apare'pi mahānto'narthāḥ sūtrānteṣūktāḥ | yathā tāvadākāśagarbhasūtre-pañcemāḥ kulaputra kṣatriyasya mūrdhābhiṣiktasya mūlāpattayaḥ, yābhirmūlāpattibhiḥ kṣatriyo mūrdhābhiṣiktaḥ sarvāṇi pūrvāvaropitāni kuśalamūlāni jhoṣayati | vastupatitaḥ pārājikaḥ sarvadevamanuṣyamukhebhyo'pāyagāmī bhavati | katamāḥ pañca? yaḥ kulaputra mūrdhābhiṣiktaṃ staupikaṃ vastvapaharati sāṃdhikaṃ vā cāturdiśasāṃdhikaṃ vā niryātitaṃ vā, svayaṃ vāpaharati hārayati vā, iyaṃ prathamā mūlāpattiḥ || yaḥ punardharma pratikṣipati śrāvakaniryāṇabhāṣitaṃ vā pratyekabuddhaniryāṇabhāṣitaṃ vā mahāyānaniryāṇabhāṣitaṃ vā pratikṣipati pratiṣedhayati, iyaṃ dvitīyā mūlāpattiḥ || yaḥ punarmāmuddiśya śirastuṇḍamuṇḍakāṣāyavastraprāvṛtaḥ śikṣādhārī vā aśikṣādhārī vā, tasya duḥśīlasya vā śīlavato vā kāṣāyāṇi vastrāṇyapaharati apahārayati, gṛhasthaṃ vā karoti, kāye daṇḍaiḥ praharati, cārake vā pratikṣipati, jīvitena vā viyojayati, iyaṃ tṛtīyā mūlāpattiḥ || yaḥ punaḥ kṣatriyaḥ saṃcintya mātaraṃ jīvitādvayaparopayati pitaramarhantaṃ bhagavacchrāvakaṃ vā jīvitād vyaparopayati, samagraṃ vā saṃghaṃ bhinatti, tathāgatasyārhataḥ samyaksaṃbuddhasya saṃcintya duṣṭacitto rudhiramutpādayati | ebhiḥ pañcabhirānantaryaiḥ karmabhiranyatarānyataraṃ karmotpādayati, iyaṃ caturthī mūlāpattiḥ || yaḥ punaḥ kṣatriyo'hetuvādī bhavati paralokopekṣakaḥ, daśākuśalān karmapathān samādāya vartate, anyāṃśca bahūn sattvān daśasvakuśaleṣu karmapatheṣu samādāpayati, vinayati niveśayati pratiṣṭhāpayati, iyaṃ pañcamī mūlāpattiḥ || peyālaṃ || yaḥ punargrāmabhedaṃ janapadabhedaṃ nagarabhedaṃ rāṣṭrābhedaṃ karoti, iyaṃ ṣaṣṭhī mūlāpattiḥ |peyālaṃ || ādikarmiṇāṃ mahāyānasaṃpratisthitānāṃ kulaputrāṇa kuladuhitatṛṇāṃ vā aṣṭaumūlāpattayaḥ, yābhirmūlāpattibhiḥ skhalitā ādikarmikā mahāyānasaṃprasthitāḥ sarvāṇi pūrvāvaropitāni kuśalamūlāni kāṣayanti | vastupatitāḥ parājitā devamanuṣyamahāyānasukhādapāyagāmino bhavanti, ciraṃ ca saṃsāre sīdanti kalyāṇamitravirahitāḥ | katamā aṣṭau? ye sattvāḥ pūrvaduścaritahetunā asmin kliṣṭe pañcakaṣāye loke upapannāḥ, ta itvarakuśalamūlāḥ kalyāṇamitraṃ saṃniḥśrityedaṃ paramagambhīraṃ mahāyānaṃ śṛṇvanti | te ca parīttabuddhayo'pi kulaputrā anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau cittamutpādayanti | teṣāmādikarmikā ye ca bodhisattvā idaṃ paramagambhīraṃ śūnyatāpratisaṃyuktaṃ sūtrāntaṃ śṛṇvanti uddiśanti paṭhanti, te yathāśrutaṃ yathāparyavāptaṃ pareṣāṃ pūrvabuddhisaddaśānāṃ svarthaṃ suvyañjanaṃ vistareṇāgrastaḥ smārayanti prakāśayanti | te hyakṛtaśramā bālāḥ pṛthagjanāḥ śṛṇvanta uttrasyanti saṃtrasyanti saṃtrāsamāpadyante | te saṃtrāsena vivartayanti, anuttarāyāḥ samyaksaṃbodheścittaṃ śrāvakayāne cittaṃ praṇidadhati | eṣā ādikarmikabodhisattvasya mūlāpattiḥ prathamā, yayā mūlāpattyā sa kulaputraḥ sava pūrvāvaropitaṃ kuśalamūlaṃ kāṣayati vastupatitaḥ parājitaḥ svargāpavargasukhāt | visaṃvāditaṃ cāsya bodhicittam | apāyagāmī bhavati | tasmādbodhisattvena mahāsattvena parapudgalānāmāśayānuśayaṃ prathamaṃ jñātvā yathāśayānāṃ satvānāmanupūrveṇa dharmadeśanā kartavyā, tadyathā mahāsamudre'nupūrveṇāvatārayati | pe | punaraparamādikarmiko bodhisattvaḥ kasyacidevaṃ vakṣyati-na tvaṃ śakyasi ṣaṭpāramitāsu caryāṃ cartum | na tvaṃ śakyasyanuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃbodum | śīghraṃ tvaṃ śrāvakayāne pratyekabuddhayāne vā cittamutpādaya | tena tvaṃ saṃsārānniryāsyasi | yāvadyathāpūrvoktam | iyamādikarmikasya bodhisattvasya dvitīyā mūlāpattiḥ || punaraparamādikarmiko bodhisattvaḥ kasyacidevaṃ vakṣyati-kiṃ bhoḥ prātimokṣavinayena śīlena surakṣitena? śīghraṃ tvamanuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau cittamutpādayasva | mahāyānaṃ paṭha | yatte kiṃcitkāyavāṅyanobhiḥ kleśapratyayādakuśalaṃ karma samudānītam, tena pāṭhena śuddhirbhavatyāvipākam, yāvadyathāpūvāktam | iyamādikarmikasya bodhisattvasya tṛtīyā mūlāpattiḥ || punaraparaṃ kulaputra keṣāṃcidādikarmiko bodhisattva evaṃ vakṣyati-varjayata yūyaṃ kulaputrāḥ śrāvakayānakathām | mā śṛṇuta, mā paṭhata, mā pareṣāmupadiśata | gopayata śrāvakayānakathām | na yūyaṃ tasmāt mahatphalaṃ prāpsyatha | na yūyaṃ tatonidānācchaktāḥ kleśāntaṃ kartum | śraddadhata mahāyānakathām | śṛṇuta, mahāyānaṃ paṭhata, mahāyānaṃ pareṣāṃ copadiśata | tato yūyaṃ sarvadurgatyapāyapathān śamayiṣyatha | kṣipraṃ cānuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃbhotsyatha | yadi te tasya vacanakāriṇo bhavanti, īdṛśaṃ dṛṣṭigatamupagṛhṇīyuḥ | ubhayorapi mūlāpattirbhavati | iyamādikarmikasya bodhisattvasya caturthī mūlāpattiḥ | punaraparamādikarmikā bodhisattvā dvijihvīkā bhavanti, anyathā nidarśayanti | idaṃ ca mahāyānaṃ kīrtiśabdaślokārtha lābhasatkārahetoḥ paṭhanti, svādhyāyanti dhārayanti vācayanti deśayanti, pareṣāṃ ca śrutamātramupadiśanti | evaṃ ca vakṣyanti- vayaṃ mahāyānikā nānye | te pareṣāmīrṣyāyanti lābhasatkārahetoḥ | yataste labhante upabhogaparibhogān parebhyaḥ, tatpratyayātte prakupyanti, teṣāṃ cāvarṇaniścārayanti, kutsanti paṃsayanti, vijugupsanti, ātmānaṃ cotkarṣayanti na tān | ataste īrṣyāhetunā cottarimanuṣyadharmairātmānaṃ vijñapayanti | tataste tena vastunā patitāḥ parājitā mahāyānasukhādetāṃ mahāgurukāmāpattimāpadyante yayā apāyagāmino bhavanti | yathā kaścitpuruṣo ratnadvīpaṃ gantu nāvā samudramavatarate | sa mahāsamudre svayameva tāṃ nāvaṃ bhindyāt, tatraiva maraṇaṃ nigacchet | evameva ye ādikarmikā bodhisattvā mahāguṇasāgaramavatartukāmā īrṣyāhetostadvadanti, tatpratyayātte śraddhānāvaṃ bhittvā prajñājīvitena viyogaṃ prāpruvanti | evaṃ te bālā ādikarmikā bodhisattvā īrṣyāhetoranṛtapratyayāṃ mahāgurukāmāpattimāpadyante | iyaṃ pañcamī mūlāpattirādikarmikasya bodhisattvasya || punaraparaṃ kulaputra bhaviṣyantyanāgate'dhvani gṛhasthapravrajitā ādikarmikā bodhisattvāḥ, ye te gambhīrāḥ śūnyatāpratisaṃyuktāḥ sūtrāntā dhāraṇīkṣāntisamādhibhūmisvalaṃkṛtamahāvidvatpuruṣāṇāṃ kṛtaśramāṇāṃ bodhisattvānāṃ gocarāḥ, tān mahāyānasūtrāntān dhārayanti paṭhanti svādhyāyanti pareṣāṃ ca vistareṇa vācayitvā prakāśayanti-ahaṃ cemān dharmān svabuddhayā buddhā evaṃ ca punarahaṃ kāruṇyahetostavopadiśāmi | tvayā vā punastathā bhāvayitavyaṃ yathā tvamatra gambhīreṣu dharmeṣu pratyakṣo bhaviṣyasi | evaṃ te jñānadarśanaṃ bhaviṣyati yathā mama | etahiṃ na punareva dadāti | paṭhitamātreṇāhamimānevarūpān dharmān gambhīragambhīrānupadiśāmi na sākṣātkriyayā || lābhasatkārahetorātmānaṃ vikrīṇāti | tatpratyayātsarvatryadhvagatānāmarhṛtāṃ samyaksaṃbuddhānāṃ bodhisatvānāmāryapudgalānāṃ ca purataḥ sāparādhiko bhavati | mahāgurukāmāpattimāpadyate | visaṃvādayati devamanuṣyān mahāyānena | śrāvakayānamevāsya na bhavati, prāgeva mahāyānasyāvatāraviśeṣādhigamaḥ, prāgevānuttarā samyaksaṃbodhiḥ || tadyathā kaścitpuruṣo mahāṭavīṃ prasthitaḥ kṣuttarṣaprapīḍitaḥ | sa tatra mahāphalavṛkṣe pratiṣṭhitaḥ | āhārārtha sa udāraphalavṛkṣamapahāya gandhasaṃpannaṃ rasasaṃpannamanāsvādya viṣavṛkṣamabhiruhya viṣaphalāni bhuñjīta, bhuktavā ca kālaṃ kuryāt | tadupamāṃstān pudgalān vadāmi, ye durlabhaṃ manuṣyalābhaṃ labdhvā kalyāṇamitraṃ saṃniśritya mahāyānamavatartukāmā lābhasatkārayaśohetorātmānamupadarśayanti, parān paṃsayanti, evaṃrūpāṃ mahāgurukāmāpattimāpadyante, yayā gurukayāpatyā sarvavijñānāṃ paramajugupsitā bhavanti apāyagāminaḥ | tathārūpāśca pudgalā na sevanīyāḥ sarvakṣatriyavrāhmaṇaviṭśūdrāṇām | yaśca tān sevate, sa sātisāro bhavati sarvavijñānām | iyaṃ kulaputra bodhisattvasya ṣaṣṭhī mūlāpattiḥ || punaraparaṃ kulaputra bhaviṣyantyanāgate'dhvani kṣatriyāṇāṃ purohitacaṇḍālā amātyacaṇḍālā bhaṭacaṇḍālā mūrkhāḥ paṇḍitamānino mahādhanā mahābhogāḥ | bahuvidheṣu dānamayapuṇyakriyāvastuṣu saṃddṛśyante | te tyāgamadamattā mānamadadarpeṇa kṣatriyaṃ vibhedayanti, śramaṇān kṣatriyaiḥ | te kṣatriyānniśritya śramaṇān daṇḍāpayanti, arthaṃ daṇḍena muṣanti | tenopadraveṇa te bhikṣavaḥ paudgalikaṃ vā sāṃdhikaṃ vā cāturdiśasāṃdhikaṃ vā staupikaṃ vā śramaṇairapahṛtya teṣāṃ prāhṛtaṃ pradāpyante | te punaścaṇḍālāḥ kṣatriyasyopanāmayiṣyanti | te ubhayato'pi mūlāpattimāpadyante | ye kṣatriyacaṇḍālāḥ śramaṇaiḥ sārdhaṃ praduṣyanti, tathārūpaṃ ca te dharmaṃ prajñapayiṣyanti adharmaṃ va dharmamapahāya | sūtravinayaśikṣā anapekṣya kālopadeśamahāpradeśānapahāya | mahākaruṇānetrī prajñāpāramitāśikṣopāyakauśalyaśikṣāḥ | yāśca apareṣu sūtreṣu śikṣā upadiṣṭāstā apahāya tathārūpāṃ dharmayuktiṃ bhikṣuṇāṃ viheṭhanārthapūrvakaṃ kriyākāraṃ prajñapayanti, yaiḥ kriyākārairbhikṣūṇāṃ viheṭhanā bhavati | riñcanti śamathavipaśyanānuyogamanaskāram | te'vadhyāyanto vyāpādabahulā bhavanti | tena ca hetunā bhikṣūṇāmapyupaśāntāḥ kleśā nopaśamyanti, na tanūbhavanti | tatkāle punaste bhikṣava āśayavipannā bhavanti, śīlavipannāśca bhavanti | ācāravipannā bhavanti, dṛṣṭivipannā bhavanti | taddhetoaḥ śaithilikā bhavanti, bāhulikā bhavanti | aśramaṇāḥ śramaṇapratijñāḥ, abrahmacāriṇo brahmacāripratijñāḥ, śaṅkhasvarasamācārāḥ praṣṭavyadharmadeśakāḥ | te bhūyasyā mātrayā saparicārasya kṣatriyasya satkṛtā bhavanti, mānitāḥ pūjitā bhavanti | te ca prahāṇābhiyuktānāṃ bhikṣūṇāṃ gṛhastheṣvavarṇa niścārayanti | sa ca kṣatriyaḥ saparivāraḥ prahāṇābhiyuktānāṃ bhikṣūṇāmantike praduṣyati avavyāyati | yastatra prahāṇikānāṃ bhikṣūṇāmupabhogaḥ, taṃ svāvyāyābhiratānāṃ bhikṣūṇāṃ niryātayanti | te ubhayato mūlāpattimāpadyante | tatkasya hetoḥ? dhyāyī bhikṣuḥ sukṣetram | nādhyayanavaiyāvṛtyāśritā nādhyayanābhiyuktāḥ samādhidhāraṇīkṣāntibhūmiṣu bhājanobhūtā dakṣiṇīyāḥ pātrabhūtāḥ | ālokakarā lokasya mārgo padeśakāḥ | karmakṣetrakleśakṣetrāt satvānuttārayanti, nirvāṇagamane ca mārge pratiṣṭhāpayanti | imāḥ kulaputra aṣṭau mūlāpattaya iti ||



