyanti” iti skandhaviṣaye caiṣā nityātmadravyabhrāntirityavadyotyate|

kiñca, nañaḥ sadasatpratiṣedhyaviṣayatvānupapatteśca| santaṃ tāvadarthaṃ na pratiṣeddhuma(m) samarthaḥ| yadi hi santamarthaṃ śaknuyātpratiṣeddhuṃ na rājāno hastyaśvaṃ vi(bi)bhṛyurṇa(rna) santi dasyava ityevaṃ brūyuḥ| ityukte dasyūnāmabhāva[:] syāt| na caitadasti| athāsantaṃ pratiṣedhayati, tenābhāvapratiṣedhādbhāva eva syāditi| tasmānnaño na goviṣāṇādi[:] nāpi śaśaḥ(śa) [viṣāṇādiḥ] pratiṣidhyate| kiṃ tarhi| śaśākāśadhātusaṃbandhabuddhyapekṣeṇa goviṣāṇādidravyāsaṃbandhabuddhayo'vadyotyante| siddhā sadālambanaiva buddhiḥ| evamanyatrāpi|

[307] rūpādau vastuni kṣīṇe satyevotpadyate matiḥ|
sā jñānasyāsanākārā śāstustathānyacittavat||

rūpādau khalvapivastunyabhyatīte satyeva buddhirutpadyate| na hyasadālambanā buddhirutpadyate| sadālambanā buddhirastītyupapāditam| na ca no dravyaṃ vinaśyatītyuktam| yadetada rūpādidravyaṃ pūrvānubhūtaṃ tadeva tatsmṛtyā gṛhyata ityupariṣṭādapi sādhayiṣyāmaḥ|

yā tarhi niruddhadevadattānusmṛtirdhaṭānusmṛtirvā sā kathaṃ jāyate ? atītānāga tayordevadattaghaṭaprajñaptyupādānayoriti| atra brūmaḥ| sāpi khalu sāvidyāsyāsadākārotpadyate sthānvā(ṇvā)dau puruṣādibuddhivat| niravidyasya tu śāstustattvākārā bhavati rūpādidharmamātrabuddhireva| tadyathā paracittavidaḥ svalakṣaṇākārā buddhirutpadyate| tatsāmarthyopādhi[va]śenānyathāpi jānīte| tadvattatsāmarthyeṇa bhāvinīṃ bhūtāṃ ca saṃjñā(jñāṃ) rūpādiṣu devadattaghaṭalakṣaṇāṃ pratipadyata iti||

itaśca sadatītānāgatam-
[308] harṣotpādabhayodvegasmṛtyutpatya(ttya)ṅgabhāvataḥ|

atītānāgataṃ hi mitramamitrau(traṃ) vā manasi kṛtvā harṣotpādabhayādayo'bhyupajāyante| te cānimittā na bhavitumarhanti| katham ? vartamānavat| | tadyathā sati vartamāne mitre'mitre vā harṣabhayādayo bhavanti nāsatīti tadvat|

kiñca,
sāṅgasya śaktyabhivyakteḥ sadīpaghaṭarūpavat||

vidyamānasya khalvanāgatasya vastuno'tītapratyutpannasahakārikāraṇasāmagrīgṛhītasya śaktimātramāvirbhavati| katham ? ‘sadīpaghaṭarūpavat|’ tadyathā tamasi vidyamānasya ghaṭarūpasya svātmodbhāvanaśaktiḥ pradīpādikāraṇasāmagrīsannidhāne sati bhavati tadvaditi| itaścāstyanāgatam||

[309] janīhākartṛ sādhyatvātpañcabhāvavikāravat|

tadyathā asti vipariṇamate vardhate kṣīyate vinaśyatīti sati mukhyasattāviṣṭe kartari ete pañca bhāvavikārā bhavanti| tadvajjāyata ityayamapi ṣaṣṭhaḥ bhāvavikāraḥ sati mukhyāviṣṭe kartari bhavitumarhatīti| kiñca jāyamānatā sattā naśyatā nāsāmānāghikaraṇye satyananyatāpattisaṅkaradoṣaprasaṅgāt| vaiyadhikaraṇyābhyupagame saṃbandhābhāvādekatra tadvyapadeśānupapattiḥ| kiñca, jāyamānatādikriyābhāve'stitvāyogāt| katham ? śaśaviṣāṇavaditi| upacārasatteti cet| na| mukhyasattāyāṃ satyāmupacārasadbhāvāt, vakṣyamāna(ṇa)doṣācca|

itaścāsti-
sataḥ kṛ(kri)yāṅgatādṛṣṭervikāryaprāpyakarmavat||

tadyathā vikārye karmaṇi sati karaṇaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ kāśātkaṭī karoti| prāpye ca karmaṇi sati grāmaṃ gacchati devadattaḥ sūryaṃ ca paśyatīti gamanadṛśikriye sati karmaṇi bhavataḥ| tadvannirvartye'pi karmaṇi mukhyadravyāstitve sati devadattakartṛkā ghaṭakriyopapadyata iti||

sāṃkhyaḥ paśyati-vidyamānameva jāyate| tadyathā kṣīre vidyamānaṃ dadhi, kāryakāraṇayorekatvāt| taṃ pratyapadiśyate-

[310] dvitīyaṃ janma jātasya vastuno nopapadyate||

yadi khalu kṣīre dadhyādayo vikārāḥ santi bīje cāṅkurādayaḥ śukraśoni(ṇi)te ca kalalādayaḥ, teṣāṃ jātānāṃ kṣīrādivajjanma punarṇa(rna) yujyate| yathā ca na yujyate tathā pūrvamevāviṣkṛtam|

vaiśeṣiko manyate-kapāleṣvavidyamānaṃ ghaṭadravyaṃ tantuṣu cāvidyamānaṃ paṭadravyaṃ kapālatantusaṃyogādutpadyate| gauṇyā ca kalpanayā viprakṛtā(ṣṭā ?)vasthāviṣayā janikartṛ sattā vyapadiśyata iti| asyāpyavayavidravyaṃ sahāvayavaiḥ pūrvameva vihitottaram| yatpunaruktamupacārasattayā janikarttopadiśyata ityatra brūmaḥ-

mukhyasattā guṇābhāvādgaunī(ṇī) sattā na vidyate||

na hi mukhyasattā[yāṃ] guṇābhāve'vayavābhāve vā kāraṇeṣu prāgutpattyabhāve vā kāryasattopacāro yujyate||

kasmāt ?
[311] sādharmye sati tadvṛttervyāhāraṃ madhuroktivat|

tadyathā madhuravāgdevadatta iti vāci mādhuryaguṇayuktasya guḍadravyasya madhuno vā sādharmyamabhilaṣaṇīyatā vidyate ityato vāci mādhuryaśabdaḥ prayujyate| kanyāmukhe ca candrakāntisādṛśyaṃ dṛṣṭvā candraśabdaḥ prayujyate| vāhīke ca jāḍyasādharmyādgośabdaḥ prayujyate-gaurayaṃ vāhīka ityevamādi| na ca tathā kaścidaguṇāvayavagandho'pi tantuṣu tatsaṃyoge vā prāgutpattyabhāve nirātmanaḥ kāryasyāstīti| na ca kāryaṃ kiñcidīṣatkṛtamupapadyate| niṣṭhāsattaikakālābhyupagamāt| prāgavyapadeśyaṃ vastumātraṃ viprakṛtaṃ jāyata iti cet| na| uktottaratvāt| mama tu candrakoṭīprakāśalakṣaṇo dṛṣṭānto vidyate|

āviṣṭaliṅgamukhyasya janmeṣṭaṃ dārakādivat|

ayaṃ hi janirabhiniṣkramaṇādivacano nāsatprādurbhāvavacanaḥ| katham ? ‘dāri(ra)kādivat’| tadyathā dārako mukhyasattāviṣṭo mātṛkukṣerniṣkramane(ṇe) jāyata ityucyate| tadvadatrāpīti|

dārṣṭāntikaḥ khalu brūte-kāraṇaśaktiṣu nirātmakajanikartrupacāraḥ pravartate| taṃ prati brūmaḥ-

