Tṛtīyaṃ prakaraṇam

cakṣurādīndriyaparīkṣā tṛtīyaṃ prakaraṇam |
atrāha - yadyapi gatiśca gantā ca gantavyaṃ ca na vidyate, tathāpi pravacanasiddhayapekṣayā draṣṭṭadraṣṭavyadarśanādīnāmastitvamāstheyam | tathā cābhidharme ucyate |
darśanaṃ śravaṇaṃ ghrāṇaṃ rasanaṃ sparśanaṃ manaḥ |
indriyāṇi ṣaḍeteṣāṃ draṣṭavyādīni gocaraḥ ||1||
tasmātsanti darśanādīni svabhāvata iti | ucyate | na santi | iha hi paśyatīti darśanaṃ cakṣuḥ, tasya ca rūpaṃ viṣayatvenopadiśyate ||1||
yathā darśanaṃ rūpaṃ na paśyati tathā pratipādayannāha -
svamātmānaṃ darśanaṃ hi tattameva na paśyati |
na paśyati yadātmānaṃ kathaṃ drakṣyati tatparān ||2||
tatra tadeva darśanaṃ svātmānaṃ na paśyati svātmani kriyāvirodhāt | tataśca svātmādarśanācchrotrādivannīlādikaṃ na paśyati | tasmānnāsti darśanam ||2||
yadyapi svātmānaṃ darśanaṃ na paśyati, tathāṣyagnivat parān drakṣyati | tathā hi agniḥparātmānameva dahati na svātmānam, evaṃ darśanaṃ parāneva drakṣyati na svātmānamiti | etadatyayuktam | yasmāt -
na paryāpto'gnidṛṣṭānto darśanasya prasiddhaye |
yo'yamagnidṛṣṭānto darśanasya prasiddhaye bhavatopanyastaḥ, sa na paryāpto nālaṃ na samartho na yujyata ityarthaḥ | yasmāt -
sadarśanaḥ sa pratyukto gamyamānagatāgataiḥ ||3||
saha darśanena vartata iti sadarśanaḥ | yo'yamagnidṛṣṭānto darśanaprasiddhaye bhavatopanyastaḥ, so'pi saha darśanena dārṣṭāntikārthena pratyukto dūṣitaḥ | kena punarityāha- gamyamānagatāgataiḥ | yathā gataṃ na gamyate nāgataṃ na gamyamānam, evamagnināpi dagdhaṃ na dahyate nādagdhaṃ dahyata ityādinā samaṃ vācyam | yathā ca na gataṃ nāgataṃ na gamyamānaṃ gamyate, evam -
na dṛṣṭaṃ dṛśyate tāvadadṛṣṭaṃ naiva dṛśyate |
dṛṣṭādṛṣṭavinirmuktaṃ dṛśyamānaṃ na dṛśyate ||
ityādi vācyam ||3||
yathā ca gantā na gacchati tāvadityādyuktam, evaṃ na dagdhā dahati tāvadityādi vācyam | evaṃ na draṣṭā paśyati tāvadityādinā agnidṛṣṭāntena saha gamyamānagatāgatairyasmātsamaṃ dūṣaṇam, ato'pya gnivad darśanasiddhiriti na yujyate | tataśca siddhametat- svātmavad darśanaṃ parānapi na paśyatīti ||3||
yadaivaṃ tadā -
nāpaśyamānaṃ bhavati yadā kiṃcana darśanam |
darśanaṃ paśyatītyevaṃ kathametattu yujyate ||4||
yadā caivamapaśyanna kiṃciddarśanaṃ bhavati, tadānīmapaśyato darśanātvāyogāt stambhādivat, paśyatīti darśanamiti vyapadeśo na yujyate | yadyapi darśanaśabdādanantaraṃ ślokabandhānurodhena darśana paśyatīti pāṭhaḥ, tathāpi vyākhyānakāle paśyatīti darśanamityevaṃ kathametattu yujyate iti paṭhitavyam ||4||
kiṃ cānyat - iha paśyatīti darśanamityucyamāne darśanakriyayā darśanasvabhāvasya vā cakṣuṣaḥ saṃbandhaḥ parikalpyeta, adarśanasvabhāvasya vā? ubhayathā ca na yujyate ityāha -
paśyati darśanaṃ naiva naiva paśyatyadarśanam |
