bhāvanākramastṛtīyaḥ
mahāyānasūtrāntanayapravṛttānāṃ saṃkṣepato bhāvanākramaḥ kathyate| tatra yadyapi bodhisattvānāmaparimito'pramāṇādibhedene bhagavatā samadhirupadiṣṭaḥ, tathāpi śamathavipaśyanābhyāṃ sarve samādhayo vyāptā iti| sa eva śamathavipaśyanāyuganaddhavāhī mārgastāvat kathyate| uktaṃ ca bhagavatā-
nimittabandhanāj janturatho doṣṭhulabandhanāt|
vipaśyanāṃ bhāvayitvā śamathaṃ ca vimucyate|| iti|
tasmāt sakalāvaraṇa-prahāṇārthina śamathavipaśyane sevanīye| śamathabalena svālambane cittam aprakampyaṃ bhavati nivātasthitapradīpavat| vipaśyanayā yathāvad dharmatattvāvagamāt samyagjñānālokaḥ samutpadyate, tataḥ sakalam āvaraṇaṃ prahīyate, andhakāravad ālokodayāt|
ata eva bhagavatā catvāryālambanavastūni yogināṃ nirdiṣṭāni| nirvikalpapratibimbakam, savikalpapratibimbakam, vastuparyantatā, kāryapariniṣpattiśca| tatra śamathena yat sarvadharmapratibimbakaṃ buddhādirūpaṃ cādhimucyālambyate tena nirvikalpapratibimbakam ucyate| tatra bhūtārthanirūpaṇāvikalpābhāvān nirvikalpakam ucyate| yathāśrutodgṛhītānāñca dharmāṇāṃ pratibimbakam adhimucyālambyata iti kṛtvā pratibimbakam ucyate| tad eva pratibimbakaṃ yadā vipaśyanayā vicārayati yogī tattvādhigamārthaṃ tadā savikalpapratibimbakam ucyate, tattvanirūpaṇavikalpasya vipaśyanālakṣaṇasya tatra samudbhavāt| tasyaiva ca pratibimbasya svabhāvaṃ nirūpayan yogī darpaṇāntargatasvamukha-pratibimbapratyavekṣaṇena svamukhagatavairūpyāṇāṃ viniścayavat, sarvadharmāṇāṃ yathāvat svabhāvāvagamāt| yadā vastu paryantatālakṣaṇāṃ tathatāṃ pratibidhyati, tadā vastuparyantatāvagamāt prathamāyāṃ bhūmau vastuparyantatālambanam ucyate| tato bhāvanāmārgeṇa pariśiṣṭāsu bhūmiṣvoṣadhirasāyanopayogād iva krameṇa viśuddhataratamakṣaṇodayād āśrayaparāvṛttau satyām, āvaraṇa-prahāṇalakṣaṇa-kāryaparisamāptiryadā bhavati tadā buddhabhūmau tad eva jñānaṃ kāryapariniṣpattyālambanam ucyate|
tad evam anena kiṃ darśitaṃ bhavati ? śamathavipaśyanābhyāṃ samastavastuparyantatādhigamo bhavati| tena cāvaraṇaprahāṇalakṣaṇā kāryapariniṣpattiravāpyate| tad eva ca buddhatvam| ato buddhatvādhigamārthinā śamathavipaśyane sevanīye| yastu te na sevate tasya naiva vastuparyantatādhigamo nāpi kāryapariniṣpattiriti| tatra śamathaścittaikāgratā| vipaśyanā bhūtapratyavekṣeti saṃkṣepād āryaratnameghādau bhagavatā śamathavipaśyanayorlakṣaṇam uktam| tatra yoginā śīlaviśuddhayādau śamathavipaśyanāsaṃbhāre sthitena sarvasattveṣu mahākaruṇām utpādya, samutpādita-bodhicittena śrutacintābhāvanāyāṃ prayoktavyam|
tatra prathamaṃ tāvad yogī bhāvanā-kāle sarvam itikaraṇiyaṃ parisamāpya kṛtamūtrapurīṣaḥ kaṇṭaka-svarādirahite mano'nukūle pradeśe sthitvā mayā sarvasattvā bodhimaṇḍe niṣpādayitavyā iti viniścayan, sakalajagadabhyuddharaṇāśayo mahākaruṇām āmukhīkṛtya, daśadigavasthitān sarvabuddhabodhisattvān pañcāṅgena praṇipatyāgrato buddhabodhisattvān pīṭhādau sthāpayitvā anyatra vā yathāvat tebhyaśca yathāruci pūjāstavanaṃ kṛtvā svapāpaṃ pradeśya, sakalasdya jagataḥ puṇyam anumodya, mṛdutarasukhāsane vairocanabhaṭṭārakabaddhaparyaṅkeṇa ardhaparyeṅkeṇa vā niṣadya nātyunmīlite nātinimīlite nāsikāgravinyaste cakṣuṣī kṛtvā, nātinamraṃ nātistabdham ṛjukāyaṃ praṇidhāyāntarmukhāvarjitasmṛtirupaviśet| tataḥ skandhau samau sthāpayet| śiro nonnataṃ nāvanatam ekapārśve niścalaṃ sthāpayitavyam| kiṃ tarhi nābhipraguṇā nāsikā sthāpayitavyā| dantoṣṭhaṃ mṛdu sthāpanīyam| jivhā copari dantamūle sthāpanīyā| āśvāsapraśvāsāstu na saśabdā nāpi śthūlā nāpi tvaritāḥ karaṇīyāḥ| kiṃ tvasaṃlakṣayamāṇāṃ mandaṃ mandamanābhogena yathā praviśeyurnirgaccheyurvā tathā karaṇiyam|
tatra prathamaṃ tāvad yogī yathādṛṣṭaśrute tathāgatavigrahe cittaṃ sthāpayitvā śamathaṃ niṣpādayet| tañca tathāgatavigraham uttaptakanakāvadātaṃ lakṣaṇānuvyañjanālaṃkṛtaṃ parṣanmaṇḍalamadhyagataṃ nānāvidhairupāyaiḥ sattvārthaṃ kurvantaṃ prābandhikena manasikāreṇa tadguṇābhilāṣaṃ samupādāya layauddhatyādīn vyupaśamayya tāvad dhyāyed yāvat sphuṭataraṃ puro'vasthitamiva taṃ paśyet| tataḥ tasya tathāgatavigrahapratibimbakasyāgatigatiṃ nirūpayato vipaśyanāṃ bhāvayati| tataścaivaṃvidhaṃ vicintayet| yathedaṃ tathāgatavigrahapratibimbakaṃ na kutaścid āgataṃ nāpi kvacid gamiṣyati tiṣṭhadapi svabhāvaśūnyam ātmātmīyarahitaṃ tathā eva sarvadharmāḥ svabhāvaśūnyā āgatigatirahitāḥ pratibimbopamāḥ, bhāvādirūparahitā iti vicāryoparatavicāreṇa nirjalpaikarase manasā tattvaṃ bhāvayan yāvadicchaṃ tiṣṭhet| ayaṃ ca samādhiḥ pratyutpannabuddhasaṃmukhāvasthitasamādhirnirdiṣṭaḥ| asya cānuśaṃsā vistaratastatraiva sutre bodhayitavyā|