[312] syātkhapuṣpaiḥ khamutphullaṃ syāñjaṭālaśca darduraḥ|
svabhāvo yadi bhāvanāṃ prāgabhūtvā samudbhavet||

na hyasataḥ kasyacicchaśaviṣāṇāderutpādo bhavati nairātmyāviśeṣasarvāsadutpattiprasaṅgāt| taddhetukānāṃ ca jāyamānajātanaśyatkāleṣvātmāstitvasthitaśaktīnāmanupapatteḥ| kāraṇānāṃ ca kāryātmakatvā[t] prāgutpatterasattvam, asattvādanupapattidoṣāpattiḥ| kutaśca nābhāvo bhāvībhavati ? sthitiśaktikriyā[']yogāt||

kathamayoga iti cet| tadāviṣkriyate-
[313] sthitiśaktiparityaktāndharmānnāśānvitodayān|
vada somya kathaṃ yāti pratītyā vastu vastutām||

iha khalu bhavatāmahetuko vināśaḥ sarvotpattimatāṃ nityasaṃnihitaḥ| tasmiṃśca sati janmasthitiśaktikriyā na vidyante, virodhāt| tāsvasatīṣu kāraṇamapi ce(cai)va vinaṣṭam| tadasminnasati kiṃ pratītya asannirātmakaṃ vastu vastutāṃ yātītyācakṣva| kathaṃ te kāryaṃ kāraṇaṃ vopapadyate ? satāṃ hi saṃjñāsaṃjñijñānajñeyakriyākāraṇahetuphalādīnāmanyonyāpekṣaprajñapteḥ| atha tavābhāvo na kaścidasti bhāvavirodhī, kathaṃ tarhi sa bhāvo naṣṭa ityucyate ? tasmādbhavato vāṅmātrametat, mama tu vidyamānayorevopakāryupakāra[ka]bhāvo yuktaḥ|

yasmāt-

[314] loke dṛṣṭaḥ satoreva parasparamanugrahaḥ|
tadvadevopaghāto'pi nāśvaśṛṅgāhivā(pā)dayoḥ||

anugrahopaghātayośca kāryakāraṇasaṃbandhopacāraśca satoreva bhavatītyāstanandhayebhyaḥ prasiddhametat, nāsatoḥ na ca sadasatoriti||

vaitulikaḥ kalpayati-
[315] yatpratītyasamutpannaṃ tatsvabhāvānna vidyate|

yatkhalu nisvabhāvaṃ nirātmakaṃ hetūnpratītya jāyate tasya khalu svabhāvo nāsti| na hi tatkāraṇeṣu pratyekamavasthitaṃ nāpi bhāgaśo nāpyanyatra kvacit| nāpi hetusamudāye tadrūpābhāvāt| yacca na kvacidasti tatkatamena svabhāvenotpatsyata iti nāsti svabhāvaḥ| yasya ca nāsti svabhāvaḥ tatkathamastītyucyate ? tasmādalātacakravannisvabhāvatvāt sarvadharmā nirātmāna iti|

taṃ pratyapadiśyate-
na vidyate svabhāvādyadvidyate tattato'nyathā||

brahmodyametat-yatpratītyasamutpannaṃ tatsaṃvṛtyātmanā vidyate vanasaṃghādivat| yatparamārthato vidyate taraya pratītyāvasthāśaktimūrtikriyādimātramutpadyata iti||

tasya tarhi hetavo vidyamānasya kamupakāraṃ kurvantīti ? atrābhidhīyate| na khalu dravyasvabhāvāstitvaṃ prati kañcidupakāraṃ kurvanti| na ca svabhāvasyāpekṣya prajñaptiḥ| kiṃ tarhi ?

[316] prakurvanti daśāmātraṃ hetavo vastunaḥ sataḥ|
rājatvaṃ rājaputrasya sātmakasyaiva mantriṇaḥ||

tadyathā'bhijātasya rājaputrasya vidyamānasya mantriṇaḥ sabalasamudayāḥ parigrahānugrahamātreṇopakurvanto rājatvaṃ kurvantyevamanāgatasya vastunaḥ sato hetupratyayāḥ sametya lakṣaṇamātra(traṃ) [varta]mānākhyamaiśvaryādhipatyaṃ kurvantītyavaboddhavyam||

anye punarvarṇayanti-
[317] dharmāṇāṃ sati sāmagrye sāmarthyamupajāyate|
citānāṃ paramānū(ṇū)nāṃ yadvadātmopalambhane||

yathā khalu paramānu(ṇu)saṃcayaścakṣuṣā gṛhyate, pratyekaṃ paramāna(ṇa)vo na gṛhyante, tathā kāraṇasāmagrye sati dharmāṇāṃ kriyāsāmarthyamupajāyata iti draṣṭavyam|

bhadantakumāralātaḥ paśyati-vātāyanapraviṣṭasyāṃ(syā)ntaḥpārśvadvaye'pi truṭayaḥ santi| raśmigatasya tu darśanamasya truṭe raśmipārśvagāstvanumeyāḥ| etena vyākhyātaṃ dharmāṇāmadhvayordvayorastitvam| prāpya jñānātiśayaṃ munayaḥ paśyanti, tāstu dhīrhi trikajā||

yastu manyate'tītaṃ karmābhāvībhavatyanāgataṃ ca na vidyate taṃ pratyapadiśyate-

[318] karmātītamasadyasya phalaṃ bhāvi karotyasat|
vyaktaṃ vandhyāsutastasya jāyate vyantarātmajāt||

na hi bhavato vartamānakālāstitvamupapadyate, atītānāgatahetuphalābhāvāt, vandhyāvyantaraputrajanmavat||

atra pratyavatiṣṭhante dārṣṭāntikāḥ-na brūmaḥ sarvathā'tītaṃ na vidyate| kiṃ tarhi ? dravyātmanā na vidyate prajñaptyātmanā tu saditi| tatra pratisamādhīyate-

[319] nāmasallakṣaṇābhāvād dravyasatyāṅkasiddhitaḥ|
anāgatābhyatītasya nāsti prajñaptisatyatā||

sopādānaṃ hi sarvaṃ prajñaptisat| na ca vartamānamupādānamupapadyate| anāgatābhyatītasya tasmānnirupādānasya prajñaptyabhāvādasadetat|

yadi tarhyanāgataṃ cakṣurādidravyaṃ vidyate kasmānna paśyati na dṛśyate na vijānāti ? na vyaktaṃ kāritrābhāvādī(di)ti||

tadatra kośakāraḥ praśnayati-
[320] ko vighnaḥ

yadi cakṣurvidyate kiṃ na paśyati ? vayaṃ brūmaḥ-
aṅgavaikalyam

dṛṣṭaṃ hi pradīpādyaṅgavaikalye vartamānasyāpi cakṣuṣo rūpādarśanam|
sa pratyācaṣṭe-sarvasya sadāstitve kuto'ṅgavaikalyam ? vayamācakṣmahe-

na tatsarvāstitā sadā|

traiyadhvikāni khalvatrāṅgāni vivakṣitāni| tatra keṣāñcidasāṃnidhyaṃ bhavati tadvaikalyātkāritraṃ na karotīti|

sa pratyācaṣṭe-
tatkathaṃ

kiṃ lakṣaṇātkāritraṃ tato vā dravyāt, kimanyadāhosvidananyaditi ? tatra vayaṃ prativadmaḥ-

śrūyatāṃ sadbhyaḥ

chātrāsanamadhyāsya na hi sarvajñapravacanagāmbhīryaṃ sadevakenāpi lokena śakyaṃ tarkamātreṇāvaboddhum| yasmātsomya-

durbodhā khalu dharmatā||

tathāpi tu śrūyatām||

[321] vartamānādhvasaṃpātāt sāmagryā'ṅgaparigrahāt|
labdhaśakteḥ phalākṣepaḥ kāritramabhidhīyate||

anāgatasya khalu dharmasya vartamānādhvasaṃpātādantaraṅgavahiraṅgasāmagryāṅgaparigrahāt labdhasāmarthyasya dharmasya yaḥ phalākṣepastatkāritramityucyate| sā ca vartamānakālā vṛttiḥ kāritramityākhyāyate| tatra yo brūte'nanyatkāritramiti tasya dravyasvabhāvaparityāgaḥ prasajyate||

śāstre tu khalu-
[322] na vartamānatā rūpamatītājāna(ta)tā na ca|
yato'to nādhvasaṃcārād rūpātmānyathateṣyate||

yadi dravyātmano nānyathātvaṃ kiṃ tarhi hetū[n] pratītya jāyate ? brūmaḥ-
[323] avasthā jāyate kācidvidyamānasya vastunaḥ|
tathā śaktistathā velā tathā sattā tathā kriyā||

tatrāvasthāśaktipracayakriyāpekṣā dravyavaśā śaktiḥ kriyāpekṣākṛtaṃ sāmarthyam| kriyāṇā(nā)gataphalā| dravyavṛttive(rve)lā kālo vartamānākhye(khyaḥ)| mūrtiḥ paramānu(ṇu)pracayaviśeṣaḥ| sattā prabodhākhyaṃ prajñaptisatyam| iti sarvametadantaraṅgabahiraṅgakāraṇasāmagrīsannidhānāpekṣāsaktasvarūpam||

atra sarvāstivādavibhraṣṭirvaituliko nirāhaḥ (ha)-vayamapi trīn svabhāvān kalpayiṣyāmaḥ| tasmai prativaktavyam-

