ihāpohe pratyūhavyūho vyudasyate| iha jagati jāgrato jīvalokasya nīlavipulacalacetanīyanicūlanicayādau cakṣuṣo vikṣepādanantaraṃ nīlādisvalakṣaṇaniṣṭho (2) nirbhāsastadanusandhānadhīrasādhāraṇabodhapratibaddhanīlādīnirbhāsaśca niścīyate etacca dvayamapi nīlādiparicchedadakṣamakṣatamabhīkṣṇamabhilakṣyate| sārūpyavaśa-(3)-gā hi paricchedaśaktiḥ samvedanānāmasti cānayornīlabhirbhāsatā nīlanirṇayanibandhanaṃ tenobhayamapi bhayabhraṣṭaṃ nīlameva paricchinattīti sampratyayaḥ sāṃvya-(4)-vahārikalokasya| tattvatarkavitarkaviśrṛṅkhalāśrayastu vyākhyātā samaḥkhyātiprathamamavyapadeśyaṃ vyavasāyātmakamiti| prathamamālo-(5)canājñānaṃ nirvikalpakaṃ bālamūkādijñānaprakhyam, tataḥ paraṃ punarvastu dharmerjātyādibhiryayā buddhayāvasīyate sāpi pratyakṣatvena sammateti vikalpakamadhya(6)kṣaṃ jātyādiyojitajalajādivastuparicchede dīpyate| bauddhastvavadhayvasitavān, prathamameva pramāṇaṃ dvitīyantu smaraṇābhogādisāmagrījalpanārthāt (7) utpadyate netrādisamagrāt| kintarhi madhyāvasthālakṣaṇajñānagrāhyākārātsmaraṇābhogādisahitādaniṣṭhitamitīṣṭaṃ nirṇayanibandhanaṃ punaratranetranīlādyarthāpāye'pi nīlākṣismaraṇasaṃkāntanīlādinirbhāsaḥ kutaḥ saṃbobhavīṃta| nārthāttasya niruddhatvāt| na jalāde vyāpyarūpādisvabhāvatvāt| idaṃ hyuktam-

tacca sāmā- (2)-nyavijñānamanurundhanavibhāvyate|
nīlādyākāraleśo yaḥ sa tasmin kena nirmitaḥ||
śabdebhyo yādṛśī buddhirnaṣṭe'naṣṭepi dṛśyate,
tādṛśyeva sadarthānāṃ naitacchotrā (3) dicetasām||
iti tathā

yadapyanvayivijñānaṃ śabdavyaktyavabhāsiyat|
varṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaṃ gotvaṃ hi varṇyate|

dravyādyarūpādirūpam| idaṃ tu vikalpakaṃ nīlādyākṛtisākṣarākāraṃ ca sujñātamantarmātrādipari (4) vittirvirbhāvyate| tena na jātyādiparicchedadarpo dvitīyapratyayasya tatpratyanīkarūpādiḥ rūpatvāt| na hi yatra yasya pratibhāso'saṃbhāvī sa tasya grāhakaḥ pratya-(5)-yasparśākāraśūnya iva rūpa samvedī na sparśasya| tathe damapi nīlādinirbhāsi na tatsvabhāvaśūnyajātyādisaṃvedi vyavasthāpyamāpadyate| tadetarayāṃ ve-(6)-danavivartamātrāyām|

‘apohaḥ śabdaliṅgābhyāṃ prakāśyata iti lthitiḥ
sādhyate sarvadharmāṇāmavācyatvaprasiddhaye,|
iti sādhyatvamanūdyate|

rahasyaṃ punaratra, yena nī-(7)-laṃ anīlāpohamparicchidyate pratyayena na tenaivāpohaviṣayatvamātmano vyavasthāpyate, kintarhi, pratyayāntareṇa bādhamātanvatā nīlasvakṣaṇavilakṣaṇatvādetannirbhāsasya| tenedaṃ paraprauḍhaśāstrakṛdbhirapitatpratyayamadhikṛtyocyamānaṃ na mānasasparśiprekṣasya kṣaṇikatvānupapattiścānugata vyavavahārānanyathā siddheḥ śabdaliṅgavikalpāhi sādhāraṇaṃ rūpamanupasthāpayanto na tṛṇakubjīkaraṇe'pi samarthā ityavivādaṃ, bāhyārthasthitau sthirāsthiravicārāt| taccālīkaṃ vā, ākāro vā, bāhyaṃ vastu veti trayaḥ (2) pakṣāḥ| tatra na prathama pakṣaḥ taddhi tāvadanubhabādeva tathā vyavasthāpyaṃtasyālīkatvenānullekhāt| tathātve vā pravṛttivirodhāt| na hyalīkametadityanubhūyāpyarthakriyārthī pravartate (3) anyanivṛttisphuraṇṇānnaiṣa doṣa iti cet, etadevāsat vidhirūpasyaiva sphuraṇāt| nahi śabdaliṅgābhyāmiha mahīdharoddeśe'nagni rna bhavatīti skuraṇamapi tvagnirastī-(4) ti| yadyapi nivṛttimahaṃ pratyaimītyādi|

yasmādiha dharādharaviśmbharāyāṃ vibhāvasurastīti dhanañjayākāradhāritvādvodhasya tena bodhena dhanañjaya evāvabuddhaḥ| (5) tena vidhereva smaraṇāditi sammatamevāsmākam| alīkamiti tu loke'prakāśabhṛdbādhyamalīkamāhuriti vacanāt| prakāśyamānaṃ bādhitamucyate| tatkimucyate na (6) tāvattenaivānubhave netyādi bhāṣāmapi tāvadabhyasya nirākāravādinā hi dravyavadekānekavicāracakranikṛttatayā nīlādyākārameva cetaścakramalīkamabhilapyate tadapi na svānubhavaprabhāvādapi tu bādhakabodhādhīnaṃtat| tathā nīla jalajākārākrāntameva svāntamanīlavyāvṛttirityucyate| vyatiriktāyāṃ nīlavyākṛttau tato vyā-(8) vartamānaṃ nīlamanīlameva miledanīlavatā apitu tasmāt-

tatrāpi cānyavyāvṛttiranyavyāvṛtta ityapi|
śabdāśca niścalāścaiva nimittamanurundhate||
bhedāntarapratikṣepā prartikṣepau tayordvayoḥ|
padaṃ saṃketabhedasya jñātṛvāṃcchānurodhataḥ||

tatrāpyanyāpohe śabdārthena vyāvṛttiranyānya eva vyāvṛttestu vyāvṛttairnivartamānasya tadabhāvaprasaṅgāt| tathā ca (2) pravṛttera pyabhāvaḥ tasmādya eva vyāvṛtta sa eva vyāvṛttaśabdapravṛttibhedaśca rsaketabhedānuvācyabhedo'sti|

nanu ca vācyaviśeṣābhāvāt saṃketabhedo'pyayuktaḥ dvayorekā (3) calanāt, tathā ca vyatirekiṇyā vibhakteraprayogaḥ tasyābhedāśrayatvāt|

dvayorekābhidhāne'pi vibhaktirvyatirekiṇī|
bhinnamarthamivānveti vācyaleśaviśeṣataḥ||

na vai śabdārtha kācidviṣayasvabhāvāyattā vuttirityato vṛttyabhāvaprasaṃgāt yathā vyatirikte'vyatirikte vā prayoktumiṣyante tathā nirmuktāstamarthamapratibandhena prakāśayanti| tena gau rgau (5)tvamityekārthābhidhāne'pi kasyacidviśeṣasya pratyayena virudhyate saṃketabhede vyatiriktārthā vibhaktirarthāntaramivādarśayantī pratibhātyanarthāntare'pi tathā prayoga (6) darśanābhyāsāt| na tāvat sarvatra bhedaḥ anyatrāpi puruṣa iva tasya pratibandhābhāvāt| yathaikaṃ kvacidekatra cānena khyāpyate tadaviśeṣe'pi gauravādi khyā- (7)-panārthaṃ bahuvacanena prayogābhāvāttu saṃketabhedo na syāt anyasyaiva, tathāhi bhedāntareṇa yadi bhaṇitasyārthaḥ yadāyaṃ pratipattā tadanyavyavacchedabhāvānapekṣaḥ (8) piṇḍaviśeṣe'śvavyavacchedamātraṃ jijñāsate tathābhūtajñāpanāt tathā ca bhedasaṅketena śabdena bodhyate'naśvatvamasyāstīti yadā punarvyavacchedāntaranirāṅkṣyastaṃjñā-(9)-tumicchati tadā'parityakta vyavacchedāntaraṃ tamevāśvaparicchedāntaraṃ tamevāśvaparicchedaṃ tathā prakāśanāya pramucyate anaśvāyamiti| ata eva pūrvatra pratiṣṭhitapadāntaratvācchabdapravṛtterna samānādhikaraṇyaṃ viśeṣyabhāvo vā gotvamasya śuklamiti tanmātraviśeṣeṇa vuddhe stadāśrayabhūtāyā ekatvenāpratibhāsanāt| nirākāṃkṣatvācca dvitīye tu na bhavati| tathā saṃketavyavahāreṇa saṃketasakalavyacchedadharme vibhāgavat ekasya bahujanena pratibhāsanāt vyavacchedāntarasākāṃkṣatvācca|

bhedo'yameva sarvatra dravyabhāvābhidhāyinoḥ|
śabdayo rna tayo rvvācyeviśeṣastena kaścana||

tasmānna sarvatra dharmadharmivācinoḥ śabdayorvācye'rthe niścayapratyayavirodhatvena kaścidviśeṣaḥ ekastameva pratyāyanapratikṣiptabhedāntaraḥ pratyāyati (3) anyau'pratikṣepeṇaityayaṃ viśeṣaḥ|

jijñāpayiṣurartha taṃ taddhitena kṛtāpi vā|
anyena vā yadi brūyāt bhedo nāsti tato'paraḥ||

etāvantameva ca bhedaṃ darśanaṃ śuddhistena....vāde jā-(4)-yeta pācakatvamiti kadā vā pāa iti anyena vā tathābhūtajñāpanāya svayaṃkṛtena samayena na punastathā mūtābhidhānamātreṇārthāntaramevaitadbhavati tathābhūtasyaiva jñā-(5)-panāya śabdasya kṛtasaṃketatvāt| na ca pācakatvamiti tathā ucyate, na pācaka eva atra pākena anya eva kaścitpācako nāmābhidhīyate pāka vicintyate| yat pu-(6)-narasyāmidheyaṃ tat kaścittaṃ taveva pācakatvenāpītyayam|

nāstyekasamudāyo'smādanekatve'pi pūrvavat|
aviśeṣādaṇuttbācca na gati (7) ścenna siddhayati|
aviśeṣaḥ viśiṣṭānāmaindriyatvamato'naṇuḥ|
etenāvaraṇādīnāmabhāvaśca nirākṛtaḥ||
saṃkhyāsaṃyogakarmāderapi tadvat svarūpataḥ|
abhilāpācca (8) bhedena rūpaṃ vuddhau na bhāsate|