etāvatā prakāreṇa sarvadharmasaṃgraho bhavati, tatra cittam upanibadhya layauddhatyādipraśamena śamathaṃ niṣpādayet| rūpyarūpibhedena ca saṃkṣepāt sarvadharmasaṃgrahaḥ| tatra rūpaskandhasaṃgṛhītā rūpiṇaḥ| vedanādiskandhasvabhāvā arūpiṇaḥ| tatra bālā bhāvādigrahābhiniveśād viparyastadhiyaḥ saṃsāre paribhramanti| teṣāṃ viparyāsāpanayanāya, teṣu ca mahākaruṇām āmukhīkṛtya, niṣpannaśamatho yogī tattvādhigamāya tato vipaśyanāṃ bhāvayet| bhūtapratyavekṣaṇā ca vipaśyanocyate| bhutaṃ punaḥ pudgaladharmanairātmyam|
tatra pudgalanairātmyaṃ yā skandhānāmātmātmīyarahitatā| dharmanairātmyaṃ yā teṣāmeva māyopamatā| tatraivaṃ yogī nirūpayet| na tāvad rūpādivyatiriktaḥ pudgalo'sti| tasyā pratibhāsanāt| rūpādiṣvevāhamiti pratyayotpattiśca| na cāpi rūpādiskandhasvabhāvaḥ pudgalaḥ| teṣāṃ rūpādīnāmanityānekasvabhāvatvāt| pudgalasya ca nityaikarūpeṇa parairupakalpitatvāt| nāpi tattvānyatvābhyām anabhilāpyapudgalasya vastutvaṃ yuktam| vastusataḥ prakārāntarābhāvāt| tasmād alīkavibhrama evāyaṃ lokasya yadutāhaṃ mameti niścayaṃ pratipannasya| tato rūpiṇo'pi dharmān dharmanairātmyādhigamāya vicārayet-kim ete cittavyatirekeṇa paramārthasantaḥ sthitāḥ āhosviccittameva rūpādinirbhāsaṃ svapnāvasthāyāṃ pratibhāsavat pratibhāsata iti| sa tān paramāṇuśo nirūpayan, paramāṇūṃśca bhāgaśaḥ pratyavekṣamāṇo nopalabhate| tathā cānupalabhamānasteṣu astināstitvavikalpān nivartayati|
cittamātrañca traidhātukam avatarati nānyathā| atha coktaṃ laṅkāvatāre-
aṇuśo vibhajati dravyaṃ na caiva rūpaṃ vikalpayet|
cittamātravyavasthānaṃ kudṛṣṭyā na prasīdati||iti|
tasyaivaṃ bhavati cittamevānādikālikavitatharūpādyabhiniveśavaśāt svapnopalabhyamānarūpādipratibhāsavad bālānāṃ bahiḥ vicchinnamiva rūpādipratibhāsaṃ khyāti| tasmāccittamātrameva traidhātukam| sa evaṃ cittameva sakaladharmaprajñaptiṃ niścitya tatra pratyavekṣya ca sarvadharmāṇāṃ svabhāvaḥ pratyavekṣito bhavatīti cittasvabhāvamapi pratyavekṣate| sa evaṃ vicārayati, cittamapi paramārthato māyāvad anutpannam| yada hi alīkasvabhāvarūpādyākāropagraheṇa cittameva citrākāraṃ pratibhāsate, tadā'syāpi rūpādivat tadavyatirekāt satyatvaṃ kutra bhavet ? yathā citrākāratayā rūpādayo naikānekasvabhāvāstathā cittamapi tadavyatirekeṇa naikānekasvabhāvam| nāpi cittamutpādyamānaṃ kutaścid āgacchati| nāpi nirudhyayānaṃ kvacid gacchati| nāpi svaparobhayataḥ paramārthenāsyotpādo yuktaḥ| tasmān māyopamameva cittam| yathā cittamevaṃ sarvadharmā māyāvat paramārthato'nutpannāḥ|
yenāpi cittena pratyavekṣate yogī tasyāpi svabhāvaṃ parīkṣamāṇo nopalabhate| tad evaṃ yatra yatrālambane yoginaścittaṃ prasaret tasya tasya svabhāvaṃ parīkṣamāṇo [tat svabhāvamapi nopalabhate] 'sau yada nopalabhate tadā sarvameva vastu vicārya kadalīskandhavad asāramavagamya, tataścittaṃ vivartayati| tato bhāvādivikalpoparatau sarvaprapañcavigatam ānimittaṃ yogaṃ pratilabhate| tathā coktam āryaratnameghe-"sa evam apakṣālakuśalaḥ sarvaprapañcavigamāya śūnyatābhāvanāyā yogamāpadyate| sa śūnyatābhāvanābahulo yeṣu yeṣu sthāneṣu cittaṃ prasarati cittamabhiramate tāni tāni sthānāni svabhāvataḥ parigaveṣamāṇaḥ śūnyaṃ pratividhyati [yat cittaṃ tadapi parīkṣamāṇaṃ śūnyaṃ pratividhyati] yenāpi cittena parīkṣate tad api svabhāvataḥ parigaveṣyamāṇaṃ śūnyaṃ pratividhyati| sa evam upaparīkṣamāṇo nirnimittatāyāṃ yogamāpadyate|" tad eva anenaivaṃ darśitaṃ bhavati| yastu nopaparīkṣate tasya nāsti nirnimittatāyāṃ praveśa iti|
