atheha prakāśasahopalambhādisādhanabalena jaḍapadārtharāśāvapāste nīlapītādyaśeṣapadārthajāte ca svacittapratibhāsātmani svapnamāyādivadadvayarūpe siddhe santānāntarasadasattānirūpaṇārthamidamārabhyate |



evaṃ hi kecidāhuḥ | astyeva santānāntaramanumānapratītam | tathā hīcchācittasamanantaravyāhāravyavahārābhāsasya darśanāt tadabhāve cādarśanādupalambhānupalambhasādhanamanvayavyatirekaśarīramicchācittena saha vyāhārādyābhāsasya kāryakāraṇabhāvamātmasantāne'vadhāryecchācittasyāpratisaṃvedanasamaye'pi vicchinnavyāhārādyābhāsadarśanāt tatkāraṇabhūtamicchācittamanumīyamānaṃ santānāntarameva vyavatiṣṭhata iti |



atredamālocyate | tadicchācittaṃ vyāhārādyābhāsasya kāraṇatayā vyavasthāpyamānamanumāturdarśanayogyamatha dṛśyādṛśyaviśeṣaṇānapekṣamicchāmātram | yaditāvadādyovikalpastadānumāturdarśanayogyatvādicchācittasyānumānakāle'nupalabdhirabhāvameva gamayatītyanupalambhākhyapratyakṣabādhitatvāt kvānumānāvakāśastasya | yadi punaricchācittamanumānakāle'pyanubhūyeta, tadā kimasyānumānena | athaivamagnidhūmayostadutpattisiddhyanantaraṃ naganikuñje dhūmamupalabhamāno nāgnimapyanuminuyāt, tatrāpyagneranupalabdhibādhitatvāt, upalambhe cānumānavaiphalyāt | naivam, anumānasamaye deśaviprakarṣavato vahnerdarśanāyogyatvena dṛśyānupalabdhivirahāt, adṛśyānupalambhasya cābhāvasādhanatvavirodhāt | icchācittasya tu nāsti deśaviprakarṣaḥ | icchācittaṃ hi svasaṃbaddhamevānumāturdarśanayogyam, tasya ca deśādiviprakarṣa ityalaukikametat |



atha dvitīyo vikalpaḥ | tathā hīcchācittamātraṃ svaparasantānasādhāraṇadṛśyādṛśyaviśeṣaṇānapekṣaṃ vyāhārādyābhāsaṃ prati kāraṇatayāvadhāryate | tadavadhāraṇaṃ kena pramāṇena | vyāhārādyābhāsasya hīcchāmātrābhāve'bhāvaṃ pratītya tadutpattisiddhigaveṣaṇā | na cecchāmātrasya svaparasantānasādhāraṇasya svasaṃvedanenānyena vābhāvaḥ śakyāvagamaḥ | yathā hi vahnimātrasya deśakālavyavahitasyāpi dhūmotpādadeśakālayoryadi syādupalabhyetaiva mayeti saṃbhāvitasyānumātṛpuruṣendriyapratyakṣeṇadhūmotpādāt prāgabhāve'vadhāryamāṇastadutpattisiddhimadhyāsayatīti vyavahitadeśakālasyāpi vahnerdhūmamātraṃ prati kāraṇatvāvadhāraṇam, svabhāvaviprakṛṣṭasya tu jaṭharabhavādisādhāraṇasya sarvathānumātṛpuruṣāśakyābhāvapratītikasya vyāptibahirbhāva eva | tathātrāpīcchācittaṃ parasantānasādhāraṇamapi yāvadyadīya syādupalabhyetaiva mayeti yadi saṃbhāvayituṃ śakyeta tadā tadvyatirekasiddhidvāreṇa kāraṇatayāvadhāryate | kevalaṃ svabhāvaviprakṛṣṭe cittamātre'stamiteyaṃ katheti ||



na ca paracittaṃ kālaviprakṛṣṭaṃ vartamānatvādasya, atītānāgatayoreva kālaviprakṛṣṭatvena vyavahārāt |



nāpi deśaviprakṛṣṭam, yasminneva hi śuklaśaṅkhādideśe svacittaṃ śuklākārapratibhāsi svasaṃvedanena vedyate taddeśavartyeva pītākārapratibhāsi parasantānabhāvi cittaṃ na vedyate | tat kathameṣa deśaviprakarṣaḥ ||