āvaraṇaṃ hi paramāṇūnāṃ upalabdhaṃ, asaṃsargātkathamiti na yuktam| na hi avayavī pratiṣedhasādhāraṇaṃ kvāpi upalabdhaṃ yena tattvābhāve paramāṇuṣu na syāttathā pratighātādayaḥ| atha

citratvātparamāṇūnāṃ saṃhateḥ syātpaṭādikam|
kathamāvaraṇaṃ vā tasyātapasya jalasya vā||

avayavaiḥ santyāgamantareṇa parimāṇuṣu ca (10) kevalā avyāhataparasparāntarānupradeśāḥ kathamāvaraṇatvāt jātasya vātra ucyate| asaṃsṛṣṭāḥ kathamavayavinaṃ jāyante saṃsargaśca naikadā tadabhāvāt na sarvātmanā'ṇumātrapiṇḍaprasaṅgāt saṃyogasya padārthāntarasya jananena cet tameva saṃyogaṃ sāntarāḥ kathaṃjayantīti samānaḥ prasaṅgaḥ| saṃsargaścet kiṃ saṃyogenāpare-(2)-ṇa tathā vāpi nā| atha sāntarā eva saṃyogamavayavinañca janayanti tathā satyavaraṇādikāryamapi kiṃna janayanti|

vināpi paramāṇūnāṃ saṃsargāt saṃhatiḥ parā|
āghāte'pi pṛthagbhāvau (3)yasyāṃ naiva samasti saḥ||

na khalu saṃyogaḥ pratibhāsate saṃyoge vyatiriktaḥ, kevalamasaṃyuktayoḥ sāvasthānopalabhyate tau punarupalabhyete tato'nvayavyatirekābhyāṃ kalpa-(4)-nāmātrametaditi nirṇayaḥ| apratyakṣeṇa te tathābhūtaṃ sacaivaṃbhūtaṃ jātamiti pratītiḥ| tataḥ saivāvasthā pṛthagbhāvena jñāpyate saṃyoga iti| ataeva|

śabdajñāne vikalpena vastubhedānusāriṇā|
guṇādiṣviva kalpyārthe naṣṭājāteṣu vā tathā||

na śabdajñānena vailakṣyamātrādeva padārthabhedo'pitu pratyakṣalakṣaṇajñānabhedāt vikalpi-(6)-kāhi buddhiranādivāsanāsāmarthyādupajāyamānā tathā tathā plavate tato nārthatattvaṃ pratiṣṭhāṃ labhate| tathānvayavyatirekeṇa parikalpitaṃ bhedamāśritya saṃyogādibūddhayaḥ tataḥ parikalpitasyaiva cotpādanārthatatvasya kalpitārthabhedastu tīrthyāntaradarśanādapyupajāyate| tato'pyarthatattvavyaksthāyāmanavasthā (8) tathā (8) tathābhyupagamanena parasparāpavādaḥ syāt| tato bhinnaśabdaḥ jñānañca vikalpite vastuni vāsanāyā anvayavyatirekābhyāṃ pravartate kiṃ bhūto'sau vikalpo vastu-(9)-bhedānusārī vastūnāṃ bhedo vyāvṛttiratathābhūtāt| na vyāvṛttādanyā vyāvṛttiḥ tataḥ sa eva santānāpekṣayā'rthāntarabhedo bhedena pratibhāti vastubhedama-(10)-ntareṇa ca kalpanā bhedānugā gamyante, yathā eko guṇaḥ ekaḥ samavāyaścaturviśatiḥ guṇāḥ|

mato yadyupacāro'tra sa iṣṭo yannibaṃdhanaḥ|
sa eva sarvabhāveṣu hetuḥ kinneṣyate tayoḥ||

ājātāḥ putrā sthaviraṃ tāpayantītivat, atītājātayoryannibandhanamupacārasya niru-(2)-paṇānusmaraṇagṛhītatvena kṣaṇaṃ tadeva nimittamastu vartamānepi saṃyukto ghaṭa ityādāvapi||

upacāro na sarvatra yadi bhinnaviśeṣaṇam|
mukhyamityeva ca kuto'bhinne bhinnārtha (3)teti cet||
anarthāntarahetutve'pyaparyāyaḥ sitādiṣu|
saṃkhyādiyoginaḥ śabdāstatrāpyarthāntaraṃ yadi||
guṇadravyāviśeṣaḥ syāt bhinno vyāvṛttibhedataḥ|
syādanarthānta(4) ratve'pyakarmādravyaśabdavat||

nanūpacāro hi nāma mukhyanibandhanaḥ sa kathamasati mukhye bhavet| mukhyañca bhinnaviśeṣaṇaṃ daṇḍyādivat| abhinnaviśeṣa-(5)ṇatve maulī vyavasthitiḥ bhavatastu pūrvapūrvakalpanākṛtaviśeṣaṇayogādabhinnaviśeṣaṇatvenamukhyatvaṃ kvaciditi nopacārasaṃbhavaḥ| bhinnaviśe (5) ṣaṇaṃ mukhyamityeva kṛtaḥ| abhinnaviśeṣaṇamapi kalpanākṛtabhinnaviśeṣaṇamatyantābhyāsāt rūḍhimupagataṃ mukhyameva|

buddhehaskhalitā vtti rmukhyāropita (7) yoḥ sadā
siṃhe māṇavake tadvadghoṣaṇāpyasti laukikīṃ||

iti vacanāt| askhalan gatipratyayaviṣayo hi mukhyaḥ tadaparastu gauṇa iti kinna paryāpyam| yadi viśeṣa-(8)-ṇamaparaṃ nāsti viśeṣyameva tarhi sarvatra vācyam| ityabhinnārthatā paryāyatā rūpābhedena sāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ bhinnaviṣayatve hi tadbhavati na buddhaya evahi sva vāsa-(9)-nānurodhādupajāyamānā bhedābhedasāmānādhikaraṇyādivyavahāramuparacayanti na paryāyatādiprasaṅgaḥ anarthāntaratve'pi dṛśyante aparyāyā akarmmadravyam, adravyaṃ karmmeti prabhṛtayo vyapadeśāḥ| tatra kiṃ vyāvṛttibheda eva nibandhanaṃ nāparaḥ pravṛttinimittabhedaḥ gauḥ śuklo gauḥ śabdatvamiti| punaḥ

vyatirekīva yaccāpi sūcyate bhāvavācibhiḥ|
saṃkhyāditadvataḥ śabdaistaddharmāntarabhedakam||
śrutistanmātrajijñāsoranākṣiptākhilāparā|
bhinnadharmamivācaṣṭe vogo'ṅgulyā iva kvacit||
yuktāṅguloti sarveṣāmakṣipāt dharmivācinī|
khyātaikārthābhidhāne'pi tathāvihitasaṃsthitiḥ||

gauriti tadekākāraparāmarśayogī sakala eva padārtha ucyate| śukla iti tadekadeśaḥ parāmarśāntarayoginī ca vartamānā vyatirekaśca anvayavyatire-(4)kābhyāṃ apovṛtaḥ| tatastasya gauḥ śuklo guṇa iti vyatirekavibhaktistadyathā “śilāputrakasya śarīraṃ rāhoḥ śiraḥ”| yadā ca gavākārāvagrahau nāsti śuklatvameva kevalamupalabhya-(5)-te sambandhiviśeṣarahitam| tadā praśnayati kasyeda śuklatvamiti tadāpūrvadarśanāt avadhṛtagosvabhāvo nirdiśati gauriti tādātmyasambandha evāsya vivakṣito-(6)-vyatirekastu kalpakapravalasya prathamaṃ niścayāt| yadā tu kevalenānena bhavitavyaṃ yadi nāma viśeṣopalakṣaṇamandatā mandalocanānāṃ tathāpi śuklenānena gavānyena bha-(7) vitavyamiti praśnayati| kī'yaṃ śuklo gauranyo veti tadā prativacanaṃ gauriti| samānādhikaraṇatayā tadantarbhāvenaiva praśnabhāvāt| tadanurūpameva prativacanaṃ mūkaṃ ayañca tattvārthaḥ|

anvayavyatirekābhyāṃ vyatirekaviniścaye|
viśeṣalakṣaṇābhāve kutaścit kāraṇādapi||
ayaṃ śaklo ṇuṇo'śvasya prativākyaṃ vipaścitāt|
praśnasya vyatirekitvāt [9] tathaivetyatra niścayaḥ (nirṇayaḥ)
yadā tvavyatirekeṇa viśeṣāntargame sati|
pramāṇavṛttamālocya praśnaḥ praśnayiturbhavet||
tadāviditatadbhāva uttaraṃ tādṛśeva saḥ|
dātānyaprakra-[10]-masyātra naivāvasarasambhavaḥ|
pratyakṣabhedamālocya na bhedasya viniścayaḥ||
na mūlamanumānasyābhedasyāsambhavo mataḥ|
anvayavyatirekau tu yadānādī vyavasthitau|
tadā bhedasya sadbhāvāt vyavahārastathaiva saḥ|
anādivyavahāro'yaṃ evameva jarāṅgataḥ|
vastucintā tu lokasya neti bhedo na bādhyate|

evamapi dravyābhāve ghaṭasya (2) rūpaṃ rūpasya rūpamiti vat syāt tadvyatiriktasyābhāvāt na|
rūpādi śaktibhedānāṃ anākṣepeṇa vataite|
tatsamānaphalāhetuvyavacchedaghaṭaśrutiḥ||
ato na rūpaṃ ghaṭa ityekādhikaraṇā śrutiḥ|
bhedo'yamīdṛśo jāti samudāyābhidhāyinoḥ||
rūpādayo ghaṭasyeti tatsāmānyopasarjanāt|
tacchakti bhedāḥ khyāpyante vācyo'pyanyo diśānayā||

nanu samāsakṛttaddhiteṣu samvandhā-(4)-bhidhānamanyatra rūḍhi abhinnarūpā 'vyabhicarita sambandhebhyaḥ| yathā rājapuruṣatvaṃ kārakatvamaupagavatvamiti svasvāmisvakriyākārakāpatyāpatyavatsambandhāḥ| asyāpavādaḥ| (5) samāsādrūḍhātkṛṣṇasarpatvam, kṛtasamaratvaṃ taddhitāt hastitvam atra jātimātramucyate na sambandhaḥ taddhitādabhinnarūpācchuklatvaṃ matvarthīyāntopi prakṛtyā tulyarūpatvāt| a (6) trāpi guṇa evābhidhīyate| kṛdanto'vyabhicaritasambandhaḥ saditi na sattāṃ padārtho vyabhicarati tena sa eva sambandho vācya iti śābdanyāyāt| kathaṃ pācakapācakatvayoreka evārtha iti cet na kriyāsamavāyayornirākṛtatvāt, kalpanākṛtabhede'pi tādātmyākṣateḥ, kimanupapannaṃ nāma vyāvṛttivyāvṛttaśabdayorekārthatvena tenānyāpoha vi (8) ṣaye tadvatpakṣopavartalūnam|

