vyatirekātmikā vyāptirākṣiptānvayarūpiṇī |
vaidharmyavati dṛṣṭānte sattvahetorihocyate ||
yat sat tat kṣaṇikam | yathā ghaṭaḥ | santaścāmī vivādāspadībhūtāḥ padārthā iti svabhāvahetuḥ |
na tāvadasyāsiddhiḥ saṃbhavati, yathāyogaṃ pratyakṣānumānapramāṇapratīte dharmiṇi sattvaśabdenābhipretasyārthakriyākāritvalakṣaṇasya sādhanasya pramāṇasamadhigatatvāt |
na ca viruddhānaikāntikate, vyāpakānupalambhātmanā viparyaye bādhakapramāṇena vyāpteḥ prasādhanāt | yasya kramākramau na vidyete na tasyārthakriyāsāmarthyam | yathā śaśaviṣāṇasya | na vidyete cākṣaṇikasya kramākramāviti vyāpakānupalambhaḥ | na tāvadayamasiddho hetuḥ, akṣaṇike dharmiṇi kramākramasadbhāvāyogāt | tathā hi prāptāparakālayorekatve nityatvam | tasya kramākramayoge kṣaṇadvaye'pyavaśyaṃ bhedaḥ | bhedābhedayośca parasparavirodhāt kuto'kṣaṇike kramākramasaṃbhavaḥ | kṣaṇadvaye'pi bhede kramākramayogaḥ | abhede hi prathama eva kṣaṇe śaktatvād bhāvino'pi kāryasya karaṇaprasaṅge kathaṃ kāryāntarakaraṇe kramāntarāvakāśaḥ | na cākṣaṇikasyākrameṇaiva sakalasvakāryaṃ kṛtvā svāsthyam | kṣaṇāntare'pi śaktatvāt punastatkāryakaraṇaprasaṅgāt |
tasmādakṣaṇikamiti pūrvāparakālayorabhedaḥ | kramākramayoga iti pūrvāparakālayorbhedaḥ | anayośca parasparaparihārasthitilakṣaṇo virodhaḥ |
tadayamakṣaṇike dharmiṇi kramākramābhāvalakṣaṇo heturnāsiddho vaktavyaḥ | kramākramayogitvākṣaṇikatvayorvirodhādeva |
nāpi viruddhaḥ, sapakṣe bhāvāt |
na cānaikāntikaḥ, kramākramābhāvasyārthakriyāsāmarthyābhāvena vyāptatvāt |
yenaiva hi pratyakṣātmanā pramāṇenāparaprakārābhāvādvidhibhūtābhyāṃ kramākramābhyāṃ vidhibhūtasyārthakriyāsāmarthyasya vyāptiḥ prasādhitā, tenaivārthakriyāsāmarthyābhāvena kramākramābhāvasya vyāptiḥ prasādhiteti svīkarttavyam | na hi dahanādinā dhūmādervyāptisādhakapramāṇādaparaṃ dhūmādyabhāvena dahanādyabhāvasya vyāptisādhakaṃ kiñcit pramāṇaṃ śaraṇabhūtamasti | tasmādvidhyoreva vyāptisādhakaṃ pramāṇamabhāvayorapi vyāptisādhakamiti nyāyasya duratikramatvāt sattvābhāvena kramākramābhāvo vyāpta eveti nānaikāntika ityanavadyo vyāpakānupalambhaḥ | tadayamakṣaṇikād vinivartamānaḥ svavyāpyaṃ sattvaṃ nivartyaṃ kṣaṇike viśrāmayatīti sattvahetoḥ kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhirapyanavadyā |
nanu vyāpakānupalambhataḥ sattvasya kathaṃ svasādhyapratibandhasiddhiḥ , asyāpyanekadoṣaduṣṭatvāt | tathā hi na tāvadayaṃ prasaṅgo hetuḥ, sādhyadharmiṇi pramāṇasiddhatvāt, parābhyupagamasiddhatvābhāvāt, viparyayaparyavasānābhāvācca | atha svatantraḥ, tadāśrayāsiddhaḥ | akṣaṇikasyāśrayasyāsaṃbhavāt | apratītatvādvā | pratītarhi pratyakṣeṇānumānena vikalpamātreṇa vā syāt |
prathamapakṣadvaye sākṣāt pāramparyeṇa vā svapratītilakṣaṇārthakāritve maulasādhāraṇo hetuḥ vyāpakānulambhaśca svarūpāsiddhaḥ syāt | arthakriyākāritve kramākramayoranyatarasyā vaśyaṃbhāvāt | antimapakṣe tu na kaściddheturanāśrayaḥ syāt | vikalpamātrasiddhasya dharmiṇaḥ sarvatra sulabhatvāt |
api ca, tat kalpanājñānaṃ pratyakṣapṛṣṭhabhāvi vā syāt, liṅgajanma vā, saṃskārajaṃ vā, sandigdhavastukaṃ vā, avastukaṃ vā |