[324] parikalpairjagadvyāptaṃ mūrkhacittānurañjibhiḥ|
yastu vidvanmanogrāhī parikalpaḥ sa durlabhaḥ||

te khalvete bhavatkalpitāstrayaḥ svabhāvāḥ pūrvameva pratyūḍhāḥ| evamanye'pyasatparikalpāḥ protsārayitavyāḥ| ityetadaparamadhvasa(saṃ)mohāṅkanāsthānaṃ kośakārakasyeti|

gatametatprāsaṅgikaṃ prakaraṇam| śāstramevānuvartatām||

vyākhyātamidaṃ yasminvastuni yaiḥ kleśairyadavasthairyaḥ saṃyuktaḥ| idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| yadvastvaprahīṇaṃ saṃyuktaḥ sa tasminvastuni ? yasmi vā vastuni saṃyukto'prahīṇaṃ tasya tadvastu ? yattāvadvastvaprahīṇaṃ saṃyuktaḥ sa tasminvastuni| syādvastuni saṃyukto na ca tadvastvaprahīṇaṃ yathā tāvaddarśanamārge|

[325] anyasarvatragairbaddhaḥ prahīṇe duḥkhadṛkkṣaye|

duḥkhajñāne utpanne samudayajñāne cānutpanne duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyaṃ vastu prahīṇaṃ bhavati| tasminprahīṇe'pi samudayadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyo'prahīṇaḥ, tadālambanaiḥ sarvatragaiḥ saṃyuktaḥ|

bhāvanāmārge'pi-
prahīṇe prākprakāre'pi śeṣaistadavalambibhiḥ||

navānāṃ prakārāṇāṃ yo yaḥ prakāraḥ pūrva prahīṇastasminprahīṇe'pi śeṣaistadavalambibhiḥ kleśaiḥ saṃyukto vijñātavyaḥ||

atha kasminvastuni katyanuśayā anuśerate ? atra cālambananiyama eva tāvaddarśayitavyaḥ| katamo dharmaḥ katamasya vijñānasyālambana[m] ? tata eva [ta]dvispaṣṭaṃ gamyate-amuṣminvastuni iyanto'nuśayā anuśerata iti| tadidamabhidharmagahvaraṃ pratārya(ya)te-

[326] dharmāḥ ṣoḍaṣa(śa) vijñeyāḥ pratyekaṃ tribhavātmakāḥ|
pañcadhā nirmalāścaiva vijñānāni tathaiva ca||

dharmāstāvat kāmarūpārūpyadhātuṣu pratyekaṃ pañcaprakārā duḥkhādidarśanaheyā apraheyāśca nirmalā iti ṣoḍaśa bhavanti| evaṃ vijñānāni draṣṭavyāni||

tatra tāvadābhidhārmiko'nyaiḥ pṛṣṭaḥ-
[327] dhātvāyatanasatyeṣu prakāreṣu ca lakṣayet|
dharmasaṃgrahavijñānajñānānuśayacoditaḥ||

dharmasaṃgrahavijñāne vā pṛṣṭo dhātvāyatanaskandheṣu pāda(ta)yitvā lakṣayet| jñāneṣu pṛṣṭaḥ satyeṣu pātayitvā lakṣayet| anuśayeṣu pṛṣṭaḥ prakāreṣu pātayitvā nirde(rdi)śet| evamasaṃmūḍho vyākarotīti||

tatra tāvat| vijñāneṣu ṣoḍaśadharmāścodyante| kasya vijñānasya katame dharmā gocarā iti ? tadāviṣkriyate-

[328] saduḥkhahetudṛggheyāḥ kāmāptā bhāvanākṣayāḥ|
svakatrayaikarūpāptivirajāścittagocarāḥ||

kāmāvacarāḥ khalu duḥkhasamudayadarśanabhāvanāprahātavyā dharmāḥ pratyekaṃ pañcānāṃ vijñānānāṃ gocarībhavanti| katameṣāṃ pañcānām ? sveṣāṃ trayāṇāṃ kāmāvacarasya duḥkhadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyasya vijñānasyālambanam| samudayadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyasya sarvatragasaṃprayuktasya| bhāvanāprahātavyasya kuśalasya| ekasya ca rūpāptasya bhāvanāprahātavyasya kuśalasyānāsravasya ceti| evaṃ samudayadarśaṇa(na)bhāvanāprahātavyāvapi vaktavyau||

eta eva trayo dharmāḥ
[329] ātmīyādhastrayaikordhvanirmalānāṃ tu rūpajāḥ|

rupāvacaro hi duḥkhadarśa[na]prahātavyo dharmaḥ aṣṭānāṃ vijñānānāmālambanam| svakatrayasyādharatrayasyordhvaikasyāmalasya ca| svadhātukasya trayasya pūrvavat| adharadhātukasya tu kāmāvacarayorduḥkhasamudayadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyavisabhāgadhātvālambanayoḥ| bhāvanāprahātavyasya ca kuśalasya ūrdhvaikasyārūpyāvacarasya bhāvanāprahātavyasya kuśalasyānāsravasya ca| evaṃ samudayadarśanabhāvanāprahātavyau vācyau|

ārūpyāptāstridhātvāptatrikanirmalagocarāḥ||

ārūpyāvacarāsta eva trayo dharmāḥ, daśānāṃ vijñānānāmālambanam| traidhātukānāṃ pratyekaṃ trayāṇām, eṣāmevānāsravasya ca| ityevaṃ ttā(tā)vat traidhātukāḥ duḥkhasamudayadarśaṇa(na)heyābhāvanāheyāśca dharmā uktāḥ||

[330] sarve svādhikavijñeyāḥ samaniryāṇadṛkkṣayāḥ|

sarva eva traidhātukāḥ nirodhamārgadarśanaheyāḥ svanaikāyikādhikaści(ci)ttagocarā vijñātavyāḥ| kāmāvacaro hi nirodhadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyo dharmo duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyādivat pañcānāṃ vijñānānāmālambanam| svanaikāyikasya cānirodhadarśanaprahātavyasyeti ṣaṇṇām| evaṃ mārgadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyo'pi veditavyaḥ| rūpāvacarau nirodhamārgadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyau pūrvavadaṣṭāṇāṃ(nāṃ) vijñānānāṃ pratyekamālambanaṃ svanaikāyikasya cādhikasyeti navānām| evamārūpyāvacarau pūrvavaddaśānāṃ svanaikāyikasya cādhikasyetyekādaśānāmālambanaṃ bhavataḥ| uktāḥ pañcadaśadharmāḥ|

niṣkleśāstribhavāptāntyatrayanirmalagocarāḥ||

traidhātukānāṃ pañcānāṃ prakārāṇāṃ pratyekaṃ ye'ntyāstrayaḥ prakārā ṇi(ni)rodhamārgadarśaṇa(na)bhāvanāheyākhyāḥ, teṣāṃ navānāmanāsravasya ceti| evamanāsravā dharmā daśānāṃ vijñānānāmālambanaṃ bhavanti||

punaraṣyeṣa evārthapiṇḍaḥ ślokenāvadyotyate-
[331] kāmāpta(ptaṃ) pañcaviṣayo rūpāptaṃ tvaṣṭagocaraḥ|
ārupyāptaṃ daśānāṃ tu daśānāmeva cāmalam||

duḥkhasamudayadarśaṇa(na)bhāvanāheyānuśayasaṃprayuktaṃ vijñānaṃ traidhātukamanāsravaṃ ca pañcāṣṭadaśadaśavijñānagocaram| evameṣāṃ ṣoḍaśānāṃ dharmāṇāmetāni ṣoḍaśacittāni traidhātukāni pañcaprakārānya(ṇya)nāsravaṃ ca vyavasthāpyānuśayakāryaṃ yojayitavyam|

tatra tāvatkāmāvacaraduḥkhadarśanaprahātavyā dharmā daśānuśayāḥ, tatsaṃprayuktāśca cittacaitasikā dharmāḥ salakṣaṇānulakṣaṇaḥ(ṇāḥ) aprāptiprāptiprāptayaḥ| ete dharmā viṣayaḥ pañcānāṃ vijñānānām, duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyasya sarvasya vijñānasya, samudayadarśaṇa(na)heyasya sarvatragasaṃprayuktasya, bhāvanāheyasya kuśalasyākliṣṭasya, dvividhasya kuśalasāsravasyāvyākṛtasya ca, rūpāvacarasyākliṣṭasya kuśalasāsravasya, akliṣṭasyāvyākṛtasya ca kuśalasyoṣmagatādivimokṣāprahā(mā)ṇādisaṃprayuktasya| avyākṛtasya tu vipākajasya manobhaumasya sukhasaumanasyopekṣāsaṃprayuktasyānāsravasya ca duḥkhadharmajñānasamudayadharmajñānatatkṣāntisaṃprayuktasya vijñānasya|

tatrānāsrave vijñāne na kecidanuśayā anuśerate| sāsrave tu tatra tāvat-
[332] kāmāptamūrdhvadharmārthe vijñāne svabhuvastrayaḥ|
rūpāptā bhāvanāheyāḥ sarvagāścānuśerate||

kāmāptaduḥkhadarśaṇa(na)prahātavye vijñāne kāmāvacarā duḥkhasamudayabhāvanāheyāḥ sarve'nuśerate| rūpāvacare tvakliṣṭe kāmāvacaradharma gocarā eva rūpāvacarāḥ sarvatragāḥ, bhāvanāheyāścānuśerate||