‘pratyākhyātaṃ pṛthaktvehi syāddoṣo jātiṃtaddhatoḥ’|
taddhato na svatantratvāt asyāyamarthaḥ|

evamiti sacchabdo jātisvarūṣamātropasarjanaṃ dravyamā (9) ha| na sākṣāditi tadbhūtadhaṭādibhedānākṣepāt| sa evātadbhedatve samānādhikaraṇyābhāva na hyasatyāṃ vyāptau sāmānādhikaraṇyamasti| tadyathā śuklaśabdena svābhidheyaguṇa (10) mātraviśiṣṭadravyābhidhānāt| satāmapi dravyamadhurādīnāmanākṣepastataścātadbhedatvamevamanyatrāpi prasaṅgaḥ| jātiśca svarūpañca śabdasya ca upasarjanaṃ dravyamuktaṃ na tadvat ghaṭādibhedastadubhayavyavadhinā ṣāratantryaṃ tataścana ghaṭatvāīnākṣipati| ghaṭatvayogācca, sattāśrayo ghaṭo bhavati| svataḥ yathā rūpaśabdenānākṣiptairmmadhurādibhinnasāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ śuklamambumiti tadvat pakṣopavandanaṃ tatpratyākhyātamityācāryavacanai bhāṣyakāra vyākhyāne ca pracarati| kathamayamanucitacintācamatkāritvāt samucitacetā ṇitavān|

“na ca nivṛttimātrapratibhāse'pi pravṛttisambhavaḥ, na hyaghaṭo nāstītyeva ghaṭārthī pravartate api ghaṭo'stītyādi” yato'ghaṭo nāstītyanyanivṛttirghaṭo vāstīti aghaṭādanyā ihāstīti aghaṭalakṣaṇā-(4)-nyavyāvṛtta ityeka evārthaḥ| ghaṭākāraghaṭitaghoṣonmīṣitamanīṣāyā eva ghaṭaviśeṣe apratiṣṭhitāyāḥ aghaṭavyāvṛttaghaṭe pravṛttinimittatvena nirūpaṇāt| tatpa-(5)-ricchinattitato'nyavyavacchinatti tṛtīyaprakārābhāvañca sūcayati ityekapramāṇavyāpāra eṣaḥ|

tena aghaṭasyaiva nivṛttiriti pratītau nāyaṃ doṣa iti cet, ghaṭanivṛttyapratikṣepe niyamasyaivāsiddheḥ| tatprakṣepe tu kastato'nyo vidhiḥ, niṣedhapratikṣepasyaiva vidhitvāt iti vivakṣitamevodyotitam| yato ghaṭa sārūpyasphuraṇādevaṃ taditaranirākaraṇaṃ, tadanupalambharūpatvā diti kathitamevaṃ prathamaṃ bādhakapratyayāduttarasamayasambhavinaḥ punastadalīkatvakalpanamekeṣām|

yatpunarucyate-svarūpabheda e (8) vānyāpoho'nyāpoḍharūpatvādvidhiriti cet na alauṃkapakṣe tadabhāvāt tasya svarūpavidhānavalīkatvaprasaṅgāt| svalakṣaṇasya vikalpānarohāditi-tadapyetena dūṣitam-(9) ghaṭasārūpyasphuraṇenāghaṭanivṛttasthūlamūlavastuvidhiravibhūta eva buddhayāpyavasīyate tadūrdhvaṃ dhvaṃsate bādhakāditi ko'parādhaḥ prathamabodhasya prathamabodhāpekṣayā(10) ca idamudīryate tvayā vikalpe svalakṣaṇānārohāditi na saṅgataṃ sajātīyavijātīṃyavyāvṛttapratiṣṭhitaghaṭākārapaṭu pratyakṣāpekṣayā vastu svalakṣaṇamucyate| tadeva vastuvijātīyatvāvṛttamullikhatā vikalpena samārūpyavaśāt sāmānyalakṣaṇamadhyavasāyaṃ vikalpamityucyate-tadapi sthūlamūlasvarūpa [2] sparśādyatiriktajātyādipadārthānupalambhāt, bhede ca ghaṭādikamidānīmevaṃvidhamadhyavasīyate, ityarthamabhisaṃdhāya vikalpe svalakṣaṇametat vyāvṛttamābhātīṃtyucyate| ubhayato vyāvṛttasya hitadekasmādapi tasya vyavacchedo'stīti na hyanīlamutpalaṃ na bhavatīti bhaṇyate| tathā coktamḥ-

yathoktaviparītaṃ yat tatsvalakṣaṇamucyate|
sāmānyaṃ trividhaṃ tacca bhāvābhavobhayāśrayam||
yadi bhāvāśrayaṃ jñānaṃ bhāvo bhāvānurodhataḥ|
noktottaratvātdṛṣṭavāt, atītādiṣu cānyathā|
bhāvadharmatvahāniścedbhāvagrahaṇapūrvakam|
tajjñānamityadoṣo'yaṃ meyaṃ tvekaṃ svalalaṇam||
tasya svapara rūṣābhyāṃ gatermeyadvayaṃ matam|

vidhirapi vidhirūpatāyāmavidhi dharmatvaṃ vyavacchinnasvabhāvamapekṣamāṇaḥ kathaṃ [6] na sāpekṣaḥ|

“tataḥ pratītāvitaretarāśrayatvamuktaṃ saṅketesañcārya yatparihṛtaṃ jñānaśriyā tadetat grāmyajanadhandhīkaraṇaṃ golakādiṃvat, sthānāntarasañcārān” iti mitrapādān prati upālambho na śakyaḥ vidhisphuraṇasyaiva svīkārāt sa ca vidhiḥ śabdāt pratīyamānaḥ saṃketānusāreṇa pratyetavyaḥ, saṃketaśca nāpratīte'rthe tasmāt [8] saṅkete kathaṃ sañcārya parihṛtaḥ parasparāśrayadoṣaḥ tathā coktam

avṛkṣavyatirekeṇa vṛkṣārthagrahaṇe dvayam|
anyo'nyāśramityekagrahābhāve dvayāgrahaḥ||
saṃketāsaṃbhavastasmāditi kecitpracakṣate|
teṣāmavṛkṣāssaṃkete vyavacchinnā na vā yadi||
vyavacchinnāḥ kathaṃ jñātāḥ prāgvṛkṣagrahaṇādṛte|
anirākaraṇe teṣāṃ saṃkete vyavahāriṇām||
na syāttatparihāreṇa pravṛttivṛkṣadeśavat|
avidhāya niṣidhyānyat pradarśyaikaṃ puraḥ sthitam||
vṛkṣo'yamiti saṃketa, kriyate tat pratipadyate|
vyavahāre'pi tenāyamadoṣaḥ iti cet taruḥ||
ayamapyameveti prasaṅgo na nivartate|
eka pratyavamarśākhye jñāne ekatra hi sthitaḥ||
prapattā tadataddhetūnarthān vibhajatesvayam|
tadbuddhivartino bhāvān bhāto hetutayā dhiyaḥ||
aheturūpa vikalānekarūpāniva svayam|
bhedena pratipadyetetyuktirbhede niyujyate||

idameva paramasubhāṣitāmṛtamapi ca te sādhūriti piṣṭaṃ piṣyate [3] yatpunaratī(ti)viśaṅkarakaleva mīlanādidhana pratyayādudbhāṣitam| vidhyalīkamiti cet|”

“na vyāghātāt| kiñciditi hi vidhyarthī na kiñciditi cālīkārthaḥ| atadrūpaparāvṛttimātreṇālīkatve svala[4]kṣaṇasyāpyalīkatvāditi (prasaṃgāt)|” tadapi kaḥ spṛśantu| yathātatvamanavasāyo yathāvasāyamatattvāt| sāmvṛto vidhipratyakṣapratibhāsavidheranya evāyam| tataśca dvividho vidhiḥ pāramā [5] rthi ko yasyārthasya sannidhānā sannidhānābhyāṃ jñānapratibhāsabhedastatsvalakṣaṇaṃ asādhāraṇaṃ tattvaṃ vastutaḥ tadeva paramārthasat arthakriyāsāmarthyalakṣaṇatvā [6] dvastunaḥ| anyatsāmānyalakṣaṇa so'numānasya viṣayaḥ grāhyaviṣayabhedaścāyam| adhyavaseyaviṣayabhedastu tiryagūrdhvatātmakāni yatropayogā tadrūpaparāvṛ[7] ttaghaṭādisvabhāvaḥ svalakṣaṇamevaikato vyāvṛttamucyate utpalavat|

nāvasturūpaṃ tasyaiva tathāsiddheprasādhanāt|
anyatra nānyasiddhiścet na tasyaiva prasiddhitaḥ||
ayathābhi[8] niveśena dvitīyā bhrāntiriṣyate|
gatiścetpararūpeṇa na ca bhrānteḥ pramāṇatā||
abhiprāyāvisaṃvādādapi bhrānteḥ pramāṇatā|
gatirapyanya thā dṛṣṭā pakṣaśścāyaṃ [9] kṛtontaraḥ||

pratyakṣavikalpe ca ghaṭa eva sphurati kevalaṃ ekatra sphuṭatayā anyatrāsphuṭatayā na ca viśeṣaṇabhedena viśeṣyamapi bhidyate| tenobhayathāpi ghaṭa evāyamudayanācāryaḥ dṛśyavikalpyāvarthau ekīkṛtya vyavahārapravṛttiriti vyākhyātarambha alīkānalīkatvādiyathāruci racayanti na vyavahartāraḥ iti puruṣadvayāpekṣayā pi tu jñānasya svākāravaśādgrahaṇaṃ [2] sādhāraṇameva| anyathā hi bādhakapratyayabalāt alīkākāravikalpacalanādeva tathātva kathaṃ sthāpyaṃ tadarthākāratvañca| atha grahaṇanibandhanaṃ pratyakṣetarayoḥ samānam| parastu pāramārthi [3] kaḥ śabdajñānagṛhīto ca iti manyate tena tadabhimānasthalo'yaṃ bādhakāvatāraḥ tadevamubhayato vyāvṛttaghaṭākāraṃ jñānagrāhyaṃ grahaṇamekato vyāvṛttākāraṃ jñānaṃ grahaṇam [4]vyavasāya iti pratītidvayavyavasthā| avidyamāne'tyarthe'nubhavāvidmāvāsanāvaśagavikalpākāravaśāt grahaṇamatrāropaṇaṃ tadviṣayaścāropita ucyate| sa ca vidhirapi pratītyartho [5] pi na sambhavati, vikalpe svalakṣaṇasyānyavyāvṛttatayā saṃsparśāt virodhāt ubhayato vyāvṛttasyāpi ghaṭasya vijātīyavyāvṛttaghaṭamātragrahaṇāt sajātīyabhe-[5]-dagrahaṇa sāmarthyāt| na ca svalakṣaṇasya bhāvanāvidhitvaparihāreṇa sphuraṇam| na cālīkamapyalīkatvena tenaiva jñānena gṛhyate,