tatrādyapakṣadvaye'kṣaṇikasya sattaivāvyāhatā | kathaṃ bādhakāvatāraḥ | tṛtīye tu na sarvadā'kṣaṇikasattāniṣedhaḥ , tadarpitasaṃskārābhāve tatsmaraṇāyogāt | caturthe tu sandigdhāśrayatvaṃ hetudoṣaḥ | pañcame ca tadviṣayasyābhāvo na tāvat pratyakṣataḥ sidhyati, akṣaṇikātmanaḥ sarvadaiva tvanmate'pratyakṣatvāt | na cānumānatastadabhāvastatpratibaddhaliṅgānupalambhādityāśrayāsiddhistāvaduddhatā | evaṃ dṛṣṭānto'pi pratihantavyaḥ |
svarūpāsiddho'pyayaṃ hetuḥ, sthirasyāpi kramākramisahakāryapekṣayā kramākramābhyāmarthakriyopapatteḥ | nāpi kramayaugapadyapakṣoktadoṣaprasaṅgaḥ | tathā hi kramisahakāryapekṣayā kramikāryakāritvaṃ tāvadaviruddham |
tathā ca śaṅkarasya saṃkṣipto'yamabhiprāyaḥ | sahakārisākalyaṃ hi sāmarthyam | tadvaikalyaṃ cāsāmarthyam | na ca tayorāvirbhāvatirobhāvābhyāṃ tadvataḥ kācit kṣatiḥ, tasya tābhyāmanyatvāt | tatkathaṃ sahakāriṇo'napekṣya kāryakaraṇaprasaṅga iti |
trilocanasyāpyayaṃ saṃkṣiptārthaḥ | kāryameva hi sahakāriṇamapekṣate | na kāryotpattihetuḥ | yasmāt dvividhaṃ sāmarthyaṃ nijamāgantukaṃ ca sahakāryantaram, tato'kṣaṇikasyāpi kramavatsahakārinānātvādapi kramavatkāryanānātvopapatteraśakyaṃ bhāvānāṃ pratikṣaṇamanyānyatvamupapādayitumiti |
nyāyabhūṣaṇo'pi lapati | prathamakāryotpādanakāle hi uttarakāryotpādanasvabhāvaḥ | ataḥ prathamakāla evāśeṣāṇi kāryāṇi kuryāditi cet | tadidaṃ mātā me bandhyetyādivat svavacanavirodhādayuktam | yo hi uttarakāryajananasvabhāvaḥ sa kathamādau tat kāryaṃ kuryāt | (atha kuryāt) na tarhi tatkāryakaraṇasvabhāva | nahi nīlotpādanasvabhāvaḥ pītādikamapi karotīti |
vācaspatirapi paṭhati | nanvayamakṣaṇikaḥ svarūpeṇa kāryaṃ janayati | taccāsya svarūpaṃ tṛtīyādiṣviva kṣaṇeṣu dvitīye'pi kṣaṇe saditi tadāpi janayet | akurvan vā tṛtīyādiṣvapi na kurvīta, tasya tādavasthyāt | atādavasthye vā tadevāsya kṣaṇikatvam ||
atrocyate | satyaṃ svarūpeṇa kāryaṃ janayati na tu tenaiva | sahakārisahitādeva tataḥ kāryotpattidarśanāt | tasmād vyāptivatkāryakāraṇabhāvo'pyekatrānyayogavyavacchedena | anyatrāyogavyavacchedenāvavoddhavyaḥ | tathaiva laukikaparīkṣakāṇāṃ saṃpratipatteriti na kramikāryakāritvapakṣoktadoṣāvasaraḥ ||
nāpyakṣaṇike yaugapadyapakṣoktadoṣāvakāśaḥ | ye hi kāryamutpāditavanto dravyaviśeṣāsteṣāṃ vyāpārasya niyatakāryotpādanasamarthasya niṣpādite kārye'nuvartamāneṣvapi teṣu dravyeṣu nivṛttārthādūnā sāmagrī jāyate | tatkathaṃ niṣpāditaṃ niṣpādayiṣyati | na hi daṇḍādayaḥ svabhāvenaiva kartāro yenāmī niṣpatterārabhya kāryaṃ vidadhyuḥ | kiṃ tarhi vyāpārāveśinaḥ | na ceyatā svarūpeṇa na kartāraḥ, svarūpakārakatvanirvāhaparatayā vyāpārasamāveśāditi ||
kiṃ ca kramākramābhāvaśca bhaviṣyati na ca sattvābhāva iti sandigdhavyatireko'pyayaṃ vyāpakānupalambhaḥ | na hi kramākramābhyāmanyasya prakārasyābhāvaḥ siddhaḥ, viśeṣaniṣedhasya śeṣābhyanujñāviṣayatvāt |
kiṃ ca prakārāntarasya dṛśyatve nātyantaniṣedhaḥ | adṛśyatve tu nāsattāniścayo viprakarṣiṇāmiti na kramākramābhyāmarthakriyāsāmarthyasya vyāptisiddhiḥ | ataḥ sandigdhavyatireko'pi vyāpakānupalambhaḥ |
