om svasti| namaḥ sarvajñāya|
[1] yo duḥkhahetuvyupaśāntimārgaṃ pradarśayāmāsa narāmarebhyaḥ|
atra ṣaṣṭhīsamāsaparigrahe sati mārgasatyaṃ pradhānam| tathā coktam-“mārgavido(da)haṃ mārgasya...........” [iti] vistaraḥ| taduktaṃ bhavati-yo devamanuṣyebhyo mārgaṃ pradarśitavāniti|
samāhāralakṣaṇadvandvaparikalpe [tu catu]rṇāmapyāryasatyānāṃ prādhānyam| tathā coktam-“idaṃ duḥkhasatyamiti bhikṣavaḥ pūrvamananuśruteṣu dharmeṣu dharmacakṣurudapādi” iti vistaraḥ| taduktaṃ bhavati-yo devamanuṣyebhyaścatvāryāryasatyāni pradarśitavāniti|
tatra duḥkhasatyamekavidhamabhinirvṛttisvābhāvyāt| tathā coktam-“duḥkhā hi bhikṣavo bhavābhinirvṛttiḥ” iti| jātyādyaṣṭaprakāraṃ vā phalabhūtā vā pañcopādānaskandhāḥ| athavā paurvāntikaṃ pañcāṅgamaparāntikaṃ [dvyaṅgaṃ] tadubhayamabhisamasya saptāṅgam|
samudayasatyamekavidhaṃ tṛṣṇānirdeśāt| dvividhaṃ karmakleśātmakatvāt| pañcāṅgāni vā paurvāntikāparāntikāṅgasaṃgrahāt, hetubhūtā vā pañcopādānaskandhāḥ|
nirodhasatyamekaprakāramapratisandhijanmanirodhāt| satyadvayaprahāna(ṇa) bhedād dvividham, sopadhinirupadhiśeṣadhātubhedādvā| tṛ(tri)prakāraṃ vā prahāna(ṇa) virāganirodhadhātubhedāt| catuṣprakāraṃ vā catuṣphalabhedāt|
mārgasatyamekaprakāraṃ samyagdṛṣṭinirdeśāt| dviprakāraṃ vā sāsravānāsrabhedāt, darśaṇa(na) bhāvanābhedādvā| triprakāraṃ śīlasamādhiprajñāskandhabhedāt catuṣprakāraṃ vā prayogāmārgādibhedāt| pratipadbhedādvā| aṣṭaprakāraṃ samyagdṛṣṭyādyaṅgabhāvāt|
ityetāni catvāryāryasatyāni parijñeyaprahātavyasākṣātkartavyabhāvayitavyānīti bhagavān pradarśayāmāsa narāmarebhyasteṣāṃ satyadarśaṇa (na) bhavyatvāttadarthamudbhūtatvā[t]| atastāneva mārgapradarśaṇa (na)karmaṇābhipretā [n]| atasteṣu saṃpraghā(dā)nābhidhāyinī caturthī|
taṃ satpathajñaṃ praṇipatya buddhaṃ śāstraṃ kariṣyāmyabhidharmadīpam||
‘tam’ iti yaḥ prativiśiṣṭaviśeṣaṇaparichinnayacchabdacodanayo (yā) parigṛhītaḥ sa tacchabdena pūrvaprakṛtāpekṣopajanitayacchabdasaṃbandhena saṃspṛśyate| saṃścāsau panthāśca satpathaḥ| athavā satāṃ panthāḥ satpathaḥ| taṃ satpathaṃ jānīta iti satpathajñaḥ| ‘taṃ satpathajñaṃ prati(ṇi)patya’ iti kāyavāṅmanaskarmabhirabhyarthyetyarthaḥ|
‘buddham’ iti viśiṣṭaviśeṣaṇaparicchinno'pi buddhānusāripudgalapratipattyarthaṃ sākṣātpratītapadārthakena nāmnāpadiśyate buddha iti| atra buddhaśabdasya prasiddhiḥ budherakarmakatvavivakṣāyāṃ karttari kto bhavati| sarve vā jñānārthā gatyarthā iti karmakarttari ktavidhānam| abhidhānalakṣaṇatvācca kṛttaddhitasamāsānāmacodyam| dṛṣṭaṃ cedaṃ buddha ityabhidhānaṃ karttari loke prayujyamānam| tadyathā nidrāvigame padārthānubodhe'vidyānirāse ca vibuddhaḥ prabuddho devadatta iti| evaṃ bhagavānapyavidyānidrāvigamāt, sarvārthāvabodhācca buddho vibuddhaḥ prabuddha ityucyate| yathā vā paripākaviśeṣāt svayameva buddhaṃ padmamevaṃ bhagavānapi prajñādiguṇaprakarṣaparipākād buddho vibuddhaḥ prabuddha iti| sarvaśiṣṭaprayogācca| dṛṣṭo hyatra śiṣṭaprayogaḥ| yathoktaṃ vyāsena|
“etadbuddhā (ddhvā) bhā (bha)ved buddhaḥ kimanyad buddhalakṣaṇam” iti|
tasmādaśiṣṭacodyeṣvanādaraḥ|
atra puṇaḥ (naḥ) ślokasya pūrvārdhe parārthasaṃpādakaṃ vaiśāradyadvayaṃ pradarśitam| tṛtīye pāde svārthasampa[d]dyotakaṃ vaiśāradyadvayamāviṣkṛtam| na hyakṣīṇāsravaḥ śakto mārgamākhyātumiti| na cāsamyaksaṃbuddhaḥ sarvadharmānabhisaṃboddhumalamiti|
kathaṃ puṇa (na) reta
digātmāno vaiśeṣikaparikalpitā asattvādeva naiva nityāḥ nānityāḥ| asattvaṃ pūrvamā [vi] ṣkṛtam|
sāṃkhyīyamapi pradhānaṃ na nityam| kutaḥ ? traiguṇyasya
[2] sattvādyananyathābhāve vyaktābhāvaḥ prasajyate|
tadvikārādvikāritvaṃ prakṛtestadabhedataḥ||
yadi sattvādayo [guṇāḥ] nānyathā bhavanti hrāsavṛddhibhāvena, na tarhi kiñcittebhyo vyaktamutpadyate| athānyathā bhavanti, anityāstarhi prāpnuvanti| karmavaśādadoṣa iti cet, atra brūmaḥ|
[3] na karma svakatotsargāt
yadi pratipuruṣaṃ karmāṇi buddhipūrvāṇyabuddhikṛtāni vā pradhāne vidyante sādhāraṇapradhānakalpanāvaiyarthyaṃ tarhi prāptamiti| kiñca,
jñavyaktātmakatā malāḥ|
prākpakṣe muktyabhāvaśca dvitīye'nye'pyupaplavāḥ||
yadi tāni karmāṇi puruṣātmakāni natve(nve)vaṃ sati mokṣābhāvaḥ prāpnoti| puruṣanityatve karmaṇi(ni)tya[tva]prasaṅgāt| ‘ca’śabdāt puruṣakartṛtvādidoṣa(ṣā)śca| ‘dvitīye'nye'pyupaplavāḥ|’ prādhānātmakapakṣa ete ca doṣāḥ prasajantyanye'pi copaplavāḥ sādhāraṇatvādakṛtābhyāgamānirmokṣaprasaṅgāt| tasmāt trīṇyeva ca sarvajñābhihitānyasaṃskṛtāni nityānīti siddham|
vyākhyātāḥ aṣṭau padārthāḥ- saṃskṛtāḥ pañca, trayaścāsaṃskṛtāḥ| etāvaccaitatsarvaṃ yaduta saṃskṛtaṃ cāsaṃskṛtaṃ ceti|
taccaitadāyatanadhātuvyavasthānena vyavasthāpyate|
dvādaśa khalvāyatanāni| cakṣu dīni dharmāyatanāntāni|
aṣṭādaśa dhātavaḥ| cakṣurdhātū rūpadhātuścakṣurvijñānadhāturyāvanmanodhāturdharmadhāturmanovijñānadhāturiti|
tatra tāvat
[4] rūpaskandho hi netrādyā daśāyatanadhātavaḥ|
dharmasaṃjñe trayaskandhāḥ sā'vijñaptirdhruvatrayāḥ||
[5] manaḥsaṃjñakamanyo'pi saptavijñānadhātavaḥ|
iti|
kaḥ punarāyatanadhātvarthaḥ ? taducyate|
āyadvāraṃ hyāyatanaṃ dhāturgotraṃ nirucyate||
taduktaṃ bhavati-cittacaitasikākhyamāyametāni tanvantītyāyatanāni| yasmātsapta cittadhātavaścatvāraścārūpiṇaḥ skandhā ebhyaścatuṣpratyayātmakebhyaḥ pratāyante tadutpattiṃ vā pratyāyante tasmādāyatanāni|
dhātvarthastu gotrārthaḥ| taduktaṃ bhavati-ekasmiṃñccharīraparvate'ṣṭādaśa dharmagotrāni (ṇi)-iti | dhruvaṃ(va)dvayasyāpyatra pratinidhisthānīyāḥ prāptayo gotrabhūtā vidyante| ākāśaṃ ca sarvabhūtabhaumikarūpādhāramiti tadapyatrāstīti| svalakṣaṇadhāraṇādvā taddhātutvam|
atha kasmāddvādaśāyatanānyaṣṭādaśa ca dhātavaḥ pṛthaṅnirucyante ? natva(nva)nyataraṇi (ni) rdeśādgatārthametaditi| atrocyate|
[6] yogarūpyānukūlyāderdvādaśāyatanīṃ muniḥ|
buddhyādyekatvadhīhānyai dhātūṃścāṣṭādaśoktavān||
skandheṣu hi dṛśyamāneṣu yoginorasarvajñeyapratibimbakānyupatiṣṭhanti| dhātuṣvapi saptacittadhātupratibimbakāni sādṛśyād duravadhārāṇi bhavanti| dhātuskandhavyavasthā cāyataneṣūkteṣvabhihitakāraṇā bhavanti sulakṣā ceti dhātudeśanā| tadūrdhvaṃ skandhaprajñaptiḥ| yathoktam-“cakṣuḥ pratītya rūpaṃ cotpadyate cakṣurvijñānam| trayāṇāṃ sannipātāt sparśaḥ| sahajā vedanā ceti(ta)nā” iti| tasmādāyatanāni dhātūnāṃ yoniḥ, dhātavaḥ skandhānāmiti|
‘buddhyāde(dye)katvadhīhānyai dhātūṃścāṣṭādaśoktavān|’ sapta vijñānadhātavo hi deśyamānā buddhyaikatvagrāhaṃ nivartayanti| piṇḍaikātmagrāhaṃ ca nivartayanti|
vaibhāṣāḥ punarāhuḥ-“rūpasaṃmūḍhānāmāyatanadeśanā| cittace(cai)ttasaṃmūḍhānāṃ skandhadeśanā| rūpacittasaṃmūḍhānāṃ dhātudeśanā| tīkṣṇendriyānāṃ (ṇāṃ) vā skandhadeśanā| madhyendriyānā (ṇā) māyatanadeśanā| mṛdvindriyānāṃ (ṇāṃ) dhātudeśanā| evaṃ saṃkṣiṃptamapyavistararucīnām|”
athavā ‘buddhyaikatvādidhīhānyai dhātūṃścāṣṭādaśoktavān|’ ye khalu buddhyaikatvamadhyavasitā manasaścetanāyāṃ vā rūpacittaikatvaṃ vā teṣā(ṣāṃ)mamad(tva) buddhinirāsārthamaṣṭādaśadhātūnuktavāniti|
kaḥ punarayaṃ ṣaḍbhyo vijñānakāyebhyo'nyo manodhātuḥ ? na khalu kaścidanyaḥ| kiṃ tarhi ?
