|ṃamastārāyai ||
ākṣiptavyatirekā yā vyāptiranvayarūpiṇī |
sādharmyavati dṛṣṭānte sattvahetorihocyate ||
yat sat tat kṣaṇikam | yathā ghaṭaḥ | santaśvāmī vivādāspadībhūtā padarthā iti |
hetoḥ parokṣārthapratipādakatvaṃ hetvābhāsatvaśaṅkānirākaraṇamantareṇa na śakyate pratipādayitum | hetvābhāsāśca aśiddhaviruddhānaikāntikaprabhedena trividhāḥ |
tatra na tāvadayamasiddho hetuḥ | yadi nāma darśane darśane nānāprakāraṃ sattvalakṣaṇamuktamāste, arthakriyākārittvaṃ, sattāsamavāyaḥ, svarūpasattvam, utpādavyayadhrauvyayogitvaṃ, pramāṇaviṣayattvaṃ tadupalambhakapramāṇagocaratvaṃ, vyapadeśaviṣayatvamityādi, tathāpi kimanenāprastutenedānīmeva niṣṭaṅkitena | yadeva hi pramāṇato nirūpyamāṇaṃ kadārthānāṃ sattvamupapannaṃ bhaviṣyati tadeva vayamapi svīkariṣyāmaḥ | kevalaṃ tadetadarthakriyākāritvaṃ sarvajanaprasiddhamāste tat khalvatra sattvaśabdenābhisandhāya sādhanatvenopāttam | tacca yathāyogaṃ pratyakṣānumānapramāṇaprasiddhasadbhāveṣu bhāveṣu pakṣikṛteṣu pratyakṣādinā pramāṇena pratītamiti na svarūpeṇāśrayadvāreṇa bāsiddhisaṃbhāvanāpi ||
nāpi viruddhatā,sapakṣīkṛte ghaṭe sadbhāvāt | nanu kathamasya sapakṣatvam, pakṣavadatrāpi kṣaṇabhaṅgāsiddheḥ | na hyasya pratyakṣataḥ kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhiḥ, tathātvenāniścayāt | nāpi sattvānumānataḥ,punarnidarśanāntarāpekṣāyāmanavasthānaprasaṅgāt | na cānyadanumānamasti | saṃbhave vā tenaiva pakṣe'pi kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddheralaṃ sattvānumāneneti cet |
ucyate | anumānāntarameva prasaṅgaprasaṅgaviparyayātmakaṃ ghaṭasya kṣaṇabhaṅgaprasādhakaṃ pramāṇāntaramasti | tathā hi ghaṭo vartamānakṣaṇe tāvadekāmarthakriyāṃ karoti | atītānāgatakṣaṇayorapi ki tāmevārthakriyāṃ kuryāt, anyāṃ vā, na vā kāmapi kriyāmiti trayaḥ pakṣāḥ ||
nātra prathamaḥ pakṣo yuktaḥ, kṛtasya karaṇāyogāt |
atha dvitīyo'bhyupagamyate, tadidamatra vicāryatām | yadā ghaṭo vartamānakṣaṇabhāvi kāryaṃ karoti tadā kimatītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvinyapi kārye śakto'śakto vā | yadi śaktastadā vartamānakṣaṇabhāvikāryavadatītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvyapi kāryaṃ tadaiva kuryāt | tatrāpi śaktatvāt | śaktasya ca kṣepāyogāt | anyathā varttamānakṣaṇabhāvino'pi kāryasyākaraṇaprasaṅgāt | pūrvāparakālayorapi śaktatvenāviśeṣāt | samarthasya ca sahakāryapekṣāyā ayogāt | athāśaktaḥ, tadaikatra kārye śaktāśaktatvaviruddhadharmādhyāsāt kṣaṇavidhvaṃso ghaṭasya durvāraprasaraḥ syāt |
nāpi tṛtīyaḥ pakṣaḥ saṅgacchate, śaktasvabhāvānuvṛttereva | yadā hi śaktasya padārthasya vilambo'pyasahyastadā dūrotsāritamakaraṇam | anyathā vārtamānikasyāpi kāryasyākaraṇaṃ syādityuktam |
tasmād yad yadā yajjananavyavahārapātraṃ tattadā tat kuryāt | akurvacca na jananavyavahārabhājanam | tadevamekatra kārye samarthetarasvabhāvatayā pratikṣaṇaṃ bhedād ghaṭasya sapakṣatvamakṣatam ||
atra prayogaḥ | yad yadā yajjananavyavahārayogyaṃ tat tadā tajjanayatyeva | yathā antyā kāraṇasāmagrī svakāryam |
atītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvikāryajananavyavahārayogyaścāyaṃ ghaṭo vartamānakṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇakāle sakalakriyātikramakāle'pīti svabhāvahetuprasaṅgaḥ | asya ca dvitīyādikṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇavyavahāragocaratvasya prasaṅgasādhanasya vārtamānikakāryakaraṇakāle sakalakriyātikramakāle ca ghaṭe dharmiṇi parābhyupagamamātrataḥ siddhatvādasiddhistāvadasaṃbhavinī |
nāpi viruddhatā, sapakṣe'ntyakāraṇasāmagryāṃ sadbhāvasaṃbhavāt |
nanvayaṃ sādhāraṇānaikāntiko hetuḥ | sākṣādajanake'pi kuśūlādyavasthitavījādau vipakṣe samarthavyavahāragocaratvasya sādhanasya darśanāditi cet | na | dvividho hi samarthavyavahāraḥ - pāramārthika aupacārikaśca | tatra yatpāramārthikaṃ jananaprayuktaṃ jananavyavahāragocaratvaṃ tadiha sādhanatvenopāttam | tasya ca kuśūlādyavasthitabījādau kāraṇakāraṇatvādaupacārikajananavyavahāraviṣayabhūte saṃbhavābhāvāt kutaḥ sādhāraṇānaikāntikatā |
na cāsya sandigdhavyatirekitā, viparyaye bādhakapramāṇasadbhāvāt | tathā hīdaṃ jananavyavahāragocaratvaṃ niyataviṣayatvena vyāptamiti sarvajanānubhavaprasiddham | na cedaṃ nirnimittam, deśakālasvabhāvaniyamābhāvaprasaṅgāt | na ca jananādanyannimittamupalabhyate, tadanvayavyatirekānuvidhānadarśanāt |