sa evaṃ dharmāṇāṃ svabhāvamupaparīkṣamāṇo yada nopalabhate, tadāstīti na vikalpayati nāstīti na vikalpayati| yo'sau nāstīti kalpyate tasya buddhau sarvadaivāpratibhāsanāt| yadi hi bhāvaḥ kadācid dṛṣṭo bhavet, tadā tasya pratiṣedhān nāstīti kalpayet| yadā kālatraye'pi yoginā prajñayā nirūpayatā bhāvo nopalabdhaḥ tadā kasya pratiṣedhān nāstīti kalpayet| evamanye vikalpāstasya tadānīṃ na santi eva, bhāvābhāvavikalpābhyāṃ sarvasya vikalpasya vyāptatvāt| evaṃ vyāpakābhāvād byāpyasyāpyabhāvaḥ| evaṃ sati niṣprapañcanirvikalpatāmavatīrṇo bhavati, rūpādiṣu cāniśrito bhavati| prajñayā ca nirūpayataḥ sakalavastusvabhāvānupalambhāt prajñottaradhyāyī bhavati| sa evaṃ pudgaladharmanairātmyamayaṃ tattvamavatīrṇaḥ, aparasya parīkṣaṇīyasya cābhāvād, uparatavicāreṇa nirvikalpaikarasena manasā svarasavāhinā, anabhisaṃskārataḥ tad eva tattvaṃ sphuṭataram avadhārayan yogī tiṣṭheta| tatra ca sthitaścittabandhaṃ na vikṣipet|
yadāntarā cittaṃ bahirdhā vikṣiptaṃ paśyet tadā tatsvabhāvapratyevekṣaṇena vikṣepaṃ praśamayya, punastatraiva cittamuparyupari prerayet| yadā tu tatrānabhirataṃ cittaṃ paśyet, tadā samādherguṇadarśanād abhiratiṃ tatra thāvayet| vikṣepe ca doṣadarśanād aratiṃ praśamayet| atha styānamiddhābhibhavād yada pracāratayā līnaṃ cittaṃ paśyet, layābhiśaṅkitaṃ vā tadā pramodyavastu buddharūpādikamālokasaṃjñāṃ vā manasikṛtya layamupaśamayet, tatastad eva tattvaṃ dṛḍhataraṃ gṛṇhīyāt| yadā tu jātyandhavad andhakārapraviṣṭapuruṣavad vinimīlitākṣavat sphuṭataraṃ tattvaṃ nāvadhārayed yogī, tadā tasya līnaṃ cittaṃ veditavyaṃ vipaśyanārahitaṃ ca| atha yathā pūrvānubhūtaviṣayaspṛhayā cittamantarā samuddhataṃ paśyed, auddhatyābhiśaṅkitaṃ vā, tadānityatādi saṃvegavastumanasikārād auddhatyaṃ śamayet| tataḥ punaḥ tatraiva tattve cittānabhisaṃskāravāhitāyāṃ yatnaṃ kurvīta| yadā ca vikṣiptapuruṣavad vānaravad vā'navasthitavṛtti cittaṃ bhavet, tad auddhatyaṃ boddhavyaṃ śamatharahitaṃ ca| atha yadā layauddhatyābhyāṃ viviktatayā samapravṛttaṃ svarasavāhi sphuṭataraṃ tatraiva tattve cittam utpādyate tadābhogaśithilīkaraṇād upekṣaṇiyam| tadā ca śamathavipaśyanāyuganaddhavāhī mārgoniṣpanno veditavyaḥ|
yadā ca vipaśyanā bhāvayet prajñātiriktatarā bhāvayet, tadā śamathasyālpatvāt pravātasthitapradipavat pracalatvāccittasya na sphuṭataraṃ tattvadarśanaṃ bhavet| atastadā śamatho bhāvayitavyaḥ| śamathasyābhyādhikye middhāvaṣṭabadhapuruṣasyeva sphuṭataraṃ tattvadarśanaṃ na syāt| tasmāt tadā prajñā bhāvayitavyā| yadā samapravṛtte dve api bhavato yuganaddhavāhibalīvardadvayavat tadānabhisaṃskāreṇaiva tāvat sthātavyaṃ yāvat kāyacittapīḍā na bhavet|
saṃkṣepataḥ sarvasyaiva samādheḥ ṣaḍ doṣā bhavanti| kausīdyam, ālambanasaṃpramoṣaḥ, layaḥ, auddhatyam, anābhogaḥ, ābhogaśceti| eṣāṃ pratipakṣeṇāṣṭau prahāṇasaṃskārā bhāvanīyāḥ| śraddhā, chandaḥ, vyāyāmaḥ, prasrabdhiḥ, smṛtiḥ, saṃprajanyam, cetanā, upekṣā ceti| tatrādyāścatvāraḥ kausīdyapratipakṣāḥ| tathāhi-samādhiguṇeṣvabhisaṃpratyayalakṣaṇayā śraddhayā yogino'bhilāṣaḥ samutpadyate| tato'bhilāṣavān vīryamārabhate| tato vīryārambhaṇāt kāyacittayoḥ karmaṇyatāṃ bhāvayati| tataḥ prasrabdhakāyacetasaḥ kausīdyaṃ vyāvartate| tataḥ [śraddhādayaḥ kausīdyaprahāṇāya bhavanti] tadartha te bhāvanīyāḥ| smṛtirālambana-saṃpramoṣasya pratipakṣaḥ| saṃprajanyaṃ layauddhatyayoḥ pratipakṣaḥ| tayostena samupekṣya parivarjanāt| layauddhatyāpraśamanakāle tu anābhogadoṣaḥ tatastatpratipakṣeṇa cetanā bhāvanīyā| layauddhatyapraśame sati, yadā praśamabāhi cittaṃ bhavet, tadābhogadoṣaḥ| tasya pratipakṣastadānīm upekṣā bhāvanīyā| yadi samapravṛtte citte ābhogaḥ kriyate, tadā cittaṃ vikṣipyate| līne'pi citte sati yadyābhogo na kriyate, tadā vipaśyanārahitatvād, andhapuruṣavaccittaṃ līnaṃ syāt| tasmāt līnacittaṃ nigṛṇhīyād, uddhataṃ praśamayet, punaḥ samāprāptam upekṣeta|
tato yāvadiccha yogī tāvad anabhisaṃskāreṇaiva tattvaṃ bhāvayaṃstiṣṭhet| satyāṃ tu kāyādipīḍāyāṃ punaḥ punarantarā sakalameva lokaṃ vyavalokyamāyājala candropamapratibhāsaṃ [vata] avataret| tatha coktam avikalpapraveśe-lokottareṇa jñānenākāśasamatalān sarvadharmānpaśyati| pṛṣṭhalabdhena punarmāyāmarīcisvapno dakacandropamān paśyatīti| tad evaṃ māyopamaṃ jagad avagamya, sattveṣu mahākaruṇām āmukhīkṛtyaivam anuvicintayet| evaṃvidhaṃ dharmagāmbhoryam anavagacchanto'mī bālabuddhaya ādiśānteṣveva dharmeṣu bhāvādisamāropaviparyastā vividhakarmakleśān upacinvanti| tataḥ saṃsāre paribhramanti, tato'haṃ kariṣyāmi yathaitān evaṃvidhaṃ dharmāgāmbhīryam avabodhayeyam iti, tato viśramya punarapi tathaiva sarvadharmanirābhāsaṃ samādhimavataret| cittakhede sati, tathaiva viśramya punaravataret| evam anena krameṇa ghaṭikām [arthapraharam] ekapraharaṃ vā yāvantaṃ kālaṃ śaknoti tāvantaṃ kālaṃ tiṣṭhet|