kiṃ ca dṛśyādṛśyasahakāripratyayasākalyavataḥ kramayaugapadyasyātyantaparokṣatvāt tena vyāptaṃ sattvamapi parokṣameveti na tāvatpratibandhaḥ pratyakṣataḥ sidhyati | nāpyanumānataḥ, tatpratibaddhaliṅgābhāvāditi |
api ca kramākramābhyāmarthakriyākāritvaṃ vyāptamityatisubhāṣitam | yadi krameṇa vyāptaṃ kathamakrameṇa | athākrameṇa na tarhi krameṇa | kramākramābhyāṃ vyāptamiti tu bruvatā vyāpterevābhāvaḥ pradarśito bhavati | na hi bhavati dhūmo vahnibhāvābhāvābhyāṃ vyāpta iti | ato vyāpteranaikāntikatvam |
api ca kimidaṃ bādhakamakṣaṇikānāmasattāṃ sādhayati, utasvidakṣaṇikāt sattvasya vyatirekam, atha sattvakṣaṇikatvayoḥ pratibandham | na pūrvo vikalpaḥ, uktakrameṇa hetorāśrayāsiddhatvāt | na ca dvitīyaḥ | yato vyāpakanivṛttisahitā vyāpyanivṛttirvyatirekaśabdasyārthaḥ | sā ca yadi pratyakṣeṇa pratīyate tadā taddhetuḥ syāditi sattvamanaikāntikam | vyāpakānupalambhaḥ svarūpāsiddhaḥ | atha sā vikalpyate tadā pūrvoktakrameṇa pañcadhā vikalpya vikalpo dūṣaṇīyaḥ | ata eva na tṛtīyo'pi vikalpaḥ, vyatirekāsiddhau sambandhāsiddheḥ |
kiṃ ca na bhūtalavadatrākṣaṇiko dharmī dṛśyate | na ca svabhāvānupalambhe vyāpakānupalambhaḥ kasyacit dṛśyasya pratipattimantareṇāntarbhāvayituṃ śakyata iti |
kiṃ cāsyābhāvadharmatve āśrayāsiddhatvamitaretarāśrayatvaṃ ca | bhāvadharmatve viruddhatvaṃ ca | ubhayadharmatve cānaikāntikatvamiti na trayīṃ doṣajātimatipatati |
yat punaruktamakṣaṇikatve kramayaugapadyābhyāmarthakriyāvirodhāditi | tatra virodhasiddhimanusaratā virodhyapi pratipattavyaḥ | tatpratītināntarīyakatvād virodhasiddheḥ | yathā tuhinadahanayoḥ sāpekṣadhrūvabhāvayośca | pratiyogī cākṣaṇikaḥ pratīyamānaḥ pratītikāritvāt sanneva syāt, ajanakasyāprameyatvāt |
saṃvṛtisiddhenākṣaṇikatvena virodhasiddhiriti cet | saṃvṛtisiddhamapi vāstavaṃ kālpanikaṃ vā syāt |
yadi vāstavaṃ kathaṃ tasyāsattvam | kathaṃ cārthakriyākāritvavirodhaḥ | arthakriyāṃ kurvaddhi vāstavamucyate |
atha kālpanikam | tatra kiṃ virodho vāstavaḥ, kālpaniko vā | na tāvad vāstavaḥ, kalpitavirodhivirodhatvāt, bandhyāputravirodhavat | atha virodho'pi kālpanikaḥ na tarhi sattvasya vyatirekaḥ pāramārthika iti kṣaṇabhaṅgo dattajalāñjaliriti |
ayameva codyaprabandho'smadgurubhiḥ saṃgṛhītaḥ
nityaṃ nāsti na vā pratītiviṣayastenāśrayāsiddhatā
hetoḥ svānubhavasya ca kṣatirataḥ kṣiptaḥ sapakṣo'pi ca |
śūnyaśca dvitayena sidhyati na cāsattāpi sattā yathā
no nityena virodhasiddhirasatā śakyā kramāderapi || iti ||
atrocyate | iha vastunyapi dharmidharmavyavahāro dṛṣṭo yathā gavi gotvam, paṭe śuklatvam, turage gamanamityādi | avastunyapi dharmidharmavyavahāro dṛṣṭo yathā śaśaviṣāṇe tīkṣṇatvābhāvo bandhyāputre vaktṛtvābhāvo gaganāravinde gandhābhāva ityādi | tatrāvastuni dharmitvaṃ nāstīti kiṃ vastudharmeṇa dharmitvaṃ nāsti, āhosvidavastudharmeṇāpi |
prathamapakṣe siddhasādhanam | dvitīyapakṣe tu svavacanavirodhaḥ | yadāhurguravaḥ
dharmasya kasyacidavastuni mānasiddhā
bādhāvidhivyavahṛtiḥ kimihāsti no vā |
kvāpyasti cet kathamiyanti na dūṣaṇāni
nāstyeva cet svavacanapratirodhasiddhiḥ ||