darśanasvabhāvasya tāvad dṛśikriyāyuktasya bhūyaḥ paśyatītyādinā saṃbandho nopapadyate dṛśikriyādvayaprasaṅgāt darśanadvayaprasaṅgācca | adarśanamapi na paśyati darśanakriyārahitatvādaṅgūlyaya vadityābhiprāyaḥ | yadā
paśyati darśanaṃ naiva naiva paśyatyadarśanam |
tadā
darśanaṃ paśyatītyevaṃ kathametattu yujyate ||
ityanenaiva saṃbandhaḥ ||
ye tu manyante - nirvyāpāraṃ hīdaṃ dharmamātramutpadyamānamutpadyate iti, naiva kiṃcit, kaścidviṣayaṃ paśyati kriyāyā abhāvāt, tasmāddarśanaṃ na paśyatīti siddhametatprasādhyata iti | atrocyate | yadi kriyā vyavahārāṅgabhūtā na syāt, tadā dharmamātramapi na syāt, kriyāvirahitatvāt, khapuṣpavaditi kutaḥ kriyārahitaṃ dharmamātraṃ bhaviṣyati? tasmādyadi vyavahārasatyaṃ dharmamātravat kriyāpyabhyupagamyatām | atha tattvacintā, tadā kriyāvad dharmamātramapi nāstīti bhavatābhyupagamyatām | yathoktaṃ śatake -
kriyāvān śāśvato nāsti nāsti sarvagate kriyā |
niṣkriyo nāstinā tulyo nairātmyaṃ kiṃ na te priyam ||iti |
tasmānnāyaṃ vidhirbādhakaḥ parasya, nāpyasmākaṃ siddhasādhanadoṣaḥ ||
atrāha -naiva hi paśyatīti darśanamiti kartṛsādhanamabhyupagamyate, kiṃ tarhi paśyatyanenetī darśanamiti karaṇasādhanam , tataśca uktadoṣāprasaṅgaḥ | yaścānena darśanena karaṇabhūtena paśyati, sa draṣṭā, eṣa ca vidyate vijñānamātmā vā, kartṛsadbhāvācca darśanamapi siddhamiti | ucyate -
vyākhyāto darśanenaiva draṣṭā cāpyupagamyatām ||5 ||
yathā svamātmānaṃ darśanaṃ hītyādinā dūṣaṇamuktam, evaṃ draṣṭurapi darśanavaddūṣaṇaṃ veditavyam | tadyathā -
svamātmānaṃ naiva draṣṭā darśanena vipaśyati |
na paśyati yadātmānaṃ kathaṃ drakṣyati tatparān ||
ityādi vācyam | tasmāddarśanavad draṣṭāpi nāstīti siddham ||5||
atrāha - vidyata eva draṣṭā tatkarmakaraṇasadbhāvāt | iha yannāsti iti, na tasya karmakaraṇe vidyete tadyathā vandhyāsūnoḥ | asti ca draṣṭuḥ karaṇaṃ darśanaṃ draṣṭavyaṃ ca karma | tasmācchettṛvadvidyamāna karmakaraṇo vidyata eva draṣṭeti | ucyate | naiva hi draṣṭavyadarśane vidyete, tatkuto draṣṭā syāt? draṣṭusāpekṣe hi draṣṭavyadarśane | sa ca nirūttyamāṇaḥ -
tiraskṛtya draṣṭā nāstyatiraskṛtya ca darśanam |
iha draṣṭā nāma yadi kaścitsyāt, sa darśanasāpekṣo vā syānnirapekṣo vā | tatra yadi darśanasāpekṣo'tiraskṛtya darśanamiṣyate, tadā siddhasya vā darśanāpekṣā syādasiddhasya vā | tatra siddho draṣṭā na hi darśanamapekṣate | kiṃ siddhasya sato draṣṭuḥ punardarśanāpek ṣā kuryāt? na hi siddhaṃ punarapi sādhyata iti | athāsiddho'pekṣeta, asiddhatvādvandhyāsutavaddarśanaṃ nāpekṣate | evaṃ tāvadatiraskṛtya darśanamapekṣya draṣṭā nāsti | tiraskṛtyāpi , darśananirapekṣatvāt ityuktaṃ prāk | tadevaṃ tiraskṛtyātiraskṛtya vā darśanaṃ yadā draṣṭā nāsti, tadā -
draṣṭavyaṃ darśanaṃ caiva draṣṭaryasati te kutaḥ ||6||
draṣṭaryasati nirhetuke draṣṭavyadarśane na saṃbhavataḥ iti kutastatsadbhāvād draṣṭā prasetsyati?