tata icchayā samādheḥ utthātuṃ paryaṅkam abhittvaivam anuvicintayet| yadi nāmāmī dharmāḥ sarva eva paramārthato'nutpannāstathāpi māyavat pratiniyatavividhahetupratyayasāmagrīvaśena vicitrā evāvicāraramaṇīyāḥ pravartante, tena nocchedadṛṣṭiprasaṅgaḥ| nāpyapavādāntasya, yataśca prajñayā vicāryamāṇā nopalabhyante, tena na śāśvatadṛṣṭiprasaṅgo nāpi samāropāntasya| tatra ye prajñācakṣurvikalatayā viparyastamatayā ātmābhiniviṣṭā vividhāni karmāṇi kurvanti te saṃsāre paribhramanti| ye punarekāntena saṃsāravimukhā mahākāruṇyavikalatayā ca na [sattvārthaṃ] dānādipāramitāḥ paripūrayanti ātmānaṃ damayanti te sattvā upāyavikalatayā śrāvakapratyekabuddhabodhau patanti|
ye tu asvabhāvaṃ jagad avagamya mahākāruṇyabalena sakalajagadabhyuddharaṇakṛtaniścayā māyākāravad aviparyastadhiyo vipulapuṇyajñānasaṃbhāraṃ samupāyanti te tathāgataṃ padaṃ prāpyāsaṃsāramaśeṣasya jagataḥ sarvākāraṃ hitasukhāni saṃpādayantaḥ tiṣṭhanti| te ca jñāna [sambhāra] balena [samasta] kleśaprahāṇān na saṃsāre patanti sarvasattvāpekṣayā ca samupārjitavipulāprameyapuṇyasaṃbhāravaśena na nirvāṇe patanti, sarvasattvopajīvyāśca bhavanti| tasmān mayā sakalasattvahitasukhādhānārthinā'pratiṣṭhitanirvāṇam adhigantukāmena vipulapuṇyajñāna-saṃbhāropārjane'bhiyogaḥ [sadā] karaṇiyaḥ| tathā coktam āryatathāgataguhyasutre-"jñānasambhāraḥ sarvakleśaprahāṇāya saṃvartate| puṇyasambhāraḥ sarvasattvopajīvitāyai saṃvartate| tasmāt tarhi bhagavan bodhisattvena mahāsattvena puṇyasambhāre jñānasaṃbhāre ca sarvadā'bhiyogaḥ karaṇīyaḥ" iti| āryatathāgatotpattisaṃbhasūtre coktam-"sa khalu punareṣa tathāgatānāṃ saṃbhavo naikena kāraṇena bhavati| tat kasya hetoḥ ? samudāgataistāvad bho jinaputrāprameyaśatasahasradaśakāraṇaistathāgatāḥ samudāgacchanti| katamairdaśabhiryadutāprameyapuṇyajñānasambhārātṛptisamudāgamakāraṇeneti" vistara| āryavimalakīrtinirdeśe coktam-"śatapuṇyanirjātāḥ sarvakuśaladharmanirjātā apramāṇakuśalamūlakarmanirjātāḥ kāyāstathāgatasyeti" vistaraḥ|
tad evaṃ kṛtvā śanaiḥ paryaṅkaṃ bhittvā daśadigvyavasthitān sarvabuddhabodhisattvān praṇipatya tebhyaśca pūjāstotropahāraṃ kṛtvāryabhadracaryādipraṇidhānaṃ pranidadhīta| tataḥ śūnyatākaruṇāgarbhānuttarasaṃbodhipariṇāmitasakaladānādipuṇyasaṃbhāropārjanābhiyukto bhavet|
yastu manyate, cittavikalpasamutthāpitaśubhāśubhakarmavaśena sattvāḥ svargādikarma phalamanubhavantaḥ saṃsāre saṃsaranti| ye punarna kiñciccintayanti nāpi kiñcit karma kurvanti te parimucyante saṃsārāt| tasmānna kiñciccintayitavyam| nāpi dānādikuśalacaryā kartavyā| kevalaṃ mūrkhajanamadhikṛtya dānādikuśalacaryā nirdiṣṭeti| tena sakalamahāyānaṃ pratikṣiptaṃ bhavet| mahāyānamūlatvācca sarvayānānāṃ tatpratikṣepeṇa sarvam eva yānaṃ pratikṣiptaṃ syāt| tathā hi 'na kiñciccintayitavyamiti' bruvata bhutapratyavekṣālakṣaṇā prajñā pratikṣiptā bhavet| bhūtapratyavekṣā-mūlatvāt samyagjñānasya tatpratikṣepā llokottarāpi prajñā pratikṣiptā bhavet| tatpratikṣepāt sarvākārajñatā pratikṣiptā bhavet| nāpi dānādicaryā kartavyeti vadatā copāyo dānādiḥ sphuṭatarameva pratikṣiptaḥ|
etāvad eva ca saṃkṣiptaṃ mahāyānaṃ yaduta prajñopāyaśca| yathoktam āryagayāśīrṣe-"dvāvimau bodhisattvānāṃ saṃkṣiptau mārgau| katamau dvau ? yaduta prajñā copāyaśca| " āryatathāgataguhyasūtre coktam-"imau ca prajñopāyau bodhisattvānāṃ sarvapāramitāsaṃgrahāya saṃvartete" iti| tataśca mahāyānaṃ pratikṣipatā mahat karmāvaraṇaṃ kṛtaṃ syāt| tasmād [mahāyānaṃ pratikṣipataḥ, alpaśrutasya, ātmadṛṣṭiṃ parāmṛśataḥ,] asyānupāsitavidvajjanasyānavadhārita-tathāgata-pravacananīteḥ svayaṃ vinaṣṭasya parān api nāśayato yuktyāgamadūṣitatvāt, viṣasaṃsṛṣṭavacanaṃ saviṣabhojanamiva ātmakāmena dhīmatā dūrata eva parihartavyam|