avastuno dharmitvasvīkārapūrvakatvasya vyāpakasyābhāvādā śrayāsiddhidūṣaṇasyānupanyāsaprasaṅga ityarthaḥ | yenaiva hi vacanenāvastuno dharmitvaṃ pratiṣidhyate, tenaivāvastuno dharmitvābhāvena dharmeṇa dharmitvamabhyupagatam | parantu pratiṣidhyata iti vyaktamidamīśvaraceṣṭitam | tathā hyavastuno dharmitvaṃ nāstīti vacanena dharmitvābhāvaḥ kimavastuni vidhīyate, anyatra vā, na vā kvacidapīti trayaḥ pakṣāḥ |
prathamapakṣe'vastuno na dharmitvaniṣedhaḥ, dharmitvābhāvasya dharmasya tatraiva vidhānāt | dvitīye'vastuni kimāyātam anyatra dharmitvābhāvavidhānāt | tṛtīyastu pakṣo vyartha eva nirāśrayatvāditi kathamavastuno dharmitvaniṣedhaḥ | tasmādyathā pramāṇopanyāsaḥ prameyasvīkārapūrvakatvena vyāptaḥ, vācakaśabdopanyāso vā vācyasvīkārapūrvakatvena vyāptastathāvastuno dharmitvaṃ nāstīti vacanopanyāso'vastuno dharmitvasvīkārapūrvakatvena vyāptaḥ | anyathā tadvacanopanyāsasya vyarthatvāt | tad yadi vacanopanyāso vyāpyadharmastadā'vastuno dharmitvasvīkāro'pi vyāpakadharmo durvāraḥ | atha na vyāpakadharmaḥ tadā vyāpyasyāpi vacanopanyāsasyāsaṃbhava iti mūkataivātra balādāyāteti kathaṃ na svavacanapratirodhasiddhiḥ |
yadāhācāryaḥ - na hyabruvan paraṃ bodhayitumīśaḥ | bruvan vā doṣamimaṃ parihartumiti mahati saṃkaṭe praveśaḥ |
avastuprastāve sahṛdayānāṃ mūkataiva yujyata iti cet | aho mahadvaidagdhyam | avastuprastāve svayameva yathāśakti valgitvā bhagno mūkataiva nyāyaprāpteti paribhāṣayā niḥsartumicchati | na cāvastuprastāvo rājadaṇḍena vinā caraṇamardanādināniṣṭimātreṇa vā pratiṣeddhaṃ śakyate | tataśvātrāpi kramākramabhāvasya sādhanatve sattvābhāvasya ca sādhyatve sandigdhavastubhāvasyāvastvātmano vā kṣaṇikasya dharmitvaṃ kena pratiṣidhyate |
trividho hi dharmo dṛṣṭaḥ | kaścit vastuniyato nīlādiḥ | kaścidavastuniyato yathā sarvopākhyāvirahaḥ | kaścidubhayasādhāraṇo yathā'nupalabdhimātram | tatra vastudharmeṇāvastuno dharmitvaniṣedha iti yuktam | na tvavastudharmeṇa, vastvavastudharmeṇa vā, svavacanasyānupanyāsaprasaṅgādityakṣaṇikasyābhāve sandehe'pi vā vastudharmeṇa dharmitvamavyāhatamiti nāyamāśrayāsiddho vyāpakānupalambhaḥ |
akṣaṇikāpratītā vāśrayāsiddho heturiti yuktamuktam, tadapratītau tadvyavahārāyogāt | kevalamasau vyavahārāṅgabhūtā pratītirvastvavastunorekarūpā na bhavati | sākṣātpāramparyeṇa vastusāmarthyabhāvino hi vastupratītiḥ | yathā pratyakṣamanumānaṃ pratyakṣapṛṣṭhabhāvī ca vikalpaḥ | avastunastu sāmarthyābhāvādvikalpamātrameva pratītiḥ | vastuno hi vastubalabhāvinī pratītiryathā sākṣātpratyakṣam, paramparayā tatpṛṣṭhabhāvī vikalpo'numānaṃ ca | avastunastu na vastubalabhāvinī pratītistatkārakatvenāvastutvahāniprasaṅgāt | tasmādvikalpamātramevāvastunaḥ pratītiḥ | na hyabhāvaḥ kaścidvigrahavān yaḥ sākṣātkartavyo'pi tu vyavahartavyaḥ | sa ca vyavahāro vikalpādapi sidhyatyeva | anyathā sarvajanaprasiddho'vastuvyavahāro na syāt | iṣyate ca taddharmitvapratiṣedhānubandhādityakāmakenāpi vikalpamātrasiddho'kṣaṇika svīkartavya iti nāyamapratītatvādapyāśrayāsiddho heturvaktavyaḥ |