[7] ṣaṇṇāmanyo nyatantratvātkāraṇaṃ yaddhi tanmanaḥ|
svaviṣayālambanakriyāpekṣayā vijñānāntarotpādanādiśaktyapekṣayā caikasya vijñānasya tridhā nirdeśaḥ kriyate-‘manaścittaṃ vijñānaṃ ca’ ityanāgatasyātītasyāpi bhūtabhāvinyā saṃjñayā vyapadeśaḥ| evaṃ sati “aṣṭādaśadhātavastraiyadhvikāḥ” ityabhidharmagrantho'pyanulomito bhavati| sūtre'pi coktam-“yatpunastadbhavati cittamiti vā mana iti vā” iti vistaraḥ| tadevaṃ vyācakṣāṇena bhavatā nityaṃ karaṇaṃ mano ‘nityaścātmā kartā’ iti pratiṣiddhaṃ bhavati|
atha kasmāttadeva cakṣurvijñānādīnāṃ pañcānāmapyāśrayatvena noktamiti ?
atra brūmaḥ-
rūpyarūpāśrayāstitvātpañcānāṃ rūpyudāhṛtaḥ||
cakṣurādīnāmasādhāraṇatvāditi|
atha yaduktam-‘sasaṃprayogā sahasaṃgrahena (ṇa) iti| kau puṇa (na) rimau saṃgrahasaṃprayogāvityetadapadiśyate|
[8] skandhāyatanadhātūnāṃ svātmanā saṃgrahaḥ smṛtaḥ|
kṣaṇaparamānu(ṇu)jātisaṃkhyānāṃ pratyekaṃ yathāyogaṃ saṃgraho veditavyaḥ| kasmāt ?
svātmanā nityamaviyogāt
tasmād dravyātmasaṃgrahaḥ| sacchabdanimittaṃ hi sato bhāvaḥ sattā dravyaṃ prakṛtyarthaḥ| dravyātmasaṃgrahaḥ pratyayārtha[:], satkṛ(tkri) yā vopacārasattārūpā| vaiśi(śeṣi)kasattā tu nobhayamarthāntaratvāt| na hyarthāntaraṃ svātmopapadyate| kiñca, svātantryāt| niruktyapabhraṃśācca| nahi ghaṭena sattotpādyate| āvaraṇābhāvāttani(nna)tyatvābhyu pagamācca| niruktyapi bhraśyate-sattāyogātsantī [ti]| syānmālyādivatsattāvānvā kriyāvaditi| yastvayaṃ saṃgravastvādiṣu saṃgrahaḥ proktaḥ sa kādācitkatvād gauṇo mantavyo na mukhyaḥ|
saṃprayogastu
samatvaṃ cittacaitasām||
pañcabhiḥ samālambane prayujyanta iti| samprayuktāścittacaitasā eva dharmā nānya iti||
atha ya ete sūtrāntareṣu skandhāyatanadhātusaṃśabditā dharmāḥ śrūyante te kimeṣveva saṃgrahaṃ gacchanti, āhosvinneti ? atrocyate|
[9] tadākhyā ye'nyasūtroktāsteṣāmeṣveva saṃgraham|
brūyācchāstranayābhijño buddhyāpekṣya svalakṣa[ṇam]||
tatra tāvacchīlaskandhādīnāṃ pañcānāṃ skandhānāṃ śīlaskandho rūpaskandhena saṃgṛhītaḥ| śeṣāḥ saṃskāraskanghena| daśa kṛtsnāyatanānyapyalobhasvābhāvyādaṣṭānāṃ dharmāyatanena| saparivāṇāṇi tu manodharmāyatanābhyāṃ pañcaskandhasvabhāvatvāt| antye dve kṛtsnāyatane catuḥskandhasvabhāvatvāt, manodharmāyatanābhyām|
dhātūnāmapi ṣaḍ dhātavaḥ| tebhyaścatvāraḥ spraṣṭavyadhātūnām, pañcamo rūpadhātūnāṃ, ṣaṣṭhaḥ saptabhi [ścitta]dhātubhiḥ||
[10] anyonyasaṃgraho jñeyaḥ skandhādīnāṃ yathāyatham|
rūpaskandhasya daśasvāyatanadhātuṣu rūpiṣu saṃgraho veditavyaḥ| dharmāyatanadhātupradeśena [tra]yānā(ṇā)mapi skandhānāṃ yathāyogadharmāyatanadhātubhyām| antyasya tu manaāyatanasya saptabhiścittadhātubhiriti||
atha kasmādasaṃskṛtaṃ skandhairasaṃgṛhītam ? brūmaḥ|
nādhvasvapatanādibhyo nityānāṃ skandhasaṃgrahaḥ||
ādiśabdānniṣkriyatvaskandhalakṣaṇaviyuktatvācceti||
[11] dharmaskandhasahastrāṇāmaśīterapi saṃgrahaḥ|
jñeyo'vataraṇeṣveva taiḥ sanmārgāvatāraṇāt||
aśītiḥ khalvavataraṇasahasrāṇi yairviṇe(ne)yāḥ sanmārgamavatāryante||
kiṃ punasteṣāmekaikasya pramāna(ṇa)m ? brūmaḥ| atrācāryāṇāṃ bhedaṃgatā buddhayaḥ| kecidāhuḥ
[12] dharmaskandhapramānaṃ (ṇaṃ) tu satyāderekaśaḥ kathā|
satyadhyānasamādhisamāpattivimokṣapratītyasamutpādaskandhādīnāmekaśaḥ kathā dharmaskandhaḥ| rāgādicaritapratipakṣo dharmaskandha ityācāryakam|
tatsatattvaṃ tu keṣāñcidvāṅnāmāpīṣyate paraiḥ||
yeṣāṃ tāvadvāksvabhāvaṃ buddhavacanaṃ teṣāmaśītidharmaskandhasahastrāṇi rūpaskanghaikadeśena saṃgṛhītāni| yeṣāṃ punarṇā (rnā) masvabhāvaṃ teṣāṃ saṃskāraskandhasaṃgṛhītāni| ayaṃ tvāgamaḥ-“jīvato bhagavato vāṅnāma svabhāvaṃ buddhavacanaṃ gauṇamukhyanyāyena| pariṇi(ni)rvṛtasya tu nāmasvabhāvameva, na vāksvabhāvam, brahmasvaratvānmunīndrasya, lokavācāṃ tatsādṛśyānupapatteḥ||”
kasmātpunarete ṣaḍ dhātavaḥ pṛthagucyante ? yasmādete
[13] sattvaprajñaptyupādānaṃ maulaṃ ṣaḍdhātavo matāḥ|
proktāstadbhedato yasmādasminmāro(smimāno) nivartate||
ete hi ṣaḍdhātavo garbhāvakrāntikāle maulaṃ sattvadravyaprajñaptyupādānam| katham ? yasmādayaṃ kāyākhyaḥ samucchrāyaḥ pṛthivīdhātunā khakkhaṭalakṣaṇena sandhārito bhūtāntaravṛttyudreko'sthisnāyunakhadantaromādisaṃcayaḥ| abdhātunā dravasnehalakṣaṇena śleṣmarudhirādimayenābhiṣyanditasaṃśleṣita bhūtāntaraḥ| tejodhātunoṣṇasvabhāvena paripācitakledadaurgandhaḥ| vāyunā ca preraṇātmakena saṃcāritabhojanarasadhātuviṇmūtraśleṣmapittasaṃcayaḥ| nabhodhātunā ca mukhanāsikākarṇādicchidrajanitabhojanapāṇā(nā)dipraveśaniṣkramaṇakriyaḥ| vijñānadhātunā vastūpalabdhilakṣaṇena vāyudhātukriyādhyāsinotpāditasaṃjanitāṅgapratyaṅgaceṣṭo maulaṃ sattvadravyamityupacaryate| indriyāni (ṇi) cakṣurādīni khalvatra bhūtagrahaṇena gṛhyante, caitasikā vijñānagrahaṇeneti prādhānyād bhūtacittagrahaṇam|
kimarthaṃ puṇa (na) reta eva dhātuṣaṭkamupadiṣṭam ? yasmādasya bhedāt ‘asmimāno nivartate’| katham ? ṣaḍdhātuprabhedādātmadṛṣṭinirāsaḥ| tannirāsādasmimānasamuddhātaḥ||
‘satkāyadṛṣṭipuṣṭatvāt’
ityatra puṇaḥ (naḥ)
[14] kliṣṭameva hi vijñānaṃ
vijñānadhāturabhipretam| kasmāt ?