‘apramāṇāṇāmapi svārthe pramāṇamiva lakṣyate’ iti nyāyāt|

ubhayorāpi grāhakavikalpaāsthākāravilāsāt prakārāntatveṇāprathanām prathamā na rūpasambhavavācyakālpanikasyāpyaṃśa(8) bhāvasyāta eva na mūlo niṣṭhuranyāyakṣaṇaraprahāra pratyāśāparasya|

anyopohalakṣaṇaśabdārthe jātidharmmāpi kalpyamānā ekatvanityatva nityatvapratyekaparisamāptatvalakṣaṇā vya-[9]-vatiṣṭhante| abhedāśrayā vicchedāt kaścārtha (tenārtha) pratīteśca| tathāhi|

yāpyebhedānugā buddhiḥ kācidvastudvayekṣaṇe|
saṃketena vināsārtha pratyāsattinibandhanā||
pratyāsattirvinā jātyā yatheṣṭā cakṣurādiṣu|
jñānakāryeṣu jātirvā yathānveti vibhāgatḥ|

yathā tāvadabhedapratyayajananasāmagrī yadutārthamekaṃ śrāvaṇeyaṃ avalokya dvitīyaṃ cākaleyaṃ anyaṃ vā govyaktibhedamavadhārayanna bhinnapratyayavān bhavati ayamapi gaurayamapi gauriti aparāparālokane ca vardhamānā bhinnabuddhitvādvardhamā (2) naṃ sāmānyamāmnāyate abhedaśca gopiṇḍamaṇḍalānāṃ khaṇḍamuṇḍādibhede'pi vijātīyamātrābhinnārthapratīteḥ| padārthānāmeva dharmmaḥ sajātīyādapi viśeṣapratītau bheda pratītiriti vyavahāraḥ samastagopiṇḍamaṇḍalapradhvaṃsābhāvān, kālākalākalāpakalamānnityatvamapi vijātīyāpohapadārthasya sarvātmanā ca pratyekamanyāpoḍha (4) pratyaya ḍhaukanāt| pratyekaparisamāptiḥ sudṛḍhā alīkatvañca asya bādhakādhīnamiti, tadapekṣayāmi yadamunā pratītaṃ tadātadanyathākartumaśakyaṃ alīkakalpanayā vastupratibaddha(5) metat nabhavati pratyakṣapratibhāsavat, tadabhāve'pi smaraṇavadasyotpatirityeva syāt, yatratu pratibaddhā vyavasāyaprasavastatra bhāvikatvamevālīkatve'pyākārasyāpoḍhatva-(6)-sya bhāvepi bāhye bhāvāt anyopoḍhatvamevānugamaḥ, sa ca vāstavo'pi samvādāt kālpaniko pi kalpanā buddhau vivartanāt| nahi kṣaṇikābuddhirananugamāvā bāhyapadārthā (7) gamamakṣikatcaṃ vā pratyetuṃ akṣamāsmaraṇavat, yathā hi smaraṇamanatītamapi svayamatītatvaṃ smarati tathedamapi āropitastūcyate, yacca padārtho vikalpārūḍhagrāhyākārapratibhāsādgahītaḥ sa āropita ucyate, yathā bāhyārthābhāve'piṃ saṃnidhāne'saṃnidhāne vā śītārthena vahniñcintitastatra vahnirubhayavyāvṛtto nāsti vijātīyavyāvṛttastvāsti cintā sā-(9)-rūpyavaśāt pratītaḥ sa āropita ucyate asatvyāpītyapi bādhakapratyayavaśena tathātvāvasthābhedāgraho'pi vijātīyabhedapratīte sajātīyādbhedagrahaṇasāmarthyam|

tenevaṃ nirastaṃ “sādhāraṇaṃ ca rupaṃ vikalpagocaraḥ, na cālīkaṃ tathā bhavitumarhati| tasya hi deśakālānugamo na svābhāvikaḥ, tuccharūpatvāt| na kālpanikaḥ tasyākṣaṇikatvāt| nāropitaḥ anyatrā (2)pyaprasiddheḥ|

bhedāgrahādekatvamātramanusandhīyate iti cet na bhāvikasyabhedasyābhāvāt, bhāve vā kālpanikatvasya vyāghātāt| paramārthāsataḥ paramārthābhedaparyavasāyitvāt| āropitasyāgrahānupapatteḥ abhedāropānavakāśācca| āro pitāsattvasya paramārthasatveprasaṅgam catuḥkoṭivinirmuktasyāpratisañjakatvāt| tadagrahasya trailokye'pi sulabhatvāt|

anyatrāpi pāramārthikabhedapratīto kathamabheda āropyatāmiti cet evaṃ tarhi yasya pratibhāse yannāropyate niyamena tasyaivāprakāśe tadāropyaṃ na tvevannāmamātrakasyātiprasañjakatvāt| ata eva na vyadhikaraṇasyāpi sato'sato vā bhedasyāgrahī'bhedāropopayogīti|

ṭīkākāramatamavagamya kiṃmava valayitabhava anena tanmate (6) kilāropo nāma sādharmyadṛgapekṣaḥ kvaci t kasyacidupacāro rajatasyaiva śuktau vivākṣitaḥ| tato'yaṃ kugrāmavāstavya baṭujavyapetavyaḥ| jalpanīyamanalpaṃ pa (7) ryante kimapi bhaviṣyati labdhaṃ tāvat granthakārayaśaḥ ityāśayenābhihitavān| ‘nāpinyāyādapohasiddhitadabhāvādityādyapi prativihitam|

yatpunarbhāvābhāva-(8)-sādhāraṇyaṃ vikalpitaṃ na tāvat ubhayarūpatvaṃ virodhāt| na taddharmatvam anamyupagamāt| nahi gotvamabhāvasyāpi dharma ityamyupagamyate| na taddharmitvam, anekāntāt| vyakti(9)rapi hi bhābābhāvaśālinī na niṣedhaikarūpeti| na tadubhayāsādṛśyamasambhavāt| atannivṛttyaiva tathātve sādhyāviśeṣāt| nāpyasti nāsti sāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ vi (10) rodhādanyathā siddheśca| nahi yadasti tannāstīti pratyayagocaraḥ syāt| prakārāntaramāśritya syādeveti cet evaṃ tarhi tameva prakārabhedamupādāya vidhivyavasthā yāṃ ko virodhaḥ yena pratibandha siddhayet| “tasya vidhirūpatāyāmastinā kimadhikamupaneyamiti cet niṣedharūpatve'pi kimadhikamapaneyamiti samānam| ata eva sādhāraṇyamiti cet tathāpi kimetadubhayātmakamubhayaparihāro veti aśakyametat| tasmādastināstibhyāmupādhyantaropasaṃprāptiḥ prāptopādhi niyamo beti sārthakatvaṃ tayoḥ| tadetadvidhāvapi tulyam| śāntā (3) śeṣaviśeṣatvādalīkapakṣe kvopādhyantaravidhistanniyamoveti viśeṣadoṣaḥ| tato gośabdo gotvaviśiṣṭavyaktimāyābhidhāyī paryavasitaḥ| tāstu viprakīrṇadeśakālatayārthakriyā (4) rthiprārthanāmanubhavitumīśata iti pratipattā viśeṣākāṃkṣaḥ| sā ca tasyākāṃkṣāsti goṣṭhe kālākṣī dhanurghaṭoghnīmahāghaṇṭānandinīnyādibhirniyāmakai rvidhāyakairvā nivāryata iti (5) vidhau na kaściddoṣaḥ| iti| tadapi nirlakṣaṇaśaramokṣaprakhyāmīkṣyate| tathāhi vṛkṣa, śabdena vṛkṣavidhireva kṛtaḥ, satuvidhiryathā pratyakṣeṇa anupālambhātmanā vā tena (6) pratiṣedhaḥ kriyamāṇaḥ śakyate naivāsti nāstiśabdābhyāṃ sambaddhamasti niyatatvāt nāsti niyatatvādeva vā tathā kimayaṃ śabdo vidhiḥ ‘ābhyāṃ padābhyāṃ sambaddhaṃ yogyaṃ (7) upadarśyate’| tathā cedasti nāsti padasambandhasādhāraṇa upadarśitaḥ| tat sādhāraṇañcāvṛkṣavyāvṛttaṃ vā vṛkṣārthavidhāyitayā tathābhūtaścārthaḥ bāhyapadārthasya (8) abhāvaniyatasya bhāvaniyatasya vā sajātīyavyāvṛttayā tathākhyātasyānena tathākhyānābhāvātaṃ| sa ca śabdārthaḥ sādhāraṇo vā bhāvābhāvayordṛṣṭatvāt sādhāraṇaṃ tu (1)ko yathā nityāninyayordṛṣṭatvāt, prameyatvaṃ vastutvaṃ vā sādhāraṇamuktaṃ tadvat| na tu bhāvābhāvātmakatvādubhayasādhāraṇaḥ śeṣamapi kalpanaṃ aphalamanyathaiva vivakṣitatvāt| sarvasyaiva hi dharmarūpasya śābdasya tādṛśadharmmadvaye dṛṣṭatvāt| sādhāraṇyamābālamavagatam| tathāhi|