[333] catvāraḥ parivṛtte sve rūpāptāḥ khalvapi trayaḥ|
ārūpyāvacarāḥ sārdhaṃ sarvagairbhāvanākṣayāḥ||

parivṛtte tu khalvālambanālambane vijñāna ityarthaḥ| pūrvakāḥ kāmāvacararūpāvacarā yathoktāḥ| [kenā]dhikībhavanti ? kāmāvacarastāvaca(cca)turtho nikāyo mārgadarśanaprahātavyaḥ| kathaṃ kṛtvā ? yattadduḥkhasamudayajñānaṃ tatkṣāntisaṃprayuktaṃ vijñānaṃ kāmāvacaraduḥkhadarśaṇa(na)heyadharmālambanam| tatkhalvālambanaṃ mārgadarśaṇa(na)heyamithyādṛṣṭivicikitsā'vidyāsaṃprayuktasya vijñānasya| tasminvijñāne te[']nāsravālambanāḥ saṃprayogato'nuśerate| sāsravālambanāḥ ālambanataḥ| evaṃ kāmāvacarāścatvāro nikāyā bhavanti|

rūpāvacare vijñāne sarvatragasaṃprayukte tvasarvatragālambate (?)| evaṃ rūpāvacarāstri(stra)yo nikāyā bhavanti| tasya tu caturthadhyānabhaumasyākliṣṭasya vijñānasya kāmadhātvālambanasyoṣmagatavimokṣāpramānā(ṇā) śubhādisaṃprayuktasyopekṣopavicārasaṃyuktasya vijñānasyālambanam| tatpunarākāśānantyāyatanasāmantakena kuśalenālambyate| atastatrārūpyāḥ sarvatragā bhāvanāheyāścānuśerate| uktaṃ duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyam|

[334] tadvadeva dvitīye'pi pañcame'pi tathaiva ca|

evaṃ samudayadarśanabhāvanāprahātavyayorapi vijñānayorthathoktayordraṣṭavyam| ayaṃ tu viśeṣaḥ| duḥkhe duḥkhadarśaṇa(na)heyāḥ sarve, samudayasarvatragāśca| samudaye tu samudayadarśanaheyāḥ sarve, duḥkhadarśanaheyāśca sarvatragāḥ| anyatsarvaṃ samānam|

sāsravālambanāḥ sve ca tṛtīye'pyanuśerate||

nirodhadarśanaprahātavyaṃ tṛtīyaṃ vijñānam| tatrāpyete ca trayo nirodhadarśanaheyāśca sāsravālambanāḥ||

[335] parivṛtte tu kāmāptāḥ saṃskṛtārthāvalambinaḥ|

parivṛtte tu vijñāne kāmāvacarāścatvāro ṇi(ni)kāyāḥ, nirodhadarśaṇa(na)heyālambanāśca sāsravālambanāḥ| ye hyaṇā(nā)sravālambanāste nirvānā(ṇā)lambane vijñāne'nuśerate, na vijñānālambane|

śeṣaṃ pūrvavadākhyeyam

pūrve catvāro ṇi(ni)kāyāḥ, duḥkhasamudayamārgabhāvanāheyāścānuśerata ityarthaḥ|

caturthe'pi tṛtīyavat||

caturthe'pi khalu mārgadarśanaheye vijñāne kāmāvacarāstrayo mārgadarśaṇa(na)heyāśca sāsravālambanā rūpāvacarāḥ savatragā bhāvanāheyāśca ||

[336] parivṛtte tu kāmāptāścatvāro'nyatra pūrvavat|

catvāro duḥkhasamudayamārgadarśanabhāvanāheyākhyāḥ rūpāvacarāḥ, kāmāvacarāsrayaḥ, ārūpyāvacarāścatvāro nirodhadarśanaheya(yaṃ) muktvā| mārgācca trayaḥ| samāptaṃ rūpāvacaram|

[341] sve trayaḥ kāmadhātvāptā rūpāptāśca trayastrayaḥ|

samāptāni ṣoḍaśacittāni| teṣu cānuśayanidaśaḥ kṛtaḥ| adhunā cakṣurindriyādīnāṃ vaktavyaḥ| so'yamupadiśyate-

[344] bhāvanāpathahātavyo nikāyaḥ sarvagaiḥ saha|
anuśete dvidhātvāpto vyārūpyāścakṣurindriye||

cakṣurindriye khalu bhāvanāheyāḥ sarvatragāścānuśayāḥ kāmāvacararūpāvacarā anuśerate| evaṃ yāvatkāyendriye cakṣurdhātau rūpadhātau cakṣurvijñānadhātau yāvadvistareṇa kāyavijñānadhātau yāvadrūpaskandhe vācyam||

dviṣparāvṛtte tu cakṣurindriyaṃ khalvālambanaṃ duḥkhasamudayadharmajñānakṣāntisaṃprayuktasya cittasya| tatpunarālambanaṃ kāmāvacaramārgadarśanaprahātavyam| mithyādṛṣṭivicikitsā'vidyā[ta]tsaṃprayuktānāṃ vijñānānām| teṣu vijñāneṣvanāsravālambanāḥ saṃprayogataḥ, sāsravālambanāstvālambanato'nuśerate| evaṃ caturtho nikāyo vardhate mārgadarśanaheyaḥ| tadevaṃ sati kāmāvacarāścatvāraḥ, ārūpyāvacarāścatvāraḥ, sarve'bhisamasya traidhātukāścatvāro bhavanti|

ākāśānantyāyatanasya khalu kuśalasya cakṣurindriyamālambanam| tatrārūpyāḥ sarvatragā bhāvanāheyāścānuśerate| tatrāpi sarvatragasaṃprayukte cetasi asarvatragā vardhanta iti trayo bhavanti| duḥkhasamudayālambanajñānakṣāntisaṃprayuktasya ca vijñānasya cakṣurindriyamālambanam| tadārupyamārgadarśanaprahātavyasya mithyādaṣṭyādisaṃprayukttasya vijñānasyālambanam| tatra te'nāsravālambanāḥ saṃprayogataḥ, sāsravālambanāḥ ālambanataḥ| evamārūpyāvacarā api catvāro nikāyā bhavantīti||

paravṛtte tu catvāraḥ kāmāptā anuśerate||

[349] trayo rūpabhavādantyādbhāvanāheyasarvagāḥ|
sakalā dviṣparāvṛtteścatvāraścānuśerate||

[350] sukhendriye tadālambe citte tadgocare'pi ca|
kāmādyāptāḥ yathāyogaṃ sarvagāścānuśerate||

tatra tāvat| sukhendriyaṃ saptavidham| kāmāvacaraṃ bhāvanāprahātavyam, rūpāvacaraṃ pañcaprakāram, anāsravaṃ ceti| tadetatsamāsato dvādaśavidhasya vijñānasyālambanaṃ bhavati| kāmāvacarasya catuṣprakārasya anyatra nirodhadarśanaheyāt, rūpāvacarasya pañcaprakārasya, ārūpyāvacarasya dviprakārasya mārgadarśanabhāvanāheyasya [a]nāsravasya ca| idaṃ dvādaśavidhaṃ sukhendriyālambanaṃ vijñānam| tatra yathāyogaṃ kāmāvacarāścatvāro nikāyāḥ rūpāvacarāḥ saṃskṛtāvalambanāḥ, ārūpyāvacarau dvau nikāyau, sarvatragāścānuśayā anuśerata iti|

tatpunaḥ sukhendriyālambanaṃ vijñānaṃ yasya cittasyālambanaṃ taccittaṃ sukhendriyā lambanālambanam| tasmin katyanuśayā'nuśerate ? tatkhalu sukhendriyālambanaṃ dvādaśavidhaṃ cittaṃ katamasya vijñānasyālambanam ? tasyaiva ca dvādaśavidhasyārūpyāvacarasya ca bhūyo dviprakārasya duḥkhasamudaya[darśana] prahātavyasya| idaṃ caturdaśavidhaṃ sukhendriyālambanaṃ vijñānam| tatrārūpyāvacarau duḥkhasamudayadarśanaheyau vardhayitvā kāmāvacarā ārūpyāvacarāśca catvāro nikāyāḥ, rūpāvacarāśca saṃskṛtālambanā anuśayā'nuśerata iti ‘yathāyoga’-vacanāt, ‘api’śabdācca draṣṭavyam||