[draṣṭavyaṃ] janmaṇi (ni) śrayāt|
yasmādete ṣaḍdhātavo janmano niśrayabhūtāstasmāt| ‘kliṣṭameva vijñānaṃ’ atra draṣṭavyam|
kaḥ puṇa(na)rayamākāśadhāturanyaḥ puṇaḥ (naḥ) pṛthagākāśāt ? taducyate|
khadhātuḥ pṛthagākāśādrūpāyatanasaṃgrahāt|
ākāśaṃ hi dharmāyatanasaṃgṛhītaṃ nityaṃ ca| ākāśadhātustu cākṣuṣo rūpāyatanasaṃgṛhītaḥ, ālokatamaḥsvabhāvo varṇaviśeṣo vātāyanacchidrādyabhivyaktarūpaḥ| tatpunaḥ
[15] nabhaḥ khalu nabho dhātorāsanno hetureṣa tu|
bhūtānāṃ tāni tajjasya rūpasyaitattu cetasaḥ||
uktaṃ hi bhagavatā-“pṛthivyapsu niśritā| āpo vāyau| vāyurākāśe| ākāśaṃ tu nityatvātsvapratiṣṭhitam” iti|
yadi khalu svapratiṣṭhā(ṣṭha)mākāśaṃ kasmāttarhyuṃktam-ākāśamāloke sati prajñāyate|” brūmaḥ| naiṣa doṣaḥ| ādheyenādhāraprajñāpanāt| sarvasya khalu saṃskṛtasya mūrtikriyāpratilambhe gagaṇa(na)mādhāraḥ| athavā''kāśadhāturatrākāśaśabdenoktaḥ| sa hi brāhmaṇaḥ praṣṭā tasminnākāśadhātāvākāśasaṃjñītyata evoktamāloke sati prajñāyate| na cākāśamāloke sati prajñāyate, anidarśaṇa(na)tvāt| eṣa akāśadhāturbhūtānāmāsanno niśrayaḥ| tāni tu tajjasyopādāyarūpasya| tadapi vijñānasya| vijñānamadhicaitasikānāṃ viprayuktānāṃ ca dharmāṇām| ata ākāśaṃ trailokyapratiṣṭhā| tadabhāve trailokyamapratiṣṭhitamanādhāraṃ, ṇa(na) prajñāyeta| tasmādākāśaṃ jagadutpattipralayanimittaṃ nā(na) nārāyana(ṇa) iti siddham| gatametat||
idānīṃ vaktavyam| ṣaṇṇāmadhyātmikānāṃ dhātūnāṃ ko'nukramaḥ ? brūmaḥ|
[16] pratyakṣavṛttiryattatprāgaprāptagrāhyato'pi yat|
tato'pi yaddavīyo'rthaṃ paṭiṣṭhamitarādapi||
pratyakṣavṛttīni khalu cakṣurādīni pañca prāguktāni| tebhyo'pyaprāptagrāhiṇī dve prāgukte| tayorapi yadya (dda)vīyo'rthaṃ tatprāguktam| prāptagrāhināṃ(ṇāṃ) tu ‘paṭiṣṭhamitarādapi’ yatpaṭutaraṃ tatprāguktamiti||
abhidharmadīpe vimāṣāprabhāyāṃ vṛttau prathamā(mā) dhyāsya dvitīyaḥ pādaḥ||
prathamādhyāye
tṛtīyapādaḥ|
idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| ya ete'ṣṭādaśadhātavaḥ, eṣāṃ kati sanidarśaṇāḥ (nāḥ) katyanidarśaṇāḥ (nāḥ) ? kati sapratighāḥ katya pratidhāḥ ? kati vyākṛtāḥ katyavyākṛtā iti ? ata idaṃ pratāyate||
[17] sanidarśaṇa (na) ādyārthaḥ
ādyasya cakṣurdhātoryortho rūpadhātvākhyaḥ sa sanidarśaṇaḥ (naḥ)| saha nidarśaṇe(ne) na nirdiṣṭa iti kṛtvā| nidarśanaṃ vāsya saṃbandhi vidyata iti sanidarśaṇaḥ (naḥ)||
mūrttāḥ sapratighā daśa|
saptacittadhātūndharmadhātuṃ ca hitvā daśānye mūrttā dhātavaḥ ‘sapratighā daśa’|
pratigho nāma pratighātaḥ| sa ca trividhaḥ| āvaraṇaviṣayālambanapratighātaḥ| tatrāvaraṇapratighātaḥ svedeśe parasyotpattipratibandhaḥ| sa tu mūrttāṇā(nā)meva saṃsthānavatāṃ paramāṇūnāṃ digdeśanirdeśyānāṃ dharmāṇām| yathā hastohastena pratihanyate upalo vopale [na]| viṣayapratighātaścakṣurādīnāṃ viṣayiṇāṃ rūpādiṣu sveṣu viṣayeṣu pratighātaḥ| yasya yasmin vṛttiḥ sannipātalakṣaṇā kāritrākhyā ca sa tasmin pratihanyate tato'nyatrāvṛtteḥ| ālambanapratighātaścittacaittānāṃ sveṣvālambaneṣu pratighātaḥ||
kaḥ punarviṣayālambanayorviśeṣaḥ ? yasminyasya kāritraṃ sa tasya viṣayaḥ| yaccittacaittairgṛhyate tadālambanam| tadihāvaraṇapratighātena daśānāṃ sapratighatvamanyonyāvaraṇāt|
‘ye dharmā viṣayapratighātena sapratighā āvaraṇapratighātenāpi te’ iti ? catuṣkoṭikaḥ | prathamā koṭiḥ-saptacittadhātavodharmadhātupradeśaśca yaḥ saṃprayuktaḥ| dvitīyā-pañca viṣayāḥ| tṛtīyā-pañcendriyāṇi| caturthī-dharmadhātupradeśaḥ saṃprayuktakavarjaḥ|
‘ye viṣayapratighātena sapratighā ālambanapratighātenāpi te’ iti paścātpādakaḥ-ye tāvadālambanapratighātena viṣayapratighātenāpi te syuḥ| viṣayaprati ghātena, nālambanapratighātena pañcendriyāṇi|
“yatrotpitsormanasaḥ pratighātaḥ śakyate paraiḥ karttum|
tatsapratighaṃ jñeyaṃ viparyayādapratighamiṣṭam||”

saptacittadhātavo hi triprakārāḥ| dharmadhātuśca| saṃprayuktastriprakāraḥ, viprayukto'saṃskṛtaśca| yathāśāstraṃ kaścit triprakāraḥ kaścidekaprakāraḥ saṃbhavato draṣṭavyaḥ|
kaḥ punaḥ kuśalārthaḥ ? śikṣitārthaḥ kuśalārthaḥ pravīṇavat| vipākahetāvaupamiko draṣṭavyaḥ| evamakuśalo'pi avyākṛtastūbhayapakṣāvyākaraṇādavyākṛta ityabhiprāyaḥ||
kati kāmadhātupratisaṃyuktāḥ kati yāvadapratisaṃyuktā iti| tadidamārabhyate|
iha sarve'pi
kāmadhātau sarve'pyaṣṭādaśa vidyante|
rūpadhātau caturdaśa|
rasagandhau savijñānau dhātū hitvā
gandharasadhātū tadvijñānadhātū ca hitvā| ārūpye

pañcadaśadhātavaḥ sāsravāḥ, āsravasaṃyogitvavyavakīrṇatvāṅgabhāvebhyaḥ|
kośakārastvāha-“anuśayānuśayanātsāsravāḥ|” tadetadabrahmam (hma)| na| niruktānuśayārthāparijñānāt| niruktāparijñānaṃ tāvat| anuśayānuśayanāt sānuśayāḥ|
na sāsravā na yāvadoghāḥ| āsravā hi ābhavāgrādyāvadavīcimupādāya cittasantatiṃ strāvayanti svayaṃ ca sravantītyāsravāḥ| anuśayāstvanuśerate| kleśāḥ kliśnanti| granthā grathnanti| saṃyojanāni saṃyojayanti| oghāḥ apaharanti| iti svakriyādvāreṇaiteṣu vargeṣvetā nairuktyasaṃjñā niviśanta ityeṣā vyākhyānītirjyāyasī|
anuśayārtho'pi yadi puṣṭyarthastena mārgaṇi (ni)rvāṇālambaneṣu mithyādṛṣṭyādiṣu poṣotkarṣadarśaṇā(nā)t, nirvāṇamārgayorapi rūpādivat sāsravatvaprasaṅga iti| gatametat||

sālambaprathamāḥ pañca sopacārāstrayastridhā||