āvirbhāvatirobhāva dharmmakeṣvanuyāyivat|
taddharmmi yatrāvābuddhiḥ, jñānaṃ prāgdharmagrahaṇādbhavet||
iti bhaṭṭamatam|
ekaṃ dharmiṇamudṛśya nānādharmasamāśrayam|
vidhāvekasya tadbhājamivānyeṣāmupekṣakam||
niṣedhe tadviviktañca tadanyeṣāmapekṣakam|
trayavahāramasatyārtha prakalpayati dhīryathā|
taṃ tathevāvikalpārtha bhedāśrayamupāgatāḥ|
anādivāsanodbhūtaṃ dhāvante'rtha na laukikam||
tatphalo'tatphalaścāryo bhinna ekastatastataḥ|
taistairupaplavairnītasañcayāpayairiva||
dṛṣṭiṃ bhedāśrayaiste'pi tasmādajñātaviphlavāḥ||
iti siddhāntatatvamācāryīyamādāveva likhitam|
śabdebhyo yādṛśībuddhirnaṣṭe'naṣṭepi dṛśyate|
tādṛśyeva sadarthānāṃ naitacchobhādicetasām||

bhāvābhāvayordarśanādvikalpa prati (5) bhāsasya sādhāraṇyamuktaṃ pūrvārddhena| dvitīyārdhena aparamārthaviṣayatvasādhyadharmābhāvena sādhanadharmasya bhāvābhāvasādhāraṇyasyābhāvo darśitaḥ| śrotrādi (6)cetasi vipakṣadharmiṇi tataścāyaṃ prayogaḥ prajāyate| yaḥ pratyayo yasyārthasya bhāvābhāvasādhāraṇapratibhāsaḥ sa paramārthatastadviṣayo na bhavati| yathā (7) saṃśayapratyayapratibhāsaḥ svārthasammataḥ śarkarādyarthabhāvābhāvasādhāraṇapratibhāsaśca śarkarādivikalpapratibhāsaḥ vyatirekeṇa yaḥ paramārthataḥ (8) pratyayo yadviṣayaḥ sa tasyārthasyānvayavyatirekāvanuvidhatte| yathā madhuragāndhāradhvanibhāvābhāvānu vidhāyīśrotrabodhaḥ| śarkarālakṣaṇasvārthabhāvābhāvā (9) nuvidhāyī ca na bhavati śarkarāvikalasya pratibhāsaḥ paramārthatastadviṣayatvaṃ tadutpattisambadhanibaṃdhanaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ śrotraprarūpa pratyayapratibhāso yadi tadabhāveti (10) paramārthatastadviṣayatvaṃ syāt| tadā saṃśayaviparyāsapratyayapratibhāsasyāpi syāt na ca tayostathātvamanumanyate prāmāṇikena nāvālambanapratyayatvā bhāvādaparamatau kāraṇaṃ śakyaṃ kalpayitum| yathā go jñānaṃ tāvat viṣayaṃ aparamapi ca na yuktam|

tacca sāmānyavijñānamanurundhan vibhāvyate|
nīlādyākāralekṣo yaḥ sa tasminkena nirmitaḥ||
iti yat yat pratibhāsaṃ vijñānaṃ na bhavati na tattadviṣayaṃ vyavahartavyam| yathā go jñānaṃ aśvaviṣayaṃ na vyavahṛyate varṇakṛtyakṣarākārābhāsaṃ kalpavijñānaṃ, na varṇakṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaparasammatasāmānyapratibhāsaṃ tadviṣayatvaṃ hi pratibhāsatvena vyāptarūpābhāsasya rūpaviṣaye dṛṣṭaṃ rase (4)canopanaddhaṃ paramārthata iti viśeṣaṇāt sāṃvṛtaṃ na pāryate| paramārthaśca pratiṣṭhito bhāvasvabhāvo'rthakriyāsamarthaḥ| pratyakṣapratibhāsitaḥ sarvavyavahartṛṇāṃ hānopādānasamī (5) hāviṣayaḥ prakāśyate-

arthakriyāsamartha yattadeva paramārthasat|
anyat saṃvṛtisat proktaṃ te svasāmānyalakṣaṇe| ityarthaḥ|

tenedamasaṃlagnam ‘tadyadigovikalpasyāśvaviṣayatvameva tadbhāvāsādhāraṇyaṃ gavyapi bāhye tathā, tataḥ sādhyaviśiṣṭatvam’|

arūpādiviśeṣākā'ṅkṣā tadā'sādhāraṇyam, nahyudāhṛto govikalpo'śvāityādiviśeṣamākāṅkṣati| niyamavidhau tu virodha eva| na hyatadviṣayasya tadviśeṣaniyamākāṅkṣā nāma, gojñānasyāśvaviśeṣa niyama' kāṃkṣāprasaṅgāt| tadīyasadasatvānupadarśanaṃ cet tato'siddhirdoṣaḥ| nahi govikalpo gośvarūpaṃ nopadarśayatīti mama kadāpi siddham, tava cādyāpi| upādhya (9)ntaraṃcedanekāntaḥ| na hi yo yasya upādhyantaraṃ nopadarśayet nāsau tadapītiniyamaḥ’ iti|

punaścoktaṃ kathaṃ pūreta asya agotvavyavacchedaḥ, śabdaliṅgābhyāṃ (10) pratipādyate na viśeṣaḥ vastusvarūpayeveti pramāṇantarasya śabdāntarasya ca vṛtteḥ| tathāhi-

ekasyārthasvabhāvasya pratyakṣasya ca sataḥ svayam|
ko'nyo bhāvo na dṛṣṭaḥ syāt yaḥ pramāṇaiḥ parīkṣyate||
sahi-pratyakṣaḥ prasiddho dharmiṇi sādhanāsambhavāt| yathā pratyayatvasādhye śabdastathā pratyakṣeṇaiva siddheḥ sarvākārasiddhe tadanyasya'(2) siddhasyābhāvāt, bhāve vā na tatsvabhāvatvaṃ nahi yat..........na bhavanti sa tatsvabhāvoyuktaḥ tanmātranibandhanatvāt bhedavyavahārasya| anyathā abhāvaprasaṃgādi (3) ityuktam, tasmātpratyakṣeṇa dharmiṇi tatsvabhāvāsākalyaparicchedāt atrānavakāśaḥ pramāṇantarabuddhiḥ syāt|

“no cedbhrāntinimittena saṃyojyetaḥ guṇāntaramḥ
‘śuktau vā rajatākāro rūpasādharmyadarśanāt||

yadi dṛṣṭasarvatatvasyāpi bhrāmyaddhetoḥ niścayapratirodhinā bhrāntinimittena guṇāntarā na saṃyojyeta, yathā śuktau rajatākārau, na hi śuktau te rūpe samānaṃ viśiṣṭañca tathāpratipattiprasaṅgāt| apratipattau vā vivekena tvavikalpāyogān atiprasaṅgācca| tasmāt paśyan śuktirūpaṃ ca (6) viśiṣṭameva paśyati niścayapratyayavaikalyāt|

aniścitaṃ tava sāmānyaṃ paśyāmīti manyate’

tato'sya rajatasamāropaḥ tathā sadṛśā'rtharopi notpatte(7)ralakṣitanānātvasya bhrāntisamāropāt sthitibhrānti yā'vanto'sya parabhāvā tāvanta eva yathāsvaṃ nimittabhāvinaḥ samāropāiti tadvayavacchedakāni (8) bhavanti pramāṇāni saphalāni, teṣāntu vyavacchedaphalānāṃ tu nā pratītavastvaṃśapratyāyane pravṛttistasya dṛṣṭatvāt| phalāṃ śasya caikadeśena darśanāyogāt|

tasmāt [1]dṛṣṭasya bhāvasya dṛṣṭa evākhilo guṇaḥ|
bhrānternaniścala iti sādhanaṃ saṃ pravartate||
vastu grahe'numānācca dharmasyaikasya niścaye|
sarvadharmagraho'pohe nāyaṃ doṣaḥ pra [10] vartate|
tasmādapohaviṣayaṃ iti liṅgaṃ prakīrtitam|
anyathā dharmiṇaḥ siddhau kimataḥ sādhakaṃ param||
kvaciddṛṣṭepiyajjñānaṃ sāmānyārthavikalpakam|
asamāropitānyaṃśe tanmātrāpohagocaram||
niścitāropamanaso'rtho bādhyabādhakabhāvataḥ|
samāropaviveke'sya pravṛttiriti gamyate||
yāvantoṃśa samāropastannirāse viniścayāḥ|
tāvanta eva śabdāśca tena te bhinnagocarāḥ||
anyathaikena śabdena vyāpta ekatra vastuni|
buddhayā nānyaviṣaya iti paryāyatā bhavet||
iti svamatamupadarśya viṣayama [3] paramohahataye proktam|
yasyāpi nānopādherdhī grāhikāryasya bhedina-|
nānopādhyūpakārāṅgaṃ śaktyabhinnātmano grahe||
sarvātmanohakāryasya ko bhedaḥ syādaniścitam|
tayorātmani sambandhādeka jñāpe dvayagrahaḥ||

atmabhūtasyopādhestadvatorūpakāryopakārakabhāvasya grahaṇāt| ekajñāne dvayorapi grahaṇamiti ekopādhiviśiṣṭepi [4] tasmin gṛhyamāṇe sarvopādhīnāṃ grahaṇaṃ tadgrahaṇanāntarīyakatvādupādhikṛdgrahaṇasya| anyathā tathā na gṛhyeta| na hyanyaevānyopakārako yo na gṛhī [6] taḥ syāt| na cāpyapakārake tathā'gṛhīte tadupakāryāgrahaṇaṃ tasyāpyagrahaṇaprasaṅgāt| tasmādarthāntaropādhivāde'pi samānaḥ prasaṅgaḥ|

dharmopakāraśaktīnāṃ bhede tāstasya kiṃ yadi|
nopakārastataḥ tāsāṃ tathā syādanavasthatiḥ||
ekopakārake grāhye nopakārāstato'pare|
dṛṣṭe tasminnadṛṣṭā ye tadgrahe sakalagrahaḥ||

ityanena pāramārthikapāratantrya lakṣaṇopādhisambandhayonyasvabhāvāṅgīkāre sakalagahaḥ ekenāpi pramāṇena śabdena vā pravṛttena syāt| yadā tu

bhāve bhāvini tadbhāvo bhāva eva ca bhāvitā|
prasiddhe hetuphalate pratyakṣānupalambhataḥ||
etāvanmātratatvārthāḥ kāryakāraṇagocarāḥ|
vikalpā darśayantyarthān mithyārthā ghaṭitāniva||
bhinne kā ghaṭanā'bhinne kāryakāraṇatāpi vā|
bhāve hyayanyasya viśliṣṭau śliṣṭau syātāṃ kathaṃ na tau||
saṃyogi samavādyādi sarvametena cintitam|
anyo'nyānupakārācva na sambandhī ca tādṛśaḥ||

iti kalpitopakāryāpakārakabhā [2]ve sambandhenāyaṃ prasaṅgaḥ, kena hi kāryāṃpekṣya paścāt kāryakāraṇabhāvabhājaṃ bhāvamakalpamapi pratyakṣamīkṣate yenāyaṃ prasaṅgaḥ syāt| ata evoktam apohenāyaṃ doṣaḥ prasaṅgataiti| sūryavadevā (sūryādervā) viśvopakārisvabhāve grahe viśvagrahaḥ [3] syāt| ata e vāha-