[351] tridhātusaṃgṛhītāstu sakalā manaindriye|
tadālambini vijñāne sarvasaṃskṛtagocarāḥ||

manaindriye khalu sarvatraidhātukāḥ ye'pi te nirvāṇālambanāste'pi saṃprayogataḥ| manaindriyālambanaṃ khalu vijñānaṃ saṃskṛtālambanam| atastatrā(tra) saṃskṛtālambanāste'nuśayā anuśerate|

[352] saṃskṛtālambanā eva parivṛtte'nuśerate|
viśeṣo dviḥparāvṛttau vidyate'tra na kaścana||

pūrvanītya(tyā) vā'tra parivṛtte['nuśa]yakāryaṃ boddhavyam| dviṣparāvṛtte'pyatra na kaścidviśeṣa iti draṣṭavyam||

adhunā ṣoḍaśānāṃ cittānāṃ kasya cittasya samanantaraṃ kati cittānyutpadyanta ityupadiśyante(te)|

[353] duḥkhaṃ darśanaheyādeścittāccittāni kāminaḥ|
bhavatyanantaraṃ ṣaḍ vā tasyorddhvaṃ pañca pañca vā||

kāmadhātūpapannasya duḥkhadarśanaheyādeścittādanantaraṃ svabhūmikāni pañca, ṣaṣṭhaṃ ca bhāvanāprahātavyaṃ prathamadhyānasāmantakāt| sa yadā kāmadhātau(to)ścyutvā rūpadhātāvupapadyate tasya tatratyāni pañca bhavanti| evamārūpyeṣūpapadyamānasyārūpyāni(ṇi) pañca bhavantīti||

[354] rūpadhātūpapannasya cittāni tu vinirdiśet|
ekaṃ vā pañca vā ṣaḍ vā sapta vā yadi vā daśa||

tatra ‘ekam’ vītarāgasyoparisāmantakādbhāvanāmayam| ‘ṣaḍ’ vītarāgasya kāmāvacaraṃ bhāvanāprahātavyaṃ nirmāṇacittaṃ prathamadhyānaphalam| ‘pañca’ svabhaumāni| ‘sapta vā’ uparisāmantakādbhāvanāprahātavyaṃ kuśalaṃ sāsravam| ‘daśa vā’ rūpebhyaḥ pracyutasya kāmarūpeṣūpapadyamānasyeti||

[355] ārūpyadhātujātasya cittānīmāni lakṣayet|
svadhātukāni pañcaiva cyutikāle daśānyataḥ||

rūpakāmeṣūpapadyamānasya tatratyāni daśa bhavanti| svāni pañca pañcānyataḥ| gatametat||

idānīṃ vaktavyam| atha yadidaṃ sānuśayaṃ cittamuktaṃ tatkatham ? ityatrābhidhīyate-

[356] sācivyādanuśāyitvāccittaṃ sānuśayaṃ matam|
dvidhā vā kliṣṭamakliṣṭamekadhaivāpadiśyate||

dvābhyāṃ khalu prakārābhyāṃ cittaṃ sānuśayamucyate| sācivyabhāvenānuśāyitvena ca| tatra kliṣṭaṃ dvābhyāṃ kāraṇābhyāṃ sānuśayaṃ yadaprahīna(ṇa)kleśam| akliṣṭaṃ punarekadhā sācivyabhāvanaiveti| tatra kliṣṭaṃ cittamanuśayaiḥ saṃprayuktairaprahīṇaiḥ sānuśayaṃ tadālambanaiścāprahīṇaiḥ|

kathamiha yo'nuśayo yena cittena saṃprayuktaḥ sa khalvaprahīna(ṇa)stasmiṃścitte'nuśete ? yāvaddhi tadanuśayānuprāptiviśeṣeṇa sā cittasantatiravaṣṭabdhā cādhiṣṭhitā ca bhavati, niṣyandaphalasya cānāgatasya tasyāṃ cittasantatau sabhāgaheturutpattaye kṛtāspado bhavati, tāvadasāvanuśayastaśmiṃścetasyanuśeta ityucyate| tasya punaḥ kleśāśīviṣasya prāptidraṃṣṭrāvabhaṅge kṛte vidyamāno'pi san kleśastasmiṃścetasyanarthānutpādanāt sannapi saṃprayogataḥ nānuśeta ityucyate| nityaṃ ca tadālambanato kāritrākaraṇāt, tasminnālambane mārgavidūṣaṇākāradūṣite ālambanato'pi nānuśeta ityucyate| na tu kadācinmuñjeśīkāvaduddhṛtya śakyate tasmāt kleśaḥ cittātpṛthakkartuṃ nirnāśayituṃ vā svālambanādvā vimukhīkartum| uktaṃ hi- “yo dharmo yasya dharmasyālambanaṃ kadācitsa dharmastasya dharmasya nālambanam ? āha-na kadācit” iti| atastaccittaṃ sahāyabhāvena sānuśayaṃ sahāyabhāvasyāparityāgāt| na tvanuśayabhāvena sānuśayaṃ tatrānarthānutpādanāt|

kataratpunaścittaṃ sānuśayam ? traidhātukaṃ pratyekaṃ pañcaprakāram| punaḥ pratyekaṃ dvidhā bhidyate| sarvatragāsarvatragasāsravā nāsravālambanā(na)kliṣṭākliṣṭabhedaiḥ|

tatra duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyaṃ satkāyadṛṣṭisaṃprayuktam| tayā ca satkāyadṛṣṭyā tatsaṃprayuktayā cāvidyayā sahāyabhāvena cānuśayāne ca sānuśayam| śeṣaiḥ svanikāyikaiḥ samudayadarśanaprahātavyaiśca sarvatragairanuśayabhāvenaiva| śeṣarnobhayathā| evaṃ sarvaiḥ duḥkhadarśanaprahātavyaṃḥ samudayadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyaiśca saṃprayuktaṃ cittaṃ yathāyogamabhyūhitavyam|

nirodhadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyaṃ mithyādṛṣṭisaṃprayuktam| tathaiva tatsaṃprayuktayā cāvidyayobhayathā| śeṣaiḥ svānikāyikasāsravālambanaiḥ sarvatragaiścānuśayabhāvenaiva| svānikāyikānāsravālambanaistadanyaiśca nobhayathā| evamanyairṇi(rni)rodhadarśanaprahātavyaiḥ mārgadarśanaprahātavyaiśca yathāsaṃbhavaṃ vaktavyam|

bhāvanāprahātavyaṃ rāgasaṃprayuktam| tenaiva tatsaṃprayuktayā cāvidyayobhayathā| śeṣairbhāvanāprahātavyaiḥ sarvatragaiścānuśayairbhāvanairvā| anyairnobhayathā| evamanyadbhāvanāheyasaṃprayuktamapi yathāyogaṃ vācyam|

akliṣṭantu svānikāyikaiḥ sarvatragaiścānuśayā(ya)bhāvenaiva sānuśayamiti||

kaḥ punareṣāmanuṣa(śa)yānāṃ pravṛttyanukramaḥ ? taducyate| mohastāvat sarvakleśāgraṇī, tasmātkleśapuroyāyinaḥ|

[357] mohātsatkāyadṛktasyā antagrāhekṣaṇaṃ tataḥ|
kāṅkṣāmithyekṣaṇaṃ tasyāḥ śīlāmarśastato dṛśaḥ||