athecchācittamātraṃ svasaṃvedanamātrāpekṣayā na svabhāvaviprakṛṣṭam | na hyagnirapyeko yenaivendriyavijñānena dṛśyate tenaivānyo'pi dṛśyam | tatra yathā cakṣurvijñānamātrāpekṣayā agnimātraṃ dṛśyamiti vyavasthāpyate tathātrāpi svasaṃvedanamātrāpekṣayā icchācittamātraṃ svaparasantānasādhāraṇamapi dṛśyameveti |



atrocyate | kimatra mātraśabdenānumātṛpuruṣasaṃbandhāsaṃbandhābhyāmaviśeṣitaṃ yasya kasyacit puruṣasyendriyajñānaṃ vastuviṣayīkurvāṇamasya dṛśyatāsaṃbhave'pinānimitamabhimatam | yadyevaṃ piśācādirapi dṛśyaḥ syāt | so'pi hi kasyacit puṃso yogyādeḥ svajātīyasya vā piśācāntarasya bhavatyevendriyajñānagocara iti na kaścit svabhāvaviprakṛṣṭaḥ syāt | tasmādanumātṛpuruṣasaṃbandhitvamanapāsya vijñānasya svalakṣaṇādibhedanirāsapara eva mātraśabdo yuktaḥ | etadevāśaṅkaya dharmottareṇābhihitam -



ekapratipattrapekṣaṃ cedaṃ pratyakṣalakṣaṇam |



ityādi | tenaivaṃ dṛśyatāsaṃbhāvanā yadīha deśe kāle vā syād ghaṭādirniyamenopalabhyeta, madīyasya cakṣurvijñānamātrasya viṣayībhavediti | paracitte tu na śakyamevam | yadīha paracittaṃ syāt niyamena madīyasya svasaṃveda(na) mātrasya viṣayi syāditi ||



yadi cecchācittamātraṃ tadutpattigrahaṇasamaye dṛśyatayā saṃbhāvayitavyam, tadānumānakāle'pi dṛśyatayā saṃbhāvya tadanupalambhenābhāvasādhane kathamanumānaṃ pravartayitumidamārabdham, pratyakṣeṇaiva pakṣabādhāt | na ca kālabhedena svabhāvaviprakarṣetarāviti yatkiñcidetat | tasmādicchācittamātrasya svaparasantānasādhāraṇasya dṛśyatayā saṃbhāvayitumaśakyatvāt vyahārādyutpādāt prāganupalambhe'pyabhāvasiddhau na tadabhāvaprayukto vyāhārādyabhāvaḥ pratīyata iti kathaṃ kāraṇatvasiddhiryataḥ kāryahetudvāreṇānumīyeta | icchācittaviśeṣastu svasantānabhāvī na bhavatyevānumāturdṛśyaḥ | kiṃ tu tasya dṛśyānupalambhājjijñāsitaviśeṣe dharmiṇi bādhitasya kathamanumānamityuktameva ||



tadevamicchācittaviśeṣe svasantānabhāvini sādhye pakṣasya pratyakṣabādhaḥ, icchācittamātre'pi svaparasantānasādhāraṇe sādhye yadyanupalambhamātreṇa dṛśya viśeṣaṇānapekṣeṇa pratibandhasiddhisamaye tasyābhāvaḥ pratīyate, tadā pakṣīkṛte dharmiṇi tatheti sa eva doṣaḥ | atha na pratīyate tadā sandigdhavyatireko hetvābhāso vyāhārādiriti sthitam |



evaṃ tarhi santānāntarasādhakasyābhāvād bādhakasyāpi kasyacidadarśanādbhavatu tatra sandeha eveti kecit | tairidaṃ bādhakamabhidhīyamānamavadhīyatām | yadi hi santānāntaraṃ saṃbhavet tadā tato bhedena svasantānasyāvaśyaṃ bhavitavyam | anyathā svasantānādapi prakāśamānāttasya parasantānābhimatasya bhedo na syāt | na cābhedastayoriti svasantānād bhedābhedābhyāmabādhyasya parasantānasya sāmānyaśaśaviṣāṇādivadabhāva evāyāta iti kathaṃ sandehaḥ | tasmāt parasantānāpekṣayā svasantānasya bhedo'pyavaśyambhāvyaḥ | sa ca bhedaḥ santānasya svabhāvaḥ svasantāne pratibhāsamāne niyamena pratibhāseta | kathamaparathā pratibhānāpratibhānalakṣaṇaviruddhadharmādhyāse'pi svasantānasya parasantānād bhedaḥ svabhāvatāmāsādayet ||