yadi ca jananamantareṇāpi jananavyavahāragocaratvaṃ syāt tadā sarvasya sarvatra jananavyavahāra ityaniyamaḥ syāt | niyataścāyaṃ pratītaḥ | tato jananābhāve vipakṣe niyataviṣayatvasya vyāpakasya nivṛttau nivartamānaṃ jananavyavahāragocaratvaṃ janana eva viśrāmyatīti vyāptisiddheranavadyo hetuḥ | na caiṣa ghaṭo varttamānakāryakaraṇakṣaṇe sakalakriyātikramaṇe cātītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvi kārya janayati | tato na jananavyavahārayogyaḥ, sarvaḥ prasaṅgaḥ prasaṅgaviparyayaniṣṭha iti nyāyāt ||
atrāpi prayogaḥ | yad yadā yanna karoti na tattadā tatra samarthavyavahārayogyam | yathā śālyaṅkuramakurvan kodravaḥ śālyaṅkure | na karoti caiṣā ghaṭo vartamānakṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇakāle sakalakriyātikramakāle cātītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvi kāryamitivyāpakānupalabdhirbhinatti samarthakṣaṇādasamarthakṣaṇam ||
atrāpyasiddhirnāsti, vartamānakṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇakāle sakalakriyātikramakāle cātītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇasyāyogāt |
nāpi virodhaḥ, sapakṣe bhāvāt |
na cānaikāntikatā, pūrvoktena nyāyena samarthavyavahāragocaratvajanakatvayorvidhibhūtayoḥ sarvopasaṃhāravatyā vyāpteḥ prasādhanāt ||
yat punaratroktam, yad yadā yanna karoti na tattadā tatra samarthamityatra kaḥ karotyarthaḥ | kiṃ kāraṇatvam | uta kāryotpādānuguṇasahakārisākalyam | ahosvit kāryāvyabhicāraḥ | kāryasaṃbandho veti | tatra kāraṇatvameva karotyarthaḥ | tataḥ pakṣāntarabhāvino doṣā anabhyupagamapratihatāḥ |
na cātra pakṣe kāraṇatvasāmarthyayoḥ paryāyatvena vyāpakānupalambhasya sādhyāviśiṣṭatvamabhidhātumucitam, samarthavyavahāragocaratvābhāvasya sādhyatvāt | kāraṇatvasamarthavyavahāragocaratvayośca vṛkṣaśiṃśapayoriva vyāvṛttibhedo'stītyanavasara evaivaṃvidhasya kṣudrapralāpasya |
tadevaṃ prasaṅgaprasaṅgaviparyayahetudvayabalato ghaṭe dṛṣṭānte kṣaṇabhaṅgaḥ siddhaḥ | tat kathaṃ sattvādanyadanumānaṃ dṛṣṭānte kṣaṇabhaṅgasādhakaṃ nāstītyucyate | na caivaṃ sattvahetorvaiyarthyam, dṛṣṭāntamātra eva prasaṅgaprasaṅgaviparyayābhyāṃ kṣaṇabhaṅgaprasādhanāt ||
nanvābhyāmeva pakṣe'pi kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhirastviti cet | astu, ko doṣaḥ | yo hi pratipattā prativastu yad yadā yajjananavyavahārayogyaṃ tattadā tajjanayati ityādikamupanyasitumanalasastasya tata eva kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhiḥ | yastu prativastu tannyāyopanyāsaprayāsabhīruḥ sa khalvekatra dharmiṇi yad yadā yajjananavyavahārayogyaṃ tattadā tajjanayati ityādinyāyena sattvamātramasthairyavyāptamavadhārya sattvādevānyatra kṣaṇikatvamavagacchatīti, kathamapramato vaiyarthyamasyācakṣīta | tadevamekakāryakāriṇo ghaṭasya dvitīyādikṣaṇa bhāvikāryāpekṣayā samarthetarasvabhāvaviruddhadharmādhyāsād bheda eveti kṣaṇabhaṅgitayā sapakṣatāmāvahati ghaṭe sattvaheturupalabhyamāno na viruddhaḥ |
na cāyamanaikāntikaḥ, atraiva sādharmyavati dṛṣṭānte sarvopasaṃhāravatyā vyāpteḥ prasādhanāt | nanu viparyayabādhakapramāṇabalād vyāptisiddhiḥ | tasya copanyāsavārtāpi nāsti | tatkathaṃ vyāptiḥ prasādhiteti cet | tadetat taralabuddhivilasitam | tathā hi uktametad vartamānakṣaṇabhāvikāryakaraṇakāle'tītānāgatakṣaṇabhāvikārye'pi ghaṭasya śaktisaṃbhave tadānīmeva tatkaraṇam | akaraṇe ca śaktāśaktasvabhāvatayā pratikṣaṇaṃ bheda iti kṣaṇikatvena vyāptaiva sā arthakriyāśaktiḥ ||
nanvevamanvayamātramastu | vipakṣāt punarekāntena vyāvṛttiriti kuto labhyata iti cet | vyāptisiddhereva | vyatirekasandehe vyāptisiddhireva kathamiti cet | na | dvividhā hi vyāptisiddhiḥ | anvayarūpā ca kartṛdharmaḥ sādhanadharmavati dharmiṇi sādhyadharmasyāvaśyambhāvo yaḥ, vyatirekarūpā ca karmadharmaḥ sādhyābhāve sādhanasyāvaśyambhāvoyaḥ | enayoścaikatarapratītirniyamena dvitīyapratītimākṣipati | anyathaikasyā evāsiddheḥ | tasmād yathā viparyaye bādhakapramāṇabalāt niyamavati vyatireke siddhe'nvayaviṣayaḥ saṃśayaḥ pūrvaṃ sthito'pi paścāt parigalati tato'nvayaprasādhanārthaṃ na pṛthak sādhanamucyate tathā prasaṅgatadviparyayahetudvayabalato niyamavatyanvaye siddhe vyatirekaviṣaye pūrvaṃ sthito'pi sandehaḥ paścāt parigalatyeva |