[358] rāgaḥ su(sva)dṛśi mānaśva dveṣo'nyatra pratāyate|
jñeyaḥ pravṛttibāhulyādevameṣāmanukramaḥ||

iha tāvad bālasya pañcopādānaskandhātmake duḥkhe saṃmugdhasya phalabhūtā[n] pañcopādānaskandhānajānataḥ satkāyadṛṣṭirūpajāyate| sattvajīvapudgalātmagrāhayogena| tato'sya tacchāśvatocchedāntagrāhalakṣaṇā'ntagrāhadṛṣṭiḥ| tasyaivaṃ bhavati-yadi tāvadayaṃ nityo'vikārī puruṣaḥ kiṃ dharmeṇa yaḥ sukhena nānugṛhyate, duḥkhena vā notpīḍyate| athāyamucchedadharmā'nityastathāpi kiṃ dharmi(rme)ṇeti vicārayataḥ kāṃkṣo(kāṅkṣo)tpadyate| kāṃkṣā(kāṅkṣā)pravṛddhyā mithyādarśaṇa(na)māvahati| tadakāraṇe kāraṇābhiniveśānnihīnaṃ cāgrato grahaṇāt śīlavratadṛṣṭiparāmarśāvākarṣati| tato'sya ‘rāgaḥ svadṛśi mānaśca dveṣo'nyatra pratāyate|’ tasya khalu mithyādarśanabhūtagrahāvedha śādaśreyasi śreyobuddhyā pravṛttasyānagra(gre) cāgryabuddhyabhiniviṣṭasya svapakṣe rāgo bhavati parapakṣe ca dveṣaḥ pravartate| ityataḥ tya(tat) ‘jñeyaḥ pravṛttibāhulyādevameṣāmanukramaḥ’||

vayaṃ tu paśyāmaḥ
[359] sadasanmitrayogāttu tadvṛttyaniyamo mataḥ|

kalyāṇamitrapāpamitrasaṃsargāddhi prāyeṇa śraddhādīnāṃ guṇānāmeṣāṃ ca kleśānāṃ samu[dā]cārapravṛttiḥ ācāryāṇāmabhimateti| sa punareṣaḥ-

kleśa utpadyate kaścitsaṃpūrṇaiḥ kāraṇaistribhiḥ||

hetuprayogaviṣayabalaiḥ kaścit tribhirutpadyate| kaścid dvābhyāmiti| tatra hetubalaṃ sabhāgasarvatragādihetubhāvanā'gatotpattaye vartamānaprāptyutsarge meghikādinidarśaṇā(nā)t| prayogabalamapyayoṇi(ni)śo manaskārādisaṃnidhānam| pratyayabalamaparijñātaviṣayābhāsagamanaṃ nidarśaṇa(na)marhatparihāṇisūtramiti||

atha ya ime bhagavatā traya āsravā ākhyātāḥ- “kāmāsravo bhavāsravo'vidyāsravaśca|” eṣāṃ kaḥ svabhāvaḥ ? tadidamārabhyate-

[360] vyavidyāḥ sakalāḥ kleśāḥ kāme kāmāsravo mataḥ|
styānauddhatye ca hitvordhvaṃ samānatvādbhavāstravaḥ||

sarve hye[te sa]mānā nivṛtāvyākṛtatvādantarmukhapravṛttatvācca|ḥ
[361] avidyākhyastu mūlatvādavidyā sārvadhātukī|

avidyā khalu saṃsāramūlam| uktaṃ hi bhagavatā-“avidyāpratyayāḥ saṃskārāḥ|” tathā-“yāḥ kāścana durgatayo'smilloke paratra ca|

sarvāstā avidyāmūlikāḥ ” iti|

tatra tāvatkāmāsravaḥ ekacatvāriṃśad dravyāni(ṇi)| rāgapratighamānāḥ pratyekaṃ pañcaprakāratvāt pañcadaśa bhavanti| vicikitsāḥ catasraḥ| dṛṣṭayo dvādaśa| daśa paryavasthānāni| ityetānyekacatvāriṃśad dravyāni(ṇa) kāmāsrava ityākhyāyate|

bhavāsravaḥ catuṣpañcāśad dravyāni(ṇi)| rāgamānau viṃśatiḥ| aṣṭau vicikitsāḥ| caturviṃśati dṛṣṭayo'vidyā(dyāṃ) hitvā| dve ca paryavasthāne styānauddhatyākhye, paratantratvāt|

avidyāsravaḥ pañcadaśadravyāni| tāni piṇḍenāṣṭottaraṃ dravyaśatamāsravāṇāṃ svabhāvaḥ|

tathaughayogā dṛgvarjjaṃ tatpṛthaktvantu pāṭavāt||

kāmāsrava eva khalu kāmaughaḥ kāmayogaśca| dṛṣṭī varjayitvā| dṛṣṭayastu paṭutvātpṛthagogheṣu yogeṣu ca vyavasthāpyante| haraṇaśleṣaṇakāryapradhānabhūtā hi dṛṣṭayaḥ| yathā hi sarve kleśāḥ dṛṣṭivarjyāḥ, apaharanti śleṣayanti ca tathaivaikākinyo'pi dṛṣṭaya iti| tadevaṃ sati kāmaugha ekānnatriṃśat dravyāṇi| rāgapratighamānāḥ pañcadaśa| vicikitsāścatasraḥ| daśa paryavasthānānīti|

bhavaugho'ṣṭāviṃśatirdravyāṇi| rāgamānā viṃśatiḥ| vicikitsā aṣṭau| dṛṣṭyoghaḥ ṣaṭtriṃśad dravyāṇi| avidyaughaḥ pañcadaśadravyāṇi| evameva yogā draṣṭavyāḥ||

[362] sā'vidyā dve upādāne yathākto(ktau) dve tu dṛṅmaye|
catasro'pyekamantyaikaṃ kumārgādisamāśrayāt||

[363] śeṣāstraidhātukāstvantye sātmabhāvapravṛttitaḥ|

tatra kāmayoga eva sahā'vidyayā kāmopādānaṃ catustriṃśad dravyāṇi| rāgapratighamānāvidyā viṃśatiḥ| vicikitsāścatasraḥ| daśaparyavasthānāni|

bhavayoga eva sahāvidyayā ātmavādopādānam, aṣṭātriṃśad dravyāṇi| rāgamānāvidyāstriṃśat| vicikitsā aṣṭau|

dṛṣṭiyogācchīlavrataṃ niṣkṛṣya dṛṣṭyupādānaṃ triśad dravyāṇi| śīlavratopādānaṃ ṣaḍdravyāṇi| kasmātpunarete(ta)d dri(dṛ)ṣṭibhyo niṣkṛṣṭam ? ‘kumārgādisamāśrayāt|’ mārgapratidvandvabhūtaṃ hyetadubhayapakṣavipralabhbhakaṃ ca| gṛhino(ṇo)'pi hyanena vipralabdhāḥ anaśanādibhiḥ svargamārgasaṃjñayā| pravrajitā apīṣṭaviṣayavivarjane śuddhipratyāgamanāditi|

‘śeṣāstraidhātukāḥ|’ dṛṣṭayo dṛṣṭyupādānam| traidhātukāśca śīlavrataparāmarśāḥ parāmarśopādānam| kāmāsravastu ekadhātukaḥ| bhavāsravastu dvidhātukaḥ| tasmādeva tat ‘antyam’ dvayaṃ sārvadhātukameva| ‘ātmabhāvapravṛttitaḥ |’ ātmabhāvālambanapravṛttaṃ khalvetaditi|

te khalvete anuśayāḥ

saṃyojanādibhiḥ śabdairdarśitāḥ pañcadhā punaḥ||

saṃyojanabandhanānuśayopakleśaparyavasthānabhedena pañcadhā bhittvoktāḥ|

[364] nava saṃyojanānyasminnīrṣyāmātsaryameva ca|
dravyāmarṣaṇasāmānyād dṛśaḥ saṃyojanadvayam||

[365] śeṣānya(ṇya)nuśayāḥ pañca

nava khalu sayojanāni sūtra uktāni-anunayapratighamānāvidyādṛṣṭiparāmarśavicikitserṣyāmātsaryasaṃyojanāni|

tatrānunayasaṃyojanaṃ traidhātuko rāgaḥ| evamanyāni yathāyogaṃ vaktavyāni| dṛṣṭisaṃyojanaṃ tisro dṛṣṭayaḥ parāmarśasaṃyojanaṃ dve dṛṣṭī|

kiṃ punaḥ kāraṇaṃ saṃyojaneṣu tisro dṛṣṭayo dṛṣṭisaṃyojanaṃ pṛthaguktam ? dve punardṛṣṭī parāmarśasaṃyojanaṃ pṛthagiti ? taducyate-‘dravyāmarṣaṇasāmānyād dṛśaḥ saṃyojanadvayam |’ aṣṭādaśadravyāni(ṇi) khalu tisro dṛṣṭayaḥ| aṣṭādaśaiva dve parāmarśadṛṣṭī| dvayośca nāmasāmānyam| tasmādetad dvayamekaṃ saṃyojanamuktamiti|

punarapyanyatra bhagavānsaṃyojanam

pañcadhā pañcadhā punaḥ|
jagādāvarabhāgīyamūrdhvabhāgīyameva ca||

[366] ādyantye dve dṛśau kāṃkṣā(kāṅkṣā)kāmacchando dvireva yaḥ|

tatra pañca saṃyojanānyavarabhāgīyāni| tadyathā-satkāyadṛṣṭiḥ śīlavrataparāmarśo vicikitsā kāmacchando vyāpāda iti| ete hi kāmadhātuhitatvādavarabhāgīyā ityucyate(nte)| avarā hi kāmadhātūretāni ca tadanuguṇāni| yasmāt

dvābhyāṃ kāmānatikrāntiḥ punarāṇa(na)yanaṃ tribhiḥ||

kāmacchandavyāpādābhyāṃ kāmadhātuṃ nātikrāmati| satkāyadṛṣṭyādibhistribhiratikrānto'pi punarāvartate dauvārikānucarasādharmyāt|

anye punarāhuḥ-tribhiḥ sattvāvaratāṃ nātikrāmati pṛthagjanatvam, dvābhyāṃ dhātvavaratāṃ kāmadhātumiti|

yadā khalu strotaāpannasya paryādāya trisaṃyojanaprahāṇe ṣaṭ kleśāḥ prahīṇāḥ kimarthaṃ tisro dṛṣṭīrapahāya trayānā(-traya)mevāha satkāyadṛṣṭī(ṣṭiṃ) śīlavrataparāmarśaṃ vicikitsāṃ ca ? taducyate-