āsāṃ niḥsaraṇamihaiva sūtre'bhihitam-yadi te bodhisattvā ākāśagarbhasya bodhisattvasya nāma śrutvā darśanamasyākāṅkṣeran, apāyaprapatanabhayāt mūlāpattīrdarśayitukāmāḥ, yadi te ākāśagarbha bodhisattvaṃ namaskuryuḥ, nāma cāsya parikīrtayeyuḥ, teṣāṃ sa kulaputro yathābhāgyatayā svarūpeṇāgratastiṣṭhati brāhmaṇarūpeṇa, yāvaddārikārūpeṇa purataḥ sthāsyati | tasyādikarmikasya bodhisattvasya yathāsamutthitāstā āpattīḥ pratideśayati | gambhīraṃ cāsyopāyakauśalyaṃ mahāyāne caryāmupadarśayati | yāvadavaivartikabhūmau ca pratiṣṭhāpayati | peyālaṃ | yadi teṣāṃ saṃmukhaṃ darśanaṃ na dadāti, yastamabhiyācati, tenādikarmikeṇa bodhisattvena sāparādhena paścime yāme utthāyāsanāt prāṅmukhena sthitvā dhūpaṃ dhūpayitavyam, aruṇo devaputra āyācitavyaḥ | evaṃ ca vaktavyamaruṇa aruṇa mahākṛpa mahābhāga, mahoditastvaṃ jambudvīpe | māṃ karuṇayā chādayasva | śīghramākāśagarbha mahākāruṇikaṃ mama vacanena bodhaya | mama svapnāntare tamupāyamupadarśaya, yenāhamupāyena āpattiṃ pratideśayāmi, ārye mahāyāne upāyaprajñāṃ pratilapsyāmīti | tena tatkālaṃ śayyāyāṃ nidrāpayitavyam | sahodnate'ruṇe iha jambudvīpe ākāśagarbhasya bodhisattvasyeha samāgamo bhavati svarūpeṇa ca | tasyādikarmikasya bodhisattvasya svapnāntare purataḥ sthitvā tāṃ mūlāpattiṃ deśayati mahāyānopāyena | tathārūpaṃ ca tasyopāyajñānaṃ saṃdarśayati, yenopāyakauśalyena sa ādikarmiko bodhisattvastatraiva bodhicittāsaṃpramoṣaṃ nāma samādhiṃ pratilabhate, sudṛḍhavyavasthitaśca bhavati mahāyāne || ityādi ||



athavā yo'tra sūtre'vyeṣaṇamantraḥ pūrvamuktaḥ, tenāyaṃ vidhiḥ kāryaḥ | evaṃ syāt-araṇye upavane'bhyavakāśe vā agaruṃ vā tagaraṃ vā kālānusāri vā dhūpayitavyam | prāñjalinā ca bhūtvā samantato digvidikṣu ca pañcamaṇḍalakena vanditvā ime mantrapadāḥ pravartayitavyāḥ | tadyathā-sumṛśa 2 | kāruṇika | cara tura | vicara | saṃcara | kāruṇika | murara murara vegadhāri namucame bhujayata kāruṇika cintāmaṇi pūraya kāruṇika sarvāśāṃ me sthāpaya ājñādhārī sphu gu | ra | rativiveka gu | dṛṣṭiviveka gu | pūraya kāruṇika pūrayantu mamāśām | sarvathā cāśokagati svāhā || vidhiḥ pūrvavat | sarvavyādhiduḥkhasarvabhayasarvopakaraṇavidhātapratidhāte sarvābhīṣṭasiddhaye ca kāryaḥ || yadi kṣatriyādayo'pi bodhisattvāḥ, kathameṣāmāpattiniyamo'nyeṣāṃ cādhikyam? atha te na sāṃvarikāḥ, kathameṣāmāpattivyavasthā, kathaṃ vā taddoṣātsāṃvarikā api gṛhyante? naiṣa doṣaḥ | yeṣāṃ yatra bahulaṃ saṃbhavaḥ, te tatrākoṭitāḥ svanāmagrahaṇadarśanādbhayotpādanārtham | parasparatastu sarvaiḥ sarvā āpattayaḥ parihartavyāḥ | yena vā prakṛtimahāsāvadyatayā asamādāno'pyabhavyo bhavatyucchinnakuśalamūlaśca, sutarāṃ tena sāṃvarikāḥ | ityalamanayā cintayā ||



upāyakauśalyasūtre'pi mūlāpattiruktā- kiṃ cāpi kulaputra bodhisattvaḥ prātimokṣaśikṣāyāṃ śikṣamāṇaḥ kalpaśatasahastramapi mūlaphalabhakṣaḥ syāt | sarvasattvānāṃ ca sūktaduruktāni kṣamet | śrāvakapratyekabuddhabhūmipratisaṃyuktaiśca manasikāraurviharet | iyaṃ bodhisattvasya gurukā mūlāpattiḥ | tadyathā kulaputra śrāvakayānīyo mūlāpattimāpannaḥ, so'bhavyastaireva skandhaiḥ parinirvātum, evameva kulaputro'pratideśyaitāmāpattimaniḥsṛjya tān śrāvakapratyekabuddhamanasikārān, abhavyo buddhabhūmau parinirvātumiti ||



āsāṃ ca mūlāpattīnāṃ sukhagrahaṇadhāraṇārthamekīyagatānāṃ ca saṃgrahakārikā ucyante-

ratnatrayasvaharaṇādāpatyārājikā matā |

saddharmasya pratikṣepād dvitīyā muninoditā ||

duḥśīlasyāpi vā bhikṣoḥ kāṣāyastainyatāḍanāt |

cārake vā vinikṣepādapapravrājanena ca ||

pañcānantaryakaraṇānmithyādṛṣṭigraheṇa vā |

grāmādibhedanādvāpi mūlāpattirjinoditā ||

śūnyatāyāśca kathanātsattveṣvakṛtabuddhiṣu |

buddhatvaprasthitānāṃ vā saṃbodhervinivartanāt ||

prātimokṣaṃ parityājya mahāyāne niyojanāt |

śiṣyayānaṃ na rāgādiprahāṇāyeti vā grahāt ||

pareṣāṃ grahaṇādvāpi punaḥ svaguṇakāśanāt |

parapaṃsanato lābhasatkāraślokahetunā ||

gambhīrakṣāntiko'smīti mithyaiva kathanātpunaḥ |

daṇḍāpayedvā śramaṇān dadyādvā śaraṇatrayāt ||

gṛhṇīyāddīyamānaṃ vā śamathatyājanātpunaḥ |

pratisaṃlīnabhogaṃ ca svādhyāyiṣu nivedanāt ||

mūlā āpattayo hyetā mahānarakahetavaḥ |

āryasyākāśagarbhasya svapne deśyāḥ puraḥ sthitaiḥ ||

bodhicittaparityāgādyācakāyāpradānataḥ |

tīvramātsaryalobhābhyāṃ krodhādvā sattvatāḍanāt ||

prasādyamāno yatnena sattveṣu na titikṣate |

kleśātparānuvṛttyā vā saddharmābhāsavarṇanāt ||iti||



āryakṣitigarbhasūtre'pyuktam- yo mahābrahman mamoddiśya pravrajito duḥśīlapāpasamācāro bhikṣuranubhūtaḥ kaśambakajātaḥ aśramaṇaḥ śramaṇapratijñaḥ abrahmacārī brahmacāripratijñaḥ | dhvastaḥ patitaḥ parājito vividhaiḥ kleśaiḥ | atha ca punaḥ sa duḥśīlapāpasamācāro bhikṣuradyāpi sarvadevānāṃ yāvatsarvamanuṣyāṇāṃ yāvatpuṇyanidhīnāṃ darśayitā bhavati kalyāṇamitram | kiṃ cāpi sa apātrībhūtaḥ, tena ca punaḥ śirastuṇḍamuṇḍena kāṣāyavastraprāvaraṇeryāpathena darśanahetunāpi bahūnāṃ sattvānāṃ vividhakuśalamūlopastambhanakaraḥ sugatimārgadarśako bhavati | tasmādyo mamoddiśya pravrajitaḥ śīlavān duḥśīlo vā, tasya nānujānāmi cakravartirājñāmapi yanmamoddiśya pravrajitasya sahadharmeṇāpi kāye daṇḍaprahāraṃ vā dātuṃ cārake vā prakṣeptum, aṅgabhaṅgaṃ vikartanaṃ vā kartu jīvitādvā vyaparopaṇaṃ kartum, kiṃ punaradharmeṇa | kiṃ cāpi sa mṛtaḥ kathyate'smin dharmavinaye | atha ca punaḥ sa pudnalo gorocanakastūrikāsadṛśa ||iti||