na ca vyatirekaprasādhakamanyat pramāṇaṃ vaktavyam | tataśca sādhyābhāve sādhanasyaikāntiko vyatirekaḥ | sādhane sati sādhyasyāvaśyamanvayo veti na kaścidarthabhedaḥ | tadevaṃ viparyayabādhakapramāṇamantareṇāpi prasaṅgaprasaṅgaviparyayahetudvayabalādanvayarūpavyāptisiddho sattvahetoranaikāntikatvasyābhāvādataḥ sādhanāt kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhiranavadyeti ||
nanu ca sādhanamidamasiddham | na hi kāraṇabuddhyā kārya gṛhyate, tasya bhāvitvāt | na ca kāryabuddhyākāraṇam, tasyātītatvāt | na ca vartamānagrāhiṇā jñānenātītānāgatayorgrahaṇam, atiprasaṅgāt | na ca pūrvāparayoḥ kālayorekaḥ pratisandhātā asti, kṣaṇabhaṅgabhaṅgaprasaṅgāt | kāraṇābhāve tu kāryābhāvapratītiḥ svasaṃvedanavādino manorathasyāpyaviṣayaḥ | nanu ca pūrvottarakālayoḥ saṃvitto, tābhyāṃ vāsanā, tayā ca hetūphalāvasāyo vikalpa iti cet tadayuktam |
sa hi vikalpo gṛhītānusandhāyako'tadrūpasamāropako vā | na prathamaḥ pakṣaḥ | ekasya pratisandhāturabhāve pūrvāparagrahaṇayorayogāt | vikalpavāsanāyā evābhāvāt | nāpi dvitīyaḥ | marīcikāyāmapi jalavijñānasya prāmāṇyaprasaṅgāt | tadevamanvayavyatirekayorapratipatterarthakriyālakṣaṇaṃ sattvamasiddhamiti ||
kiṃ ca prakārāntarādapīdaṃ sādhanamasiddham | tathā hi bījādīnāṃ sāmarthyaṃ bījādijñānāt tatkāryādaṅkurādervā niścetavyam | kāryatvaṃ ca vastutvasiddhau sidhyati | vastutvaṃ ca kāryāntarāt | kāryāntarasyāpi kāryatvaṃ vastutvasiddhau | tadvastutvaṃ ca tadaparakāryāntarādityanavasthā |
athānavasthābhayāt paryante kāryāntaraṃ nāpekṣate, tadā tenaiva pūrveṣāmasattvaprasaṅgānnaikasyāpyarthasāmarthya sidhyati |
nanu kāryatvasattvayorbhinnavyāvṛttikatvāt sattāsiddhāvapi kāryatvasiddhau kā kṣatiriti cet | tadasaṅgatam | satyapi kāryatvasattvayorvyāvṛttibhede sattāsiddho kutaḥ kāryatvasiddhiḥ | kāryatvaṃ hyabhūtvābhāvitvam | bhavanaṃ ca sattā | sattā ca saugatānāṃ sāmarthyameva | tataśca sāmarthyasandehe bhavatītyeva vaktumaśakyam | kathamabhūtvābhāvitvaṃ kāryatvaṃ setsyati | apekṣitaparavyāpāratvaṃ kāryatvamityapi nāsato dharmaḥ | sattvaṃ ca sāmarthyam | tacca sandigdhamiti kutaḥ kāryatvasiddhiḥ | tadasiddhau pūrvasya sāmarthyaṃ na sidhyatīti sandigdhāsiddho hetuḥ ||
tathā viruddho'pyayam | tathā hi kṣaṇikatve sati na tāvadajātasyānanvayaniruddhasya vā kāryārambhakatvaṃ saṃbhavati| na ca niṣpannasya tāvān kṣaṇo'sti yamupādāya kasmaicit kāryāya vyāpāryeti | ataḥ kṣaṇikapakṣa evārthakriyānupapatterviruddhatā | atha vā vikalpena yadupanīyate tat sarvamavastu | tataśca yastvātmake kṣaṇikatve sādhye'vastūpasthāpayannanumānavikalpo viruddhaḥ | yadvā sarvasyaiva hetoḥ kṣaṇikatve sādhye viruddhatvaṃ deśakālāntarānanugame sādhyasādhanabhāvābhāvāt | anugame ca nānākālamekamakṣaṇikaṃ kṣaṇikatvena virudhyata iti ||
anaikāntiko'pyayam, sattvasthairyayorvirodhābhāvāditi |
atrocyate | yattāvaduktaṃ sāmarthyaṃ na pratīyata iti, tat kiṃ sarvathaiva na pratīyate, kṣaṇabhaṅgapakṣe vā |
prathamapakṣe sakalakārakajñāpakahetucakrocchedānmukhaspandanamātrasyāpyakaraṇaprasaṅgaḥ | anyathā yenaiva vacanena sāmarthyaṃ nāstīti pratipādyate tasyaiva tatpratipādanasāmarthyamavyāhatamāyātam | tasmāt paramapuruṣārthasamīhayā vastutattvanirūpaṇapravṛttasya śaktisvīkārapūrvikaiva pravṛttiḥ | tadasvīkāre tu na kaścit kvacit pravarteteti nirīhaṃ jagajjāyeta |
atha dvitīyaḥ pakṣaḥ | tadāsti tāvat sāmarthyapratītiḥ | sā ca kṣaṇikatve yadi nopapadyate tadā viruddhaṃ vaktumucitam | asiddhamiti tu nyāyabhūṣaṇīyaḥ pāpo vilāpaḥ | na ca satyapi kṣaṇikatve sāmarthyapratītivyāghātaḥ | tathā hi kāraṇagrāhijñānopādeyabhūtena kāryagrāhiṇā jñānena tadarpitasaṃskāragarbheṇa asya bhāve asya bhāva ityanvayaniścayo janyate | tathā kāraṇāpekṣayā bhūtalakaivalyagrāhijñānopādeyabhūtena kāryāpekṣayā bhūtalakaivalyagrāhiṇā jñānena tadarpitasaṃskāragarbheṇa asyābhāve asyābhāva iti vyatirekaniścayo janyate | yadāhurguravaḥ -
ekāvasāyasamanantarajātamanya-
vijñānamanvayavimarśamupādadhāti |
evaṃ tadekavirahānubhavodbhavānya-
vyāvṛttidhīḥ prathayati vyatirekabuddhim ||
evaṃ sati gṛhītānusandhāyaka evāyaṃ vikalpaḥ, upādānopādeyabhūtakramipratyakṣadvayagṛhītānusandhānāt | yadāhālaṅkāraḥ-
yadi nāmaikamadhyakṣaṃ na pūrvāparavittimat |
adhyakṣadvayasadbhāve prākparāvedanaṃ katham || iti ||