‘yadi bhrāntinivṛnttyarthaṃ gṛhīte'nyadiṣyate’

syādetannirbhāgasya vastuno brahe ko'nyastadā na gṛhīto nāma sa tu bhrāntyā nāvadhāryate iti pramāṇāntaraṃ yadyevaṃ-tadvyavacchedaviṣayaṃ siddhaṃ tadvattato'param|

tadvayaccheda viṣayaṃ siddhaṃ tadvattato'panparam|
asamāropaviṣaye vṛtterapi ca niścayaiḥ|
yanna niścīyate rūpaṃ tatteṣāṃ viṣayaḥ katham||

yattarhi bhrāntinivṛttyarthaṃ pravṛttaṃ pramāṇāṃanyasya samāropavyavacchedaphalamiti siddhamanyāpohaviṣayaṃ tadvadanyadapi asa [5] māroparviṣaye vṛtteḥ yatrāsya samāropo na tatra niścaya iti samāropābhāve rktamāno'nyāpohaviṣayaḥ siddhaḥ, pratyakṣantu pratiṣṭhitapratibhāsavaśāt gṛhṇīta pāratantryādi svabhāvabhraṣṭhaḥ [6] akaṣṭena apakarṣitaprakṛtāvadyasaṃdohamadehamevaṃ samarthayate|

pratyakṣaṇa gṛhīte'pi viśeṣeṃśavarjite|
yadviśeṣāvasāye'sti pratyayaḥ sa pratīyate||

iti vikalpapratyayahetuścāyaṃ abhyāsa pā[7]ṭavā santi tāratamyādiḥ| yathā

parivrāṭkāmukaśunāmekasyāṃ pramadā tanau|
kuṇapaḥ kāminī bhañjamiti tisro vikalpanā||

ityādi vartikakāradarśite prasaṅge yannipuṇamasṛṇamanīṣayā dharmmā [8] na na sarpavadapaviṣavisarpaṃ sphāraphūtkāraprāyaṃ pralapitamamunā lekhitumapi (likhitumapi) urjjāmahe| maheśvarapraṇatalabthavarṇavarṇitatvena na prahasanāya prastūyate|

upādhyantaraṃ cedanekāntaḥ| na hi yo yasya [9] upādhyantaraṃ nopadarśayet nāsau tadapīti niyamaḥ| nanu niyama eva, tathāhi yanna yatsamevatadharmabodhanaṃ na tat tatsvarūpabodhanaṃ yathā govikalpaśabdauturage| tathā ca tau gavyapi nīlatvā[10]pekṣayeti vyāpakānupalabdhi dharmibodhe'pi ki dharmāṇāṃ kasyacidbodhaḥ kasyacidabodhaścetyupakārabhedānniyamaḥ syāt| upakārabhedaśca śaktibhedāt bhavet| na caiva prakṛte anavasthāprasaṅgāt| tataḥ śakternabhedāt| upakārābhede sarvopādhisahitabodhi'bodhoveti dvayī gatiriti pratibandhasi ddhiḥ|

duṣprayuktametat, upādhiṃ prakalpya mede pratiniyatasāmagrīvodhyatvasyāpi svabhāvavaicitryanibandhanatvāt, tasyāpi svakāraṇādhīnatvāt, tasyāpyanvayavyatirekasiddhatvāt tasyāpi kāryonneyatvāt iti|

yattu śakterabhedādityādi, tattadā śobheta yadi dharmimātrādhīnastadbodhamātrādhīno vā, tāvanmātrabodhasāmagrayadhīno vā yāvadupādhibhedabodhaḥ syāt, na caivam|

yayā [4] kayāpi sāmagryā jñānamutpadyatāṃ tat kiṃ pāramārthikasvarūpadvayaniṣṭhopakāryopakārakabhāvabhāgidravyaṃ dṛṣṭamiṣṭaṃ na vā, tena jñānenayadi dṛṣṭaṃ, sarvātmanā upādhibhiḥ sārdham| yadyaṃśenāpoha vi [5] ṣayatvasya svīkṛtamapāramārthikopādhyapakārayogyasvabhāvatvasya bhāvasyātadvyāvṛttiniṣṭhasya tena nirūpaṇāt nipuṇaṃ nirūpaya tāvat| grāhakajñānāpekṣayā prasaṅge datte ke [6] śe spṛṣṭa śiraśca nayasi sāmagryā vaicitryāditi tataḥ ki jñānameva sakalopādhi upakārayogyavastusvarūpamanyonyāpekṣaṃ na lakṣayasi| vastusvarūpameva cānyathākṛta (7) svabhāva eṣa jñānasya kṛtastena tatpadārthamekopādhiviśiṣṭaṃ niṣṭaṃkayati| paryantavikalpaviśvāse dantaniṣṭhoṣikāyāḥ kimetadanyat| anyavikalpālambane tu vyaktameva prakṛtadoiṣānatikra-(8)-maḥ kārakahetuprasaktiśceti yatpunarūpahāsya evaṃ upahasati|

etena bhedāddharmiṇaḥ pratītāvapi śabdaliṅgadvārā dharmāṇāṃ bhedapratītirindriya dvārāpi mā bhūta ityādikaṃ tu karṇasparśeṃ kaṭicālanamapāstam| tattadupādhyupalambhasāmagrīvirahakāle prasañjitasyeṣṭatvāt| vicitraśaktitvācca pramāṇānāṃ, liṅgasya prasiddhapratibandhapratisandhānaśaktikatvāt, śabdasya samayasīmavikramatvāt, indriyasya tu arthaśaktera pekṣaṇāt na tu sambaddho'rtha ityevaṃ pramāṇaiḥ pramāpyate, atiprasaṅgāditi-tadapi samyak pūrvavicārānatikramāt, api ca tadasyaparihāreṇa pravartateti ca dhvaneḥ ucyate| tena te syāt vyavacchede kathaṃ ca sat śabdastathāyuktaṃ anyacca niṣparihāreṇa pravartate'tiprasaṅge, tatrānyatra ca pravṛttyanujñāyāṃ tannāmagrahaṇavaiyarthyaṃ sat pravṛttinivṛtyanujñāyāñca ekacodanā, nā (2) nātva etadvacanameva syāt vyāvṛtyākhyāne tasmādavaśyaṃ śabdena vyavacchedaścodanīyaḥ| sa cābhinnastadanye vyaktijātidharmāpyasti tanniyatāsūpagamaṃ, niyatacodanaṃ jātyarthaprasādhanañca, paritya (3) jya avāntaraparikalpanaṃ anarthanirbandha eva yathākalpanamasyāyogāt| na vai vyavacchedo na kriyate, pravṛttiviṣayantu kathayanti jātirūpā, vyavacchedo'sti bhedasya nanvetāvatprayojanaṃ śabdānāmiti| (4) kiṃ tadasāmānyo nāpareṇa vaḥ| na jātirarthakriyāyogyeti pravṛttiviṣayaḥ| taddvāreṇa codite na pravṛttirapi pratyuktā, tadvat codane ca vyavadhānaṃ jātivatoḥ pravṛttiviṣayatve vyāvṛtti taccānto (5) kinneṣyate vyāvṛtteravastutvenāsādhanatvāccet tattulyaṃ jāteḥ tadvatsādhanādadoṣa iti cet tulyaṃ tadvyāvṛttimataḥ avastugrāhī ca vyāvṛttivādināṃ śābdaḥ pratyayaḥ sacitramavajātajanma kārake'pi kārakāvyavasāyī pravartayati, vastusaṃvādastu vastūtpattyā tatpratibandhesati bhavati, anyathā naivāsti vastutpatte rna bhrānteriti cet nātat pratisiddhastatastadavyavasāyāt| maṇipra [7] bhāyāṃ maṇiprabhāyāṃ maṇibhrāntidarśanena vyabhicārācca bhrānteravastusaṃvāda iti cet na yathoktenaiva vyabhicārāt| vitathapratibhāso hi bhrāntilakṣaṇaṃ tannāntarīkatayā saṃvādo na pratibhāsā-(8) pekṣī jātergrahaṇamevaṃ bhrāntigrahaṇe vā na tatra pravṛttiriti kiṃ tenānyavyāvṛtā ca kriyāyogyanīlādyarthākārapratyayaprādurbhāvāt, tadupanīte'nyapravṛtti nivṛttī samañjasa janmāno vināpi ca sā (8) mānyena prakṛtibhinneṣvartheṣu bhede cedamiti pratyabhijñānaṃ yasmāt-

jñānādyarthakriyāṃ tāṃ tāṃ dṛṣṭvā bhede'pi kurvataḥ|
arthāstadanyaviśleṣaviṣayairdhvanibhiḥ saha||
saṃyojyapratyabhijñānaṃ kuryādapya[10]sya darśane||

bhede'pi prakṛtyaiva cakṣurādivat jñānādikā arthakriyā tathānyeṣu padārtheṣu tāmeva arthakriyāmatadrūpaparāvṛtteṣu paśyato'nyāvṛttaviṣayatvavisaṃsṛṣṭaṃ tadevedamiti svānubhavavāsanāprabodhane saṃsṛṣṭabhedaṃ mithyājñānamā(ma) jāyate, anyathā bhedasaṃsargavatī buddhiḥ syāt daṇḍivat| na hyekadaṇḍadarśanenānyatra sa evāyami (2) ti bhavati, kiṃ tarhi, tadiheti| na caivaṃ pratyabhijñānaṃ kiṃ tadevedamiti, tanna tadekamanekatra paśyatopi bhedasaṃsargavat muktam| vibhramavaśāttu tathā jñānena virodhaḥ nimittābhāvādvibhramo na mukta iti cet (3) ta eva bhāvāstadekārthakāriṇo'nubhavadvāreṇa prakṛtyā vibhramakalāyā vikalpavāsanāyā hetutvānnimittaṃ| marīcikādiṣvapi hi jalādibhrāntestāvevābhinnāhāraparāmarśapratyayanimittānubhava (4) jananau bhāvau kāraṇaṃ bhinnāvapi na hi tatrānyadeva kiñcitsāmānyamasti yattathā pratīyate| sattve vā sadarthagrāhiṇī buddhirbhrāntirna syāt, abhūtākārasamāropādbhrāntitve sa evākāro'syā viṣayaḥ, (5) aviṣayasyānāropāt| sa cāroposāmānyamekakāryakārigrahaṇa iti nirarthikotpattiḥ yathāvasthitasvabhāvagrahāsāmarthyaṃ vikalpānāṃ svakāraṇapravṛtteḥ svakāra (6)ṇañca avidyāvāsanā'pi keśavibhramasyeva timiraṃ tena|