atrāha- vidyete eva draṣṭavyadarśane, tatkāryasadbhāvāt | tatra -
pratītya mātāpitarau yathoktaḥ putrasaṃbhavaḥ |
cakṣūrūpe pratītyaivamukto vijñānasaṃbhavaḥ ||7||
iti draṣṭavyaṃ darśanaṃ ca pratītya vijñānamutpadyate | trayāṇāṃ saṃnipātātsāsravasparśaḥ , sparśasahajā vedanā, tatpratyayā tṛṣṇeti | evaṃ catvāryapi bhavāṅgāni draṣṭavyadarśanahetukāni vidyante | tasmātkāryasadbhāvād draṣṭavyadarśane vidyete iti | 7||
ucyate - syātāmete, yadi vijñānādicatuṣṭayameva syāt | yasmāt -
draṣṭavyadarśanābhāvādvijñānādicatuṣṭayam |
nāstīti
iha draṣṭurabhāvād draṣṭavyadarśane api na sta ityuktam | ataḥ kuto vijñānādicatuṣṭayaṃ vijñānasparśavedanātṛṣṇākhyam? tasmānna santi vijñānādīni ||
atrāha - santyevatāni tatkāryasadbhāvāt | iha tṛṣṇāpratyayamupādānamityādinā upādānabhavajātijarāmaraṇādikaṃ vijñānādicatuṣṭayādutpadyate, tasmātsanti vijñānādīni tatkāryasadbhāvāt |
ucyate | syurupādānādīni yadi vijñānādicatuṣṭayameva syāt | yadā tu draṣṭavyadarśanābhāvādvijñānādi catuṣṭayaṃ naivāsti, tadā -
upādānādīni bhaviṣyanti punaḥ katham ||8||
na santyupādānādīnītyarthaḥ ||8||
idānīṃ darśanavaccheṣāyatanavyākhyānātideśārthamāha -
vyākhyātaṃ śravaṇaṃ ghrāṇaṃ rasanaṃ sparśanaṃ manaḥ |
darśanenaiva jānīyācchrotṛśrotavyakādi ca ||9||
iti ||
uktaṃ hi bhagavatā -
na cakṣuḥ prekṣate rūpaṃ mano dharmānna vetti ca |
etatta paramaṃ satyaṃ yatra loko na gāhate ||
sāmagryā darśanaṃ yatra prakāśayati nāyakaḥ |
prāhopacārabhūmiṃ tāṃ paramārthasya buddhimān ||iti ||
tathā -
cakṣuśca pratītya rūpataḥ cakṣuvijñānamihopajāyate |
no cakṣuṣi rūpa niśritaṃ rūpasaṃkrānti na caiva cakṣuṣi ||
nairātmya'śubhāśca dharmime teṣvātmeti śubhāśca kalpitāḥ |
viparītamasadvikalpitaṃ cakṣuvijñāna tato'pi jāyate ||
vijñānanirodhasaṃbhavaṃ vijñānaupādavayaṃ vipaśyati |
na kahiṃci gataṃ na cāgataṃ śūnya māyopama yogi paśyati ||
tathācāryopālipṛcchāyām -
sarva sayogi tu paśyati cakṣustatra na paśyati pratyayahīnam |
naiva ca cakṣu prapaśyati rūpaṃ tena sayogaviyogavikalpaḥ ||
ālokasamāśrita paśyati cakṣū rūpa manoramacitraviśiṣṭam |
yena ca yogasamāśritacakṣustena na paśyati cakṣu kadāci ||
yo'pi ca śrūyati śabdu manojñaḥ so'pi ca nāntari jātu praviṣṭaḥ |
saṃkramaṇaṃ na ca labhyati tasya kalpavaśāttu samucchritu śabdaḥ || iti ||
tathā -
gītaṃ na nṛtyamapi vādyarutaṃ na grāhyaṃ
svapnopamā hi ratayo'budhamohanāśca |
saṃkalpalālasa gatā abudhā'tra nāśaṃ
kiṃ kleśadāsa iva bālajano bhavāmi || iti ||
ityācāryacandrakīrtipādoparacitāyāṃ prasannapadāyāṃ madhyamakavṛttau
cakṣurādīndriyaparīkṣā nāma tṛtīyaṃ prakaraṇam ||