sālambanānāṃ dhātūnāṃ ye prathamāḥ pañca te savitarkāḥ savicārāḥ| ‘trayastridhā’| ye tvantyāstrayaste tredhā| savitarkāḥ savicārāḥ| vicāramātrāścāvitarkāḥ| avicārāśca| kāmadhātau prathame ca dhyāne vitarko ṇai(nai)ṣu triṣu prakāreṣu praviśati| sa khalvavitarko vicāramātraśca||
atrāha-yadi pañcavijñānakāyāḥ savitarkāḥ savicārāḥ kathaṃ tarhi [a]vikalpā ityucyante ? brūmaḥ
[20] nirvikalpaguṇasvārthāḥ
guṇaḥ svārtho yeṣāṃ te bhavanti ‘guṇasvārthāḥ’| ete hi
asmārādanirūpaṇāt|
avikalpā ityucyante| etau hi pradhānau vikalpau traiyadhvikadharmaviṣayau| yogiṇāṃ(nāṃ) kṛtākṛtakarmāntapratyavekṣaṇā cittarakṣaṇe smṛtiḥ pradhānī bhavati| dharmasvasāmānyalakṣaṇahetuphalasaṃbandhādiṣu pravicayākhyaḥ prajñāsvabhāvaḥ prādhānyamanubhavati| atra tu
manobhaumī smṛtiḥ pūrvo dvitīyo dhīrṇi(rni)rūpikā|
‘manobhaumī’ti vartate| pañcānāṃ vijñānakāyānāṃ jātibadhirapuruṣarūpadarśanavadvṛttiḥ| tatrāpi ca smṛtiḥ samāhitā cāsamāhitā ca anusmṛtivikalpaḥ, ālambanābhilapaṇa(na)tulyatvāt| prajñā tvasamāhitaivā'bhinirūpaṇā vikalpaḥ, samāhitāyāḥ prakāraviśeṣaṇi(ni)rūpaṇābhāvāt, pūrvanirūpitopalakṣaṇamātravṛttitvācca||
athaiṣāṃ ṣaṇṇāṃ vijñānakāyānāṃ kataradvijñānaṃ kiyadbhiḥ savikalpakam ? tadidamāviṣkriyate|
[21] vijñānapañcakaṃ kāmeṣvekena savikalpakam|
svabhāvavikalpena|
tasmādanyat tribhiḥ
manovijñānaṃ kāmeṣu tribhiḥ savikalpakam|
dhyāne prathame cāsamāhitam||
prathame hi dhyāne yadasamāhitaṃ manovijñānaṃ tat tribhireva|
[22] dvābhyāmavyagraṃ
yatpunaḥ samāhitaṃ[ta]ddvābhyāmevābhinirūpaṇavikalpamapāsya|
ekena cakṣuḥśrotratvagāśraya[m]|
yatpunaścakṣuḥśrotratvagāśrayaṃ vijñānaṃ prathame dhyāne tadekenaiva|
dvābhyāṃ taduparivyagraṃ
dvitīyādiṣu dhyāneṣu dvābhyāṃ vyagramiti vartate|
ekenaiva samāhitam||
anusmṛtivikalpenaiva| evaṃ yāvadbhavāgram||
idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| kutra kasya ṣaṭprakāraṃ vijñānaṃ kuśalādivikalpakaṃ bhavati ? tadidamabhidharmagahvaraṃ prastūyate|
[23] ucchinnaśubhabījasya darśaṇaṃ(naṃ) savikalpakam|
kuśalaṃ nāsti vijñānamanyatra pratisandhitaḥ||
iha tāvaducchinnakuśalamūlasya pañca rūpondriyāśrayabalotpannaṃ darśakaṃ vijñānaṃ kuśalaṃ na vidyate, anyatra kuśalamūlapratisandhānāt|
[24] kāmebhyo vītarāgasya bālasyāhānidharmiṇaḥ|
dvidhāpyakuśalaṃ nāsti
darśakaṃ ca manovijñānaṃ ca yadyaparihāna(ṇa)dharmā bhavati|
kliṣṭaṃ cāryasya nottamam||
na cāryasyordhvabhūmyālambanaṃ kliṣṭaṃ vijñānaṃ vikalpakamasti||
kiñca,
[25] nākliṣṭāvyākṛtaṃ kiñcidūrdhvabhūmivikalpakam|
na cānivṛtāvyākṛtaṃ kiñcidūrdhvabhūmivikalpakamasti|
kliṣṭaṃ vikalpakaṃ cāpi nāstyadhobhūmigocaram||
na ca kliṣṭaṃ vijñānamadharabhūmyālambanaṃ vikalpakamasti|
[26] tridheha dvayamāryasya
iha kuśalākuśalāvyākṛtaṃ darśakaṃ ca manovijñānaṃ ca vikalpakamasti|
rāgiṇaḥ saśubhasya ca|
avītarāgasyāpyanucchinnakuśalamūlasya pṛthagjanasya trividhaṃ dvayamasti|
na śubhaṃ nāpi ca kliṣṭaṃ dvitīyādiṣu darśakam||
vijñānamastīti||
idamidānīṃ vaktavyam| kathamasatyātmani śāśvate tadguṇe ca saṃskāre smṛtihetāvasati pratikṣaṇavinaśvareṣu ca vijñāneṣu ca parasparākṛtasaṃketeṣu pūrvānubhūto'rthaḥ smaryate ? [tada] padiśyate| yadyapi dattottara eṣa vādaḥ, tathāpīdaṃ śāstrānugatamārabhyate|
[27] prayogādaṅgasānnidhyātsabhāgatvācca santateḥ|
prāgvijñānānubhūte'rthe cetasyutpadyate smṛtiḥ||
praṇidhānānubhavajñānapāṭavasātatyakāritvābhyāmasahakāritvābhyāmasahakārikāraṇasānnidhye santatyānukūlebhyaḥ pūrvavijñānānubhūte rūpādau vastuni smṛtirutpadyate|
ātmamanaḥsaṃyogātsaṃskārāpekṣā tadutpattiriti cet| na| ātmamanaḥ- saṃyogaḥ saṃskārāṇāṃ śaśaviṣāṇavadasiddhatvānnityasyāsyātmanaḥ saṃskārāṇāmanupapatteḥ| saṃskārasaṃyogaśca sakalātmavyāpitva(tve) pradeśavṛttyabhyupagamadoṣācca| tasmāt suṣṭhūktaṃ prayogādaṅgasānnidhyādibhyaḥ smṛtirutpadyate paramārthasaṃvṛttiviṣayā||
[28] etadviparyayāt māndyātkleśarogābhibhūtitaḥ|
jñātapūrveṣu vismṛtiḥ saṃprajāyate||
idamidānīṃ vicāryate| duḥkhadarśaṇa (na) heyādinā pañca prakāreṇa vijñānena yadanubhūtaṃ tatkatamena smaryate ? tadidaṃ prastūyate|
[29] dṛṣṭaṃ dvitricatuḥpañcaprakāreṇāpi cetasā|
smaryate sattadanyaiśca nānyo'nyaṃ vyoghadṛkkṣaye||
sarvāni (ṇi) khalu duḥkhadarśaṇā (nā) diheyāni pañcaprakārāṇi paramparānubhūtaṃ smarati(nti)| ayaṃ tva[tra] niyamaḥ-‘nānyo'nyaṃ vyoghadṛkkṣaye|’ nirodhamārgadarśaṇa(na)prahātavyānubhūtaṃ tu nānyo'nyaṃ smṛtipratiniyatālambanatvāt| śeṣāstu trayaḥ prakārāḥ sambhinnālambanatvānna pratiṣidhyante||
[30] vijñānānāṃ tu pañcānāṃ yadekenānubhūyate|
tatsmaryate'pi cānyena
manovijñānenetyarthaḥ|
tena khalvitarairapi||
manovijñānenāpi yadanubhūtaṃ tat ṣaḍbhirapi smaryate||
atha dvādaśānāṃ cittānāṃ ko'rthaḥ kenānubhūtaḥ katibhiḥ smaryate ? dvādaśacittāni| kāmāvacarāṇi kuśalādīni catvāri| rūpāvacarāṇi trīnya(ṇya)nyatrākuśalāt| evamārūpyāvacarāṇyetānyeva trīṇi| śaikṣamaśaikṣaṃ ca| smṛtirapi tatsaṃprayuktā dvādaśavidhaiva|