tathā hyanena bhūtapratyavekṣāṃ pratikṣipatā dharmapravicayākhyaṃ pradhānam eva bodhyaṅgaṃ pratikṣiptaṃ syāt| vinā ca mūtapratyavekṣayā yoginaḥ katham anādikālābhyastarūpādibhāvābhiniveśasya cittaṃ nirvikalpatāṃ praviśet ? sarvadharmeṣvasmṛtyamanasikāreṇa praviśatīti cet, tad ayuktam| na hi vinā bhūtapratyavekṣayānubhūyamāneṣvapi sarvadharmeṣvasmṛtiramanasikāro vā śakyate kartum| yadi ca nāmāmī dharmā mayā'smartavyā nāpi manasikartavyā ityevaṃ bhāvayannasmṛtimanasikārau teṣu bhāvayet tadā sutarām eva tena te smṛtā manasikṛtāśca syuḥ| atha smṛtimanasikārābhāvamātram asmṛtyamanasikārāvabhipretau, tadā tayorabhāvaḥ kena prakāreṇa bhavatīti etad eva vicāryate| na cābhāvaḥ kāraṇaṃ yuktam, yena tato [nirnimittāmanasikārāt] nirvikalpatā bhavet| [tanmātrato'vikalpatāyāṃ] saṃmurcchitasyāpi smṛtimanasikārābhāvān nirvikalpatāpraveśaprasaṅgaḥ| na ca bhūtapratyavekṣāṃ vinā'nya upāyo'sti yena prakāreṇāsmṛtyamanasikārau kuryāt|
satyapi cāsmṛtyamanasikārasambhave, vinā bhūtapratyavekṣayā niḥsvabhāvatā dharmāṇāṃ katham avagatā bhavet ? na hi svabhāvata evaṃ dharmāḥ śūnyāḥ sthitā ityevaṃ vinā tatpratyavekṣayā tacchūnyatāprativedho bhavet| nāpi vinā śūnyatāprativedhena āvaraṇaprahāṇaṃ saṃbhavati sarvatra sarveṣāṃ muktiprasaṅgāt|
kiṃ ca tasya yogino yadi sarvadharmeṣu muṣitasmṛtitayā mūḍhatayā vā smṛtimanasikārau na pravartete, tadā'tyantamūḍhaḥ katham asau yogī bhavet| vinā ca bhūtapratyavekṣayā tatrāsmṛtim amanasikāraṃ cābhyastatā moha evābhyasto bhavet| tata eva samyagjñānāloko dūrīkṛtaḥ syāt| athāsau na muṣitasmṛtirnāpi mūḍhaḥ, tadā kathaṃ tatrāsmaraṇam amanasikāraṃ kartu śaknuyād vinā bhūtapratyavekṣayā| na hi smaranneva na smarati, paśyan eva na paśyatīti yuktam abhidhātum| asmṛtyamanasikārābhyāsācca kathaṃ pūrvanivāsānusmṛtyādi-buddhadharmodayo bhavet, virodhāt, na hyuṣṇaviruddhaṃ śītam āsevamānasya uṣṇasparśasaṃvedanaṃ bhavet|
kiṃ ca samādhisamāpannasya yogino yadi manovijñānam asti, tadā'vaśyaṃ tena kiṃcid ālambayitavyam| na hi pṛthagjanānāṃ sahasā nirālambanaṃ jñānaṃ bhavet| atha nāsti, tadā kathaṃ niḥsvabhāvatā dharmāṇāmavagatā bhavet ? kena ca pratipakṣeṇa kleśāvaraṇaṃ prahīyate ? na ca caturthadhyānālābhinaḥ pṛthagjanasya cittanirodhaḥ saṃbhavati| tasmāt saddharme yāvasmṛtyamanasikārau paṭhitau tau bhūtapratyavekṣāpūrvākau draṣṭavyau| asmād bhūtapratyavekṣayā'smṛtirmanasikāraśca śakyate kartum, nānyathā| tathā hi yadā nirūpayan samyakprajñayā yogī kālatraye paramārthataḥ samutpannaṃ na kaṃcid dharma paśyati, tadā tatra kathaṃ smṛtimanasikārau kuryāt| yo hi kālatraye'pyasattvān nānubhūtaḥ paramārthataḥ sa kathaṃ smaryeta, manasi vā kriyeta| tato'sau sarvaprapañcopaśamaṃ nirvikalpaṃ jñānaṃ praviṣṭo bhavet| tatpraveśācca śūnyatāṃ pratividhyati tatprativedhācca prahīṇasakalakudṛṣṭijālo bhavati|
upāyayuktaḥ prajñāsevanataśca samyak saṃvṛtiparamārthasatyakuśalo bhavati| ato'nāvaraṇajñānalābhāt sarvān eva buddhadharmān adhigacchati| tasmānna vinā bhūtapratyavekṣayā samyagjñānodayo nāpi kleśāvaraṇaprahāṇām| tathā coktaṃ mañjuśrīvikurvitasūtre-"kathaṃ dārike bodhisattvo vijitasaṃgrāmo bhavati? āha, yo mañjuśrīḥ vicāya vicāya sarvadharmān nopalabhate" iti| tasmād visphāritajñānacakṣuḥ prajñāśastreṇa kleśārīn nirjitya, nirbhayo viharan yogī, na tu kātarapuruṣa iva vinimīlitākṣaḥ| āryasamādhirāje'pyuktam-
nairātmyadharmān yadi pratyevekṣate
tān pratyavekṣya yadi bhāvayet|
sa hetu nirvāṇapahalasya prāptaye
yo'nyaheturna sa bhoti śāntaye||iti|
sutrasamuccaye coktam-"ātmanā vipaśyanāyogam anuyukto viharati parāṃśca vipaśyanāyāṃ nābhiyojayatīti mārakarmeti|" vipaśyanā ca bhūtapratyavekṣāsvabhāvā āryaratnamegha-sandhinirmocanādau, āryaratnameghe ca-"vipaśyanāṃ nirūpayato niḥsvabhāvatāprativedhad animittapraveśa uktaḥ|" āryalaṅkāvatāre coktam-"yasmāt, mahāmate, buddhayā vicāryamāṇānāṃ svasāmānyalakṣaṇaṃ bhāvānāṃ nāvadhāryate| tenocyante niḥsvabhāvāḥ sarvadharmāḥ" iti| tatra tatra sūtre yā bhagavatā nānāprakārā pratyavekṣā nirdiṣṭā sā virudhyate, yadi bhūtapratyavekṣā na kartavyā| tasmād evaṃ yuktaṃ vaktuṃ vayam alpaprajñā alpavīryāścana śaknumo bāhuśrutyaṃ paryeṣitumiti| na hi tatpratikṣepo yukto bhagavatā bahudhā bāhuśrutyasya varṇitatvāt| tat punarbrahmaparipṛcchāyām uktam-"ye tvacintyeṣu dharmeṣu [cintana] viprayuktāḥ teṣām ayoniśa iti| tatrāpi ye paramārthato'nutpannānāṃ dharmāṇām utpādaṃ parikalpyānityaduḥkhadirūpeṇa śrāvakādivaccintāṃ prakurvanti, teṣāṃ samāropāpavādāntena cintāṃ pravartayatām ayoniśaḥ tad bhavatīti tatpratiṣedhāya yad uktaṃ na bhūtapratyavekṣāyāḥ sa pratiṣedhaḥ tasyāḥ sarvasūtreṣvanujñānāt| tathā ca tatraiva brahmaparipṛcchāyām uktam-"cittaśūro bodhisattva āha-yaścittena sarvadharmāścintayati tatra cākṣato'nupahataḥ sa tenocyate bodhisattvaḥ" iti| tatraivoktam-"kathaṃ vīryavanto bhavanti, yada sarvajñatācittaṃ vicīyamānānopalabhante" iti| punaḥ tatraivoktam-"matimantaśca te bhaviṣyanti yoniśo dharmān pratyavekṣaṇatayeti"| punaḥ tatraivoktam-"pravicinvanti te dharmān yathā māyāmarīciketi"|