tataścākṣaṇikasya vikalpamātrasiddhatve yaduktam, na kaściddheturanāśrayaḥ vikalpamātrasiddhasya dharmiṇaḥ sarvatra sulabhatvāditi tadasaṅgatam | vikalpamātrasiddhasya dharmiṇaḥ sarvatra saṃbhave'pi vastudharmeṇa dharmitvāyogāt | vastudharmahetutvāpekṣayā āśrayāsiddhasyāpi hetoḥ saṃbhavāt | yathātmano vibhutvasādhanārthamupanyastaṃ sarvatropalabhyamānaguṇatvāditi sādhanam | vikalpaścāyaṃ hetūpanyāsāt pūrvaṃ sandigdhavastukaḥ | samarthite tu hetāvavastuka iti brūmaḥ |
na cātra sandigdhāśrayatvaṃ nāma hetudoṣaḥ | āstāṃ tāvat | sandigdhasyāvastuno'pi vikalpamātrasiddhasyāvastudharmāpekṣayā dharmitvaprasādhanāt | vastudharmahetvapekṣayaiva sandigdhāśrayasya hetvābhāsasya vyavasthāpanāt | yatheha nikuñje mayūraḥ kekāyitāditi | avastukavikalpaviṣayasyāsattvaṃ tu vyāpakānupalambhādeva prasādhitam | evaṃ dṛṣṭāntasyāpi vyomotpalāderdharmitva vikalpamātreṇa pratītiścāvagantavyā | tadeva mavastudharmāpekṣayā'vastuno dharmitvasya vikalpamātreṇa pratīteścāpahnotumaśakyatvānnāyamāśrayāsiddho hetuḥ | na ca dṛṣṭāntakṣatiḥ |
na caiṣa svarūpāsiddhaḥ, akṣaṇike dharmiṇi kramākramayorvyāpakayorayogāt | tathā hi yadi tasya prathame kṣaṇe dvitīyādikṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇasāmarthyamasti tadā prathamakṣaṇabhāvikāryavat dvitīyādikṣaṇabhāvyapi kāryaṃ kuryāt, samarthasya kṣepāyogāt | atha tadā sahakārisākalyalakṣaṇasāmarththaṃ nāsti, tadvaikalyalakṣaṇasyāsāmarthyasya saṃbhavāt | na hi bhāvaḥ svarūpeṇa karotīti svarūpeṇaiva karoti, sahakārisahitādeva tataḥ kāryotpattidarśanāditi cet | yadā tāvadamī militāḥ santaḥ kāryaṃ kurvate tadaikārthakaraṇalakṣaṇaṃ sahakāritvameṣāmastu, ko niṣeddhāḥ | militaireva tu tatkāryaṃ karttavyamiti kuto labhyate | pūrvāparakālayorekasvabhāvatvād bhāvasya sarvadā jananājananayoranyataraniyamaprasaṅgasya durvāratvāt | tasmāt sāmagrī janikā, naikaṃ janakamiti sthiravādināṃ manorājyasyāpyaviṣayaḥ |
kiṃ kurmo dṛśyate tāvadevamiti cet | dṛśyatām, kiṃ tu pūrvasthitādeva paścāt sāmagrīmadhyapraviṣṭād bhāvāt kāryotpattiranyasmādeva viśiṣṭasāmagrīsamutpannāt kṣaṇāditi vivādapadametat | tatra prāgapi saṃbhave sarvadaiva kāryotpattirna vā kadācidapīti virodhamasamādhāya tata eva kāryotpattiriti sādhyānuvādamātrapravṛttaḥ kṛpāmarhati |
na ca pratyabhijñānādevaikatvasiddhiḥ , tatpauruṣasya lūnapunarjātakeśakuśakadalīstambādau nirdalanāt | vistareṇa ca pratyabhijñādūṣaṇamasmābhiḥ sthirasiddhidūṣaṇe pratipāditamiti tata evāvadhāryam |
nanu kāryameva sahakāriṇamapekṣate | na tu kāryotpattihetuḥ | yasmād dvividhaṃ sāmarthyaṃ nijamāgantukaṃ ca sahakāryantarama, tato'kṣaṇikasyāpi kramavatsahakārinānātvādapi kramavatkāryanānātvamiti cet | bhavatu tāvat nijāgantukabhedena dvividhaṃ sāmarthyam | tathāpi tat prātisvikaṃ vastusvalakṣaṇaṃ sadyaḥ kriyādharmakamavaśyābhyupagantavyam | tadyadi prāgapi, prāgapi kāryaprasaṅgaḥ | atha paścādeva, na tadā sthiro bhāvaḥ |
na ca kāryaṃ sahakāriṇo'pekṣata iti yuktam, tasyāsattvāt | hetuśca sannapi yadi svakāryaṃ na karoti, tadā tatkāryameva tanna syāt, svātantryāt |
yaccoktam-yo hi uttarakāryajananasvabhāvaḥ sa kathamādau kāryaṃ kuryāt, (atha kuryāt) na tarhi tatkāryakaraṇasvabhāvaḥ, na hi nīlotpādanasvabhāvaḥ pītādikamapi karotīti tadasaṅgatam | sthirasvabhāvatve bhāvasyottarakālamevedaṃ na pūrvakālamiti kuta etat | tadabhāvācca kāraṇamapyuttarakāryasvabhāvamityapi kutaḥ |