atraivāha-ye mamoddiśya pravrajitān yānabhūtān pātrabhūtān vā viheṭhayiṣyanti, te sarveṣāṃ tryadhvagatānāṃ buddhānāmatīva sāparādhā bhavanti | samuchinnakuśalamūlā dagdhasaṃtānā avīciparāyaṇā bhavantīti ||



atraivāha- sarvabuddhairadhiṣṭhito'yaṃ mokṣadhvajo yaduta raktakāṣāyavastramiti ||

asminneva coktam-tena khalu punaḥ samayena bahūni śrāvakaniyutaśatasahastrāṇi bahūni ca bodhisattvaniyutaśatasahastrāṇi bhagavato'ntike evaṃrūpaṃ pūrvakṛtaṃ karmāvaraṇaṃ pratideśayanti-vayamapi bhadanta bhagavan bahūnāṃ pūrvakāṇāṃ tathāgatānāṃ pravacane pātrabhūtān pātrabhūtāṃśca buddhānāṃ bhagavatāṃ śrāvakayānīyān pudnalān jugupsitavantaḥ paṃsitavanto roṣitavanto'varṇāyaśaḥkathāśca niścāritavantaḥ | tena vayaṃ karmāvaraṇena triṣvapāyeṣu vividhāṃ tīvrāṃ pracaṇḍāṃ duḥkhāṃ vedanāṃ pratyanubhūtavantaḥ | peyālaṃ | vayaṃ tatkarmāvaraṇaśeṣametarhi bhagavanto'ntike pratideśayiṣyāmaḥ | kecidvadanti-vayaṃ bhagavataḥ śrāvakān vacanaistarjitavantaḥ paribhāṣitavantaḥ | kecidvadanti-vayaṃ bhagavataḥ śrāvakānapātrabhūtān pātrabhūtāṃśca praharitavantaḥ | kecidvadanti-vayaṃ cīvarān hṛtavantaḥ | kecidvadanti-vayaṃ bhagavataḥ śrāvakāṇāmupabhogaparibhogānācchinnavantaḥ | kecidvadanti-vayaṃ bhagavantamuddiśya pravrajitān gṛhasthān kāritavantaḥ, tata asthānaṃ sāditāḥ | kecidvadanti-asmābhirbhagavan buddhānāṃ bhagavatāṃ śrāvakā apātrabhūtāḥ pātrabhūtāśca sāparādhikāścārake prakṣiptāḥ | tena vayaṃ karmāvaraṇena bahūn kalpāṃstriṣvapāyeṣu vividhāṃ tīvrāṃ pracaṇḍāṃ duḥkhāṃ vedanāṃ pratyanubhūtavantaḥ | peyālaṃ | tadvayametarhi karmāvaraṇaśeṣaṃ bhagavato'ntike pratideśayāmaḥ, āyatyāṃ saṃvaramāpadyema | pratigṛhṇātu bhagavānasmākamanukampāmupādāya | uddharatu bhagavānasmānanantapāpebhyaḥ | iti vistaraḥ ||



pravrajyāntarāyasūtre'pyanartha uktaḥ-caturbhirmahānāman dharmaiḥ samanvāgato gṛhī akṣaṇaprāpto bhavati | jātyandhaśca jaḍaścājihvakaśca caṇḍālaśca | na jātu sukhito bhavatyabhyākhyānabahulaśca paṇḍakaśca nityadāsaśca | strī ca bhavati śvā ca sūkaraśca gardaścoṣṭraścāśīviṣaśca bhavati tatra tatra jātau | katamaiścaturbhiḥ? iha mahānāman gṛhī pūrvajinakṛtādhikārāṇāṃ sattvānāṃ naiṣkamyacittasya pravrajyācittasyāryamāgacittasyāntarāya karoti | anena prathamena || punaraparaṃ gṛhī dhanalaulyena putralaulyena karmavipākamaśraddadhat putrasya vā duhiturvā bhāryāyā vā jñātisaṃghasyaiśvaryasthāne vartamāne pravrajyāntarāyaṃ karoti | anena dvitīyeneti || anyad dvayam-saddharmapratikṣepaḥ śramaṇabrāhmaṇeṣu ca pratighaḥ ||



daśa cākuśalāḥ karmapathāḥ anathāḥ saddharmasmṛtyupasthānādvipākakaṭukā draṣṭavyāḥ | tataḥ kiṃcinmātraṃ sūtraṃ sūcyate | prāṇātipātavipākalavastāvat | yathāha-tadyathā agniśikhācarā nāma pakṣiṇo ye'gniśikhāmadhyagatā na dahyante saṃhṛṣṭatarāśca nārakeyāṇāṃ kapālaṃ bhittvā rudhiraṃ pibanti | kapālāntaracarā nāma pakṣiṇo ye mastakaṃ bhittvā jvalitamastakaluṅgān pibanti | jihvāmiṣabhujo nāma pakṣiṇo ye jihvāṃ vidārya abhito'bhitaḥ prabhakṣayanti | sāpi jihvā bhuktā punarapi saṃjāyate padmadalakomalatarā | evamarthānurūpasaṃjñā dantotpāṭakā nāma, kaṇṭhanāḍayapakarṣakā nāma | klomakāśinaḥ | āmāśayādāḥ | plīhasaṃvartakāḥ | antravivarakhādinaḥ | pṛṣṭhavaṃśacarā nāma | marmaguhyakā nāma pakṣiṇaḥ, ye sarvāṇi marmavivarāṇi bhittvā marmāṇi kṛntayitvā vivarāṇi praviśya majjāmaṇḍaṃ pibanti krandamānānām | sūcīcchidrā nāma pakṣiṇo ye sūcīsadṛśatuṇḍā raktaṃ pibanti | evamasthivivarāśinaḥ, ṣaṭ tvagmakṣiṇaḥ | nakhanikṛntakā medodāḥ snāyuviśeṣakāḥ, keśoṇḍukā nāma pakṣiṇo ye keśamūlānyutpāṭayanti | sa evamavīcīpradeśastrīṇi yojanaśatasahastrāṇi | pakṣimairavapakṣo nāma | tatra tairanyairnārakeyaiḥ sahānekāni varṣaśatasahastrāṇi bhakṣyate saṃbhavati ca | sa kathaṃcidapi tasmānyuktaḥ sarvasmādduḥkhajālaparivṛtaḥ śvabhraprapāto nāma dvitīyaḥ pradeśastatra gacchati trāṇānveṣī śaraṇānveṣī paritrāṇānveṣī | samantata ekādaśabhirarciskandhairāvṛto niḥsahāyaḥ karmapāśabandhanabaddhaḥ samantataḥ śatrubhirāvṛta kāntāramanuprapannaḥ sarvasmānnarakapuñjādadhikataraṃ vyasanamabhiprapannastaṃ śvabhraprapātaṃ nāma pradeśamanudhāvati | patite atīva pādaḥ pravilīyate | utkṣiptaḥ punarapi saṃbhavati sukumārataraḥ ślakṣṇataraḥ kharābhistībrābhirvedanābhirabhibhūtaḥ | tasyaivaṃ bhayaviklavavadanasya karacaraṇasarvāṅgaprayaṅgapravilīyamānasya sa pradeśaḥ śvabhraprapāto nāma prādurbhavati | sa tasmin deśe nipatati | patitaḥ śvabhre prapatati trīṇi yojanasahastrāṇi | punarapi karmakṛtena vāyunotkṣipyate | sa prapatamānaḥ kaṅkavāyasagṛdhrolūkairbhakṣyate | yāvattasyaivamutkṣipyamānasya ca prapatataścānekāni varṣaśatasahastrāṇi gacchanti | kathaṃcidapi tasmānmuktaḥ paribhrāmitaścakrāṅkavivaraṃ nāma pradeśamanudhāvati | tasmiṃśca pradeśe sahastrārāṇi cakrāṇi prādurbhavanti vajranābhīni tīkṣṇajvālāni śīghrabhramāṇi | tasya sahagamanādeva tāni cakrāṇi śarīraṃ prāpya bhramanti | peyālaṃ pratyekaṃ sarvāṅgāni pramathnanto dahanti,pādatale cāsya śaṅkubhirbhidyete | evaṃ makkoṭakaparvate | mākkoṭakaiḥ prāṇijātibhiḥ sāntarbrahiḥ paramāṇuśaḥ prabhakṣyate | bhukto bhuktaḥ punarapi saṃjāyate sukumārataraḥ | sukumāratayā bhūyo'pyadhikatarāṃ vedanāmanubhavati | bhuktabhuktasya prabhūtataramevāsya tvaṅyāṃsaṃ prādurbhavati | tasya prāṇātipātakṛtopacitasya tatphalaṃ bhavati ||



adattādānavipākamāha- sa eṣa duṣkṛtakarmāntacārī alātacakranirmāṇagandharvanagaraḥ mṛgatṛṣṇikāsadṛśaṃ mahadarthajātaṃ paśyati ratnavastradhanadhānyanikarabhūtam | tasyaivaṃ lobhābhibhūtasya karmaṇā mohitasya evaṃ bhavati mamedamiti | sa evaṃ mohitaḥ pāpakārī prajvalitāṅgārakarṣūrlaṅghayitvā tad draviṇamanudhāvati | sa karmakṛtairyamapuruṣairgṛhyate śastrajālamadhyagataḥ sarvāṅgapratyaṅgaśaḥ pāṭayate viśasyate dahyate asthyavaśeṣaḥ kriyate | na cāsyānādikālapravṛttaḥ sa lobhastāmapyavasthāṃ gatasya parihīyata iti ||