nāpi dvitīyo'siddhaprabhedaḥ | sāmarthyaṃ hi sattvamiti saugatānāṃ sthitireṣā | na caitatprasādhanārthamasmākamidānīmeva prārambhaḥ | kiṃ tu yatra pramāṇapratītebījādau vastubhūte dharmiṇi pramāṇapratītaṃ sāmarthyaṃ tatra kṣaṇabhaṅgaprasādhanāya | tataścāṅkurādīnāṃ kāryādarśanādāhatya sāmarthyasandehe'pi paṭupratyakṣaprasiddhamasatparāvṛttaṃ sanmātratvamavāryameva | anyathāṅkurādau sattāmātrānabhyupagame pratidarśanaṃ lakṣaṇabhedapraṇayanāyogāt | sarvatra sadvyavahārābhāvaprasaṅgācca | tasmācchāstrīyasattvalakṣaṇasandehe'pi paṭupratyakṣabalāvalambitavastubhāve'ṅkurādau kāryatvamupalabhyamānaṃ bījādeḥ sāmarthyamupasthāpayatīti nāsiddhidoṣāvakāśaḥ ||
nāpi kṣaṇikatve sāmarthyakṣatiḥ, yato viruddhatā syāt | kṣaṇikatvaniyataprāgbhāvitvalakṣaṇakāraṇatvayorvirodhābhāvāt kṣaṇamātrasthāyino'pi sāmarthyasaṃbhavāditi nādimo virodhaḥ | nāpi dvitīyo virodhaprabhedaḥ | avastuno vastuno vā svākārasya grāhyatvepi adhyavaseyavastvapekṣayaiva sarvatra prāmāṇyapratipādanād vastusvabhāvasyaiva kṣaṇikatvasya siddhiriti kva virodhaḥ |
yacca gṛhyate yaccādhyavasīyate te dve apyanyanivṛttī na vastunī, svalakṣaṇāvagāhitve'bhilāpasaṃsargānupapatteriti cet | na | adhyavasāyasvarūpāparijñānāt | agṛhīte'pi vastuni mānasyādipravṛttikārakatvaṃ vikalpasyādhyavasāyitvam | apratibhāse'pi pravṛttiviṣayīkṛtatvamadhyavaseyatvam | etaccādhyavaseyatvaṃ svalakṣaṇasyaiva yujyate, nānyasya | arthakriyārthitvādarthipravṛtteḥ | evaṃ cādhyavasāye svalakṣaṇasyāsphuraṇameva | na ca tasyāsphuraṇai'pi sarvatrāviśeṣeṇa pravṛttyākṣepaprasaṅgaḥ, pratiniyatasāmagrīprasūtāt, pratiniyatasvākārāt, pratiniyataśaktiyogāt, pratiniyataevātadrūpaparāvṛtte'pratīte'pi pravṛttisāmarthyadarśanāt, yathā sarvasyāsattve'pi bījādaṅkurasyaivotpattiḥ, dṛṣṭasya niyatahetuphalabhāvasya pratikṣeptumaśakyatvāt | paraṃ bāhyenārthena sati pratibandhe prāmāṇyam | anyathā tvaprāmāṇyamiti viśeṣaḥ ||
tathā tṛtīyo'pi pakṣaḥ prayāsaphalaḥ | nānākālasyaikasya vastuno vastuto'saṃbhave'pi sarvadeśakālavartinoratadrūpaparāvṛttayoreva sādhyasādhanayoḥ pratyakṣeṇa vyāptigrahaṇāt | dvividho hi pratyakṣasya viṣayaḥ grāhyo'dhyavaseyaśca | sakalātadrūpaparāvṛttaṃ vastumātraṃ sākṣādasphuraṇāt pratyakṣasya grāhyo viṣayo mā bhūt, tadekadeśagrahaṇe tu tanmātrayorvyāptiniścāyakavikalpajananādadhyavaseyo viṣayo bhavatyeva | kṣaṇagrahaṇe santānaniścayavat | rūpamātragrahaṇe rūparasagandhasparśātmakaghaṭaniścayavacca | anyathā sarvānumānocchedaprasaṅgāt ||
tathā hi vyāptigrahaḥ sāmānyayoḥ, viśeṣayoḥ, sāmānyaviśiṣṭasvalakṣaṇayoḥ svalakṣaṇa viśiṣṭasāmānyayorveti vikalpāḥ |
nādyo vikalpaḥ, sāmānyasya bādhyatvāt | abādhyatve'pyadṛśyatvāt | dṛśyatve'pi puruṣārthānupayogitayā tasyānumeyatvāyogāt | nāpyanumitāt sāmānyād viśeṣānumānam | sāmānyasarvasvalakṣaṇayorvakṣyamāṇanyāyena pratibandhapratipatterayogāt |
nāpi dvitīyaḥ, viśeṣasyānanugāmitvāt |
antime tu vikalpadvaye sāmānyādhāratayā dṛṣṭa eva viśeṣaḥ sāmānyasya viśeṣyo viśeṣaṇaṃ vā karttavyaḥ | adṛṣṭa eva vā deśakālāntaravartī | yadvā dṛṣṭādṛṣṭātmako deśakālāntarvarttyatadrūpaparāvṛttaḥ sarvo viśeṣaḥ |
na prathamaḥ pakṣo'nanugāmitvāt | nāpi dvitīyaḥ, adṛṣṭatvāt | na ca tṛtīyaḥ, prastutaikaviśeṣadarśane'pi deśakālāntaravartināṃ viśeṣāṇāmadarśanāt |
atha teṣāṃ sarveṣāmeva viśeṣāṇāṃ sadṛśatvāt, sadṛśasāmagrīprasūtatvāt, sadṛśakāryakāritvāditi pratyāsattyā ekaviśeṣagrāhakaṃ pratyakṣamatadrūpaparāvṛttamātre niścayaṃ janayadatadrūpaparāvṛttaviśeṣamātrasya vyavasthāpakam | yathaikasāmagrīpratibaddharūpamātragrāhakaṃ pratyakṣaṃṃ ghaṭe niścayaṃ janayad ghaṭagrāhakaṃ vyavasthāpyate | anyathā ghaṭo'pi ghaṭasantāno'pi pratyakṣato na sidhyate, sarvātmanā grahaṇābhāvāt | tadekadeśagrahaṇaṃ tvatadrūpaparāvṛtte'pyaviśiṣṭam | yadyevamanenaiva krameṇa sarvasya viśeṣasya viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhāvavat vyāptipratipattirapyastu | tat kimarthaṃ nānākālamekamakṣaṇikamabhyupagantavyaṃ yena kṣaṇikatva sādhanasya viruddhatvaṃ syāditi na kaścidvirodha prabhedaprasaṅgaḥ ||
na cāyamanaikāntiko'pi hetuḥ, pūrvoktakrameṇa sādharmyadṛṣṭānte prasaṅgaviparyayahetubhyāmanvayarūpavyāpteḥ prasādhanāt | nanu yadi prasaṅgaviparyayahetudvayabalato ghaṭedṛṣṭānte kṣaṇabhaṅgaḥ sidhyet tadā sattvasya niyamena kṣaṇikatvena vyāptisiddheranaikāntikatvaṃ nasyāditi yuktam | kevalamidamevāsambhavi | tathā hi śakto'pi ghaṭaḥ kramikasahakāryapekṣayā kramikāryaṃ kariṣyati |