tatra kiṃ kenānubhūtaṃ ta[d] dvādaśabhirapi smaryate ? kāmāvacarakuśalānubhūtaṃ tad dvādaśavidhayā smarati| evamakuśalena| tannivṛtāvyākṛtānubhūtamaṣṭavidhayā smarati| kāmāvacaryā sarvayā| rūpārūpyāvacaryayā'nyatra nivṛtāvyākṛtānivṛtāvyākṛtāyāḥ śaikṣāśaikṣābhyāṃ ca| evamanivṛtāvyākṛtena| rūpāvacarakuśalānubhūtaṃ sarvābhiḥ smarati| tannivṛtāvyākṛtānubhūtaṃ daśabhiranyatra kāmāvacaraṇi(ni)vṛtāvyākṛtānivṛtāvyākṛtābhyām| tadanivṛtāvyākṛtānubhūtaṃ daśabhiraṇya(nya)trārūpyāvacaraṇi (ni)vṛtāvyākṛtānivṛtāvyākṛtābhyām| ārūpyāvacaraḥ kuśalānubhūtaṃ daśabhiraṇya(nya)tra kāmāvacaraṇi(ni)vṛtāvyākṛtānivṛtāvyākṛtābhyām| tannivṛtāvyākṛtānubhūtaṃ navabhiraṇya(nya)tra kāmāvacaraṃ nivṛtāvyākṛtānivṛtāvyākṛtābhyām| rūpāvacarāccānivṛtāvyākṛtāt| evamanivṛtāvyākṛtena| śaikṣānubhūtamekādaśabhiranyatrakāmāvacaraṇi(ni)vṛtāvyākṛtādevamaśaikṣene(ṇe)ti| saṃkṣepārthastvayaṃ ślokaiḥ pradarśyate|
[31] dvyavyākṛtānubhūtaṃ yaccittaṃ dvādaśakādiha|
vyārūpyarūpaṇi(ni)vṛteḥ smaryate'ṣṭābhireva tat||
kāmadhātau nivṛtāvyākṛtā'nivṛtāvyākṛtābhyāṃ yadanubhūtaṃ tadaṣṭābhiḥ smaryate| rūpārūpyāvacare dve nivate hitvā| śekṣamaśaikṣaṃ caivamanivṛtāvyākṛtena|
[32] rūpārūpyāptanivṛtaśubhābhyāṃ tu kramena(ṇa) yat|
kāmāptāvyākṛte hitvā smaryate daśakena tat||
kāmāvacaraṇi(ni)vṛtāvyākṛte hitvā|
[33] rūpe tvanivṛtākhyena dṛṣṭamavyākṛtena yat|
ārūpyāvyākṛte hitvā tadanyaiḥ smaryate punaḥ||
yatkhalu rūpadhātau anivṛtāvyākṛtenānubhūtaṃ tadārūpyāvyākṛte hitvā tadanyairdaśabhiḥ smaryate||
[34] ārūpyāvyākṛtajñātaṃ yaśceto navakena tat|
kāmāptāvyākṛte hitvā rūpāptānivṛtaṃ tathā||
gatametadaupodghātikaṃ prakaraṇam| prakṛtamevābhidhīyatām||
ya ete'ṣṭādaśadhātava eṣāṃ kati sālambanāḥ katyanālambanāḥ katyupāttāḥ katyanupāttāḥ kati saṃcitāḥ katyasaṃcitāḥ ? tadidamārabhyate|
[35] cittākhyāḥ sapta sālambā dharmākhyaḥ saṃprayuktakaḥ|
sālambanā iti vartate| śeṣāstvanālambanā viṣayāgrahaṇāt||
amūrtā dhvaninā sārdhamanupāttāḥ
ya ete saptacittadhātavo dharmadhātvardhena sahoktāste śabdena sahānupāttāḥ| ato'nye
nava dvidhā||
ye santānādhirohinaḥ(ṇaḥ) pratyutpannāścakṣurādayastadavinirbhāgiṇaśca rūpādayaḥ| śeṣāstvanupāttāḥ| niścetanatvādanātmabhāvaparyāpanna[tvā]cca| śeṣā ye bāhyāḥ kāyendriyasaṃtānavyatirekavartinaste'nupāttā iti siddham||
kati bhūtāni kati bhautikāḥ ? tatrāpyucyate|
[36] spṛśyaṃ dvidhā
atra bhūtāni catvāri bhautikaṃ ca gurutvādisaptaprakāram |
sadharmāṃśāḥ saha tā nava bhautikāḥ|
saha dharmadhātvaṃśenāvijñaptyākhyena ‘sa[ha] tā nava bhautikāḥ’ ||
evaṃ kati mūrtāḥ ?
daśa sāvayavā mūrtāḥ
śeṣāstvamūrtāścakṣurvijñānadhātvādayaḥ|
ta eva daśa saṃcitāḥ||
paramānu(ṇu)saṃghātā ityarthaḥ| ta evāṣṭau cakṣurvijñānadhātvādayo [hitvā śeṣā daśa] saṃcitāḥ||
kati cchettāraḥ kati cchedyāḥ, kati dagdhāraḥ kati dāhyāḥ, kati tolayitāraḥ kati tolyāḥ ? tadidamatrocyate|
[37] rūpagandharasasparśāścchetṛcchedyātmakā matāḥ|
dāhakāstolakāścaite dāhyāstolyāsta eva vā||
‘vā’ śabdo matavikalpārthaḥ| keṣāñcittejodhātureva dagdhā gurutvamevā(va) tolyam||
kati vipākajāḥ katyaupacayikāḥ ?
[38] pañca rūpīndriyātmāno vipākopacayātmakāḥ|
vipākakāraṇahetvadhīnajanmatvāt naiṣyandikāni cakṣurādīni pañca na vidyante| mṛtasya vipākajavyatiriktatanniṣyandābhāvāt| tatra vipākahetorjātā vipākajāḥ, madhyapadalopaṃ kṛtvā gorathavat |

śabdastu vipākajo nāstītyāgamaḥ| yuktirapīcchātastatpravṛtteḥ||
idānomidamucyate | yaścakṣurdhātunā samanvāgataḥ samanvāgamaṃ pratilabhate cakṣurvijñānadhātunāpi saḥ ? yo vā cakṣurvijñānardhātunā cakṣudhātunāpi saḥ ? āha| nātraikāṃśaḥ| yasmāt
[39] cakṣustadupalabdhiśca pṛthagvā saha vā'pnuyāt|
cakṣurdhātuṃ tāvallabhate na cakṣurvijñānadhātum| kāmadhātau kramena(ṇa) cakṣurindriyaṃ pratilabhamānaḥ, ārūpyadhātucyutaśca dvitīyādiṣu dhyāneṣūpapadyamānaḥ| syāccakṣurvijñānadhātunā na cakṣurdhātunā| dvitīyādiṣu dhyāneṣūpapannaścakṣurvijñānamasaṃmukhīkurvāṇaḥ| tataścyutaścādhastādupapadyamānaḥ| ubhābhyāmapi-ārūpyadhātucyutaḥ kāmadhātau brahmaloke copapadyamānaḥ| nobhābhyām-etānākārān sthāpayitvā|
yaśca[kṣu]rdhātunā samanvāgataḥ cakṣurvijñānadhātunāpi saḥ ? catuṣkoṭikāḥ| prathamā-dvitīyādiṣu dhyāneṣūpapannaścakṣurvijñānamasaṃmukhīkurvāṇaḥ| dvitīyā-kāmadhātāvalabdhi(bdha)vihīnaṃ (na) cakṣuḥ| tṛtīyā-kāmadhātau labdhāvihīnaśca (naca)kṣuḥ prathamadhyānopapanno dvitīyādidhyānopapannaśca paśyan| caturthī-etānākārān sthāpayitvā||

manodhāturmaṇo(no)vijñānadhāturdharmadhātavastriprakārāḥ| aṣṭāśītyanuśayasahacariṣṇavastatprāptayaśca darśaṇa(na)heyāḥ|
śeṣā bhāvanāpathasaṃkṣayāḥ||
ye sāsravāḥ| ye tvanāsravāste'praheyā nirdoṣatvāt||
na rūpamasti dṛggheyaṃ nākliṣṭaṃ nāvikalpakam||
pṛthagjanatvamiti cet| na| tasyānivṛtāvyākṛtatvāta, samucchinnakuśalamūlavītarāgāṇāmapi tatsamanvāgamāt| āpāyikaṃ ca kāyavākkarmarūpasvabhāvaṃ tadapyāryamārgavirodhitvādvihīnaṃ na tu prahīnaṃ(ṇaṃ) tasmādubhayaṃ na darśaṇa(na)heyaṃ satyeṣvavipratipatteḥ| duḥkhadharmajñānakṣāntau pṛthagjanatvaprasaṃgācca|
pañcavijñānakāyā [a] vikalpakāste'pi na darśaṇa (na)heyāḥ||
kati sabhāgāḥ kati tatsabhāgāḥ ?
[41] sabhāga eva dharmākhyaḥ śeṣāstūbhayathā smṛtāḥ||
dharmadhātuvarjyā anye dhātavo dvidhā| sabhāgāstatsabhāgāśca||
kaḥ punaḥ sabhāgārthaḥ ko vā tatsabhāgārthaḥ ?
sabhāgastatsabhāgatve svakriyābhāktu tulyate||
yaḥ svakriyāṃ bhajate sa sabhāga ityucyate| yaḥ svakriyāvirahitaḥ sa tatsādṛśyamātrabhajamānatvāt tatsabhāga ityākhyāyate|
atra sabhāgastrividhaḥ| adhvasu svakriyābhedena vācyaḥ| evaṃ tatsabhāgaḥ kriyāvirahito vācyaḥ| anutpattidharmakaṃ caturthamiti kāśmīrāḥ||
kati dṛṣṭiḥ kati na dṛṣṭiḥ ?