kiṃ kurmaḥ, uttarakālameva tasya janmeti cet | sthiratve tadanupapadyamānamasthiratāmādiśatu | sthiratve'pyeṣa eva svabhāvastasya yaduttarakṣaṇa eva kāryaṃ karotīti cet | na | pramāṇabādhite svabhāvābhyupagamāyogāditi na tāvadakṣaṇikasya kramikāryakāritvamasti | nāpyakramikāryakāritvasaṃbhavaḥ, dvitīye'pi kṣaṇe kārakasvarūpasadbhāve punarapi kāryakaraṇaprasaṅgāt |
kāryeniṣpanne tadviṣayavyāpārābhāvādūnā sāmagrī na niṣpāditaṃ niṣpādayediti cet | na | sāmagrīsaṃbhavāsaṃbhavayorapi sadyaḥ kriyākārakasvarūpasaṃbhave janakatvamavāryamiti prāgeva pratipādanāt | kāryasya hi niṣpāditatvāt punaḥ kartumaśakyatvameva kāraṇamasamarthamāvedayati | tadayamakṣaṇike kramākramikāryakāritvābhāvo na siddhaḥ | na ca kramākramābhyāmaparaprakārasaṃbhavo yena tābhyāmavyāptau sandigdhavyatireko hetuḥ syāt | prakārāntaraśaṅkāyāṃ tasyāpi dṛśyatvādṝśyatva prakāradvayadūṣaṇe'pi svapakṣe'pyanāśvāsaprasaṅgāt | tasmādanyonyavyavacchedasthitayornāparaḥ prakāraḥ saṃbhavati | svarūpāpraviṣṭasya vastuno'vastuno vātatsvabhāvatvāt | prakārāntarasyāpi kramasvarūpāpraviṣṭatvāt | tathātīndriyasya sahakāriṇo'dṛśyatve'pyayogavyavacchedena dṛśyasahakārisahitasya dṛśyasyaiva sattvasya dṛśyakramākramābhyāṃ vyāptiḥ pratyakṣādeva sidhyati | evaṃ kramākramābhyāmarthakriyākāritvaṃ vyāptamiti kramākramayoranyonyavyavacchedena sthitatvādetatprakāradvayaparihāreṇārthakriyākāritvamanyatra na gatamityarthaḥ | ata evaitayorvinivṛttau nivartate ||
trilocanasyāpi vikalpatraye prathamadūṣaṇamāśrayāsiddhidoṣaparihārato nirastam | dvitīyaṃ cāsaṅgatam, vikalpajñānena vyatirekasya pratītatvāt | na hyabhāvaḥ kaścidvigrahavān yaḥ sākṣātkartavyaḥ, api tu vikalpādeva vyavahartavyaḥ | na hyabhāvasya vikalpādanyā pratipattirapratipattirvā sarvathā | ubhayathāpi tadvyavahārahāniprasaṅgāt | evaṃ vaidharmyadṛṣṭāntasya hetuvyatirekasya ca vikalpādeva pratipattiḥ | tṛtīyamapi dūṣaṇamasaṅgatam | vyāpakānupalambhena nirdoṣeṇa sattvasya kṣaṇikatvena vyāpteravyāhatatvāt | tadayaṃ vyāpakānupalambho'kṣaṇikasyāsattvam sattvasya tato vyatirekaṃ kṣaṇikatvena vyāptiṃ va sādhayatyekavyāpārātmakatvāditi sthitam ||
nanu vyāpakānupalabdhiriti yadyanupalabdhimātraṃ tadā na tasya sādhyabuddhijanakatvamavastutvāt | na cānyopalabdhirvyāpakānupalabdhirabhidhātuṃ śakyā bhūtalādivadanyasya kasyacidanupalabdheriti cet | tadasaṅgatam | dharmyupalabdherevānyatrānupalabdhitayā vyavasthāpanāt | yathā hi neha śiṃśapā vṛkṣābhāvādityatra vṛkṣāpekṣayākevalapradeśasya dharmiṇa upalabdhirvṛkṣānupalabdhiḥ | śiṃśapāpekṣayā ca kevalapradeśasya dharmiṇa upalabdhireva rśiśapāyā abhāvopalabdhiriti svabhāvahetuparyavasāyivyāpāro vyāpakānupalambhaḥ | tathā nityasya dharmiṇo vikalpabuddhyavasitasya kramikāritvākramikāritvāpekṣayā kevalagrahaṇādeva kramikāritvākramikāritvānupalambhaḥ | artha kriyāpekṣayā ca kevalapratītirevārthakriyā'yogapratītiriti vyāpakānupalambhāntarādasya na kaścidviśeṣaḥ ||