tad evaṃ yatra yatrācintyādiprapañcaḥ śrūyate, tatra tatra śrutacintāmātreṇaiva tattvādhigamaṃ ye manyante, teṣām abhimānapratiṣedhena pratyātmavedanīyatvaṃ dharmāṇāṃ pratipādayate| ayoniśaśca cittapratiṣedhaḥ kriyata iti boddhavyam, na bhūtapratyavekṣāyāḥ pratiṣedhaḥ| anyathā bahutaraṃ yuktyāgamaviruddhaṃ syāt| yathoktaṃ prāk| kiñca yad eva śrutacintāmayyā prajñayā viditaṃ tad eva bhāvanāmayyā prajñayā bhāvanīyaṃ nānyat| saṃdiṣṭa-dhāvanabhūmyaśvadhāvanavat| tasmāt bhūtapratyavekṣā kartavyā| yadi nāmāsau vikalpasvabhāvātathāpi yoniśo manasikārasvabhāvatvāt tato bhūta nirvikalpajñānodaya iti kṛtvā tajjñānārthinā sā sevanīyā| nirvikalpe ca bhutajñānāgnau samutpanne, sati, kāṣṭhadvayanigharṣasaṃjātavanhinā tatkāṣṭhadvayadāhavat sāpi paścāt tenaiva dahyata evetyuktam āryaratnakūṭe|
yaccāpyucyate-na kiṃcit kuśalādikarma kartavyam iti| tatraivaivaṃ vadatā karmakṣayān muktirityājīvaka vādābhyupagamo bhavet| na hi bhagavatpravacane karmakṣayān muktiriṣyate| kiṃ tarhi, kleśakṣayāt| anādikālopacittasya hi karmaṇo na śakyate kṣayaḥ kartu tasyānantatvāt| apāyādiṣu ca tatphalaṃ bhuñjānasyāparasyāpi karmaṇaḥ prasūteḥ kleśeṣu cāvikaleṣu tatkaraṇatayā sthiteṣu karmaṇo niroddhum aśakyatvāt| pradīpānirodhe tatprabhāyā anirodhavat| na cāpi tasya vipaśyanāpavādinaḥ kleśakṣayaḥ saṃbhavatītyukta prāk| atha kleśakṣayārtha vipaśyanā sevanīyeti manyate, tadā kleśakṣayād eva muktiḥ sidhyatīti karmakṣaye tarhi vyarthaḥ śramaḥ| akuśalakarma na kartavyam iti yuktametat, kuśalaṃ tu kimiti pratiṣidhyate| saṃsārāvāhakatvāt pratiṣidhyata iti cet, tadayuktam| yad eva ātmādiviparyāsasamutthāpitam kuśalaṃ tad eva saṃsārāvāhakaṃ bhavati| na tu bodhisattvānāṃ mahākaruṇāsamutthāpitam anuttarasaṃbodhipariṇāmitamapi| tathā āryadaśabhūmake eta eva daśakuśalakarmapathāḥ pariṇāmanādipariśuddhiviśeṣeṇa śrāvakapratyekabuddhabodhisattvabuddhatvavāhakā bhavantīti nirdiṣṭam| āryaratnakūṭe ca, sarvamahānadīnāṃ mahāsamudre praviṣṭānāṃ payaḥ skandhavad bodhisattvānāṃ nānāmukhopacitaṃ kuśalamūlaṃ sarvajñatāpariṇāmitaṃ sarvajñataikarasaṃ bhavati iti varṇitam|
yā ca buddhabodhisattvānāṃ rūpakāyakṣetrapariśuddhiḥ prabhāparivāramahābhogatādisaṃpattiḥ dānādipuṇyasambhāraphalasattvena tatra tatra sūtre varṇitā bhagavatā sāpi virudhyate| kuśalacaryāpratiṣedhe ca prātimokṣasaṃvarādirapi pratikṣiptaḥ syāt| tato vyarthameva tasya śiromuṇḍitakāṣāyadhāraṇādi prasajyeta| kuśalakarmābhisaṃskāravaimukhye ca sati saṃsāravaimukhyaṃ sattvārthakriyāvaimukhyaṃ ca sevitaṃ bhavet| tato bodhiḥ tasya dūre bhavet| uktaṃ hyāryaṃsaṃdhinirmocane-"ekāntasattvārthavimukhasya ekāntasaṃskārā bhisaṃskāravimukhasya nānuttarāsamyaksaṃbodhiruktā mayeti|" āryopāliparipṛcchādau ca-"saṃsāre vaimukhyaṃ bodhisattvānāṃ paradauḥśīlyamiti varṇitam| saṃsāraparigrahaḥ tu paramaṃ śīlam|" uktam āryavimalakīrtinirdeśe ca-"upāyād bhavati saṃsāragamanaṃ bodhisattvānāṃ mokṣaḥ| upāyarahitā ca prajñā bandhaḥ, prajñārahitaścopāyo bandhaḥ| prajñāsahita upāyo mokṣaḥ, upāyasahitā prajñā mokṣaḥ" iti varṇitam| āryagaganagañje uktam-"saṃsāraparikhedo bodhisattvānāṃ mārakarma iti|" sūtrasamuccaye ca-"asaṃskṛtaṃ ca pratyavekṣate saṃskṛtaiśca kuśalaiḥ parikhidyata iti mārakarma iti| bodhimārga prajānāti pāramitāmārga ca na paryeṣata iti mārakarmeti|" yat punaḥ tatraivoktam-"dānacittābhiniveśād yāvat prajñācittābhiniveśāṃ mārakarmeti tatra na dānādināṃ sevāpratiṣedhaḥ kiṃ tvahaṃkāramamakāracittābhiniviṣṭasya grāhyagrāhakacittābhiniviṣṭasya caupalambhikasya yo viparītābhiniveśo dānādau tasya pratiṣedhaḥ| viparītābhiniveśasamuttthāpitā hi dānādayo'pariśuddhā bhavantīti kṛtvā mārakarmetyuktam| anyathā dhyānam api na sevanīyaṃ syāt| tathā ca kathaṃ muktiḥ bhavet ?