[42] cakṣuḥ sadharmadhātvaṃśaṃ navadhā dṛṣṭirūcyate|
cakṣustāvalloke'pi dṛṣṭiriti pratītam| dharmadhātorapi pradeśo dṛṣṭisvabhāvo'ṣṭavidhaḥ kliṣṭākliṭaprajñātmakaḥ| śeṣastu na dṛṣṭiḥ|
pāñcavijñānakī prajñā na dṛṣṭiraṇi (ti) tīraṇāt||
nitīrikā hi dṛṣṭayo vicāraṇāśrayāt| sā tvavikalpikā jaḍasvabhāvā| atyalpamidamucyate| manovijñānabhaumyanirāsādisaṃprayuktā na dṛṣṭiṛ(ri)tyupasaṃkhyātavyam||
kathaṃ puṇa (na) retāḥ prajñāḥ paśyanti ? tadidamāviṣkriyate|
[43] sameghāmegharātryahnordṛśyaṃ cakṣuryathekṣate|
kliṣṭākliṣṭadṛśau tadvacchaikṣāśaiṃkṣe ca paśyataḥ||
yathā sameghāyā(yāṃ) timirapaṭalāvaguṇṭhitacandranakṣatracakrā(kra)prāyāṃ rajanyāṃ rūpāṇi dṛśyante tathā kliṣṭāḥ pañcadṛṣṭayo jñeyaṃ paśyanti| yathā tu vigatarajāṃsi niśākarakiraṇāṃśukāvaguṇṭhitāyāṃ triyāmāyāṃ rūpāṇi dṛśyante, tathā laukikī samyagdṛṣṭiḥ paśyati| yathā tu meghapaṭalāvaguṇṭhite divākarakiraṇānudbhāsite divase rūpāṇi dṛśyante tadvacchaikṣī dṛṣṭiḥ paśyati| yathā tu dravyakanakarasāvasekapiñjaradinakarakiraṇaprotsāritatimirasaṃcaye divase cca(ca)kṣuṣmato devadattasya rūpaṃ cakṣurīkṣate, tathā buddhānāmarhatāṃ prajñācakṣuravidyākleśopakleśamaladūṣikātimirapaṭalavarjitaṃ jñeyaṃ paśyatīti|

āha| yaduktam-cakṣurdarśa(na)maṣṭaprakārā ca prajñā dṛṣṭiriti| atha vijñānaṃ paśyatyatha na paśyati ? yadi paśyati daśadharmā dṛṣṭisvabhāvā bhavanti| atha na paśyati dārṣṭāntikapakṣastarhyujjhito bhavati| devā enaṃ grahīṣyanti grahītavyaṃ cenmaṃsyante|
yattūktaṃ daśadharmā dṛṣṭisvabhāvāḥ prāpnuvantītyatra vijñānasya mukhyadarśanakalpaṇā(nā)pratiṣedhamupariṣṭāt kariṣyāmaḥ| idaṃ tu vaktavyam| cakṣuścakṣurvijñānaprajñāsāmagrīṇāṃ kaḥ paśyati ? kutaḥ saṃśaya iti cet| sarvatra doṣadarśaṇā(nā)t| yadi tāvaccakṣuḥ paśyati yāvatkāyaḥ spṛśati tato yugapat sarvaviṣayopabhogaprasaṃgaḥ| atha cakṣurvijñānaṃ paśyati kastarhi vijānāti ? vyavahitamapi kiṃ na paśyati, apratighatvāt ? atha prajñā paśyati śrotravijñānādiṣvapi prajñā vidyata iti tatrāpi darśaṇa(na)prasaṃgaḥ| atha cakṣurādisāmagrī paśyati sāpi khalu cakṣurādisāmagryaṅgavyatiriktā svabhāvakriyā[']bhāvānna vidyate|
cakṣurādisāmagryaṅgāṇā(nā)mapi pratyekaṃ darśaṇa(na) śaktikriyā'bhāvo[']ndhaśaṃ(śa)tavadityasattvam| sarvasāmagrīṇā(ṇāṃ) sarvakāryakaraṇāpattitvā[t], viśeṣābhāvāt|
hetupratyayasāmagrīṃ pratītya kriyāmātraṃ vijñānamutpadyata iti cet| na| janikarttṛbhāve janmakriyāsvātantryānupapatteḥ, naśyādivat| hetupratyayānāṃ paratantrāṇāṃ svātmanyavasthitānāṃ nirātmakānāṃ nirātmakakaraṇaśaktyayogāt|
kiñca, vijñeyābhāve vijñānānupapatteḥ, dāhyadahanavat|
kiñca, vijñānakriyāśṛ(śri)tābhāve tadabhāvāccitrakuḍyavat| janmanāśayorddharmidharmatve viruddhānāmanyataropapattirviṇā(nā)śasya vā sajātihetutvaprasaṃgaḥ| yajjātyanuvṛttistadbījamiti cet | na | kuśalākuśalādicittanirodhe [bīja]tvānupapatteḥ, sāmagrīpakṣotsargātsāṃkhyamatābhyupagamadoṣācca| teṣāmapi pradhānākhyādbījādekasmānnirapekṣātsarvaṃ saṃbhavati| nimittāntarāpekṣā śaktaśakteriti cet| na| akṣaṇikatvado[ṣāt]| sarvasāmagryaṅgabījābhyupagame kāryasvabhāvādivaicitryaprasaṃgaḥ| tasmānnirdoṣaḥ pakṣo vaktavyaḥ| so'yaṃ prakramyate|
[44] cakṣuḥ paśyati vijñānaṃ vijānāti svagocaramṛ|
ālocanopalabdhitvādviśeṣaḥ sumahāṃstayoḥ||
cakṣurdravyaṃ hi draṣṭṛsvabhāvam| tasya hetupratyayasāmagrīparigrahaprabodhitaśakteḥ rūpadarśanakriyāmātramutpadyate| dravyakriyayoścānyatvaṃ siddhasādhyamānarūpatvānnirapekṣasāpekṣavyapadeśitvācca draṣṭavyam| tatra cakṣurmūrtikriyāvadvijñānādhiṣṭhitaṃ darśaṇa(na)kriyāmārabhate| na vijñānaśūnyam| yathaiva cakṣurvijñānamālocanādhiṣṭhitakriyaṃ vijānāti, na kevalam, paramparānugrahabalāddhyanayoḥ pradīpādipratyayāntaraparigṛhītayoryugapadekasmin viṣaye vṛttilābho bhavati|
yastvetadatipatye(tyai)vaṃ kalpayati-‘kāraṇabhūtābhyāṃ prāgutpannābhyāṃ cakṣūrūpābhyāṃ kāryabhūtaṃ vijñānaṃ sahaikasmin kāle nāvatiṣṭhate’ iti tasya sakṣādviṣayānubhavanābhāvādanumānāgamābhāvaprasaṃgaḥ| anubhavajñāne cāsati manovijñānasmṛtigocarābhāvādanutpattiprasaṃgaḥ| niyataviṣayasmaraṇābhāvācca| tasmādvijñānaṃ niyatāśrayālambanalabdhapratiṣṭhaṃ sahakārikāraṇasāmagrīsannipātopajanitakriyaṃ sākṣādviṣayamupalabhate| cakṣurapyālocayati pradīpastatkālamevāvabhāsayati| ya ete vijñānacakṣūrūpādayaḥ svahetusāmagrīprabodhitaśaktayaḥ [te] viṣayaprativijñaptyālocanāvabhāsanākhyāṃ yugapat saudhīṃ saudhīṃ vṛttiṃ pratipadyanta iti yuktimatī nītiḥ|
tasmātsatsvapyanyeṣu pratyayeṣu darśaṇa(na)kriyāyāścakṣuṣaḥ prādhānyāt, tadevāñjasā paśyatītyucyate| yathā vā devadattaḥ sthālījalajvalanataṇḍulādiṣu satsvapi pāke pravartamāne svasyāmadhiśrayano(ṇo)dakāsecanataṇḍalāvapanadarvīparighaṭṭanācāmanisrāvaṇakriyāyāṃ labdhasāmarthyaḥ sādhanasanniyoge ca paraprāptaiśvaryo devadattaḥ prādhānyātpacatātyucyate| yadā puṇa(na)staṇḍulānāṃ vikledo vivakṣitaḥ pāko vā tadā jalānalayoḥ prādhānyādvyapadeśo bhavatyambu kledayatyagniḥ pacatīti| tasmātsāmagryāṃ satyāṃ darśaṇe(ne) pravartamāne prādhānyāccakṣuḥ paśyatītyucyate| kathaṃ prādhānyamiti cet ? tatprakarṣe darśaṇa(na)prakarṣāt| tulye hi prathamadhyānacakṣurvijñāne dvitīyādiṣu cakṣuṣprakarṣāddarśanaprakarṣo dṛśyata iti| tasmādyuktam-“cakṣuḥ paśyati nayanaḥ(nam) paśyati manasi tu bhaktyā prajñāvṛttirupacaryate manasā paśyati” iti|
tatrayaduktaṃ kośakāreṇa-“kimidamākāśaṃ khādyate| sāmagrayāṃ hi satyāṃ dṛṣṭamityupacāraḥ pravartate| tatra kaḥ paśyati ?” iti| tadatra teta bhadantena sāmagryaṅgakriyā[paharaṇaṃ ?] kriyate| abhidharmasaṃmohāṅkasthānenātmāpyaṅkito bhavatyayogaśūnyatāprapātābhimukhyatvaṃ pradarśitamiti ||