adhyavasāyāpekṣayā va bāhye'kṣaṇike vastuni vyāpakābhāvād vyāpyābhāvasiddhivyavahāraḥ | adhyavasāyaśca samanantarapratyayabalāyātākāraviśeṣayogādagṛhīte'pi pravartanaśaktirboddhavyaḥ | īdṛśaścādhyavasāyo'smaccitrādvaitasiddhau nirvāhitaḥ | sa cāvisaṃvādī vyavahāraḥ parihartumaśakyaḥ | yad vyāpakaśūnyaṃ tadvayāpyaśūnyamiti | etasyaivārthasyānenāpi krameṇa pratipādanāt | ayaṃ ca nyāyo yathā vastubhūte dharmiṇi tathāvastubhūte'pīti ko viśeṣaḥ | tathā hyekajñānasaṃsargyatra vikalpya eva | yathā ca hariṇaśirasi tenaikajñānasaṃsargi śṛṅgamupalabdhaṃ śaśaśirasyapi tena sahaikajñānasaṃsargitvasaṃbhāvanayaiva śṛṅgaṃ niṣidhyate, tathā nīlādāvapariniṣṭhitanityānityabhāve kramākramau svadharmiṇā sārdhamekajñānasaṃsargiṇau dṛṣṭau, yadi nitye bhavataḥ, nityagrāhijñāne svadharmiṇā nityena sahaiva gṛhyeyātāmiti saṃbhāvanayā ekajñānasaṃsargadvārakameva pratiṣidhyate | kathaṃ punaretasminnityajñāne kramākramayorasphuraṇamiti yāvatā kramākramakroḍīkṛtameva nityaṃ vikalpayāma iti cet | ata eva bādhakāvatāro viparītāropa mantareṇa tasya vaiyarthyāt | kālāntare'pyekarūpatayā nityatvam | kramākramau ca kṣaṇadvaye bhinnarūpatayā | tato nityatvasya kramākramikāryaśakteśca parasparaparihārasthiti lakṣaṇatayā durvāro virodha iti kathaṃ nitye kramākramayorantarbhāvaḥ anantarbhāvācca śuddhanityavikalpena dūrīkṛtakramākramasamāropeṇa kathamullekhaḥ | tataśca pratiyogini nitye'pi vikalpyamāne ekajñāna saṃsargilakṣaṇaprāpte nityopalabdhireva nityaviruddhasyānupalabhyamānasya kramākramasyānupalabdhiḥ | tata eva cārthakriyāśakteranupalabdhiḥ | tasmād vyāpakavivekidharmyupalabdhitayā na vyāpakānupalambhāntarādasya viśeṣaḥ ||
na tvetadavastu dharmitvopayogivastva dhiṣṭhānatvāt pramāṇavyavasthāyā iti cet | kimidaṃ vastvadhiṣṭhānatvaṃ nāma | kiṃ paramparayāpi vastunaḥ sakāśādāgatatvam, atha vastuni kenacidākāreṇa vyavahārakāraṇatvam, vastubhūtadharmipratibaddhatvaṃ vā |
yadyādyaḥ pakṣastadā kramākramasyārthakriyāyāśca vyāptigrahaṇagocaravastupratibaddhatvamasyāpi na kṣīṇam | na dvitīye'pi pakṣe doṣaḥ saṃbhavati, kṣaṇabhaṅgivastusādhanopāyatvādasya | na cāntimo'pi vikalpaḥ kalpyate, tasyaiva nityavikalpasya vastuno dharmibhūtasya kramākramavadbāhyanityopādānaśūnyatvenārthakriyāvad bāhyanityopādānaśūnyatve prasādhanāt | paryudāsavṛttyā buddhisvabhāvabhūtākṣaṇikākāre vastubhūte dharmiṇi pratibaddhatvasaṃbhavāt ||
ayameva nyāyo na vaktā bandhyāsutaścaitanyābhāvādityādau yojyaḥ | etena yathā vṛkṣābhāvādirantarbhāvayituṃ śakyate na tathāyamiti trilocano'pi nirastaḥ ||
na ca kramādyabhāvastrayīṃ doṣajātiṃ nātikrāmati, abhāvadharmatve'pi āśrayāsiddhidoṣaparihārāt | yattvanena pramāṇāntarānnityānāmasattvasiddhau kramādivirahasyābhāvadharmatā sidhyatītyuktam, tadvālasyāpi durabhidhānam | nityo hi dharmī | asattvaṃ sādhyam | kramikāryakāritvākramikāryakāritvaviraho hetuḥ | asya cābhāvadharmatvaṃ nāma asattvalakṣaṇasvasādhyāvinābhāvitvamucyate | tacca kramākrameṇa sattvasya vyāptisiddhau sattvasya vyāpyasyābhāvena kramākramasya vyāpakasya viraho vyāptaḥ sidhyatītyabhāvadharmatvaṃ prāgeva vidhyorvyāptisādhanāt pratyakṣādanumānādekasmādvā pramāṇāntarāt siddhamiti netaretarāśrayadoṣaḥ |