kāmamithyācāramadhikṛtyāha- eṣa sa pāpakartā tasmācchastrasaṃkaṭānmuktaḥ kathamapyaṅgārakarṣūrlaṅgayitvā karmaṇā bhrāmitaḥ pradeśamanyaṃ prapadyate vitathadarśanaṃ nāma | tatra karmakṛtāṃ striyaṃ paśyati, yā tena pūrva naṣṭasmṛtinā dṛṣṭā | dṛṣṭvā ca anādikālābhyasto rāgāgnirutpadyate | sa tena dhāvati yena tāḥ striyaḥ | tāśca ayomayyo nāryaḥ karmakṛtāḥ | tābhirasau gṛhyate | gṛhītvā ca oṣṭhātprabhṛti tathā bhujyate yathāsya sarṣapaphalamātrapramāṇamapi nāvaśiṣṭam | tasmin śarīre bhavati | punarapi saṃbhavati, punarapi bhujyate | sa kaṭukāṃ kharāṃ vedanāmanubhavaṃstasmādrāgāgnerna nivartate | yena tāḥ striyastena bhūyaḥ sa saṃghāvati | na cāsya tatpīḍā tathā bādhate yathā rāgāgniḥ | atha tāḥ striyo bhūyo vajramapāyomayaprajvalitagātrāstaṃ manuṣyamādāya jvālāmālākulasarvaśarīrāstaṃ nārakeyaṃ sikatāmuṣṭivadbhindanti | punarapi saṃbhavatīti pūrvavat |peyālaṃ ||

striyo mūlamapāyasya dhananāśasya sarvathā |

strīvidheyā narā ye tu kutasteṣāṃ bhavetsukham || yāvat||

strī vināśo vināśānāmiha loke paratra ca |

tasmātstriyo vivarjyāḥ syuryadīcchetsukhamātmanaḥ ||iti||



mṛṣāvādamadhikṛtyāha- sa tairyamapuruṣairgṛhyate, gṛhītvā ca tanmukhaṃ vidārayanti | tasmājjihvāmapakarṣayanti | sā ca jihvā karmaśātpañcayojanaśatapramāṇā bhavati | tasya mṛṣāvādasya phalena tasyāśca sahanirgamanakāle te yamapuruṣā bhūmāvainamāhvayanti pradīptāyomayyām | karmakṛtaṃ ca halasahastraṃ prādurbhavati pradīptāgrasaṃyuktam | baladbhirbalīvardaistadasyāntargataṃ jihvāyāṃ vahati | tatra pūyarūdhirakṛmistrāviṇyo nadyaḥ pravahanti | peyālaṃ || sā ca jihvā tathā sukumārā yathā devānāmakṣi | yāvatsa vedanātaḥ stanati krandati vikrośati | na cāsya tadduḥkhaṃ kaścidapanayatīti vistaraḥ | tasyaivaṃ pracaṇḍāṃ vedanāmanubhavato'nekāni varṣaśatasahastrāṇi sā ca jihvā kṛṣyate | sā kathaṃcittasya nārakasya mukhe praviśati | sa bhayavihvalavadano yena vā tena vā niḥpalāyate'ṅgārakarṣūṣu dahmamāno nimajjan | tasyaivaṃ duḥkhārtasyāśaraṇasyāparāyaṇasya punarapi yamapuruṣāḥ prādurbhavanti mudrarāsipāṇayaḥ | te taṃ puruṣaṃ mastakātprabhṛti yāvatpādau cūrṇayantītyādi ||



paiśunyavipākastu yathaiva mṛṣāvādasya, viśeṣastu trīṇi yojanaśatāni jihveti | tāṃ yamapuruṣā nistriṃśānādāya pradīptadhārān jihvāṃ nikṛntanti | jambukaiścānyasmin pradeśe bhakṣyate | paramakaṭukāṃ vedanāṃ prativedayate | sa krandati vikrośatyavyaktākṣaraṃ jihvāvirahita ityādi ||



pāruṣyavipākamāha-te tāṃ jihvāmāsyaṃ vidārya gṛhṇanti | gṛhītvā niśitadhāraiḥ śastraiśchittvā tasya bhūya eva khādanīyārthena mukhe prakṣipanti | sa ca jighatsārditaḥ kṣutkṣāmavadanaḥ svarudhiralālāparistrutāṃ tāmeva svajihvāṃ bhakṣayati | sā ca jihvā chinnā punarapi saṃjāyate karmavaśāt | atha sa bhūmau vedanārtaḥ parivartate viceṣṭate kradante | tasyaivaṃ vedanārtasya parivṛttanayanatārakasya duḥkhārtasya dīnasyāsahāyasyaikākinaḥ svakṛtamupabhuñjānasya yamapuruṣā anuśāsanīgāthāṃ bhāṣante-



jihvādhanorvinirmuktastīkṣṇo vāgviśikhastvayā |

pāruṣyamiti yadṛṣṭaṃ tasyaitatphalamāgatam ||iti vistaraḥ ||



saṃbhinnapralāpavipākamāha-tasya tatprajvalitaṃ tāmradravalehitaṃ jihvāṃ dahati | jihvāṃ dagdhvā kaṇṭhaṃ dahati | kaṇṭhaṃ dagdhvā hṛdayaṃ dahati | hṛdaya dagdhvā antrāṇi dahati | tānyapi dagdhvā pakāśayaṃ dahati | pakkāśayamapi dagdhvā adhobhāgena nirgacchati || yamapuruṣā gāthāmāhuḥ-



pūrvottarābaddhapadaṃ nirarthakamasaṃgatam |

abaddhaṃ yatvayā proktaṃ tasyaitatphalamāgatam ||

yā na satyavatī nityaṃ na cādhyayanatatparā |

na sā jihvā budhairdṛṣṭā kevalaṃ māṃsakhaṇḍikā ||iti vistaraḥ ||



abhidhyāvipākamāha- atha paśyati riktaṃ tucchamasārakaṃ karmakṛtaṃ bahu draviṇaṃ paraparigṛhītam | tasya karmacoditavyāmohitasyaivaṃ bhavati-mamedaṃ syāditi | tataḥ sa nārakastenaiva dhāvati yena tad dravyam | tasyābhidhyākhyamānasasyākuśalasyāsevitabhāvitabhāvitabahulīkṛtasya tatphalaṃ yadasau narake viparītaṃ paśyati | tasyaivaṃ paśyato'bhidhyābahulasya haste śastraṃ prādurbhavati | sa tena dhāvati | teṣāmapyanyeṣāṃ nārakāṇāṃ haste śastrāṇi prādurbhavanti | sa taiḥ saha śastreṇa yudhyate yāvattathā kartyate yathā sarṣapaphalamātramapi na bhavati māṃsamasya śarīre | tathā asthikaṅkālāvaśeṣaḥ kriyate |peyālaṃ || pareṣāṃ sarvaṃ........mama syāditi cintitam | tasyābhidhyāsamutthasya viṣasya phalamāgatamiti ||



vyāpādaphalamāha-karmamayāḥ siṃhavyāghrasarpāḥ krodhābhibhūtāḥ puratastiṣṭhante | etebhyo bhayabhīto yena vā tena vā niḥpaṃlāyate | sa kathaṃ śaknoti palāyitumaśubhasya karmaṇaḥ? sa tairgṛhyate | gṛhītvā ca pūrva tāvanmastakādbhujyate yāvatpārścataḥ sarpairviṣadaṃṣṭraiḥ saṃdaśya saṃdaśya bhakṣyate | vyāghrairapi pṛṣṭhato bhakṣyate | pādāvapi vahninā dā[hyete] | sa yamapuruṣairdūrādiṣubhirvidhyate ||iti vistaraḥ ||



mithyādṛṣṭiphalaṃ punaraparimitam | pāṭhastu saṃkṣipyate-śastravarṣatomaravajravarṣāśanipāṣāṇavarṣairhanyate | ekādaśabhirarciskandhai kṣutpipāsāgninā ca mukhanirgatena nirantaraṃ dahyata iti ||



kāmamūlāśca sarvānarthā iti tebhya evodvejitavyam | yathātraivāha-astyagnikuṇḍo nāma narakaḥ | tatra katareṇa karmaṇā sattvā upapadyante? yenāśramaṇena śramaṇapratijñena mātṛgrāmasya nṛttagītasyābharaṇānāṃ vā śabdaṃ śratvā ayoniśena manaskāreṇākṣiptabuddhinā tacchutvā hasitalalitakrīḍitānyaśuci muktam || peyālaṃ || tatra te nārakā ayovarṣeṇa sarvāṅgapratyaṅgaśaśrurṇyante, aṅgāravarṣeṇa ca pacyante, dahyanta ityādi | evaṃ paurāṇakāmāsvādanasmaraṇātpadumo nāma narakaḥ paṭhayate, svaprāntabhūtasmaraṇācca | tatra te nārakāḥ kumbhiṣu pacyante | te droṇiṣvayomayairmusalairhanyante | iti vistaraḥ ||



evamapsarasaḥ prārthanayā brahmacaryapariṇāmanānmahāpadumo nāma naraka uktaḥ | tatra kṣāranadī taraṅgiṇī nāma pravahati | tasyāṃ nadyāṃ yānyasthīni te pāṣāṇāḥ | yacchaivālaṃ te keśāḥ | yaḥ paṅkastanmāṃsam | yā āpaḥ tatkkathitaṃ tāmram | ye matsyāste nārakā ityādi || evaṃ puruṣasya puruṣeṇa saha maithunavipratipatteḥ aprameyāḥ kāraṇāviśeṣāḥ paṭhayante | evaṃ śiśubhiḥ saha vipratipatteḥ kṣāranadyāmuhyamānān dārakān paśyati | te taṃ vilapanti | sa tāṃ nadīmavagāhate teṣu bālakeṣu tīvrasnehapratibandhaśokaduḥkhavegāt | evaṃ govaḍavājaiḍakādiṣu prakṛtisāvadyaḥ kāmamithyācāraḥ kharataravipākaḥ paṭhayate | tāsāmeva govaḍavādīnāṃ taptāyomayīnāṃ akuśalanirmitānāṃ yonimārgeṇa sa tiryakkāmasevī praviśati | sa tāsāmudare pradīptāṅgāranikaraparipūrṇe svidyate pacyate bahūni varṣaśatasahastrāṇīti vistareṇa draṣṭavyam ||



evamanyanāśitāsvapi bhikṣuṇīṣu vipratipannānāṃ mahānarakayātanāḥ paṭhayante | evaṃ svastrīṣvapyayonimārgeṇa gacchataḥ | evaṃ prasahyānītāsvapi parastrīṣu, labdhāsu ca kanyāsu | evamupavāsasthāsu, evaṃ gurūṇāṃ patnīṣu jñātiśabdamānitāsu ca vipratipatteḥ tīvrāścāparimāṇāśca mahānarakayātanāḥ paṭhayante ||