ata evaupalambhikasya sattvanānātvasaṃjñāyā yad dānādi tad apariśuddham iti pratipādanāya āryagaganagañje'pi-"sattvanānātva [viparītakarma] saṃjñino dānādi mārakarmetyuktam"| yaccāpi [tri] skandhapariṇāmanāyām uktam-"sarvam eva dāna-śīla-kṣānti-vīrya-dhyāna-prajñāsamatām ajānatopalambhayati, tena paryeṣṭitadānena parāmṛṣṭaśīlena śīlaṃ rakṣitam| ātmaparasaṃjñinā kṣāntirbhāvitetyādi tat pratideśayāmīti|" tatrāpyaupalambhikasya nānatvasaṃjñino viparītābhiniveśasamutthāpitā dānādayo'pi śuddhā bhavantīti etāvanmātraṃ pratipāditam| na tu sarvathā dānādīnāṃ sevanapratiṣedhaḥ| anyathā sarvasyaiva dānāderaviśeṣeṇa pratideśanā kṛtā syāt, nopalambhaviparyāsapatitasyaiva| yaccāpi brahmaparipṛcchāyām uktam-"yāvatī caryā sarvā parikalpyā| niṣparikalpyā ca bodhirityādi|" tatrāpyutpādādivikalpacaryāyāḥ prakṛtatvāt tasyāḥ parikalpatvamuktam| animittavihāre cānabhisaṃskāravāhinaḥ sthitasya bodhisattvasya vyākaraṇaṃ bhavati, nānyasyetyetāvanmātraṃ pratipāditam| sarveṣāṃ ca dānādīnāṃ paramārthato'nutpannatvaṃ ca paridīpitam, na tu caryā na kartavyetyabhihitam|
anyathā hi dīpaṅkarāvadāne ye buddhā bhagavatā paryupāsitā yeṣāṃ tu kalpamapi bhagavatā bhāṣamāṇena na śakyaṃ nāmaparikīrtnaṃ kathaṃ teṣāṃ bhagavatā bodhisattvāvasthāyāṃ caryāpratiṣedho na kṛtaḥ| dīpaṅkareṇāpi tadānīṃ bhagavataścaryāpratiṣedho na kṛta eva| kiṃ tu yadā śāntānimittavihāre'ṣṭamyāṃ bhūmau sthito'sau dṛṣṭastadāsau vyākṛto bhagavatā, tatra tasya caryā apratiṣiddhā| sā cānimittavihāraparamatā bodhisattvānām aṣṭāmyāṃ bhūmau daśabhūmikairbuddhaiḥ pratiṣiddhā 'mā bhūd etad eva teṣāṃ parinirvāṇam' iti kṛtvā yadi tu sarvathā caryā na kartavyā bhavet pūrvoktaṃ sarva virudhyeta|
yacca tatraiva brahmaparipṛcchāyām uktam-“dānaṃ ca dadāti taccāvipākābhikāṅkṣī, śīlaṃ ca rakṣati taccāsamāropitaḥ" ityādi| caturbhiḥ brahma ! dharmaiḥ samanvāgatā bodhisattvā avaivarttikā bhavanti buddhadharmeṣu| katamaiścaturbhiḥ aparimitasaṃsāraparigraheṇa aparimitabuddhopasthānapūjayetyādi sarvaṃ virudhyeta| nāpi mṛdvindriyeṇaiva caryā kartavyā na tu tīkṣṇendriyeṇeti yuktaṃ vaktum| yataḥ prathamāṃ bhūmimupādāya yāvaddaśamībhūmipratiṣṭhitānāṃ bodhisattvānāṃ dānādicaryā utpadyate, na ca pariśiṣṭāsu na samudācaratīti vacanāt| nahi bhūmipraviṣṭā api mṛdvindriyāyuktāḥ| āryopaliparipṛcchāyām- "anutpattikadharmakṣāntipratiṣṭhitenaiva tyāgamahātyāgātityāgāḥ kartavyāḥ" iti varṇitam| sūtrasamuccaye ca-"ṣaṭpāramitādipratipattimān bodhisattvastathāgatarddhigatikaḥ" iti varṇitam| na ca tathāgatarddhigateranyā śīghratarā gatirasti| nāpi ṣaṭpāramitādaśabhūmivyatirekeṇānyo bodhisattvānāṃ mārgo'sti yaḥ śīghrataravāhīsyāt| krameṇaiva ca cittasaṃtateḥ kanakaśuddhivat śuddhirbhavatīti sūtre varṇitam [āryalaṅkāvatāradaśabhūmikādau coktaṃ]-tathatāyāṃ yadā sthito bodhisattvo bhavati, tadā prathamāyāṃ bhūmau praviṣṭo bhavati| tataḥ krameṇaiva pūrvabhūmīḥ pariśodhya tathāgatabhūmiṃ praviśatīti| ato nāsti bhūmipāramitāvyatirekeṇa [yugapat] buddhatvapurapraveśe anyanmukhaṃ nāpi bhagavatā kvacit sūtrādau deśitam|
dhyāna eva ṣaṭpāramitāntargamāt tatsevanād eva sarvapāramitāḥ sevitā bhavantyato na dānādayaḥ [anyapāramitāḥ] pṛthak sevitavyā iti cet tad ayuktam| evaṃ hi buddhe gomayamaṇḍale'pi ṣaṭpāramitāntargamān maṇḍalakam eva kartavyaṃ syānna dhyānādyāḥ| śrāvakasyāpi nirodhasamādhisamāpannasya nimittād eva asamudācārāt tadā ṣaṭpāramitāparipūriprasaṅgaḥ| tataśca na śrāvakebhyo bodhisattvānāṃ bhedaḥ pratipādito bhavet| sarvāvasthāyām eva tu bodhisattvena ṣaṭpāramitāḥ paripūrayitavyā iti saṃdarśanārthe ekaikapāramitāntarbhāvaḥ sarvapāramitānāṃ bhagavatā sandarśitaḥ| na punarekaiva pāramitā sevanīyeti| tathā coktaṃ sarvadharmavaipulye-"yo'pyayaṃ maitreya ! ṣaṭpāramitāsamudāgamo bodhisattvānāṃ saṃbodhāya taṃ te mohapuruṣā evaṃ vakṣyanti, prajñāpāramitāyām evaṃ bodhisattvena śikṣitavyam, kiṃ śeṣābhiḥ pāramitābhiriti| te'nyāḥ pāramitā dūṣayitavyā maṃsyante| tat kiṃ manyase, ajita ! duṣprajñaḥ sa kāśirājo'bhūt, yena kapotārthena śyenāya svamāṃsāni dattāni ? maitreya āha-no hīdaṃ bhagavan ! bhagavān āha-yāni mayā maitreya ! bodhisattvacaryāṃ caratā ṣaṭpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāni kuśalamūlānyupacitāni| apakṛtaṃ nu taiḥ kuśalamūlaiḥ ? maitreya āha, no hīdaṃ bhagavan, bhagavān āha-tvaṃ tāvad ajita ! ṣaṣṭikalpān dānāpāramitāyāṃ samudāgataḥ| evaṃ yāvat ṣaṣṭikalpān prajñāpāramitāyāṃ samudāgataḥ| tat te mohapuruṣā evaṃ vakṣyanti| ekanayenaiva bodhiryaduta śūnyatānayeneti te caryāpariśuddhā bhavanti" ityādi| kevalaṃ śūnyātām eva sevamānāḥ śrāvakavannirvāṇe patanti| ataḥ upāyasahitā prajñā sevanīyā|