astīyamapi yā tvantarupaplavasamudbhavā||
doṣodbhavā prakṛtyā sa vinayapratibhāsinī|
anapekṣitasādharmyadṛgādistimirādivat||
parasyāpi na sā buddhiḥ sāmānyādeva kevalāt|
nityaṃ tanmātravijñāte vyaktyajñānaprasaṅgataḥ|
ekavastusahāyāścedvayaktayo jñānakāraṇam|
tadekaṃ vastu kiṃ tāsāṃ nānātvaṃ[4] samapohati|
nānātvāccaikavijñānahetutā tāsunekṣyate||
atha vaikalyaṃ jananavirodhitenatatsāhitye jananaṃ cet
anekamapi yayekamapekṣyābhinnabuddhikṛt|
tābhirvināpi pratyekaṃ kriyamāṇāṃ dhiyaṃ prati||
tenaikenāpi sāmarthya tāsāṃ netyagraho dhiyā|

atha yathā nīlādiṣu ekāpāye'pi cakṣurvijñānaṃ bhavatīti na samūhe'pi teṣāmasāmarthyam| tathehāpi pratye (10) kāṣāye bhavatīti na sarvvadā'sāmarthyam| na,

nīlādernetra-vijñāne pṛthaksāmarthyadarśanāt|
śaktisiddhiḥ samūhe'pi naivaṃ vyakteḥ kathañcana||

na hi vyaktayaḥ sāmānyarahitā anvayijñānajanane dṛṣṭaśaktayaḥ tato na tāstatra samarthā iti na tena gṛhyeran|

tāsāmanyatamāpaikṣyaṃ taccecchaktaṃ na kevalam||
tadekamukuryustāḥ kathamekāṃ dhiyañca na|

pūrvakasahakārivicārātsāmānyamupakāryamāsāṃ prāptaṃ sāmānyāntaramivāpekṣiṇāṃ ka āsāṃ pratibandhodhiyamādhātumekānto hi tena vinotpannā mithyā svaviṣayādṛte| iti mithyā (2) tvamāśaṅkya mānasavivādā uktameva bauddhadhiyām| tathā

dharmiṇo naikarūpasya nendriyātsarvathā gatiḥ|
svasaṃvedyamanirdeśyaṃ rūpamindriyagocaraḥ||
sarvato vinivṛttasya vinivṛttiryato yataḥ|
tadbhedonnītabhedā sā dharmiṇo'nekarūpatā||
te kalpitā rūpabhedā nirvikalpasya cetasaḥ|
na vicitrasya citrābhāḥ kādācitkasya gocaraḥ||
yadyapyasti sitatvādi yādṛgindrayagocaraḥ| [5]
na so'bhidhīyate śabdairjñānayorūpabhedataḥ|
ekārthatve'pi buddhīnāṃ nānāśrayatayā sa cet|
śrotrādi cintānīdārnī bhinnārthānīti tatkutaḥ||
jāto nāmāśrayo'nyonyaḥ cetasāṃ tasya vastunaḥ|
ekasyaiva kuto rūpaṃ bhinnākāravabhāsitat||

cakṣuliṅgañca śabdañcāśritya yadi citrācitrābhāsatvaṃvikalpanirvikalpakacetasorbhavati| tarhi tayorekaviṃṣayatvaṃ kathamastu paramārthataḥ athaika paramārthaviṣayamaparaṃ timirakāmalābalādiva śukle pītādyābhāsadhāyino'vidyādyaparapratyayāditaḥ sarvato vinivṛtte'kha'ḍātmani (8) vivakṣitārthakriyāhetopratiniyatānyavyāvṛttadharmmadharmibhāvalabdhakhaṇḍatvānarthakriyāsamarthapratibhāsavikalpakāriṇaḥ samutpannamaparamārthaviṣayakāraṇaṃ kāraṇabhedāt prati (9) bhāsabhedācca samarthyatāmityuktau kledaṃ sambadhyate|

citrācitrapratibhāsābhyāṃ mitho viruddhābhyāmekanīlaviṣayābhyāmanaikāntāt| na rhi citrādhyakṣe yannīlaṃ cakāsti tadeva vā puruṣāntarasya yenākāreṇaikaviṣayatvaṃ tayo rna tenaiva virodho, yena ca virodho na tenaikaviṣayatvam, dharmāntarākāreṇa virodho nīlamātrākāreṇa cai kaviṣayateti cet-nanvihāpi dharmāntarākāreṇa virodho gotvavatpiṇḍamātrākāreṇa ekaviṣayateti tāvanmātranirākaraṇe'siddho hetuḥ| pūrvatra siddhasādhanam| na hi śābdalaiṅgikavikalpakāle deśa (2) kālaniyamādayo'pi sarva eva dharmaviśeṣā viṣayabhāvamāsādayantītyabhyupagacchāmaḥ” nirvāhabhraṃśarūpe na hyavyaktamuktavato pi prameyānusaraṇenānistaraṇameva bhavataḥ dharmmidharmatayā citrateha vivakṣitā sā kathamanekāntā| citrābhyāṃ nīlābhyāṃ tayaurnirvikalpakaṃ cet gaurarthakriyāsamarthapratiṣṭhitaṃ nīlapratibhāsayoḥ vikalpakā niyatapratibhāsavikalpena saha kathaṃ savyetaranayanadṛṣṭavadekaviṣayatvaṃ sphuṭāsphuṭāsphuṭamapi sannihitāsannihitatayā nīlasya grahaṇaṃ tatrāsannihitatayā deśakālābhyāṃ vikalpakamavaiti deśādisannihitatayā nirvikalpakam|

dūrāsannādi bhedena vyaktāvyaktaṃ na yujyate|
tasyādālokabhedāccet tatpidhānāpidhānayoḥ||
tulyā dṛṣṭiraduṣṭirvā sūkṣmo'śastasya kaścana|
ālokena ca mandena dṛśyate'to bhidā yadiṃ||
ekatve'rthasya vāhyasya dśyādṛśyabhidā kutaḥ|
anekatve'ṇuśobhinne dṛśyādṛśyabhidā kutaḥ|
māndyapāṭavabhedena bhāso buddhibhidā yadi|
bhinne'nyasminabhinnasya kuto bhedena bhāsanamḥ|
mandaṃ tadapi tejaḥ kimāvuteriha sā na kim|
tanutvaṃ tejaso'pyetadastyanyatrāpyatānavam||
atyāsanne ca suvyaktaṃ tejastat syādatisphuṭām|
tatrāpyadṛṣṭamāśritya bhavedrūpāntaraṃ yadi ?||
anyo'nyāvaraṇātteṣāṃ syāttejo vihatistataḥ
tatrekameka dṛśyeta tasyānāvaraṇe sakṛt||
paśyetsphuṭāsphuṭaṃ rūpameko'dṛṣṭena vāraṇe|
arthānarthau na yena stastaddṛṣṭaṃ karoti kim||

adṛṣṭaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ vā kāraṇaṃ kalpyatāmekatve bāhyasya sphuṭāsphuṭaghaṭanāpāṭavāpalāpāt| pratyayasya pratiniyatākāritaiva prāptakālā| anyathā jaya (10) parājayādivyavasthāvādināṃ viparyasyet| adṛṣṭavaśājjayaḥ parājayatayā pariṇataḥ parājayo pi jayatayeti śakyamabhidhātum|

tasmātsaṃvit yathāhetu jāyamānārthasaṃśrayāt|
pratibhāsabhidāṃ dhatte śeṣāḥ kumatidurnayāḥ||

yathā ‘nanu dharmiṇyeva sphuṭāsphuṭapratibhāsabhedaḥ na kathañcit| yathā yathā hi dharmāḥ pratibhānti tathā tathā sphuṭārthapratibhāna vyavahāra” ityādi, dharmmadharmmitayā hi pratibhāsanaṃ deśakālābhyāṃ asaṃnihitatayā kalpanamasphuṭapratibhānamāropitārthatvādityasakṛduktaṃ paramārthatastadviṣayatā neṣyate| sāmvṛtī tu jaga (3)dgītāstyevātaḥ parāmarśāvatāraḥ, tattvadarśinaḥ samvādopi sthūlaparāmarśinā tadrūpaparāvṛttanīlaviṣayaḥ, avāntaraparāmarśena sajātīyaparāvṛttānekanīlagocaraḥ sadvastutvādayo (4) kriyāmātranibandhanā vyapadeśāstasyaiva nīlasya śliṣṭāḥ svabhāvantaratā spṛśaḥ tadvāreṇāpyabādhanaṃ gṛhītasambandhānusandhānadvāreṇa śabdaliṅgaṃ lakṣitā pratītirūtprekṣākā-(5)-ratayā parokṣaviṣayā antasambandhena vā purovartinivṛttervyaparokṣaviṣayā na tayo rapi tatvata eka viṣayatā sāṃvṛtabodhasvīkrāre kva pratītirbādhānupalambhakukṣau (6) kṣiptatvādupādhicakrasya na śakyaṃ śakrasyāpi taddvāreṇa saṃdigdhānaikāntikatvaṃ kīrtayitum|

jñānamindriyabhedena paṭumandāvilādikām|
pratibhāsabhidāmarthe vibhradekatra dṛśyate||
arthasyābhinnarūpatvāt ekarūpaṃ bhavenmanaḥ|
sarva tadarthamarthāccet tasya nāsti tadābhatā||
arthāśrayeṇodbhavatastadrūpamanakurvataḥ|
tasya kecidaṃśena parato'pi bhidābhavet||
tadā hyāśritya pitaraṃ tadrūpo'pi sutaḥ pituḥ|
bhedaṃkenacidaṃśena kutaścidavalambate||
mayūracandrakākāraṃ nīlalohitabhāsvaram|
sampaśyanti pradīpādermaṇḍalaṃ mandacakṣuṣaḥ||
tasya tadvāhyarūpatve kā prasannekṣaṇe'kṣamā|
bhūtaṃ paśyaṃśca taddarśī kathaṃ copahatendriyaḥ||
śodhitaṃ timireṇāsya vyaktañcakṣuratīndriyam|
paśyato'nyākṣadṛśye'rthe tadavyaktaṃ kathaṃ punaḥ||
ālokākṣamanaskārādanyasyaikasya gamyate|
śaktirhetustato nānyo'hetuśca viṣayaḥ katham!||

ityanyasyopādhigrahasya tadvato cānanvayavyatirekādhyāsāt, tatkathaṃ taddvāreṇāpi pratibhāsabhedo bhāvīti dharmādupādhīnāmativi jñānasadbhāvāt|

vastudharmatayaivārthāstādṛgvijñānakāraṇam|
bhede'pi yatra tajjñānaṃ tāṃstathā pratipadyate||
jñānānyapi tathā bhede'bhedapratyavamarśane|
ityatatkrāryaviśleṣasyānvayo naikavastunaḥ||
vastūnāṃ vidyate tasmāt tanniṣṭhā vastuni śrutiḥ|
bāhyaśaktivyavacchedaniṣṭhabhāve'pi tacchrutiḥ||
vikalpapratibimbeṣu tanniṣṭheṣu nibadhyate|
tato'nyāpohaniṣṭhatvāduktānyāpohakṛtśrutiḥ||