saptamaithunasaṃyuktasūtre'pyāha-iha brāhmaṇa ekatyo brahmacāriṇamātmānaṃ pratijānīte | sa nehaiva mātṛgrāmeṇa sārdhaṃ dvayaṃ samāpadyate, api tu mātṛgrāmaṃ cakṣuṣā rūpaṃ nidhyāyan paśyati | sa tadāsvādayati adhyavasyati, adhyavasāya tiṣṭhati | ayamucyate brāhmaṇa brahmacārī saṃyukto maithunena dharmeṇa, na visaṃyuktaḥ | apariśuddhaṃ brahmacarya carati || evaṃ mātṛgrāmeṇa sārdhaṃ saṃkrīḍataḥ saṃkilikilāyamānasya āsvādayataḥ apariśuddhaṃ brahmacaryamuktam | evaṃ mātṛgrāmāpasthānamāsvādayataḥ | evaṃ tiraḥkuḍayagatasya tiroduṣyagatasya vā mātṛgrāmasya nṛttagītādiśavdamāsvādayato maithunasaṃyogamityuktam | evaṃ pañcakāmaguṇasamarpitaṃ paramavalokyāsvādayataḥ ||evaṃ devādisthāneṣu brahmacaryapariṇāmanātsaṃyukto maithunena dharmeṇa na visaṃyukta iti ||



yataścaite kāmā evaṃ smaraṇaprārthanāviṣayamapi gatā evamanarthakarāḥ, tenaiva kāmāpavādakasūtre'bhihitam-nivāraya bhikṣo cittaṃ kāmebhyaḥ | sabhayaścaiṣa mārgaḥ sapratibhayaḥ sakaṇṭakaḥ sagahanaḥ unmārgaḥ kumārgo vedanāpathaḥ asatpuruṣasaṃsevitaḥ | naiṣa mārgaḥ satpuruṣasaṃsevitaḥ | na tvamevaṃ cintayasi-kasmāt alpāsvādāḥ kāmā uktā bhagavatā bahuduḥkhabahūpadravā bahūpāyāsāḥ? ādīnavo'tra bhūyān | rogo bhikṣavaḥ kāma gaṇḍaḥ śalyamaghamaghamūlamāmiṣabaḍiśaṃ mṛtyuḥ | anityāḥ kāmāstucchāḥ | mṛṣāmoṣadharmiṇaḥ svapnopamāḥ kāmāḥ | kimapyete bālollāpanāḥ || peyālaṃ|| yathā mṛgāṇāṃ bandhanāya kūṭam, dvijānāṃ bandhanāya jālam, matsyānāṃ bandhanāya kupinam, markaṭānāṃ bandhanāya lepaḥ, pataṅgānāṃ bandhanāyāgniskandhaḥ | evaṃ kāmāḥ || pe || kāmaparyeṣaṇāṃ carato dīrgharātraṃ siṃhānāṃ mukhe parivartitasyānto na prajñāyate | yāvadnoghātakānāṃ gavāśanānāṃ mukhe parivartitasyānto na prajñāyate | yāvanmaṇḍūkānāṃ satāṃ sarpāṇāṃ mukhe parivartitasyānto na prajñāyate | dīrgharātraṃ kāmān pratisevamānānāṃ corā iti kṛtvā gṛhītānāṃ śiraśchinnānāmanto na prajñāyate | pāradārikāḥ pāriyanthikā grāmaghātakā janapadaghātakā yāvad granthimocakā iti kṛtvā gṛhītānāṃ śiraśchinnānāmanto na prajñāyate | duḥkhaṃ tībraṃ kharaṃ kaṭukamanubhūtaṃ rudhiraṃ prasyanditaṃ pragharitaṃ yaccaturṣu mahāsamudreṣūdakātprabhūtataram || peyālaṃ|| kāyo hyayaṃ bahvādīnavaḥ, asthisaṃghātaḥ snāyusaṃbuddho māṃsenānuliptaḥ carmaṇā paryavanaddhaḥ chavyā praticchannaḥ chidravicchidraḥ kṛmisaṃghaniṣevitaḥ sattvānāmanarthakaḥ kleśakarmaṇāṃ vastu | asmin kāye vividhā ābādhā utpadyante | tadyathā- cakṣūrogaḥ śrotrarogo yāvadarśāsi piṭako bhagandaraḥ | peyālaṃ | kāyikāḥ saṃtāpāḥ kāyikaṃ duḥkham | kāyasya jīrṇatā bhagnatā kubjatā | khālityaṃ pālityaṃ valipracuratā | indriyāṇāṃ paripākaḥ paribhedaḥ | saṃskārāṇāṃ purāṇībhāvo jarjarībhāvaḥ | yāvannārhasyevamuddharantaṃ pragharantaṃ jugupsanīyaṃ kāyaṃ pratiṣevitum | peyālaṃ | kā tava bhikṣo kāmāśāntiḥ? kaśca tvāṃ pralobhayati? kathaṃ ca tvaṃ prāhito mūrchito'dhyāvasito'dhyavasānamāpanna? yadāhaṃ parinirvṛto bhavāmi, saddharmaścāntarhito bhavati, tvaṃ ca kāmān pratisevya vinipātagato bhaviṣyasi | kadā jarāmaraṇādātmānaṃ parimocayiṣyasi? alaṃ bhikṣo, nivāraya cittaṃ kāmebhyaḥ | akālaḥ kāmaparyeṣaṇāyāḥ | kālo'yaṃ dharmaparyeṣaṇāyāḥ ||iti ||



ugradattaparipṛcchāyāmapyāha- tena kāmamithyācārātprativiratena bhavivyam | svadāratuṣṭena paradārānabhilāṣiṇā araktanetraprekṣiṇā nirviṇṇamanasā | ekāntaduḥkhāḥ kāmā ityabhīkṣṇaṃ manasikāraprayuktena | yadāpyasya svadāreṣu kāmavitarka utpadyeta, tadāpi tena svadāreṣvaśubhānudarśinā uttrastamanasā kleśavaśatayā kāmāḥ pratisevitavyāḥ, na tvadhyavasānavinibaddhena nityamanityānātmāśucisaṃjñinā | evaṃ cānena smṛtirupasthāpyā- tathāhaṃ kariṣyāmi yathā saṃkalpairapi kāmānna paribhokṣye | kaḥ punarvādo dvīndriyasamāpattyā vā anaṅgavijñaptyā veti ||



punaratraivāha- bodhisattvena svabhāryāyā antike tistraḥ saṃjñā utpādayitavyāḥ | katamāstistraḥ ratikrīḍāsahāyikaiṣā naiṣā paralokasahāyikā | annapānasahāyikaiṣā naiṣā karmavipākānubhavanasahāyikā | sukhasahāyikaiṣā naiṣā duḥkhasahāyikā || yāvadaparāstistraḥ-śīlāntarāyasaṃjñā dhyānāntarāyasaṃjñā prajñāntarāyasaṃjñā || aparāstistraḥ-corasaṃjñā vadhakasaṃjñā narakapālasaṃjñā iti ||



candrottarādārikāparipṛcchāyāmapyuktam- atha candrottarā dārikā samanantaraṃ pradhāvantaṃ taṃ mahāntaṃ janakāyaṃ dṛṣṭvā tasyāṃ velāyāṃ vihāyasāntarīkṣe tālamātramabhyudnabhya sthitvā ca taṃ mahāntaṃ janakāyaṃ gāthābhiradhyabhāṣata-