na caitad vaktavyam | samartho'rthaḥ svarūpeṇa karoti | svarūpaṃ ca sarvadāstītyanupakāriṇī sahakāriṇyapekṣā na yujyata iti | satyapi svarūpeṇa kārakatve sāmarthyābhāvāt kathaṃ karotu | sahakārisākalyaṃ hi sāmarthyam | tadvaikalyaṃ cāsāmarthyam | na ca tayorāvirbhāvatirobhāvābhyāṃ tadvataḥ kācit kṣatiḥ, tasya tābhyāmanyatvāt | tasmādarthaḥ samartho'pi syāt, na ca karotīti sandigdhavyatirekaḥ prasaṅgahetuḥ ||
atrocyate | bhavatu tāvat sahakārisākalyameva sāmarthyam | tathāpi so'pi tāvad bhāvaḥ svarūpeṇa kārakaḥ | tasya ca yādṛśaścaramakṣaṇe'kṣepakriyādharmā svabhāvastādṛśa eva cet prathamakṣaṇe tadā tadāpi prasahya kurvāṇo brahmaṇāpyanivāryaḥ | na ca so'pyakṣepakriyādharmā svabhāvaḥ sākalye sati jāto bhāvād bhinna evābhidhātuṃ śakyaḥ, bhāvasyākartṛtvaprasaṅgāt | evaṃ yāvad dharmāntaraparikalpastāvattāvadudāsīno bhāvaḥ | tasmād yadrūpamādāya svarūpeṇāpi janayatītyucyate tasya prāgapi bhāve kathamajaniḥ kadācit | akṣepakriyāpratyanīkasvabhāvasya vā prācyasya paścādanuvṛttau kathaṃ kadācidapi kāryasaṃbhavaḥ ||
nanu yadi sa evaikaḥ kartā syād yuktametat | kiṃ tu sāmagrī janikā | tataḥ sahakāryantaravirahavelāyāṃ balīyaso'pi na kāryaprasava iti kimatra viruddham| na hi bhāvaḥ svarūpeṇa karotīti svarūpeṇaiva karoti, sahakārisahitādeva tataḥ kāryotpattidarśanāt | tasmād vyāptivat kāryakāraṇabhāvo'pyekatrānyayogavyavacchedenānyatrāyogavyacchedenāvaboddhavyaḥ, tathaiva laukikaparīkṣakāṇāṃ saṃpratipatteriti ||
atrocyate | yadā militāḥ santaḥ kāryaṃ kurvate tadaikārthakaraṇalakṣaṇaṃ sahakāritvameṣāmastu, ko niṣeddhā | militaireva tu tat kāryaṃ karttavyamiti kuto labhyate | pūrvāparayoarekasvabhāvatvād bhāvasya sarvadā jananājananayoranyataraniyamaprasaṅgasya durvāratvāt | tasmāt sāmagrī janikā, naikaṃ janakamiti sthiravādināṃ manorathasyāpyaviṣayaḥ |
dṛśyate tāvadidamiti cet | dṛśyatām | kiṃ tu pūrvasthitādeva sāmagrīmadhyapraviṣṭād bhāvāt kāryotpattiranyasmādeva vā viśiṣṭād bhāvādutpannāditi vivādapadam | tatra prāgapi saṃbhave sarvadaiva kāryotpattirna vā kadācidapīti virodhamasamādhāya cakṣuṣī nimīlya tata eva kāryotpattidarśanāditi sādhyānuvādamātrapravṛttaḥ kṛpāmarhatīti |
na ca pratyabhijñādibalādekatvasiddhiḥ | tat pauruṣasya lūnapunarjātakeśanakhādāvapyupalambhato nirdalanāt | lakṣaṇabhedasya ca darśayitumaśakyatvāt | sthirasiddhadūṣaṇe cāsmābhiḥ prapañcato nirastatvāt | tasmāt sākṣāt kāryakāraṇabhāvāpekṣayobhayatrāpyanyayogavyavacchedaḥ | vyāptau tu sākṣāt paramparayā kāraṇamātrāpekṣayā kāraṇe vyāpake'yogavyavacchedaḥ | kārye vyāpye'nyayogavyavacchedaḥ | tathā tadatatsvabhāve vyāpake'yogavyavacchedaḥ | tatsvabhāve ca vyāpye'nyayogavyavacchedaḥ | vikalpārūḍharūpāpekṣayā vyāptau dvividhamavadhāraṇam |
nanu yadi pūrvāparakālayorekasvabhāvo bhāvaḥ sarvadā janakatvenājanakatvena vā vyāpta upalabdhaḥ syāt, tadāyaṃ prasaṅgaḥ saṃgacchate | na ca kṣaṇabhaṅgavādinā pūrvāparakālayorekaḥ kaścidupalabdha iti cet | tadetadatigrāmyam | tathā hi pūrvāparakālayorekasvabhāvatve satītyasyāyamarthaḥ | parakālabhāvī janako yaḥ svabhāvo bhāvasya sa eva yadi pūrvakālabhāvī, pūrvakālabhāvī vā yo'janakaḥ svabhāvaḥ sa eva yadi parakālabhāvī tadopalabdhameva jananamajananaṃ vā syāt | tathā ca sati siddhayoreva svabhāvayorekatvārope siddhameva jananamajananaṃ vāsajyata iti |
nanu kāryameva sahakāriṇamamekṣate, na tu kāryotpattihetuḥ | yasmād dvividhaṃ sāmarthyaṃ nijamāgantukaṃ na sahakāryantaram, tato'kṣaṇikasyāpi kramavat sahakārinānātvādapi kramavat kāryanānātvopapatteraśakyaṃ bhāvānāṃ pratikṣaṇamanyānyatvamupapādayitumiti cet | ucyate | bhavatu tāvannijāgantukabhedena dvividhaṃ sāmarthyam | tathāpi yat prātisvikaṃ vastusvalakṣaṇamarthakriyādharmakamavaśya mabhyupagantavyam, tat kiṃ prāgapi paścādeva veti vikalpya yaddūṣaṇamudīritaṃ tatra kimuktamaneneti na pratīmaḥ| yattu kāryeṇaiva sahakāriṇo'pekṣyanta ityupaskṛtaṃ tadapi nirupayogam | yadi hi kāryameva svajanmani svatantraṃ syād yuktametat | kevalamevaṃ sati sahakārisākalyasāmarthyakalpanamaphalam | svatantrādeva hi kāryaṃ kādācitkaṃ bhaviṣyati | tathā ca sati santo hetavaḥ sarvathā'samarthāḥ | asadetat kāryaṃ svatantramiti viśuddhā buddhiḥ |
atha kāryasyaivāyamaparādho yadidaṃ samarthe kāraṇe satyapi kadācinnopapadyata iti cet | na tattarhi tatkāryaṃ svātantryāt | yadbhāṣyam
sarvāvasthāsamāne'pi kāraṇe yadyakāryatā |
svatantraṃ kāryamevaṃ syānna tatkāryaṃ tathā sati ||