ata evācāryanāgārjunapādaiḥ sūtrasamuccaye'bhihitam-"na copāyakauśalarahitena bodhisattvena gambhīradharmatāyāmabhiyoktavyam" iti| atra āryavimalakīrtinirdeśādijñāpakastairūpanyastaḥ, na cācāryanāgārjunapādīyaṃ vacanam| yuktayāgamopetaṃ tyaktvā bhagavadvacanaṃ ca parityajya anyasya mūrkhajanasya vacanaṃ prekṣāvatā grahītum ayuktam| āryaratnakūṭe ca-"sakaladānādikuśalopetatayā sarvākāravaropetaśūnyatā sevanīyetyuktaṃ na tu kevalā|" āryaratnakūṭe coktam-tadyathā kāśyapāmātyasaṃgṛhītā rājānaḥ sarvakāryāṇi kurvanti evam eva upāyakauśalyasaṃgṛhītā bodhisattvasya prajñā sarvabuddhakāryāṇi karoti|
ata eva kevalāṃ śūnyatāṃ sevamānasya mā bhūnnirvāṇapraveśa iti| bhagavatā āryatathāgataguhyasūtre" coktam-"naikāntanirālambanaṃ cittamātrasevanaṃ kartavyam api tu upāyakauśalyam api sevanīyam iti pradarśanārtham uktam-tadyathāpi nāma, kulaputra ! agnirupādānād jvalati| anupādānaḥ śāmyati| evam evārambaṇataścittaṃ jvalati, anārambaṇaṃ śāmyati| tatropāyakuśalo bodhisattvaḥ prajñāpāramitāpariśuddhārambaṇopaśamam api jānāti| kuśalamūlārambaṇaṃ ca na śāmyati| kleśārambaṇaṃ ca notthāpayati| pāramitārambaṇaṃ cotthāpayati| śūnyatārambaṇaṃ ca pratyavekṣate sarvasattvamahākaruṇārambaṇaṃ ca prekṣate iti hi kulaputra ! upāyakuśalaḥ prajñāpāramitāpariśuddho bodhisattvo'nārambane vaśitāṃ pratilabhate" iti vistaram uktvā punaśca vadatyevaṃ hi-"nāsti tat kiṃcid ārambaṇaṃ bodhisattvasya yat sarvajñajñānābhinirhārāya na saṃtiṣṭhate| yasya bodhisattvasya sarvārambāṇāni bodhipariṇāmitāni, ayaṃ bodhisattva upāyakuśala sarvadharmān bodhyanugatān paśyati| tadyathāpi nāma kulaputra, nāsti tat trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau yat sattvānām upabhogāya na syat| evam eva, kulaputra nāsti tat kiṃcid ārambaṇaṃ yad upāyakuśalo bodhisattvo bodhāya copakārībhūtaṃ na paśyati" iti vistaraḥ| evam anantasūtrānteṣu bodhisattvānāṃ prajñopāyapratipattirnirdiṣṭā| tatra yadi nāma svayaṃ na śakyate dānādidpuṇyasaṃbhāravīryam ārabdhuṃ tathāpi anyeṣām evam upadeśo dātuṃ na yuktaśceti svaparadrohaḥ kṛtaḥ syāt|
tad evaṃ yuktyāgamābhyāṃ pratipāditaṃ yathā bodhisattvenāvaśyaṃ bhūtapratyavekṣā kartavyā sakaladānādipuṇyasambhāraścopārjayitavyaḥ| tataḥ prekṣāvatālpaśrutānām ābhimānikānāṃ vacanaṃ viṣam ivāvadhūyāryanāgārjunādividvajjanavacanāmṛtanugatena sakalasattveṣu mahakāruṇām upajanayya māyākāravad aviparyastenānuttarasaṃbodhipariṇāmitasakaladānādikuśalacaryāyām aśeṣajagaduddharaṇe cābhiyuktne abhāvitavyam| yathoktam āryadharmasaṃgītau-
māyākāro yathā kaścin nirmitaṃ moktumudyataḥ|
na cāsya nirmite saṅgo jñātapūrvo yato'sya saḥ||
tribhavaṃ nirmitaprakhyaṃ jñātvā saṃbodhipāragaḥ|
sannahyanti jagaddhetoḥ jñātapūrve jage tathā||iti tasyaivaṃ|
prajñām upāyaṃ ca satataṃ satkṛtyābhyasyataḥ krameṇa [cittaṃ] saṃtatiparipākād uttarottaraviśuddhataratamakṣaṇodayād bhūtārthabhāvanāprakarṣaparyantagamena sakalakalpanājālarahitaṃ sphuṭataraṃ dharmadhātvadhigamaṃ vimalaṃ niścalanivātadīpavallokottarajñānam utpadyate| tadā ca vastuparyantatālambanam pratilabdhaṃ bhavati| darśanamārgaṃ ca praviṣṭo bhavati| prathamā ca bhūmiḥ prāptā bhavati| tatastaduttarā bhūmīḥ pariśodhayan krameṇa kanakavad aśeṣāvaraṇāpagame sati asaktam apratihataṃ jñānaṃ pratilabhya buddhabhūmim aśeṣaguṇādhārāṃ prāpto bhavati| kāryapariniṣpattiṃ cālambanaṃ pratilabhate| tasmād buddhatvādhigamārthinā madhyamapaddhatau tāvad abhiyogaḥ karaṇīya iti|
prakāśya yat prāpi mayā śubham asamapaddhitam|
puṇyamastu janastena prāpto madhyamapaddhitam||
dūrīkṛterṣyādimalā hi santo guṇairatṛptāḥ salilairivābdhiḥ|
vivecya gṛṇhanti subhāṣitāni haṃsāḥ payo yatpayasi prahṛṣṭāḥ||
pakṣapātākulaṃ tasmād dūrīkṛtaṃ mano budhaiḥ|
sarvameva grahītavyaṃ bālādapi subhāṣitam||
ācāryakamalaśīlena ante nibaddho bhāvanākramaḥ samāptaḥ|
tṛtīyaḥ bhāvanākramaḥ samāptaḥ|