na ca sattāyāmivāsattāyāmapi tulyaḥ prasaṅgo bhinnanyāyatvāt | vastubhūtaṃ hi tatra sādhyaṃ sādhanaṃ ca | tayordharmyapi vastveva yujyate | vastunastu pratyakṣānumānābhyāmeva siddhiḥ | tayorabhāve niyamenāśrayāsiddhiriti yuktam | asattāsādhane tvavastudharmo heturavastu vikalpamātrasiddhe dharmiṇi nāśrayāsiddhidoṣeṇa dūṣayituṃ śakyaḥ | tathā akṣaṇikasya kramayaugapadyābhyāmarthakriyāvirodhaḥ sidhyatyeva | tathā vikalpādevākṣaṇiko virodhī siddhaḥ | vikalpollikhita ścāsya svabhāvo nāpara ityapi vyavahartavyam | anyathā tadanuvādena kramākramādirahitatvādiniṣedhādikamayuktam, tatsvarūpasyānullekhādanyasyollekhā dityakṣaṇikaśaśaviṣāṇādiśabdānuccāraṇaprasaṅgaḥ | asti ca | ato yathā pramāṇābhāve'pi vikalpasiddhasya bandhyāsutādeḥ saundaryādiniṣedho'nurūpastathā vikalpopanītasyaivākṣaṇikarūpasya tata eva pratyanīkākāreṇa saha virodhavyavasthāyāṃ kīdṛśo doṣaḥ syāt | yadi cākṣaṇikānubhavābhāvād virodhapratiṣedhastarhi bandhyāputrādyanubhavābhāvādeva saundaryādiniṣedho'pi mā bhūt ||
nanvevaṃ virodhasyāpāramārthikatvam | taddvāreṇa kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhirapyapāramārthikī syāditi cet | na hi virodho nāma vastvantaraṃ kiñcidubhayakoṭidattapādasaṃbandhābhidhānamiṣyate asmābhirūpapadyate vā yenaikasaṃbandhino vastutvābhāve'pāramārthikaṃ syāt | yathā tviṣyate tathā pāramārthika eva | viruddhābhimatayoranyo'nyasvarūparihāramātraṃ virodhārthaḥ| sa ca bhāvābhāvayoḥ pāramārthika eva | na bhāvo'bhāvarūpamāviśati, nāpyabhāvo bhāvarūpaṃ praviśatīti yo'yamanayorasaṃkaraniyamaḥ sa eva pāramārthiko virodhaḥ | kālāntaraikarūpatayā hi nityatvam | kramākramau kṣaṇadvaye'pi bhinnarūpatayā | tato nityatvakramākramikāryakāritvayorbhāvābhāvavad virodho'styeva ||
nanu nityatvaṃ kramayaugapadyavattvaṃ ca viruddhau dharmau vidhūya nāparo virodho nāma, kasya bāstavatvamiti cet | na | na hi dharmāntarasya saṃbhavena virodhasya pāramārthikatvaṃ brūmaḥ | kiṃ tu viruddhayordharmayoḥ sadbhāve | anyathā virodhanāmadharmāntarasaṃbhave'pi yadi na viruddhau dharmau kva pāramārthikavirodhasaṃbhavaḥ | viruddhauceddhamau tāvataiva tāttviko virodhavyavahāraḥ kimapareṇa pratijñāmātrasiddhena virodhanāmnā vastvantareṇa |
tadayaṃ pūrvapakṣasaṃkṣepaḥ
nityaṃ nāsti na vā pratītiviṣayastenāśrayāsiddhatā
hetoḥ svānubhavasya ca kṣatirataḥ kṣiptaḥ sapakṣo'pi ca |
śanyaśya dvitayena sidhyati na cāsattā'pi sattā yathā
no nityena virodhasiddhirasatā śakyā kramāderapi || iti ||
atra siddhāntasaṃkṣepaḥ
dharmasya kasyacidavastuni mānasiddhā
bādhāvidhivyavahṛtiḥ kimihāsti no vā |
kvāpyasti cet kathamiyanti na dūṣaṇāni
nāstyeva cet svavacanapratirodhasiddhiḥ ||
tadevaṃ nityaṃ na kramikāryakāritvākramikāryakāritvayogīti paramārthaḥ | tataśca sattāyuktamapi naiveti paramārthaḥ | tataśca kṣaṇikākṣaṇikaparihāreṇa rāśyantarābhāvādakṣaṇikānnivartamānamidaṃ sattvaṃ kṣaṇika eva viśrāmyattena vyāptaṃ sidhyatīti sattvāt kṣaṇikatvasiddhiravirodhinī ||
prakṛtiḥ sarvadharmāṇāṃ yadbodhānmuktiriṣyate |
sa eva tīrthyanirmāthī kṣaṇabhaṅgaḥ prasādhitaḥ ||
iti kṛtiriyaṃ ratnakīrteḥ ||