atha na tadbhāve bhavatīti tatkāryamucyate | kiṃtu tadabhāve na bhavatyeveti, vyatirekaprādhānyāditi cet | na | yadi hi svayaṃ bhavan bhāvayedeva hetuḥ svakāryam, tadā tadabhāvaprayukto'syābhāva iti pratītiḥ syāt | no ced yathā kāraṇe satyapi kārya svātantryānna bhavati, tathā tadabhāve'pi svātantryādeva na bhūtamiti śaṅkā kena nivāryeta | yad bhāṣyam
tadbhāve'pi na bhāvaścedabhāve'bhāvitā kutaḥ |
tadabhāvaprayukto'sya so'bhāva iti tat kutaḥ |
tasmād yathaiva tadabhāve niyamena na bhavati tathaiva tadbhāve niyamena bhavedeva | abhavacca na tatkāraṇatāmātmanaḥ kṣamate |
yaccoktaṃ prathamakāryotpādanakāle hi uttarakāryotpādanasvabhāvaḥ, ataḥ prathamakāla evāśeṣāṇi kāryāṇi kuryāditi | tadidaṃ mātā me bandhyetyādivat svavacanavirodhādayuktam | yo hi uttarakāryajananasvabhāvaḥ sa kathamādau kāryaṃ kuryāt | na tarhi tatkāryakaraṇasvabhāvaḥ | na hi nīlotpādanasvabhāvaḥ pītādikamapi karotīti |
atrocyate | sthirasvabhāvatve hi bhāvasyottarakālamevedaṃ kāryaṃ na pūrvakālamiti kuta etat | tadabhāvācca kāraṇamapyutarakāryakaraṇasvabhāvamityapi kutaḥ | kiṃ kurmaḥ | uttarakālameva tasya janmeti cet | astu sthiratve tadanupapadyamānamasthiratāmādiśatu |
sthiratve'pyeṣa eva svabhāvastasya yaduttarakṣaṇa eva karotīti cet | hatedānīṃ pramāṇapratyāśā | dhūmādatrāgnirityatrāpi svabhāva evāsya yadidānīmatra niragnirapi dhūma iti vaktuṃ śakyatvāt | tasmāt pramāṇaprasiddhe svabhāvālambanam | na tu svabhāvāvalambanena pramāṇavyālopaḥ | tasmād yadi kāraṇasyottarakāryakārakatvamabhyupagamya kāryasya prathamakṣaṇabhāvitvamāsajyate, syāt svavacanavirodhaḥ | yadā tu kāraṇasya sthiratve kāryasyottarakālatvamevāsaṅgatamataḥ kāraṇasyāpyuttarakāryajanakatvaṃ vastuto'sambhavi tadā prasaṅgasādhanamidam | jananavyavahāragocaratvaṃ hi jananena vyāptamiti prasādhitam | uttarakāryajananavyavahāragocaratvaṃ ca tvadabhyupagamāt prathamakāryakaraṇakāla eva ghaṭe dharmiṇi siddham | atastanmātrānubandhina uttarābhimatasta karyasya prathame kṣaṇe'saṃbhavā deva prasaṅgaḥ kriyate | na hi nīlakārake'pi pītakārakatvārope pītasaṃbhavaprasaṅgaḥ svavacanavirodho nāma | tadevaṃ śaktaḥ sahakāryanapekṣitatvād jananena vyāptaḥ | ajanaryaśca śaktāśaktatvaviruddhadharmādhyāsād bhinna eva ||
nanu bhavatu prasaṅgaviparyayabalādekakāryaṃ prati śaktāśaktatvalakṣaṇaviruddhadharmādhyāsaḥ | tathāpi na tato bhedaḥ sidhyati | tathā hi bījamaṅkurādikaṃkurvad yadi yenaiva svabhāvenāṅkurādikaṃ karoti tenaiva kṣityādikaṃ tadā kṣityādīnāmapyaṅkurasvābhāvyāpattiḥ | nānāsvabhāvatvena tu kārakatve svabhāvānāmanyonyābhāvāvyabhicāritvādekatra bhāvābhavau parasparaviruddhau syātāmityekamapi bījaṃ bhidyeta | evaṃ pradīpo'pi tailakṣayavarttidāhādikam | tathā pūrvarūpamapyuttararūparasagandhādikamanaikaiḥ svabhāvaiḥ parikalitaṃ karoti | teṣāṃ ca svabhāvānāmanyo'nyābhāvāvyabhicārādviruddhānāṃ yoge pradīpādikaṃ bhidyeta | na ca bhidyate |
tanna viruddhadharmādhyāso bhedakaḥ | tathā bījasyāṅkuraṃ prati kārakatvaṃ gardabhādikaṃ pratyakārakatvamiti kārakatvākārakatve api viruddho dharmau | na ca tadyoge'pi bījabhedaḥ | tadevamekatra bīje pradīpe rūpe ca vipakṣe paridṛśyamānaḥ śaktāśaktatvādirviruddhadharmādhyāso na ghaṭāderbhedaka iti |
atra brūmaḥ | bhavatu tāvad bījādīnāmanekakāryakāritvāddharmabhūtānekasvabhāvabhedaḥ, tathāpi kaḥ prastāvo viruddhadharmādhyāsasya | svabhāvānāṃ hyanyonyābhāvāvyabhicāre bhedaḥ prāptāvasaro na virodhaḥ | virodhastu yadvidhāne yanniṣedho yanniṣedhe ca yadvidhānaṃ tayorekatra dharmiṇi parasparaparihārasthitatayā syāt | tadatraikaḥ svabhāvaḥ svābhāvena viruddho yukto bhāvābhāvavat | na tu svabhāvāntareṇa ghaṭatvavastutvavat | evamaṅkurādikāritvaṃ tadakāritvena viruddhaṃ na punarvastvantarakāritvena | pratyakṣavyāpāraścātra yathā nānādharmairadhyāsitaṃ bhāvamabhinnaṃ vyavasthāpayati tathā tatkāryakāriṇaṃ kāryāntarākāriṇaṃ ca | tad yadi pratiyogitvābhāvādanyonyābhāvāvyabhiocāriṇāvapi svabhāvāvaviruddhau tatkārakatvānyākārakatve vāviṣayabhedādaviruddhe tat kimāyātamekakāryaṃ prati śaktāśaktatvayoḥ parasparapratiyoginorviruddhayordharmayīḥ | etayorapi punaravirodhe virodho nāma dattajalāñjaliḥ ||
bhavatu tarhyekakāryāpekṣayaiva sāmarthyāsāmarthyayorvirodhaḥ | kevalaṃ yathā tadeva kāryaṃ prati kvaciddeśe śaktirdeśāntare cāśaktiriti deśabhedādaviruddhe śaktyaśaktī tathaikatraiva kāryakālabhedādapyaviruddhe | yathā pūrvaṃ niṣkriyaḥ sphaṭikaḥ sa eva paścāt sakriya iti cet | ucyate | na hi vayaṃ paribhāṣāmātrādekatra kārye deśabhedādaviruddhe śaktyaśaktī brūmaḥ, kiṃ tu virodhābhāvāt | taddeśakāryakāritvaṃ hi taddeśakāryākāritvena viruddham | na punardeśāntare tatkāryākāritvenānyakāryakāritvena vā ||