kāyaṃ mamekṣadhvamimaṃ manojñaṃ suvarṇavarṇaṃ jvalanaprakāśam |

na raktacittasya hi mānuṣasya prajñāyate śobhanakaṃ śarīram ||

ye tvagnikarṣūpamasaṃpradīptān tyajanti kāmān viṣayeṣvagṛddhāḥ |

ṣaḍindriyaiḥ saṃvarasaṃvṛtāśca te brahmacaryaṃ ca caranti śuddham |

dṛṣṭvā ca dārān hi parasya ye vai kurvanti mātābhaginīti saṃjñām |

prāsādikāste hi sudarśanīyā bhavanti nityaṃ paramaṃ manojñāḥ ||

sphuṭāmimāṃ vettha purīṃ samantād yo romakūpān mama cātigandhaḥ |

na rāgācittena mayārjito'yaṃ phalaṃ tu dānasya damasya cedam ||

na me samutpadyati rāgacittaṃ mā vītarāgāsu janīṣva rāgam |

sākṣī mamāyaṃ purato munīndraḥ satyaṃ yathā vedmi na jātu mithyā ||

yūyaṃ ca pūrvaṃ pitaro mamāsa ahaṃ ca yuṣmākamabhūjjanitrī |

bhrātā svasā cāpi pitā babhūva ko rāgacittaṃ janayejjananyām ||

pradhātitāḥ prākū ca mamātha sarve ahaṃ viśastā ca purā bhavadbhiḥ |

sarve amitrā vadhakāḥ parasya kathaṃ tu vā jāyati rāgacittam ||

na rūpavanto hi bhavanti rāgāt na raktacittāḥ sugatiṃ brajanti |

na nirvṛtiṃ yānti ca raktacittā rāgo hi tasmātparivarjanīyaḥ ||

kāmasya hetornirayaṃ patanti pretāstiraśco'tha bhavanti rāgāt |

kumbhāṇḍayakṣā asurāḥ piśācā bhavanti ye rāgaparīttacittāḥ ||

kāṇāśca khañjāśca vijihvakāśca virūṇkāścaiva bhavanti rāgāt |

bhavanti nānāvidhadoṣabhājaścaranti ye kāmacarīṃ jaghanyām ||

yaccakravartitvamavāpnuvanti bhavanti śakrāstridaśeśvarāśca |

brahmaṇa īśā vaśavartinaśca tad brahmacarya vipulaṃ caritvā ||

jātyandhabhāvā badhirā visaṃjñā śvasūkaroṣṭrāḥ kharavānarāśca |

hastyaśvagovyāghrapataṅgabhakṣā bhavanti nityaṃ khalu kāmalolāḥ |

kṣitīśvarāścaiva bhavantyudagrāḥ suśreṣṭhino vai gṛhapatyamātyāḥ |

sukhasaumanasyena ca yānti vṛddhiṃ ye brahmacarya vipulaṃ caranti ||

kabhallitāpānatha dhūmagārān bandhāṃstathā tāḍanatarjanāṃśca |

chedaṃ śiraḥkarṇakarākṣināsāḥ pādasya cārcchanti hi kāmadāsāḥ ||iti||



udayanavatsarājaparipṛcchāyāṃ ca vivarṇitāḥ kāmāḥ-



dṛṣṭvā vraṇaṃ dhāvati makṣikā yathā

dṛṣṭvāśuciṃ dhāvati gardabho yathā |

śvānaśca śūnā iva māṃsakāraṇāt

tathaiva dhāvantyabudhāḥ striye ratāḥ ||

avidyāpidhitā bālāstamaḥskandhena ābṛtāḥ |

strīṣu saktāstathā mūḍhā amedhya iva vāyasāḥ ||

mārasya gocaro hyeṣa prasthitā yena durgatiḥ |

āsvādasaṃjñino gṛddhā mīḍhasthāne yathā krimiḥ ||

kīṭakumbho yathā citro yatra yatraiva dṛśyate |

pūrṇo mūtrapurīṣeṇa dṛtirvā vātapūritā ||

siṅghāṇakakaphā lālāḥ śleṣmaṇi klinnamastakāḥ |

daurgandhyaṃ stravate kāyādbālānāṃ tadyathā madhu ||

asthipūrṇa mukhadvāraṃ māṃsacarmādibhiścitam |

gaṇḍabhūto hyayaṃ kāyaḥ kutsito hyāmagandhikaḥ ||

nānāprāṇibhiḥ saṃpūrṇo mukhagaṇḍo yathā bhavet |

evameva hyayaṃ kāyo viṣṭhādyaśucibhājanam ||

atyāntrākuśaṃ hyudaraṃ sayakṛt phutphusākulam |

vṛkkau vilohitaṃ pittaṃ mastaluṅgāsthimajjakam ||

aśītiṃ krimikulasahastrāṇi yāni tiṣṭhanti antare |

atha bālā na paśyanti mohajālena āvṛtāḥ ||

navavraṇamukhaiḥ prastravantyaśuciṃ pūtigandhikam |

bālā nimitta gṛhṇanti vacane darśane'pi ca |

uktāḥ paścānna jānanti yo deśaḥ sarvakutsitaḥ ||

uccāragocarā bālāḥ kheṭasiṅvāṇabhojinaḥ |

jugupsanīye rajyante vraṇaṃ dṛṣṭveva makṣikāḥ ||

kakṣāsvādharate svedo gandho vāyati kutsitaḥ |

kurvanti duṣkṛtaṃ karma yena gacchanti durgatim ||

hīnān kāmānniṣevanto hīnān dharmānnivevya ca |

gatvā avīciṃ duṣprajñā duḥkhāṃ vindanti vedanām |

uccāra iva durgandhāḥ striyo buddhaiḥ prakīrtitāḥ |

tasmāddhīnasya hīnābhiḥ strībhirbhavati saṃgatiḥ ||

uccārabhastrāṃ yo gṛhya bālo vāsaṃ nigacchati ||

yādṛśaṃ kurute karma tādṛśaṃ labhate phalam ||iti||



tathā atraivāha-



tadevaṃrūpairduḥkhaparyeṣitairbhogaiḥ svajīvikārthamupasaṃhṛtairna prabhavanti śramaṇabrāhmaṇebhyo dānaṃ dātuṃ kṛpaṇavanīpakapācakebhyo vaśīkṛtāḥ strībhiḥ strīnirjitāḥ strīnigṛhītāḥ strīdāsāḥ | tenaiva strīpremṇā tasyā eva poṣaṇāya na śakruvanti dānaṃ dātuṃ śīlaṃ ca samādātum | sa tatra raktaḥ samānaḥ strīparibhāṣitāni sahate, tarjanāvalokananirbhartsanāmapi sahate | sa mātṛgrāmeṇa tarjitaḥ puruṣaḥ saṃsīdati, viṣīdati, sukhaṃ cāsyā avalokayati | kāmahetoḥ kāmanidānaṃ ca vaśagato bhavati | ayaṃ mahārāja kāmalolupasya puruṣasyoccārasukhaparamasyāśucau ratasyāsaṃprajanyacāriṇo doṣaḥ | peyālaṃ |

śrutvedṛśaṃ tu saṃvegaṃ na teṣāṃ bhavati nirvṛtiḥ |

bhūyaḥ kurvanti saṃsarga strībhiḥ sārdhaṃ pramoditāḥ ||

duḥkhakāmānniṣevante bhāṣante ca jugupsitāḥ |

dharmaṃ śrutvārthasaṃmūḍhā bhāṣante ca subhāṣitam |

strīgataṃ cāsya taccittaṃ biḍālasyeva mūṣike ||

mūhūrtaṃ bhavati saṃvegaḥ śrutvātha jinabhāṣitam |

punaḥ kupyati rāgo'sya viṣaṃ hālāhalaṃ yathā ||

sūkarasyeva uttrāso muhūrtamanuvartate |

dṛṣṭvā vai atha uccāraṃ gṛddhatāṃ janayatyasau ||

evaṃ sukhārthino bālāḥ prahāya jinaśāsanam |

hīnān kāmānniṣevante yena gacchanti durgatim ||

raktāḥ pramattāḥ kāmeṣu kṛtvā karma supāpakam |

śīlavattāṃ visaṃvādya paścādgacchanti durgatim ||

yasyedṛśaṃ dharmanayaṃ viditvā

strīpu prasādaḥ puruṣasya no bhavet |

viśodhitaḥ svargapatho'sya nityaṃ

na durlabhā tasya varāgrabodhiḥ ||

labdhvā kṣaṇaṃ hi sa prājño dharmaṃ śrutvā ca īdṛśam |

sarvān kāmān vivarjyeha pravrajyāṃ niṣkramedbudhaḥ ||iti||



praśāntaviniścayaprātihāryasūtre'pyaparo'nartha uktaḥ-yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā jāmbūdvīpakān sarvasattvāñjīvitād vyaparopya sarvasvaṃ haret, yo vā anyo mañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā bodhisattvasyaikakuśalacittasyāntarāyaṃ kuryāt, antaśāstiryagyonigatasyāpyekālopadānasahagatasya kuśalamūlasyāntarāyaṃ kuryāt, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ pāpaṃ prasavati |tatkasya hetoḥ? buddhotpādasaṃjanakānāṃ sakuśalamūlānāmantarāyaḥ sthito bhavati | yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ parakuleṣu bodhisattvasyerṣyāmātsaryaṃ kuryāt, tasya tasmin samaye tatonidānaṃ trīṇi bhayāni pratikāṅkṣitavyāni | katamāni trīṇi? narakopapattibhayaṃ jātyandhabhayaṃ pratyantajanmopapattibhayaṃ ceti ||

punarāha-

yastasya kuryātpuruṣo'priyaṃ vā bhūtaṃ hyabhūtaṃ ca vadedavarṇam |

parūṣaṃ vadettkruddhamanā pi yastaṃ kṣomaṃ ca kuryātpunarasya yo'pi ||

ātmabhāvena mahatā narakeṣu sa durmatiḥ |

utpadyate vipannātmā duḥkhāṃ sa vetti vedanām ||

yojanānāṃ śataṃ pañca jāyate'sya samucchrayaḥ |

koṭīparivṛtaḥ śaśvad bhakṣyate ca śunā bhṛśam ||

pañca mūrdhasahastrāṇi bhavantyasyāpavādinaḥ |

jihvānāṃ ca śatāḥ pañca bhavantyekaikamūrdhani ||

ekaikasyāṃ ca jihvāyāṃ śatāḥ pañca jvalanmukhāḥ |

lāṅgalānāṃ vahantyasya vācaṃ bhāṣitva pāpikām |

pratāpane ca pacyante tīvraduḥkhānalākule |

utpīḍāṃ bodhisattvānāṃ ye kurvanti asaṃgatāḥ ||

tiryagyoniḥ sanarakā na teṣāṃ bhoti durlabhā ||

kalpakoṭisahastrāṇi śatāni niyutāni ca ||

tataścayutā ghoraviṣā bhonti sarpāḥ sudāruṇāḥ |

kṣutpipāsābhibhūtāśca kurvate karma dāruṇam |

labdhvāpi bhojanapānaṃ tṛptiṃ naivādhigacchati ||

tataścyuto manuṣyeṣu sa yadyupapadyate |

jātyandho bhoti durmedhā duṣṭacetā asaṃvṛtaḥ ||

āryānārādhikāṃ vācamuktvā durbhāṣitaṃ naraḥ |

manuṣyebhyaścayutaścāpi punargacchati durgatim ||

kalpakoṭisahastreṣu jātaṃ buddhaṃ na paśyati ||



punaratraivāha-yāvanti mañjuśrīrbodhisattvo bodhisattvasyāntike pratighacittānyutpādayati avamanyanācittāni vā, tāvataḥ kalpān saṃnāhaḥ saṃnaddhavyaḥ- vastavyaṃ mayā mahānarakeṣviti | na mañjuśrīrbodhisattvo'nyena karmaṇā śakyo vinipātayitumanyatra bodhisattvāpavādādeva | tadyathā mañjuśrīrvajramaṇiratnaṃ nānyena kāṣṭhena loṣṭhena vā śakyaṃ mettumanyatra vajrāt, evameva mañjuśrīrbodhisattvo'nyena karmaṇā na śakyo vinipātayitumanyatra bodhisattvāpavādādeveti ||



āryaśraddhābalādhānāvatāramudrāsūtre'pyāha-yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā daśasu dikṣu sarvalokadhātuṣu sarvasattvāndhakāreṣu bandhane kruddhaḥ praveśayet, yaścānyaḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā bodhisattve kruddhaḥ parāṅmukhaṃ tiṣṭhet, nainaṃ durātmānaṃ paśyāmīti, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ pāpaṃ prasavati ||



atraivoktam-yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ sarvajāmbūdvīpakānāṃ sattvānāṃ sarvasvaṃ haret, yaścānyo yādṛśaṃ tādṛśaṃ bodhisattvaṃ garhet, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ pāpaṃ prasavati ||



atraivoktam-yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā gaṅgānadīvālikāsamān stūpān vinipātayeddaheta vā, yaścānyaḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā mahāyānādhimuktasya bodhisattvasya vyāpādakhilakrodhacittamutpādya krośayetparibhāṣayet, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ pāpaṃ prasavati | tatkasmāddhetoḥ? bodhisattvaniryātā hi buddhā bhagavantaḥ, buddhaniryātāśca stūpāḥ sarvasukhopadhānāni ca sarvadevanikāyāśca | bodhisattvamasatkṛtya sarvabuddhā asatkṛtā bhavanti | bodhisattvaṃ satkṛtya sarvabuddhāḥ satkṛtā bhavanti | sarvabuddhānanuttarayā pūjayā pūjayitukāmena bodhisattvāḥ pūjayitavyāḥ ||



etatpūjāvipākaśca praśāntaviniścayaprātihāryasūtre'bhihitaḥ-

yastveṣāṃ kurute rakṣāṃ dhārmikīṃ dharmavādinām |

hitvā sa durgatīḥ sarvāḥ śakro bhavati devarāṭ |

brahmāpi yāmastuṣito vaśavartī punaḥ punaḥ ||

manuṣyeṣūpapannaśca cakravartī sa jāyate |

śreṣṭhī gṛhapatiścāpi bhavatyāḍhayo mahādhanaḥ |

prajñāsmṛtibhyāṃ saṃyuktaḥ sukhito nirupadravaḥ ||iti||



atha katamaṃ bodhisattvamadhikṛtyeyaṃ kārāpakāracintā? pṛthagjanameva || yathoktaṃ śraddhābalādhānāvatāramudrāsūtre-yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā sarvalokadhāturajopamānāṃ sattvānāṃ divase divase divyaṃ śatarasamāhāraṃ dadat, divyāni ca vastrāṇi, evaṃ dadat gaṅgānadībālikāsamān kalpasamudrān dānaṃ dadyāt, yaścānyaḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā ekasyopāsakasyānanyaśāsturdaśakuśalakarmapathasamavanagatasyaikadivasamekamāhāraṃ dadyāt buddhasyāyaṃ bhagavataḥ śikṣāyāṃ śikṣita iti samāropaṃ kṛtvā, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ puṇyaṃ prasavati || yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuhaduhitā vā sarvalokadhāturajopamānāṃ daśakuśalakarmapathasamanvāgatānāmupāsakānāṃ divase divase divyaṃ śatarasamāhāraṃ dadyāt, divyāni ca vastrāṇi, evaṃ dadat gaṅgānadīvālikāsamān kalpān dadyāt | yaścānyaḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā ekasya bhikṣorekadivasamāhāraṃ dadyāt, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyetaraṃ puṇyaṃ prasavatīti ||