na cāsau bhedaḥ pratibhāsate | bhedapratibhāse hi upagamyamāne tadavadhibhūtasyāpi parasantānasya pratibhāso durapahnavaḥ syāt |



asmādbhinnamitīdaṃ cet svarūpaṃ svasya cetasaḥ |

sāvadherasya bhāsaḥ syānna vā grāhyaṃ tadātmanā ||

bhede'nyaleśamapi naiti kuto bhinnaḥ |



evamādikamaśeṣamiha pravacanapradīpaśrīsākārasaṅgrahādivacanamanusmaryatām |



yathā hi svasantānamātre parisphurati śaśaviṣāṇādasphurato na bhedaḥ pratibhāti tathā parasantānādapi sphuraṇavirahiṇo na bhātyeva bhedaḥ | na hi parasantānāpekṣayā kaścid viśeṣaleśaḥ svasantānasya parisphurati yo nāsti śaśaviṣāṇāpekṣayā | na ca śaśaviṣāṇaparasantānāvapekṣya samāne svasantānapratibhāse śaśaviṣāṇāpekṣayā na bhedo nāpyabhedaḥ pratibhāti | parasantānāpekṣayā tu bheda eva bhātītyevamavasthāpayituṃ śakyam |



bhedābhedayorabhāvaparihāreṇa hi yathā bhedo vyavasthitaḥ tadvad bhedapratibhāso'pi bhedābhedābhāvapratibhāsavilakṣaṇa evocito bhavitum, na ca tathānubhūyate | tathāpi bhedaḥ pratibhātīti vacanaracanametat | bhāṣyakāranyāyo'pyatra bhedapratibhāsadūṣaṇe vistarato'vagantavyaḥ ||



yadi cāvadhipratibhāsavirahe'pi bhedapratibhānamidaṃ paracittānu(kampayā) kṣamitavyaṃ (tarhi) bahirarthasyāpi kathamabhāvaḥ sidhyati | śakyaṃ hi tatrāpi sandehamavatārayitum, na bahirarthaḥ kasyacidābhāsate, parasantānastu parasya pratibhāsata eva, tataścātraiva sandeho na bahirartha iti cet | etadapi sakalaṃ sandigdhameva | na hyavaśyaṃ parasantānaḥ parasyābhāsate, kadācidasau nāstyeva na cāsāvavabhāsata ityapi vaktuṃ śakteḥ |



kiṃ ca mā nāma bhāsīṣṭa bahirarthaḥ kasyacidapi tathāpi kathaṃ tadabhāvasiddhirbhedapratibhāsābhyupagamavādina itīyanmātramiha vivakṣitam | na cātra kaścid doṣaḥ | tasmād bahirarthena sādhāraṇaṃ santānāntaramiti kathaṃ vijñaptivādināmapi saṃmataṃ bhaviṣyati | kiṃ ca kāryakāraṇabhāvo'pi vijñānadvayasya bhedapratibhāsavādinā bādhitumaśakyaḥ | pūrvabhāvinī hi saṃvittiḥ parasaṃvittyapekṣayā bhedaṃ pūrvatvaṃ cātmano gṛhṇātyevāvadhipratibhāsavigame'pi ||



parabhāvinyapi saṃvittiḥ pūrvasaṃvittyapekṣayā bhedaṃ paratvaṃ cātmano'dhigacchatyeva santānāntaravaditi niyatapūrvāparabhāvalakṣaṇe kāryakāraṇabhāve'vabhāsamāne'vasīyamāne ca nīlādicitrākāravat katham