kiṃ puṇa(na)rekenāpi cakṣaṣā paśyati, āhosvid dvābhyāmeveti ? nātra niyamaḥ| yasmāt
[45] ekasya cakṣuṣaḥ kāryaṃ vijñānamathavā dvayoḥ|
iti dvicandradarśaṇā(nā)dervijñānasya ..........||
[prāptagrāhī]ni(ṇi) āhosvidaprāptagrāhīṇīti ? taducyate|
aprāpyārthaṃ manaścakṣuḥ śrotraṃ ca trīṇyato'nyathā||
ghrāṇarasanakāyendriyāni(ṇi) prāptagrāhīṇītyarthaḥ||
atra kāṇādaḥ paśyati| nāprāptagrāhīnī(ṇī)ndriyāṇi| cakṣuṣo hi raśmirgatvā paśyati| śrotraṃ tra sarvagataṃ prāpyaiva sarvaṃ śrṛṇoti| taṃ pratīdamucyate|
[46] aprāptagrāhiṇaḥ siddhā dūrāsannasamagrahāt|
yāvatā hi kālena devadattaḥ svapāṇitalalekhāṃ paśyati tāvataiva candralekhām| na cāyaṃ gatimatāṃ dharmaḥ| gatimanto hi devadattādayo dūraṃ cirādgacchantyāsannaṃ kṣipramiti| na| pradīpavat tatsiddheḥ|
pradīpādiprabhāvaścet
yathā khalu yāvatā kālena pradīpo nediṣṭhaṃ rūpamabhivyanakti tāvatā daviṣṭhaṃ tadvaditi| tatra pratyavasthānam-
na samaṃ tatsamudbhavāt||
yadi pradīpo gacchet, tatrāpyeṣa doṣaḥ prasajyeta| prabhādimadhyānteṣu ca tāpaviśeṣadarśaṇā(nā)t tadekatvāsiddhiḥ| tasya puṇa(naḥ) pratītya yugapat sarvapradīpaprabho(bhāmu)pādāya rūpaparamāṇūnāmutpattistasyaiṣa doṣo nāsti||
[47] sarvagrahaprasaṃgaścennāyaskāntādidarśaṇā(nā)t|
yadyaprāptagrāhi cakṣuḥ brahmaloke brahmāṇaṃ kasmānna paśyati ? tatredamucyate| nāyaskāntavattatsiddheḥ| yathā tulye'pyaprāptākarṣaṇe na prācīno'yaskānto maṇirudīcīnamayaḥ samākarṣati tadvaditi||
atra puṇa(na)rvindhyavāsī paśyati sarvagatatvamindriyānā(ṇā)m| taṃ pratīdamucyate|
sarvagatvādadoṣaścennāyogāttilatailavat||
ko hyanunmatto brūyāttileṣu tailaṃ sarvagatamastīti ? tadvakcakṣuḥśrotrādyadhiṣṭhānebhyo bahirindriyāṇi kaḥ kalpayedamūḍhacetāḥ ?
idaṃ vaktavyam| yatra kāye sthitaścakṣuṣā rūpāṇi paśyati kiṃ tāni kāyacakṣūrūpavijñānāni ekabhaumāni, āhostidanyabhaumikānyapi ? sarveṣāmaniyamaḥ| tatra kāmadhātūpapannasya tāvat svena cakṣuṣā svāni rūpāṇi paśyataḥ sarvaṃ svabhaumam| tasyaivāsya dhyānacakṣuṣā svarūpāṇi paśyataḥ kāyarūpe svabhūmike dvayaṃ prathamāddhyānāt| prathamadhyānabhūmīni paśyato rūpāṇyapi tatratyāni| dvitīyadhyānacakṣuṣā samīkṣamāṇasya kāyarūpe svabhūmike, cakṣurdvitīyād dhyānāt, vijñānaṃ prathamāt| prathamadhyānabhūmīni paśyato vijñānarūpe prathamāddhyānāt, kāyaḥ kāmāvacaraḥ, cakṣurdvitīyāddhyānāt| dvitīyadhyānabhūmīni paśyataścakṣūrūpe dvitīyadhyānabhūmike kāyaḥ kāmāvacāro vijñānaṃ prathamadhyānāt| evaṃ tṛtīyacaturthadhyānabhūmikena cakṣuṣā tadbhūmikādharabhūmikāni rūpāṇi paśyato vijñātavyam| prathamadhyānopapannasya svena cakṣuṣā svāṇi(na) rūpāṇi paśyataḥ sarvaṃ svabhūmikam| adharāṇi rūpāṇi paśyatastrayaṃ svabhūmikaṃ rūpāṇi kāmāvacarāṇi| dvitīyadhyānacakṣuṣā svāni rūpāṇi paśyatastrayaṃ svabhūmikaṃ cakṣurdvitīyāt| kāmāvacarāṇi paśyataḥ kāyavijñāne svabhūmike, kāmāvacarāṇi rūpāṇi, cakṣurdvitīyāt| dvitīyadhyānabhūmīni paśyataścakṣūrūpe tadbhūmike śeṣaṃ svabhūmikam evaṃ tṛtīyādidhyānacakṣuṣā yojyam| dvitīyādidhyānopapannasya svaparacakṣurbhyāṃ svaparabhūmikāni rūpāṇi paśyato yathāsaṃbhavaṃ draṣṭavyam||
niyatastvayam-
[48] na hyūrdhvaṃ cakṣuṣaḥ kāyo na rūpaṃ nākṣijaṃ manaḥ|
vijñānasya tu netrārthastau ca kāyasya savaṃtaḥ||
pañcabhaumāni kāyacakṣūrūpāṇi dvayoḥ savitarkasavicārayorbhūmyoścakṣurvijñānam| tatra yadmūmikaḥ kāyastadbhūmikamūrdhvabhūmikaṃ vā cakṣurbhavati na tvadhobhaumikam| yadbhūmikaṃ cakṣustadbhūmikamadharabhūmikaṃ vāsya rūpaṃ gocarī bhavati nordhvabhūmikam| evaṃ cakṣurvijñānaṃ nādharime cakṣuṣi saṃmukhībhavati| asya tu cakṣurvijñānasya rūpaṃ sarvato viṣayībhavati| kāyasyāpyubhe rūpavijñāne sarvato bhavata iti||

samāpattyupapattikāleṣu kāyasya sarvato bhāvāt| traikālikādhvanirmuktasarvadharmaviṣayitvāt||
kimarthaṃ puṇa(na)rayamalpārthaḥ sumahāgranthasandarbhavidhirārabhyata iti ? kośakṛdācaṣṭe-nahyatra kiñcitphalamutprekṣyata iti| taṃ pratīdaṃ phalamādarśyate| tatra khalu
yogivaiśvarūpyaṃ pradarśitam||
etadvaiśvarūpyaṃ yogiṇāṃ(nāṃ) yadanyataḥ kāyo'nyataścakṣuranyataḥ rūpamanyato vijñānaṃ gṛhītvā paśyanti| vibhūni ca śarīrāṇi nirmāya manojavayā ri(ṛ)ddhyā gatvā buddhā bhagavanto yathecchaṃ lokadhātvā(tva)ntareṣu vineyānāṃ buddhakāryaṃ kurvaṃti| divyābhyāṃ cakṣuḥśrotrābhyāṃ rūpāṇi dṛṣṭvā śabdāṃśca śrutvā yathecchaṃ yugapadanekāni pāñcagatikāni śarīrāṇi nirmāyānekagatidhātvā(tva)ntareṣu vineyakāryaṃ kurvantīti|
gatametat prāsaṅgikaṃ prakaraṇam||
idamadhunā vācyam| skandhopādānaskandhayoḥ kaḥ prativiśeṣaḥ ? taducyate| skandhāstribhiḥ satyaiḥ saṃgṛhītāḥ| yasmāt
[51] sāsravānāsrāḥ skandhā ye tūpādānasaṃjñitāḥ|
sāsravā eva te jñeyāstatsācivyakriyādibhiḥ||
kāraṇairiti vākyādhyāhāraḥ| tasmādupādānaskandhāḥ satyadvayasaṃgṛhītāḥ| nirodhasatyaṃ tu skandhalakṣaṇānupapatteḥ skandhalakṣaṇavyatiriktamiti draṣṭavyam||
[52] adhvādyāḥ skandhaparyāyāḥ
adhvānaskandhāḥ saṃskṛtāḥ kathāvastvityevamādayaḥ|
dharmādyā vastunaḥ sataḥ|
sat vastu dharmo dravyamāyatanaṃ dhāturityevamādayaḥ|
ye tu sāsravasaṃjñāste proktā duḥkhādināmabhiḥ||
duḥkhaṃ loko bhavaḥ samudaya ityevamādibhirṇā(rnā)mabhiḥ śabdayante||
atha kasmāccakṣuḥśrotraghrāṇānāṃ dvitve satyekadhātutā ? tadārabhyate-
[53] svātmyagocarakāryānāṃ(ṇā)mekatvādekadhātutā|
cakṣurādidvibhāve'pi
trayānā(ṇā)mapi khalveteṣāmekasvabhāvatvādekagocaratvādekakāryatvācca dvitve'pi sa[tyekādhipatyaṃ caikadhātutā ca] nirvarta(rte)te|
dvyutpattiḥ karmatṛ(tri)tvaśāt||
ye tu kathayanti “śobhārthaṃ tu dvayodbhavaḥ” iti teṣāṃ ślīpadagantra (nḍa)prabhṛtīnām a(ti) śobhārthamutpattirityāpannam||