yadyevaṃ tatkālakāryakāritvaṃ tatkālakāryākāritvena viruddham | na punaḥ kālāntare tatkāryākāritvenānyakāryakāritvena vā | tatkathaṃ kālabhede'pi virodha iti cet | ucyate | dvayorhi dharmayorekatra dharmiṇyanavasthitiniyamaḥ parasparaparihārasthitilakṣaṇo virodhaḥ | sa ca sākṣātparasparapratyanīkatayā bhāvābhāvavad vā bhavet, ekasya vā niyamena pramāṇāntareṇa bādhanānnityatvasattvavad vā bhavediti na kaścidarthabhedaḥ | tadatraikadharmiṇi tatkālatat kāryakāritvādhāre kālāntare tatkāryākāritvasyānyakāryakāritvasya vā niyamena pramāṇāntareṇa bādhanādvirodhaḥ | tathā hio yatraiva dharmiṇi tatkālakāryakāritvamupalabdhaṃ na tatraiva kālāntare tatkāryākāritvamanyakāryakāritvaṃ vā brahmaṇāpyupasaṃhartuṃ śakyate, yenānayoravirodhaḥ syāt | kṣaṇāntare kathitaprasaṅgaviparyayahetubhyāmavaśyaṃbhāvena dharmibhedaprasādhanāt ||
na ca pratyabhijñānādekatvasiddhiḥ, tatpauruṣasya nirmūlitatvāt | ata eva vajro'pi pakṣakukṣau nikṣiptaḥ | kathamasau sphaṭiko barākaḥ kālabhedenābhedaprasādhanāya dṛṣṭāntībhavitumarhati | na caivaṃ samānakālakāryāṇāṃ deśabhede'pi dharmibhedo yukto bhedaprasādhakapramāṇābhāvāt | indriyapratyakṣeṇa nirastavibhramāśaṅkenābhedaprasādhanācceti na kālabhede'pi śaktyaśaktyorvirodhaḥ svasamayamātrādapahastayituṃ śakyaḥ, samayapramāṇayorapravṛtteriti ||
tasmāt sarvatra viruddhadharmādhyāsasiddhireva bhedasiddhiḥ | vipratipannaṃ prati tu viruddhadharmādhyāsād bhedavyavahāraḥ sādhyate ||
nanu tathāpi sattvamidamanaikāntikamevāsādhāraṇatvāt sandigdhavyatirekitvād vā | yathā hīdaṃ kramākramanivṛttāvakṣaṇikānnivṛttaṃ tathā sāpekṣatvānapekṣatvayorekatvānekatvayorapi vyāpakayornivṛttau kṣaṇikādapi | tathā hi upasarpaṇapratyayena devadattakarapallavādinā sahacaro bījakṣaṇaḥ pūrvasmādeva puñjāt samartho jāto'napekṣa ādyātiśayasya janaka iṣyate | tatra ca samānakuśūlajanmasu bahuṣu bījasantāneṣu kasmāt kiñcideva bījaṃ paramparayā'ṅkurotpādānuguṇamupajanayati vījakṣaṇaṃ nānye bījakṣaṇā bhinnasantānāntaḥ pātinaḥ | na hi upasarpaṇapratyayāt prāgeva teṣāṃ samānāsamānasantānavartināṃ bījakṣaṇānāṃ kaścit paramparātiśayaḥ | athopasarpaṇapratyayāt prāṅ na tatsantānavartino'pi janayanti, paramparayāpyaṅkurotpādānuguṇaṃ bījakṣaṇaṃ bījamātrajananāt teṣām | kasyacideva bījakṣaṇasyopasarpaṇa pratyayasahabhuva ādyātiśayotpādaḥ | hanta tarhi tadabhāve satyutpanno'pi na janayedeva | tathā ca kevalānāṃ vyabhicārasaṃbhavādādyātiśayotpādakamaṅkuraṃ vā pratikṣityādīnāṃ parasparāpekṣāṇāmevotpādakatvamakāmenāpi svīkarttavyam | ato na tāvadanapekṣā kṣaṇikasya sambhavinī | nāpyapekṣā yujyate, samasamayakṣaṇayoḥ savyetaragoviṣāṇayorivopakāryopakārakabhāvāyogāt iti nāsiddhaḥ prathamo vyāpakābhāvaḥ | api cāntyo bījakṣaṇo'napekṣāṅkurādikaṃ kurvan yadi yenaiva rūpeṇāṅkuraṃ karoti tenaiva kṣityādikaṃ tadā kṣityādīnāmapyaṅkurasvābhāvyāpattirabhinnakāraṇatvāditi na tāvadekatvasaṃbhavaḥ ||
nanu rūpāntareṇa karoti | tathā hi bījasyāṅkuraṃ pratyupādānatvam | kṣityādikaṃ tu prati sahakāritvam | yadyevaṃ sahakāritvopādānatve kimekaṃ tattvaṃ nānā vā | ekaṃ cet kathaṃ rūpāntareṇa janakam | nānātve tvanayorbījādbhedo'bhedo vā | bhede kathaṃ bījasya janakatvaṃ tābhyāmevāṅkurādīnāmutpatteḥ | abhede vā kathaṃ bījasya na nānātvaṃ bhinnatādātmyāt, etayorvaikatvamekatādātmyāt |
yadyucyeta kṣityādau janayitavye tadupādānaṃ pūrvameva kṣityādibījasya rūpāntaramiti | na tarhi bījaṃ tadanapekṣaṃ kṣityādīnāṃ janakam | tadanapekṣatve teṣāmaṅkurādbhedānupapatteḥ | na cānupakārakāṇyapekṣanta iti tvayaivoktam | na ca kṣaṇasyopakārasaṃbhavo'nyatra jananāt, tasyābhedyatvādityanekatvamapi nāstīti dvitīyo'pi vyāpakābhāvo nāsiddhaḥ | tasmādasādhāraṇānaikāntikatvaṃ gandhavattvavaditi |
yadi manyetānupakārakā api bhavanti sahakāriṇo'pekṣaṇīyāśca kāryeṇānuvihitabhāvābhāvācca sahakaraṇācca |
nanvanena krameṇākṣaṇiko'pi bhāvo'nupakārakānapi sahakāriṇaḥ kramavataḥ kramavatkāryeṇānukṛtānvayavyatirekānapekṣiṣyate | kariṣyate ca kramavatsahakārivaśaḥ krameṇa kāryāṇīti vyāpakānupalabdherasiddheḥ sandigdhavyatirekamanaikāntikaṃ sattvaṃ kṣaṇikatva siddhāviti |