niyatāniyatāvatāramudrāsūtre'pyāha-sacenmañjuśrīrdaśasu dikṣu sarvalokadhātuṣu sarvasattvā utpāṭitākṣā bhaveyuḥ parikalpamupādāya | atha kaścideva kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā teṣāṃ sarvasattvānāṃ maitracittastānyakṣīṇi janayet parikalpamupādāya | yo vānyo mañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā mahāyānādhimuktaṃ bodhisattvaṃ prasannacittaḥ paśyet, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ puṇyaṃ prasavati || yaḥ kaścinmañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā daśasu dikṣu sarvasattvān bandhanāgārapraviṣṭān bandhanāgārānmocayitvā cakravartisukhe sthāpayed brahmatvasukhe vā, yo vānyo mañjuśrīḥ kulaputro vā kuladuhitā vā mahāyānādhimuktasya prasannacitto darśanābhilāṣī bhavedvarṇaṃ cāsyodāharet, ayaṃ tato'saṃkhyeyataraṃ puṇyaṃ prasavatīti ||



tathā kṣitigarbhasūtre'pyāha-yaḥ punarbhadanta bhagavan kṣatriyakalyāṇo vā amātyakalyāṇo vā bhaṭṭakalyāṇo vā śramaṇakalyāṇo vā brāhmaṇakalyāṇo vā paraṃ rakṣati, ātmānaṃ rakṣati, paralokaṃ rakṣati | bhagavacchāsane pātrabhūtamapātrabhūtaṃ vā yāvanmuṇḍaṃ kāṣāyakhaṇḍaprāvṛtaṃ parirakṣati śroṣyati pūjayiṣyati, śrāvakakathāṃ evaṃ pratyekabuddhakathāṃ śroṣyati pūjayiṣyati mahāyānakathāṃ ca, mahāyānasaṃprasthitān pudgalān śīlavato guṇāḍhayān yuktamuktapratibhānān, taiḥ sārdhaṃ ramati krīḍati paripṛcchati paripraśnayati, teṣāṃ śrotavyaṃ kartavyaṃ manyate | peyālaṃ | kiyantaṃ bhagavan pāpaṃ kṣapayiṣyati? bhagavānāha- tadyathāpi nāma kulaputra kaścitpuruṣa utpadyate, yaḥ sarvaṃ jambūdvīpaṃ saptaratnaparipūrṇaṃ kṛtvā tiṣṭhatāṃ buddhānāṃ bhagavatāṃ dānaṃ dadyāt, tathaiva madhyāhnasamaye tathaiva sāyāhnasamaye dānaṃ dadyāt, anena paryāyeṇa varṣaśatasahastramevaṃrūpaṃ dānaṃ dadyāt, tatkiṃ manyase kulaputra api nu sa puruṣo bahu puṇyaṃ prasavet? āha- bahu bhadanta bhagavan sa puruṣaḥ puṇyaskandhaṃ prasavedaprameyamasaṃkhyeyam | na tasya puṇyaskandhasya kenacicchakyaṃ pramāṇamudrahītumanyatra tathāgatena || bhagavānāha- yastu kulaputra kṣatriyakalyāṇo vā yāvadyathā pūrvoktam | peyālaṃ | sa bahutaraṃ puṇyaṃ prasavati | yāvadvipulataramapramāṇataramasaṃkhyeyataraṃ puṇyaskandhaṃ prasavati | yo mama paścimāyāṃ pañcaśatyāṃ vartamānāyāṃ saddharmanetrīṃ rakṣāti, sa rakṣatyātmānam, rakṣāti parāṃśca, rakṣati paralokam, rakṣati mama śāsanam, śrāvakān pātrabhūtānapātrabhūtān vā yāvanmuṇḍān kāṣāyavastraprāvṛtānapi rakṣati, na viheṭhayati | yāvat svakaṃ rāṣṭraṃ pararāṣṭraṃ ca vardhayati | apāyān kṣapayati | surālayaṃ ca prāpayati, ciraṃ cāyuḥ pālayati | svakleśāṃśca parakleśāṃśca kāṣayati | saṃbodhimārge ṣaṭpāramitāścopastambhayati | sarvāpāyāñjahāti | na ciraṃ saṃsāre saṃsarati | nityaṃ kalyāṇamitrairbuddhaiśca bhagavadbhirbodhisattvaiśca mahāsattvaiśca sārdha samavadhānagato bhavati | satataṃ kalyāṇamitrāvirahito na cireṇa yathābhiprāyeṣu buddhakṣetreṣvanuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhimabhisaṃbhotsyate || atha tāvadeva sarvadevendrāḥ saparivārā yāvatpiśācendrāḥ saparivārā utthāyāsanād yena bhagavān tenāñjaliṃ praṇamyaivamāhuḥ- ye te bhadanta bhagavan etarhmanāgate'dhvani yāvatpaścimāyāṃ pañcaśatyāṃ kṣatriyakalyāṇā bhavanti yāvadṛhapatikalyāṇāḥ | peyālaṃ | evaṃ saddharmarakṣakā evaṃ triratnavaṃśajvālayitāraḥ | peyālaṃ vayamapi sarve saparivārāstaṃ kṣatriyakalyāṇaṃ yāvadṛhapatikalyāṇaṃ daśabhirākārai rakṣiṣyāmaḥ paripālayiṣyāmo vardhayiṣyāmaḥ | katamairdaśabhiḥ? āyuścāsya vardhayiṣyāmaḥ, āyurantarāyaṃ ca dharmeṇa nivārayiṣyāmaḥ, ārogyaṃ ca parivāraṃ ca dhanaskandhaṃ ca upabhogaparibhogaṃ ca aiśvaryaṃ ca yaśaḥ kalyāṇamitrāṇi prajñāsaṃpadaṃ ca vardhāpayiṣyāmaḥ | ebhirdaśabhiriti vistaraḥ ||



evamabhūmipraviṣṭeṣvevāyaṃ vipākavistaro draṣṭavyaḥ || avalokanāsūtre'pi-



saṃbodhau cittamutpādya hitārthaṃ sarvaprāṇinām |

yaḥ stūpaṃ lokanāthasya karotīha pradakṣiṇam ||



ityādyanuśaṃsavistaramuktvā āha-



yastveṣāṃ buddhaputrāṇāṃ naraḥ kurvīta apriyam |

devān manuṣyān varjitvā narakaṃ tasya gocaram ||



iti vistaraḥ pūrvavat ||



na cātra viśeṣahetuḥ kaścidupadarśayituṃ śakyata ityalaṃ vikalpena ||



karmāvaraṇaviśuddhisūtre'pyāvaraṇaśabdenānartha uktaḥ-āvaraṇaṃ mañjuśrīrucyate rāgaḥ, āvaraṇa dveṣaḥ, āvaraṇaṃ mohaḥ, āvaraṇaṃ dānam, āvaraṇaṃ śīlakṣāntivīryadhyānaprajñā āvaraṇam | peyālaṃ | tatkasya hetoḥ? bālapṛthagjanā mañjuśrīrdānaṃ dadānā matsariṇāmantike'prasādaṃ kurvanti | te tenāprasādena pratighacittamutpādayanti | pratighakhiladopeṇa mahānarakeṣūpadyante | śīlaṃ rakṣanto duḥśīlān kutsayanti paribhāṣanti | te teṣāmavarṇa ca bhāṣanti | te teṣāṃ doṣaṃ śrutvā bahujanasyāprasādaṃ kurvanti | te tenāprasādena durgatigāmino bhavanti | te kṣāntiṃ bhāvayantaḥ kṣāntimadenātmānamutkarṣayanti pramādyanti- vayaṃ kṣāntivādinaḥ | ime punaranye vyāpannacittāḥ | teṣāṃ kṣāntimadamattānāṃ pramādamūlakāni duḥkhānyutpadyante | vīryamārabhamāṇā ātmānamutkarṣayanti, parān paṃsayanti-kusīdā ime bhikṣavo viharantyanabhiyuktāḥ śraddhādeyaṃ paribhuñjānāḥ | naite'rhanti pānīyasthālakamapi | te tena vīryārambheṇa ātmānamutkarṣayanti, paraṃ ca paṃsayanti | tānahaṃ bālāniti vadāmi | te dhyānaṃ samāpadyamānāstatra dhyānasamāpattau spṛhāmutpādayanti | teṣāmevaṃ bhavati- vayaṃ samādhivihāriṇaḥ, ime'nye bhikṣavo vikṣiptacittā viharanti | kutaste buddhā bhaviṣyantīti vistaraḥ ||



sarvadharmāpravṛttinirdeśe'pyāha- bodhisattva āpatyā codayati, dūrībhavati bodhiḥ, karmāvaraṇaṃ ca parigṛhṇāti | īrṣyayā codayati,dūrībhavati bodhiḥ | īryāpathena codayati, dūrībhavati bodhiḥ | sacidbodhisatvasyāntike hīnasaṃjñāmutpādayati ātmani codārasaṃjñām, kṣiṇotyātmānaṃ karmāvaraṇaṃ ca gṛhṇāti | iṣṭabodhisatvena bodhisatvamavavadatā anuśāsatā vā śāstṛsaṃjñāmupasthāpya avavaditavyo'nuśāsitavyaḥ | bodhisattvena bodhisatvasyāntike na paribhavacittamutpādayitavyam, sacedasyāparityaktā bodhiḥ || na devaputra bodhisattvaḥ kkacideva kuśalamūlāni samucchinati, yathā dvitīyabodhisattvamāgamyeti || anutpāditabodhicitte'pi tāvadbodhibhavye sattve'vamanyanā pratiṣiddhā, kiṃ punaruditabodhicitte ||



yathoktaṃ śūraṃgamasamādhisutre-tatra dṛḍhamate katamadanutpāditabodhicittavyākaraṇam? iha dṛḍhamate sa pudgalaḥ pañcanatike saṃsāre upapanno bhavati | yadi vā nirayeṣu yadi vā tiryagyonau yadi vā yamaloke yadi vā deveṣu yadi vā manuṣyeṣu | sa ca pudgalastīkṣṇendriyo bhavati, udārādhimuktikaḥ | tamenaṃ tathāgataḥ prajānāti-ayaṃ puruṣapudgalo yāvadiyadbhiḥ kalpakoṭīniyutaśatasahastrairanuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau cittamutpādayiṣyati | peyālaṃ | iyadbhiścāsaṃkhyeyakalpaśatasahastrairbodhimabhisaṃbhotsyate | peyālaṃ | idaṃ dṛḍhamate ucyate bodhisattvasyānutpāditabodhicittavyākaraṇam | aya khalvāyuṣmān mahākāśyapo bhagavantametadavocat-adyāgreṇāsmābhirbhagavan sarvasattvānāmantike śāstṛsaṃjñotpādayitavyā | tatkasya hetoḥ? na hyasmākametajjñānaṃ pravartate katamasya bodhisattvasya bodhiparipācakānīndriyāṇi saṃvidyante? katamasya na saṃvidyante? tato vayaṃ bhagavannajānānāstathārūpeṣu hīnasaṃjñāmutpādayena | tena vayaṃ kṣaṇyema || bhagavānāha -sādhu sādhu kāśyapa, subhāṣitā te iyaṃ vāk | idaṃ ca mayā kāśyapa arthavaśaṃ saṃpaśyamānena yuṣmākamevaṃ dharmo deśitaḥ - mā bhikṣavaḥ pudgalena pudgalaṃ pravicetavyam, yacchītraṃ kṣaṇyati hi bhikṣavaḥ pudgalaḥ pudgalaṃ pravicinvan | ahaṃ vā pudgalaṃ pramiguyāṃ yo vā syānmādṛśaḥ | etena kāśyapa nirdeśena bodhisattvena vā śrāvakeṇa vā sarvasattvānāmantike śāstṛsaṃjñtpadayitavyā | etena kaśayapa nirdeśena bodhisattvena vā śrāvakeṇa vā sarvasattvānāmantike śāstṛsaṃjñotpādayitavyā | mātra kaścidbodhisattvayānikaḥ pudgalo bhavet | tena tatrātmā rakṣitavya iti | yasya tu niyatameva bodhiprāpticihnamasti, tatra sutarāmavamanyanā rakṣitavyā ||