idamidānīṃ vācyam| cakṣurādikāraṇasāmagrīsannidhāne sati cakṣurvijñānotpattau kasmāccakṣuḥśrotrādivijñānamityucyate ? tatra [visarjanaṃ kriyate]-
[54] [asādhāraṇa]vaiśiṣṭyādaiśvaryādāntaraṅgayataḥ|
satyapyaṇe(ne)kahetutve vijñānaṃ tairviśeṣyate||
cakṣurādīndriyaviśeṣādvijñānaviśeṣo dṛṣṭaḥ| cakṣurādīnāṃ ca caturbhiḥ kāraṇairīśitvaṃ dṛṣṭam| asādhāraṇakāraṇatvena cāntaraṅgya iti||
atrāha| atha kasmāt sarvapadārthā[nāṃ] dravyasvabhāve(vatve) nirvāṇameva paramārthato dravyamityucyate yato dharmadhātureva tadyogāddravyavānityākhyāyate| kasmācca sarvasaṃskṛtānāṃ kṣaṇikatve sati traya evāntyā dhātavaḥ kṣaṇikā ityucyante ? tadubhayaṃ pradarśyate|
[55] nityatvātkuśalatvācca nirvāṇaṃ dravyamañjasā|
sāradravyena tenaiko dharmākhyo dravyavānmataḥ||
[56] prathamaṃ nirmalaṃ cittamasābhāgyātkṣaṇaḥ smṛtaḥ|
tenādbhutakṣaṇenaite kṣaṇikāḥ paścimāstrayaḥ||
kiṃ puṇa(na)rete cakṣurādayastulyaṃ viṣayaṃ gṛhṇanti, āhosvinnyūnamavikaṃ vā ? tadāviṣkriyate-
[57] ghrāṇaṃ jihvā ca kāyaśca tulyārthagrāhyadastrayam|
dvayoścakṣuḥśrotrayoraṇi(ni)yama ityākhyātaṃ bhavati||
kiṃpuṇa(na)reṣāṃ cakṣurvijñānādīnāṃ sahaja evāśrayaḥ, āhosvidatīto'pi ? taducyate|
paścimasyāśrayo'tītaḥ
manovijñānasya kriyāvato nityamāśrayo'tītaḥ|
pañcānāṃ taiḥ sahāpi ca||
pañcānāṃ vijñānakāyānāṃ taiḥ sahāpi cātītaśceti ‘ca’śabdāt|
evaṃ catuṣkoṭika ārabhyate| ye dharmā vijñānaniśrayāḥ samanantarā api te ? praśnaścatuṣkoṭikaḥ| niśraya eva cakṣurādayaḥ| samanantarā eva vedanādayaḥ| ubhayaṃ samanantaravi(ni)ruddhaṃ vijñānam| nobhayametānākārān sthāpayitvā||
idamidānīmabhidharmasarvasvaṃ kośakārakasmṛtigocarātītaṃ vaktavyam| athaiṣāmaṣṭādaśānāṃ dhātūnāṃ katamaṃ niśrayaṃ niśrṛ(śri)tyānāsraveṇa mārgeṇa katamo dhāturṇi(rni)rudhyate !
[58] niśritya khalvanāgamyaṃ niśrayāṃścaturo'tha vā|
anāsravena(ṇa) mārgeṃṇa cakṣurdhāturnirudhyate||
navasu bhūmiṣu khalvanāsravo mārgaḥ| cakṣurdhātustu pañcabhūmikaḥ| tatra prajñāvimuktasyālabdhadhyānasyāryasya(syā)nāgamyaṃ niśritya cakṣurdhāturnirudhyate| nirodhamārgajñānātmakasya tridhātupratipakṣatvāddhyānalābhinaḥ puṇa(na)ścaturo ṇi(ni)śrayānniśritya dhyānāntarikāyāḥ prathamena grahaṇāt||
[59] anāgamyaṃ tu niśritya gandhadhāturṇi(rni)rudhyate|
dhyānālābhinastannirodhāt|
manodhāturaṇā(nā)gamyaṃ yadi vā saptaniśrayāt||
catvāri dhyānāni trīṃścārūpyān, tasya traidhātukatvāt||
[60] anāgamyaṃ tathaivādyaṃ cakṣurvijñānasaṃjñakaḥ|
nirudhyata iti vartate| tasya kāmaprathamadhyānasamāpannatvāt|
dharmadhātorvicitratvādyathāyogaṃ vinirdiśet||
dharmadhātuḥ khalu kaścitkāmāvacara eva yathā pratighādayaḥ| kaścitkāme prathamadhyānayoryathā vitarkavicārādayaḥ| kaścitkāme prathamadvitīyadhyānayoryathā prītiḥ| kaścitkāme tṛtīyadhyānayoryathā sukhendriyam| kaścittraidhātuko yathā jīvitendriyādayaḥ| ata ucyate ‘yathāyogaṃ vinirdi śet| evamanyānapi dhātūnanenaiva yathoktena nyāyena ‘yathāyogaṃ vinirdiśet’ iti||
idamidānīmanyadvaktavyam| yadā pṛthagjanaścakṣurdhātuṃ rūpāptaṃ parijānāti tadā katamāddhātorvairāgyamāpnoti ? kati ca kutratyānanuśayān jahāti ? kā[ni ca]saṃyojanāni paryādāya jahāti ? tadāviṣkriyate-
[61] cakṣurdhātuṃ hi rūpāptaṃ parijānan pṛthagjanaḥ|
kṛtsnādrūpamayāddhātorvairāgyamadhigacchati||
[62] tasmādanuśayāndhātorekatriṃśajjahāti ca|
paryādatte na kiñcittu saṃyojanamasau tadā||
anuśayānāṃ hi dhātuparicchedo na saṃyojanānām|
[63] rūpavairāgyamāpnoti jahātyanuśayatrayam|
satkāyadṛṣṭiśīlavrataparāmarśavicikitsākhyaṃ rūpadhātuparyāpannam|
tadā saṃyojanaṃ tvāryaḥ paryādatte na kiñcana||
anuśayatrayaṃ kataradāryo jahāti bhavarāgamānāvidyākhyam ? bhāvanāprahātavyaṃ saṃyojanaṃ tu na dhātuparicchinnamiti na kiñcittadā jahāti||
[64] cakṣurvijñānadhātuṃ tu parijānaṃstameva ca|
parijānātyavaśyaṃ ca brahmalokādvirajyate||
[65] na tu saṃyojanaṃ kiñcitparyādatte tadā hyasau|
gandhadhātuṃ rasākhyaṃ ca parijānan pṛthagjanaḥ||
[66] kāmavairāgyamāpnoti dhruvaṃ hyanuśayānapi|
tadā jahāti ṣaṭtriṃśadvartisaṃyojanatrayam||
kāmāvacarācchaṭtriṃśadanuśayāñjahāti| trīṇi ca saṃyojanāni pratighasaṃyojanamīrṣyāmātsaryasaṃyojane ca| gandharasadhātūparijānan pṛthagjanaḥ||
[67] āryastu kāmavairāgyaṃ karotyanuśayānapi|
caturaḥ parijānāti
pratighakāmarāgamānāvidyākhyāna(n) bhāvanāheyān||
paryādatte'pi ca trayam||
pratigherṣyāmātsaryasaṃyojanākhyam||
[68] parijānanmanodhātumārūpyebhyo virajyate|
ārya iti vartate|
jahātyanuśayāṃstrīṃśca
rāgamānāvidyākhyān|
paryādatte trayaṃ tathā||
etadeva||
[69] parijānankhalu prīrti tāmeva prajahātyasau|
ābhāsvarācca vairāgyaṃ yāti hanti tu nāsravān||
tasyāstaduparyabhāvāt|
[70] parijānansukhaṃ yogī prajahāti tadeha ca|
śubhakṛtsnācca vairāġyaṃ yāti kleśānna hanti tu||
sukhendriyasya tatīyādhyānāduparyabhāvādakṛtsnadhātūnna kleśāñjahāti||
gamatetatprayojanāgataṃ prakaraṇam| prakṛtamevocyatām| athaiṣāṃ dhātūnāṃ ke kati vijñānavijñeyāḥ ? tadārabhyate-
[71] dvivijñeyāḥ guṇāḥ pañca
pañcarūpādiguṇākhyā dhātavaścakṣurādivijñānamanovijñānavijñeyāḥ| śeṣā manovijñānavijñeyāḥ||
kati hetuḥ kati na hetuḥ ? tadākhyāyate-
hetuḥ sarve kṣarākṣarāḥ|
sarvadharmā hi kāraṇahetusvabhāvāḥ| kṣarāstu yathāyogaṃ cintyāḥ||
katīndriyātmakāḥ ? kati nendriyasvabhāvāḥ ? tadāviṣkriyate-
anyatra dharmadhātvarthā(dhī)cchaḍbāhyā nendriyātmakāḥ||
arthādāyātamādhyātmikāḥ sarve dhātavaḥ| bāhyāḥ pañcarūpaśabdagandharasasparśadharmadhātoścārdhaṃ nendriyasvabhāvaṃ jīvitendriyaśraddhādisukhādipañcakavarjamiti|