‘bāhyaśakti’ ityādi ślokapūrvvabhāgaḥ pramāṇasya bādhakasya sūtra [3] kaḥ, ‘vikalpa pratibimbeṣvityādi prakāśya dṛśyavikalpāvartho ekīkṛtya vyavahārapravṛtterityevamarthaḥ saṃketādikāraṇasya|

vyatirekīva yajjñāne bhātyarthaṃ pratibimbakam|
śabdāttadapi nārthātmā bhrāntiḥ sā vāsanodbhavā||
tasyābhi dhāne śrutibhirartheko'śo'vagamyate|
tasyāgatau ca saṅketakriyāvyarthā tadarthikā||
śabdo'rthāśa kamāheti tatrānyāpoha ucyāta|
ākāraḥ sa ca nārthe'sti taṃ vadannarthabhāka katham|
śabdasyānvayinaḥ kāryamarthenānvayinā sa ca|
ananvayī dhiyo'bhedāt darśanābhyāsanirmitaḥ|
tadrūpāropagatyānyathāvṛttādhigateḥ punaḥ|
śabdārtho'rthaḥ sa eveti vacana na virudhyate||

iti bādhakapratyayavaśāt atadrūpavyāvṛttavirodhe'pi śabdasyārtho'poha kathyate| sa ca vidhi pratītyanantaraṃ vidhiguṇatvena pratibhāti| anbayavyatirekābhyāṃ lokavyavahāra pravṛtteḥ| yathā ca tatparicchinatti ityādi [2]

kkacinniveśanāyārthe vinivartya kutaścana|
buddheḥ prayujyate śabdastadarthasyāvadhāraṇāt|
vyartho'nyathā prayogaḥ syāt tajjñeyādi padeṣvapi||
vyavahāropanīteṣu vyavacchedo'sti kaścana|
nivaśanaṃ ca yo yasmāt bhidyate vinivartyatam|
tadbhede bhidyamānānāṃ samānākārabhāsini|
sa cāyamanyavyāvṛtyā gamyate tasya vastunaḥ||
kaścit bhāga iti prokto rūpaṃ nāsyāpi kiñcana|
tadgatāveva śabdebhyo gamyate'nyanivartanam||
na tatra gamyate kaścidviśiṣṭaḥ kenacitparaḥ|
na cāpi śabdo dvayakṛdanyo'nyābhāva ityasau||
arūporūpavattvena darśanaṃ buddhiviplavaḥ|

iti vyaktamuktamapoho vyāvṛttimātramuttarakālaṃ śabdārthaḥ pratīyate| pratīyata itisādhvevoktaṃ

śabdaistāvanmukhyamākhyāyāte'rtha,
statrāpohastadguṇatvena gamyaḥ|
arthaścaiko'dhyāsato bhāsato'nyaḥ,
sthāpyo vācyastattvato naiva kaścit||
etāvatyarthe vivakṣite svavodhavaidhuryaṃ bodhayannāha-
varṇakṛtyakṣarākāra śūnyaṃgotvaṃ hivarṇyate||

iti etāvatyarthe vivakṣite svabodhavaidhuryaṃ bodhayannāha-‘yadapyatyantavilakṣaṇānāmityādi, tadapi sandigdhānaikāntikamm vidhināpi tathābhūtena sālakṣaṇyavyavahārasya nirvāhāt tathāhi ayaṃ vyavahāro na nirnimittaḥ, nāpyaneka nimittaḥ nāpyanekāsaṃsargyekanimittaḥ atiprasaṅgāt| tatau'neka saṃsaryekanimittaḥ pariśiṣyate ityādi, tadapi

varṇākṛtkṣarākāra śūnyaṃ gotvaṃ hivarṇyate|

varṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnya (3) sāmānyam, (2) bahulābhisandhau dhautādhautamūlakasamānasatyatāvṛttāntapāmarasyāpi na lakṣyate ko hi viśeṣo'bhāvo'pohaḥ samastavarṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaṃ vā sāmānyaṃ atadrūpaparāvṛtta nī (4) lākāravikalpena pratītiviśeṣo'dhyavasāyaśabdārthaḥ vācyaḥ, pravṛtteraśeṣāyā aṅgamityuktau, ko'yamadhyavasāyaḥ kimalīkasya vastutayā'vabhāsaḥ kiṃ cāvasthātmakatayā tato bhe(5)dāgraho vā vastuvāsanāsamutthatvaṃ vetyādyanabhimatamukhyo'pya prastutabandhabandhutāpratānaḥ, arthasārūpyamasya pramāṇaṃ tadvaśādarthapratītasiddheḥ dṛśyavikalpyāva-(6) rthāvekīkṛtya vyavahārapravṛtteḥ pramāṇaphalavyavasthātrāpi pratyakṣavadityādivacanāt nīlākārādviśiṣṭatadviśeṣagrahaḥ| atadrūpaparāvṛttanīlākārā tanmātragrahaṇamiti vyavasthā (7) yāṃ “nāpiviṣayasārūpyaṃ, (tadabhāvān) kā hi paramārthasadalīkarūpayoḥ samāna rūpatā nāme tyādi guḍagorasayorekatākaraṇaṃ kvopayuktam| bādhakapratyayāddhi tadalīkatvaṃ kiṃ prāgā (8) ropya cintā kriyate śeṣaśca doṣo'bhimānasyaiva cintyatvādityādirajatapratītiparāmarśādgataḥ| yadi rajataṃ kiṃ vācyam| tasmādbhāvābhāvasādhāraṇapratibhāsa(9)..........sādhakena vidheḥ pratyayāntareṇāstīti vā sthāpyo nāstīti bādhakena āśaṅkitasyāropitasya vā pratibaṃdho deśādipratiṣedhe prītiprasiddhameva|

deśakālanisiddhaścet yathāsti sa niṣidhyate|
na tathā na yathā so'sti tathāpi na ni[10]ṣidhyate||

yat tu jñānasārupyāt ka.....pravṛttiriti prastutya sphurita eva pravartayanīti tatsiddhameva sādhyate| yato jñānasārūpyamanumānasiddhamiṣya (1) te| sa cāvasthātuṃaparokṣarūpājñānāntargatāpyanumānena siddhā| ahaṃkārāspadagrāhakākāraparāmarśāntargatatvāt bāhyabhūtā sphuritaśabdavācyā|

sārūpyāt bhrāntito vṛttirarthe cetsyānna sarvadā|
deśabhrāntiśca na jñāne tulyamutpattito dhiyaḥ||
tathā vidhāyāḥ, anyatra tatrānupagamād dhiyaḥ|
bāhya'rthapratibhāsāyā upāye vā'pramāṇatā||

....vasthā svabhāvabāhyamākārā paravyapadeśatā parokṣatārūpa prakāśātmakānahaṃkārasya ca nīlabhāvādeva ca tathokta tadrūparāvṛttiviṣayābuddhi svahetorālocyate prava........................śuktau rajataśuktivad tenedamapi nirdalitam|

yathā tathā'yathārthatve'pyanumānatadābhayoḥ|
arthakriyānurodhena pramāṇatvaṃ suvyavasthitam||
grāhakākāravikṣiptā nīlamevetaditi sphurat|

tasmādvāhyasiddhiśca sākāraṃ ca jñānamiti bālaloluptva miti parihāsa paritārpi paratāpitahṛdayavyaktāvyaktādyutpattijñāne nīlamajñānaṃ na kriyopalakṣitasvarūpavyava-(9)-hāratvamupāyamiti tat upādhi nīlamanahaṃkārakalitamābhāsane meyabāhyatā bhāsate jñānarūpākhyaṃ anumāne neti| prathamaprāmāṇikavacanameveti lakṣaṇairūpalakṣyate...............ṣṭā sati (10)vi heturati dviyo-

buddheraskhalitāvṛttirmukhyāropitayoḥ sadā|
siṃhe māṇavake tadvad ghoṣaṇāpyasti laukikī||
yatra rūḍhayā'sadartho'pi janaiḥ śabdo niveśitaḥ|
sa mukhyastatra tatsāmyād gauṇo'nyatra skhaladgati||
yathābhāve'pyabhāvākhyāṃ yathākalpanameva vā|
kuryādaśakte vā pradhānādi śrurtiṃ janaḥ||
yadapyanvayi vijñānaṃ śabdavyaktyavabhāsitat|
varṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaṃ gotvaṃ hi varṇyate||
jātiśced geha eko'pi māletyucyeta vṛkṣavat|
mālāvahutve tacchabdaḥ kathaṃ jāterajātitaḥ||

ananyahetutā tulyā sā mukhyābhimateṣvayi|
padārthaśabdaḥkaṃ hetumanyaṃ ṣaṭkaṃ samīkṣate||
yo yathā ruḍhitaḥ siddhastatsāmyāt yastathocyate|
mukhyo gauṇaśca bhāveṣvapyabhāvasyopacārataḥ||
saṃketānvayinī rūḍhirvakturicchanvayī ca saḥ
kriyate vyavahārārtha chandaḥ śabdāṃśanāmavat||
vikalpasaṃskāra mātrāśrayasamudbhavaḥ||
bāhya hetvāśrayāt sākṣātsaṃbhavāddheturodhakaḥ|
sambandha bodhiśabdo vā tadvodho vāpi bodhayet|