saṃvṛttyāstu yathā tathā



iti bhagavato vārtikakārasya vacanena phalitamatra mate | api ca citrākāracakre dharmiṇyadvaitasādhanārthamupanyastasya prakāśamānatvādihetorbhedagrāhakapratyakṣāpahṛtaviṣayatvamudbhāvayataḥ prativādino bhedagrahaṇamanumanyamānena santānāntarasandehaṃ ca vinā kathamuttaritavyaṃ bhavatā ||



nanvevamapi santānāntarābhāvaḥ kena pramāṇena siddhaḥ | na tāvat pratyakṣeṇa, tasya vidhiviṣayasya pratiṣedhasādhanātadhikārāt | nāpyanumānena, tasya dṛśyābhāvasādhananiyatasyātīndriyaparacittābhāvasādhane'navatārāditi cet | atra brūmaḥ | santānāntarasaṃbhave niyatabhāvaḥ tatao bhedaḥ svacittasya | abhede svasantānāt parasantāna eva syāt | yathā ca yadupalabhyamānaṃ yenaṃ rūpeṇa na bhāsate na tat tena rūpeṇa sadvyavahārayogyaṃ yathā nīlaṃ pītarūpeṇa | nopalabhyate ca svacittamupalabhyamānaṃ parasantānād bhinne(na)rūpeṇeti bhedasya svacittatādātmyaniṣedhe dṛśyaviśeṣaṇaprayogānapekṣā svabhāvānupalabdhiriyam ||



nāpyasiddhiḥ, bhedapratibhāse tadavadherapi pratibhāsaprāpteḥ | avadhyapratibhāse tu bhedapratibhāsābhāvaḥ śaśaviṣāṇabhedapratibhāsābhāvavat siddha eva | evamanena pramāṇena santānāntarasya svacittāpekṣayā bhede pratikṣipte abhede ca svayamevāsaṃbhavini bhedābhedābhyāmavācyatvaṃ siddham | sāmānyādivad vastutāpahatiriti, kathaṃ bādhakābhāvāt santānāntare sandeho'bhidhīyate | etacca śāstrīyaprameyasmāraṇamātraphalaṃ kiñcillikhitamiti | paramiha svayamanusandheyam |



api ca santānāntare tāvadarvāgdṛśāṃ sandeho bhavadbhiranumanyate | bhagavatastu kimavasthāpyatām | saṃdehāvasthāpane kathaṃ sarvajñatā | vidyamānameva kadācit santānāntaraṃ bhagavatā nāvadhāryate tathāpyasau sarvajña iti kathametat | anumānaṃ ca santānāntaraviṣayaṃ prāgeva cintitam | na cānumānena pratītāvapi sarvajñatā bhavitumarhati | pratyakṣeṇa paracittapratītau grāhyagrāhakabhāvo'pi paracittasya bhagavaccittena sahāyāta iti bahirarthavāda eva mukhāntareṇopagataḥ syāt, kathamayaṃ vañcayati vādaḥ ||



asmadīyamatena tu paracittaṃ nāstyeveti tadavadhāraṇakṛto(na) bhagavataḥ sarvajñatākṣatidoṣaḥ | yāvacca bhedagrahaṇābhimānarūpā saṃvṛsttitāvat santānāntare sandehāttadavabodhanārthaṃ vacanādirapi pravartata iti svavacanavirodho'pi na saṃbhavatyeva | na khalu santānāntaraviṣayaḥ sarvathā sandeho nāstyevetyabhimatamasmākam, api tu paramārthagatiriyamupadarśitā | idaṃ hi santānāntarābhāvasādhanamadvayasādhanena sādhāraṇamiti naikaniyataḥ svavacanādivirodhastatparihāro vā | citrākārasaṃbhavamātreṇāpi ca vedāntadhvāntāpasāro bhāṣyakāreṇa darśitaḥ | tathā ca



ātmā sa tasyānubhavaḥ sa ca nānyasya kasyacit

ityādivārtikavyākhyānabhāṣyam |



ātmavādastarhi prasakta iti cet | na citrākārasaṃvedanāt ityādi dveṣavikaluṣāśeṣā eva tuṣākāro'pi vedāntasiddhānta iti alakṣita tadgranthānutthāpayantī santānāntarāpekṣayā paṭhitavatītyavasthā (?) sarvā saṃvṛtisatyāntaḥ pātinī hyevāpai(tī) ti sakalamanākulamiti ||