[367] dvyekadṛggheyakāryokterdṛṣṭiheyamukhagrahāt|
sarvadṛggheyabhāktve'pi trayametadudāhṛtam||

pravartakagrahaṇe khalu pravartyamapi gahītaṃ bhavati pradīpālokavat| tatra satkāyadṛṣṭyā tatpravartitā'ntagrāhadṛṣṭirgṛhītā| śīlavrataparāmarśeṇa dṛṣṭiparāmarśaḥ pravartitaḥ| vicikitsayā mithyādṛṣṭiḥ pravartitā| ato hetugrahaṇātkāryagrahaṇaṃ veditavyam|

athavā trividhā kleśāḥ-ekaprakārāḥ, dviprakārāḥ, catuṣprakārāśca| tatra satkāyadṛṣṭyā ekaprakārā gṛhītāḥ| śīlavrataparāmarśena dviprakārāḥ| vicikitsayā catuṣprakārāḥ gṛhītā bhavatī(ntī) ti||

vayaṃ brūmaḥ-
[368] sarvānarthanidānatvānmārgapratyarthibhāvataḥ|
tathyohāvidhuratvācca trisaṃyojanadeśanā||

satkāyadṛṣṭiḥ khalu sarvānarthamalānāṃ kleśasya ca bhavatrayasya ca mūlam| atastayotkhātayā sarvānarthavṛkṣasyotsādanaṃ bhavati| mārgasya ca sadbhūtasya pratyarthibhūtaḥ kumārgāvalambī śīlavrataparāmarśaḥ| tena prahīṇena sanmārgeṇa mokṣapurapraveśo bhavati| samyagdṛṣṭyādimārgapratipattipratibandhabhūtā ca vicikitsā| tayā prahīna(ṇa)yā samyagdṛṣṭisaṃkalpapuraḥsaro mārgo nirvibandhaḥ pravartate| ityaṣṭāśītyanuśayaprahāṇe'pi sati trayāṇāmeva grahaṇam|

vaibhāṣāḥ punaḥ paśyanti-mokṣāntarāya(yāḥ)trayodbhāvanāḥ| yathā khalu trayo'ntarāyā mārgagamane bhavantyagantukāmatā'nyamārgagrahaṇaṃ mārgabahutvasaṃdehācca mārgagamanāpratipattiḥ| evaṃ mokṣagamane trayo'ntarāyā bhavanti| satkāyadṛṣṭyā mokṣādutrā(ttrā)saṃ gatasyāgantukāmatā bhavati| śīlavrataparāmarśenānyamārgagrahaṇāt mārgavibhrāntiḥ| vicikitsā mārgasaṃśaye sati mārgāpratipatti[ritye]ṣāṃ mokṣagamanāntarāyāṇāṃ prahāṇaṃ strotaāpannasya dyotayadbhagavānkleśatrayasyaiva grahaṇamakārṣīditi||

yathā ca pañcavidhamapa(va)rabhāgīyaṃ saṃyojanamuktavāṃstathā pañcordhvabhāgīyāṇi(ni)saṃyojanānyākhyātavāṃ(vān) sūtre|

[369] dvau rūpārūpajau rāgau mānamohoddhavāstrayaḥ|

pañca khalurdhvabhāgīyāṇi(ni) saṃyojanāni| tadyathā-rūparāgaḥ, ārūpyarāgaḥ, auddhatyam, māno'vidyā ca| eṣāmaprahīṇānāṃ ūrdhvadhātudvayaṃ nātikrāmanti sattvāḥ| samāptaḥ saṃyojanādhikāraḥ|

bandhanānīdānīmucyante| trīṇi bandhanāni| rāgo bandhanaṃ dveṣo moho bandhanam| ebhistraidhātukāḥ sattvāḥ saṃsāracārake baddhāḥ yathāyogam| kasmātpunaretāni bandhanānītyuktāni ? taducyate-

trivedanānuśāyitvād dṛḍhatvādbandhanatrayam||

trivedanāvaśātkhalu bandhanatrayamuktam| tatra sukhāyāṃ vedanāyāṃ rāgo'nuśerate| duḥkhāyāṃ dveṣaḥ| aduḥkhāsukhāyāṃ mohaḥ| ete ca trayo mūlakleśāḥ ṣaḍvijñānabhaumāḥ pañcaprakārāḥ| tasmādete dṛḍhatvād bandhanaśabdenoktāḥ||

punaranye bhagavatā sūtre-
[370] dvipakṣagranthanād granthāścatvāraḥ samudāhṛtāḥ|
abhidhyākhyāstathā dveṣaḥ parāmarśadvayaṃ tathā||

tatra gṛhī abhidhyayā viṣayeṣu grathitastadvyāghātakartṛṣu vivādamārabhamāno dveṣeṇānubadhyate| pravrajitaḥ śīlavrataparāmarśagrathitastadapavādaśravaṇādidameva satyamiti satyābhiniveśaparāmarśena dṛṣṭiparāmarśākhyena badhyate| iti catvāro bhavanti||

[371] upakleśāstu vijñeyāḥ saṃrambhādyā yathoditāḥ|
sarve vā caitasāḥ kliṣṭāḥ saṃskāraskandhasaṃjñitāḥ||

ye tāvatkhalu kleśā upakleśā api te cittopakleśanāt| iha tu paryavasthānakleśamalasaṃgṛhītāḥ kṣudrakavastukoddiṣṭā veditavyāḥ| ye'pi cānye caitasikāḥ saṃskāraskandhasaṃgṛhītāḥ te'pyupakleśā ityākhyāyante||

ke punaste kleśamalāḥ kāni vā paryavasthānāni ? tatra tāvat-

[372] mūlakleśamalāstvanye ṣaḍupakleśasaṃjñitāḥ||

ta ime ucyante-
śāṭhyopanāhapradāśamāyāmadaviheṭhanāḥ||

tatra cittakauṭilyaṃ śāṭhyaṃ cittasyānṛjutā vakrībhāvaḥ| upanāhaḥ pratighaniṣyando vairānubandhakṛdrandhrāvadhānatā| santoṣyamānasyāpyadharmadṛḍhagrāhitā pradāśaḥ| parābhisandhānāya mithyopadarśanakārī paravañcanāmāyāḥ(yā)| cittasmayo madaḥ| saturūpakulabalabhogayauvanārogyaparijanasaṃpattisaṃrāgajaḥ pramādāspadaṃ vividhendriyavibhramotpādajanakaḥ| sattvavyāpādo vihiṃsā viheṭhanetyarthāntaram| uktāḥ ṣaṭ kleśamalāḥ||

daśa paryavasthānānyucyante|
[373] mrarkṣyerṣyāhryanapatrāpyastyānamiddhoddhavakrudhaḥ|
mātsaryaṃ kukṛtatvaṃ ca daśadhā paryavasthitiḥ||

ete hyanubandhādārḍhyānnānuśayāḥ| na hyeṣāmanubandhadārḍhyamastyanuśayāstu dṛḍhānubandhāḥ| tasmādetāni kālāntaramātraṃ cittaparyavasthāpanāt paryavasthānānītyucyante|

avadyaṃ chādayate(taḥ) cittāpalepo mrakṣaḥ, cittaṃ mrakṣayatīti mrakṣaḥ| parasampattyamarṣaṇamīrṣyā| akāryaṃ kurvataḥ svātmānamavekṣyālajjanā'hrīḥ| paramapekṣyālajjanā'napatrāpyam| kāyākarmaṇyatā styānaṃ tandrīparyāyavacanam| kāyacittākarmanya(ṇya)tā middhaṃ cittābhisaṃkṣepaḥ svapnākhyaḥ, sa tu kliṣṭa eva paryavasthānam| cittāvyupaśāntirauddhatyam| parāpakāranimittodbhavo'parityāgayogeṇa(na) caṇḍībhāvaḥ krodhaḥ| svavastunyāgraho mātsaryam, matto mā saredetaditi niruktiḥ| kukṛtabhāvaḥ kaukṛtyam| ityenāni daśa paryavasthānāni||

athaiṣāmupakleśamalaparyavasthānānāṃ kaḥ kasya rāgādermūlakleśasya niṣyandaḥ ? tadidamārabhyate||