yathoktamāryasaddharmapuṇḍarīkasūtre-



iṣṭāmayānmṛttikasaṃcitān vā prītāśca kurvanti jinasya stūpān |

uddiśya vā pāṃśukarāśayo pi aṭavīṣu durgeṣu ca kārayanti ||

sikatāmayā vā puna kūṭa kṛtvā ye keciduddiśya jināna stūpān |

kumārakāḥ krīḍiṣu tatra tatra te sarvi bodhāya abhūṣi lābhinaḥ ||yāvat |

ye citrabhittīṣu karonti vigrahān

paripūrṇagātrāṃñchatapuṇyalakṣaṇān |

likhetsvayaṃ cāpi likhāpayedvā

te sarvi bodhāya abhūṣi lābhinaḥ ||

ye cāpi kecittahi śikṣamāṇāḥ

krīḍāratiṃ cāpi vinodayantaḥ |

nakhena kāṣṭhena kṛtāsivigrahān

bhittīṣu puruṣā catha kumārakā vā

sarve ca te bodhi abhūṣi lābhinaḥ || peyālaṃ ||

vādāpita jhallariyo'pi yehī

jalamaṇḍakā carpaṭamaṇḍakā vā |

sugatānamuddiśyatha pūjanārtha

sugītaṃ ca gītaṃ madhuraṃ manojñam ||

sarve ca te buddha abhūṣi loke

kṛtvāna tāṃ bahuvidhadhātupūjām |

kimalpakalpī sugatāna dhātuṣu

ekaṃ pi vādāpiya vādyabhāṇḍam ||

puṣpeṇa caikena hi pūjayitvā





anupūrva drakṣyanti hi buddhakoṭayaḥ ||

yaiścāñjalistatra kṛto'pi stūpe

paripūrṇa ekā talasaktikā vā |

onāmitaṃ śīrpa bhavenmuhūrtam

onāmitaṃ kāya tathaikavāram ||

namo'stu buddhāya kṛtaikavāraṃ

yehī tadā dhātudhareṣu teṣu |

vikṣiptacittairapi yaikavāraṃ

te sarvi prāptā imamagrabodhim ||

sugatāna teṣāṃ tada tasmi kāle

parinirvṛtānāmatha tiṣṭhatāṃ vā |

ye dharmanāmāpi śruṇiṃṣu sattvāḥ

te sarvi bodhāya abhūṣi lābhinaḥ ||iti||

mahākaruṇāsūtre'pyuktam-

tadyathā vāḍiśikena mahatthudakasarasi matsyākarṣaṇārthaṃ sāmiṣaṃ vaḍiśaṃ prakṣiptaṃ bhavet, samanantaraprakṣiptaṃ ca matsyena nigīrṇa bhavet | kiṃ cāpi sa matsya udakasarasi bhramati, atha ca punarbaddha eva sa vaktavyo dṛḍhena sūtreṇa sthalagatadaṇḍasunibaddhena | yatsa bāḍiśika āgatya tena sūtrelādhavena jānāti- gṛhīto matsya iti | tamenaṃ sūtrādṛhītvā sthalagataṃ karoti yathākāmakaraṇāya paribhogāya | evameva ye sattvā buddheṣu bhagavatsu cittaṃ prasādya kuśalamūlamavaropayanti, antaśa ekacittaprasādamapi, kiṃ cāpi te sattvā duṣkṛtena karmāvaraṇenākṣaṇeṣūpapannā bhavanti, atha ca buddhā bhagavantastān sattvān bauddhena jñānena saṃgrahavastusūtreṇa gṛhītvā saṃsārodakasarasa uddhṛtya nirvāṇasthale sthāpayantīti ||



tasmādeṣu śāstṛṣaṃjñā kāryā | vandamānāśca manasā vanditavyāḥ | bhavati hi navako'pi bodhicittabalādvandyaḥ | yathā meghena dramiḍena mahābodhisattvenāpi satā navaka āryasudhanaḥ sarvaśarīreṇa praṇipatya vanditaḥ | niyatārthaṃ cedam | yathā adhyāśayasaṃcodanādiṣu sarvabodhisattvayānikapudgalanamaskāro'nujñātavyaḥ | sarvaśabdenātmano'pi grahaṇāt | kathamekatra vandyavandakatvaṃ na virudhyate? parasparaṃ vandyatvenaivāmbanāt | ata evānāsvādanādapuṇyabhāvaḥ | kiṃ ca buddhānāmapyevamiṣyate, mā bhūdanavasthā, ekasya cānyūnateti ||



āryasarvadharmavaipulyasaṃgrahasūtre'pyanartha uktaḥ- sūkṣmaṃ hi mañjuśrīḥ saddharmapratikṣepakarmāvaraṇam | yo hi kaścinmañjuśrīstathāgatabhāṣitadharme kasmiṃścicchobhanasaṃjñāṃ karoti, kkacidaśobhanasaṃjñām, sa saddharma pratikṣipati | tena saddharmaṃ pratikṣipatā tathāgato'bhyākhyāto bhavati | dharmaḥ pratikṣipto bhavati | saṃgho'pavādito bhavati | ya evaṃ vadati- idaṃ yuktamidamayuktamiti, sa saddharmaṃ pratikṣipati | na mayā pṛthakkaściddharmaḥ śrāvakayānasaṃprayuktaḥ pratyekabuddhayānasaṃprayukto mahāyānasaṃprayukto deśitaḥ | tatte mohapuruṣā imaṃ mama dharmaṃ nānākariṣyanti - idaṃ śrāvakāṇāṃ deśitamidaṃ pratyekabuddhānāmidaṃ bodhisattvānāmiti | sa nānātvasaṃjñayā saddharma pratikṣipati- iyaṃ bodhisattvasya śikṣā, iyaṃ bodhisattvasyāśikṣeti saddharma pratikṣipati | dharmamāṇakasyāsti pratibhānam, nāsti pratibhānamiti saddharma pratikṣipati | dharmaṃ dharmatayā kathayati, saddharma pratikṣipati | apagate buddhotpāde nāsti dhāraṇīpratilambha iti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | nāsti dharmabhāṇakasya dhāraṇīpratilambha iti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | dharmabhāṇakasya caryāṃ dūṣayati, dharma pratikṣipati- dharmabhāṇako na pratipattisaṃpanna iti dharma pratikṣipati | pramādenainaṃ codayati, saddharma pratikṣipati | īryāpathena codayati, saddharma pratikṣipati | akṣaracaryayā śīlavipattyā codayati, dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | pratibhānena saṃpādayatīti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | āloko'sya dharmāṇāṃ na suvidita iti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | mantreṇa mantramabudhyamānaḥ prativadatīti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | akṣarasaṃjñayā tathāgataśāsanaṃ nāvagāhata iti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | sūtreṇa sūtraṃ virodhayatīti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | gāthayā gāthāṃ virodhayatīti dharma pratikṣipati | akṣarasaṃjñayā kaṃcidadhimuktaṃ karoti kaṃcinna karotīti dharma pratikṣipati | dharmabhāṇakasyārthānyakathāmabhināmayatīti dharma pratikṣipati | vicakṣuḥkarmāsya karoti, dharma pratikṣipati | saṃlāpayan vadatīti dharma pratikṣipati | ihāsyāsti caryā, ihāsya nāsti caryeti dharma pratikṣipati | idaṃ sūktadamimasūktamiti dharma pratikṣipati | anena nāsti caryeti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | anena buddhavacanasamaya ukto nānena buddhavacanasamaya ukta iti dharmaṃ pratikṣipati | iti hi mañjuśrīryāvatkiṃcidvilopayati tāvaddharma pratikṣipati | dharmabhāṇakasyedaṃ rūpamiti cintayati, vadati bhikṣuvī bhikṣuṇī vā upāsako vā upāsikā vā , sa sarvaḥ saddharmaṃ pratikṣipatītyādi ||



atraiva coktam- yasya kasyacitkulaputra tathāgatasya parinirvṛtasya dharmaḥ pratibhāti yathādhimuktānāṃ sattvānāṃ deśayitum | tasyāṃ ca parṣadi yadyekasattvasyāpi ekaromaharṣo bhavedekāśrupāto vā, sarvaḥ sa tathāgatānubhāvena | tatra mohapuruṣā abodhisattvā bodhisattvapratijñā bodhisattvadūṣakā dharmastainyakuhakā evaṃ vakṣyanti dharmopadeśakebhyaḥ kimete na budhyanta iti | peyālaṃ ye bodhisattveṣvavamanyanāṃ kurvanti, nāhaṃ teṣāṃ paryantakṛtaṃ nirayaṃ saṃvadāmi | tatkasya hetoḥ? yo bodhisattvo dharmabhāṇakamapavadati, buddhaṃ sa vigarhati, dharmaṃ sa pratikṣipati, saṃghaṃ sa jugupsati || buddhe so'gauravo yo dharmabhāṇake'gauravaḥ | buddhaṃ sa na draṣṭukāmo yo dharmabhāṇakamadraṣṭukāmaḥ | buddhasya so'varṇaṃ bhāṣate, yo dharmabhāṇakasyāvarṇaṃ bhāṣate | buddhastena parityakto bhavati yaḥ prathamacittotpādike'pi bodhisattve pratighacittaṃ karotīti || peyālaṃ || yo'pyayaṃ maitreya ṣaṭpāramitāsamudāgamo bodhisattvānāṃ saṃbodhāya, taṃ mohapuruṣā evaṃ vakṣayanti- prajñāpāramitāyāmeva bodhisattvena śikṣitavyam, kiṃ śeṣābhiḥ pāramitābhiḥ? te'nyāṃ pāramitāṃ dūṣayitavyāṃ manyante | tat kiṃ manyase'jita duṣprajñaḥ sa kāśīrājābhūd yena kapotārtha śyenāya svamāṃsāni dattāni? maitraiya āha- no hīdaṃ bhagavan |bhagavānāha- yāni mayā maitreya bodhisattvacaryāṃ caratā ṣaṭpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāni kuśalamūlānyupacittāni, apakṛtaṃ nu taiḥ kuśalamūlaiḥ? maitraiya āha- no hīdaṃ bhagavan | bhagavānāha- tvaṃ tāvadajita ṣaṣṭiṃ kalpān dānapāramitāyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṃ śīlapārimitāyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṃ kalpān kṣāntipāramitāyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṃ kalpān vīryapāramitāyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṃ kalpān dhyānapāramitāyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṃ kalpān prajñāpāramitāyāṃ samudāgataḥ, tatte mohapuruṣā evaṃ vakṣyanti- ekanayenaiva bodhiryaduta śūnyatānayeneti | te caryāsu pariśuddhā bhaviṣyantītyādi ||