atra brūmaḥ | kīdṛśaṃ punarapekṣārthamādāya kṣaṇike sāpekṣānapekṣatvanivṛttirucyate | kiṃ sahakāriṇamapekṣata iti sahakāriṇāsyopakāraḥ karttavyaḥ | atha pūrvāvasthitasyaiva bījādeḥ sahakāriṇā saha saṃbhūyakaraṇam | yadvā pūrvāvasthitasyetyanapekṣyamilitāvasthasya karaṇamātramapekṣārthaḥ | atra prathamapakṣasyāsaṃbhavādanapekṣaiva kṣaṇikasya, kathamubhayavyāvṛttiḥ | yadyanapekṣaḥ kimityupasarpaṇapratyayābhāve'pi na karoti | karotyeva yadi syāt | svayamasaṃbhavī tu kathaṃ karotu | atha tadvā tādṛgvā'sīditi na kaścidviśeṣaḥ |
tatastādṛksvabhāvasaṃbhave'yakaraṇaṃ sahakāriṇi nirapekṣatāṃ na kṣamata iti cet | asaṃbaddhametat, varṇasaṃsthānasāmye'pyakartṛṃstatsvabhāvatāyā virahāt | sa cādyātiśayajanakatvalakṣaṇaḥ svabhāvaviśeṣo na samānāsamānasantānavartiṣu bījakṣaṇeṣu sarveṣveva saṃbhavī | kiṃ tu keṣucideva karmakarakarapallavasahacareṣu |
nanvekatra kṣetre niṣpattilavanādipūrvakamānīyaikatra kuśūle kṣiptāni sarvāṇyeva bījāni sādhāraṇarūpāṇyeva pratīyante | tat kutastyo'yamekabījasaṃbhavī viśeṣo'nyeṣāmiti cet | ucyate | kāraṇaṃ khalu sarvatra kārye dvividham- dṛṣṭamadṛṣṭaṃ ceti sarvāstikaprasiddhametat | tataḥ pratyakṣaparokṣasahakāriapratyayasākalyamasarvavidā pratyakṣato na śakyaṃ pratipattum | tato bhavedapi kāraṇasāmagrīśaktibhedāttādṛśaḥ svabhāvabhedaḥ keṣāñcideva bījakṣaṇānāṃ yena ta eva bījakṣaṇā ādyātiśayamaṅkuraṃ vā paramparayā janayeyuḥ | nānye ca bījakṣaṇāḥ |
nanu yeṣūpasarpaṇapratyayasahacareṣu svakāraṇaśaktibhedādādyātiśayajanakatvalakṣaṇo viśeṣaḥ saṃbhāvyate sa tatrāvaśyamastīti kuto labhyamiti cet | aṅkurotpādādanumitādādyātiśayalakṣaṇāt kāryāditi brūmaḥ | kāraṇānupalabdhestarhi tadabhāva eva bhaviṣyatīti cet | na | dṛśyādṛśyasamudāyasya kāraṇasyādarśane'pyabhāvāsiddheḥ kāraṇānupalabdheḥ sandigdhāsiddhatvāt | tadayamarthaḥ
pāṇisparśavataḥ kṣaṇasya na bhidā bhinnānyakālakṣaṇād
bhedo veti matadvaye mitibalaṃ yasyāstvasau jitvaraḥ |
tatraikasya balaṃ nimittavirahaḥ kāryāṅgamanyasya vā
sāmagrī tu na sarvathekṣaṇasahā kāryaṃ tu mānānugam || iti ||
tadevaṃ nopakāro'pekṣārtha ityanapekṣaiva kṣaṇikasya sahakāriṣu nobhayavyāvṛtiḥ ||
atha saṃbhūyakaraṇamapekṣārthaḥ, tadā yadi pūrvasthitasyeti viśeṣaṇāpekṣā tadā kṣaṇikasya naivaṃ kadācidityanapekṣaivākṣīṇā |
atha pūrvasthitasyetyanapekṣya militāvasthitasyaiva karaṇamapekṣārthastadā sāpekṣataiva, nānapekṣā | tathā ca nobhayavyāvṛttirityasiddhaḥ prathamo vyāpakānupalambhaḥ | tathaikatvānekatvayorapi vyāpakayoḥ kṣaṇikād vyāvṛttirasiddhā | tattadvyāvṛttibhedamāśrityopādānatvādikālpanikasvabhāvabhede'pi paramārthata ekenaiva svarūpeṇānekakāryaniṣpādanādubhayavyāvṛtterabhāvāt |
yacca bījasyaikenaiva svabhāvena kārakatve kṣityādīnāmaṅkurasvābhāvyāpattiranyathā kāraṇābhede'pi kāryabhede'pi kāryasyāhetukatvaprasaṅgādityuktam tadasaṅgatam | kāraṇaikatvasya kāryabhedasya ca paṭunendriyapratyakṣeṇa prasādhanāt | ekakāraṇajanyatvaikatvayorvyāpteḥ pratihatatvāt | prasaṅgasyānupadatvāt |
yacca kāraṇābhede kāryābheda ityuktaṃ tatra sāmagrīsvarūpaṃ kāraṇamabhipretam | sāmagrīsajātīyatve na kāryavijātīyatetyarthaḥ | na punaḥ sāmagrīmadhyagatenaikenānekaṃ kāryaṃ na kartavyaṃ nāma, ekasmādanekotpatteḥ pratyakṣasiddhatvāt | na caivaṃ pratyabhijñānāt kālabhede'pyabhedasiddhirityuktaprāyam | na cendriyapratyakṣaṃ bhinnadeśaṃ sapratighaṃ dṛśyamarthadvayamekamevopalambhayatīti kvacidupalabdham yena tatrāpi bhede śaṅkā syāt | śaṅkāyāṃ vā paṭupratyakṣasyāpyapalāpe sarvapramāṇocchedaprasaṅgāditi |
nāpi sattvahetoḥ sandigdhavyatirekitvam, kṣityāderdravyāntarasya bījasvabhāvatvenāsmābhirasvīkṛtatvāt | anupakāriṇyapekṣāyāḥ pratyākhyātatvāt vyāpakānupalambhasyāsiddhatvāyogāt |
tadetau dvāvapi vyāpakānupalambhāvasiddhau na kṣaṇikāt sattvaṃ nivartayata iti nāyamasādhāraṇo hetuḥ ||
api ca vidyamāno bhāvaḥ sādhyetarayoraniścitānvayavyatireko gandhavattādivadasādhāraṇo yuktaḥ | prakṛtavyāpakānupalambhācca sarvathā'rthakriyaivāsatī ubhābhyāṃ vādibhyāmubhayasmādvinivartitatvena nirāśrayatvāt |
tat kathamasādhāraṇānaikāntiko bhaviṣyatītyalaṃ pralāpini nirbandhena |
tadevaṃ śaktasya kṣepāyogāt samarthavyavahāragocaratvaṃ jananena vyāptamiti prasaṅgaviparyayayoḥ satve hetorapi nānaikāntikatvam | ataḥ kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhiritisthitam ||
iti sādharmyadṛṣṭānte'nvayarūpavyāptyā
kṣaṇabhaṅgasiddhiḥ samāptā ||
kṛtiriyaṃ mahāpaṇḍitaratnakīrtipādānāmiti ||