[374] ebhyo'nunayaniṣyandā āhrīkyauddhatatādayaḥ|
ime khalūpakleśāḥ rāgaṇi(ni)ṣyandāḥ| yaduta-ahrīkyauddhatyamadamātsaryakuhanālapanānaimittikatānaiṣpeśikatā lābhena lābhasya niścikīrṣatā pāpecchatā mahecchatecchasvitā kāmajñātijanapadavitarkapāpamitratādayaḥ|

tatrāhrīkyānapatrāpyamadā vyākhyātalakṣaṇāḥ| lābhasatkārayaśolobhādabhūtaguṇadarśanārthamīryāpathavikalpakṛccaittaviśeṣaḥ kuhanā| lābhādyarthameva guṇapṛ(pri)yālapanakṛllapanāḥ(nā)| upakaraṇārthitvanimittadarśanakṛccaittaviśeṣo naimittakatā| paraguṇavaddoṣavacananiṣpeṣaṇakṛdeva caitasiko naiṣpeṣikatā| labdhalābhakhyāpanenānyalābhaniścakīrṣaṇatā [lābhena lābhasya niścikīrṣatā]| parairabhūtaguṇasambhāvanecchā pāpecchatā| lābhasatkāraparivāraprārthanā mahecchatā|

lobhātparairbhūtaguṇasambhāvanecchā icchasvitā| kāmarāgapratisaṃyukto vitarkaḥ kāmavitarkaḥ| jñātisnehaparītasya tadāvāhavivāhakṛṣivaṇigrājasevādīnāṃ gṛhasandhārana(ṇa)mupajīvanopāyānāṃ rājataskarādibhayapraśamanopāyānāṃ ca vitarkāṇāṃ [vitarkaḥ] jñātivitarkaḥ| paryāptajīvitopakaraṇāparituṣṭasya lokaci(mi)tratā, chandarāgāpahṛtacetasasteṣāṃ janapadānāṃ bhūmiramanī(ṇī)yatāsubhikṣakṣematāpracuragorasekṣuvikāragodhūmaśālyādīnāṃ vitarkaṇājjanapadavitarkaḥ śīladṛṣṭyācāravipannānāṃ ratikṛtā saṃsevā pāpamitratā|

mrakṣānapatrapāstyānamiddhādyā mohasaṃbhavāḥ||

tata(tra) ‘mrakṣāṇa(na)patrapāstyānamiddhāḥ’| ‘ādi’grahaṇāllayaḥ, amanasikārā(ro)da(')nādaratā, daurvacasyaṃ tantrī(ndrī) bhaktāsamatetyevamādayaḥ|

tatra layonāma doṣaguṇatyāgārjanaṃ prati ātmaparibhavajaścittasaṃkocaḥ| kuśalāsamanvāhāra audāsīnyayogeṇāmanasikāraḥ| guṇeṣu guṇavatsu cābahumānavṛttiraṇā(nā)daratā| dharmānuśāstṛṣu sāsūyitapratimantrakṛddaurvacasyam| jṛmbhikodgama(mā)dakṣivartmastambhanidrāspadaḥ caittaviśeṣaḥ styānākhyā tandrī| kuśalapakṣānukūlabhojanasamatāprativedhaścetaso bhaktāsamatā||

[375] kaukṛtyaṃ vicikitsotthaṃ krodhādyā dveṣasambhavāḥ|

kaukṛtyaṃ khalu yathoktalakṣaṇaṃ vicikitsāsamutthitam| krodhādyā dveṣaniṣyandāḥ| ‘ādi’śabdādīrṣyā[']kṣāntyupanāhapradāśasaṃrambhādayaḥ|

tatrerṣyā pūrvoktalakṣaṇā| sahyāsahiṣṇutā'kṣāntiḥ| randhrāvadhānānivṛttirupanāhaḥ| saṃtoṣamānasyāpyadṛḍhagrāhitā pradāśaḥ| parānvimardiṣataḥ pāṇipādauṣṭhakapolaśarīrakampayonirbhrāntamanasaḥ kṣobhaḥ saṃrambhaḥ| nimittamātreṇa sātatyaviheṭhanakṛcchṛṅgī| nistanato'bhīkṣṇavivāca(da)kṛttaṃstatta(kṛtyaṃ sta)mbhanatā| kāmyānviṣayānanusmarato rativiparītamanasaḥ pravṛttiraratiḥ| cittāpaiśalyamanārjavatā| vyāpādārtha prayukto vitarko vyāpādavitarkaḥ| vihiṃsāsaṃprayukto vitarkaḥ [vihiṃsāvitarkaḥ]|

atha kaḥ kleśaḥ kayā vedanayā saṃprayujyate ? tadidamārabhyate-

[377] saumanasyena rāgasya saṃprayogaḥ sukhena ca|

rāgaḥ khalu sukhasaumanasyābhyāṃ saṃprayuktaḥ|

dveṣasya daurmaṇa(na)syena duḥkhena ca nigadyate||

saṃyoga iti vartate| pratighaḥ khalu duḥkhadaurmaṇa(na)syābhyāṃ saṃprayuktaḥ||

[378] sarvairmohasya

mohasya tu pañcabhirapīndriyaiḥ saṃprayogaḥ|

vittibhyāṃ caitasībhyāmasaddṛśaḥ|

mithyādṛṣṭirhi daurmaṇa(na)syasaumanasyābhyāṃ saṃprayujyate, pāpakarmaṇāṃ puṇyakarmaṇāṃ ca yathākramam|

kāṅkṣā ca daurmaṇa(na)syena

sāṃśayito hi niści(śca)yākāṃkṣī (kāṅkṣī) daurmaṇa(na)syena saṃbadhyate|

śeṣāṇāṃ sumanastayā|

śeṣāstvanuśayāḥ-catasro dṛṣṭayaḥ, mānaśca| pārṣāka(harṣākā)ravṛttitvātsaumanasyena saṃprayuktāḥ||

[379] upekṣayā tu sarveṣām

sarve'pyaviśeṣeṇānuśayā upekṣayā saṃprayujyante| pravāhacchedakāle khalu kleśānāmavaśyamupekṣā saṃmukhībhavati|

kāmāptānāmayaṃ vidhiḥ|

kāmāvacarāṇāṃ khalvanuśayānāmeṣa vidhiḥ draṣṭavyaḥ|

ito'nyadhātujānāṃ tu pratibhūmyantaraṃ svakaiḥ||

yasyāṃ yasyāṃ bhūmau yāvadi(ntī)ndriyāṇi santi tatrāpi cāturvijñānakāyikāścāturvijñānakāyikairmanobhūmikā manobhūmikaireva yathāsaṃbhavam||

uktāḥ kleśānāmindriyasaṃprayogaḥ| upakleśānāmucyate-

[380] īrṣyayā daurmaṇa(na)syeṇa(na) kaukṛtyasya tathā krudhaḥ|
pradaṣṭeścopanaddheśca vihiṃsāyāstathaiva ca||

daurmaṇa(na)syena khalvīrṣyākaukṛtyakrodhapradāśopanāhavihiṃsāḥ saṃprayujyante||

[381] mātsaryaṃ daurmaṇa(na)syena saumanasyena kasyacit|

prārthyamāno hyaprayacchan parasya jahrīyamāno durmaṇā(nā)yate| kecitpunaḥ vyācakṣate-saumanasyena saṃprayujyate lobhānvayatvena harṣākāravartitvāt|

dvābhyāṃ māyā tathā śāṭhyaṃ mrakṣo middhaṃ tathaiva ca||

daurmaṇa(na)syasaumanasyābhyāṃ māyāśāṭhyamiddhāni saṃprayujyante| kadāciddhi sumanāḥ paraṃ vañcayate| kadāciddurmanāḥ| evaṃ yāvatsvapi(pī)ti||

[382] madastu sumana[:]skandhasukhābhyāṃ saṃprayujyate|

tṛtīye dhyāne sukhenādhastātsaumanasyenordhvaṃ copekṣayā| ‘tu’śabdasya viśeṣaṇatvādayaṃ viśeṣo labhyate|

āhrīkyamanapatrāpya(pyaṃ) styānauddhatye ca pañcabhiḥ||

pañcabhirapīndriyaiḥ āhrīkyānapatrāpyastyānauddhatyāni saṃprayujyante| eṣāṃ caturṇāṃ paryavasthānānāmakuśalamahābhūmikatvāt kleśamahābhaumikatvācca||

idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| ka eṣāṃ kiṃ prahātavyaḥ ? yāni tāvaddaśa paryavasthānāni tebhyaḥ-

[383] āhrīkyamanapatrāpyaṃ styānamiddhaṃ tathoddhavaḥ||
